গদ্য – ১

মানুষের জীবনকে একটি দোতলা ঘরের সঙ্গে তুলনা করা যেতে পারে

মানুষের জীবনকে একটি দোতলা ঘরের সঙ্গে তুলনা করা যেতে পারে। জীবসত্তা সেই ঘরের নিচের তলা আর মানবসত্তা বা মনুষ্যত্ব ওপরের তলা। জীবসত্তার ঘর থেকে মানবসত্তার ঘরে উঠবার মই হচ্ছে শিক্ষা। শিক্ষাই আমাদের মানবসত্তার ঘরে নিয়ে যেতে পারে। অবশ্য জীবসত্তার ঘরেও সে কাজ করে; ক্ষুৎপিপাসার ব্যাপারটি মানবিক করে তোলা তার অন্যতম কাজ। কিন্তু তার আসল কাজ হচ্ছে মানুষকে মনুষ্যত্বলোকের সঙ্গে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেওয়া। অন্য কথায় শিক্ষার যেমন প্রয়োজনের দিক আছে, তেমনি অপ্রয়োজনের দিকও আছে; আর অপ্রয়োজনের দিকই তার শ্রেষ্ঠ দিক। সে শেখায় কী করে জীবনকে উপভোগ করতে হয়, কী করে মনের মালিক হয়ে অনুভূতি ও কল্পনার রস আস্বাদন করা যায়।

মনুষ্যত্ববোধের কারণে মানুষ পৃথিবীর অন্যান্য প্রাণী থেকে আলাদা। মানুষের জীবসত্তা থেকে মানবসত্তা তথা মনুষ্যত্বে উত্তীর্ণ হওয়ার উপায় হলো শিক্ষা। শিক্ষাই মানুষকে মনুষ্যত্ববোধের সন্ধান দেয়, জীবনকে উপভোগ করতে শেখায় এবং হৃদয়কে আলোকিত করে।

মানুষের মূল্য কোথায়? চরিত্রে, মনুষ্যত্বে, জ্ঞানে ও কর্মে। বস্তুত চরিত্র বলেই মানুষের জীবনের যা কিছু শ্রেষ্ঠ তা বুঝতে হবে। চরিত্র ছাড়া মানুষের গৌরব করার আর কিছু নেই। মানুষের শ্রদ্ধা যদি মানুষের প্রাপ্য হয়, মানুষ যদি মানুষকে শ্রদ্ধা করে, সে শুধু চরিত্রের জন্যে, অন্য কোনো কারণে মানুষের মাথা মানুষের সামনে এত নত করার দরকার নেই। জগতে যে সকল মহাপুরুষ জন্মগ্রহণ করেছেন, তাঁদের গৌরবের মূলে এই চরিত্রশক্তি। তুমি চরিত্রবান লোক, একথার অর্থ এই নয় যে, তুমি লম্পট নও। তুমি সত্যবাদী, বিনয়ী এবং জ্ঞানের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধাপোষণ করো, তুমি পরদুঃখকাতর ন্যায়বান এবং মানুষের ন্যায় স্বাধীনতাপ্রিয়, চরিত্রবান মানে এই।

মানুষের প্রকৃত মূল্য তার মনুষ্যত্ব, জ্ঞান ও চরিত্রে। চরিত্রবলে মানুষ শ্রদ্ধা, ভক্তি অর্জন করতে পারে। পৃথিবীর সকল মানুষের শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের মূল চরিত্র। পরােপকারী, ন্যায়বান, সত্যবাদী, স্বাধীনতাপ্রিয় মানুষই চরিত্রবান।

নিন্দা না থাকিলে পৃথিবীতে জীবনের গৌরব কি থাকিত?…

নিন্দা না থাকিলে পৃথিবীতে জীবনের গৌরব কি থাকিত? একটা ভালো কাজে হাত দিলাম, তাহার নিন্দা কেহ করে না, সে ভালো কাজের দাম কী? একটা ভালো কিছু লিখিলাম, তাহার নিন্দুক কেহ নাই , ভালো গ্রন্থের পক্ষে এমন মর্মান্তিক অনাদর কী হইতে পারে? জীবনকে ধর্মচর্চায় উৎসর্গ করিলাম, যদি কোন মন্দ লোক তাহার মধ্যে মন্দ অভিপ্রায় না দেখিল, তবে সাধুতা যে নিতান্তই সহজ হইয়া পড়িল। মহত্ত¡কে পদে পদে নিন্দার কাঁটা মাড়াইয়া চলিতে চায়। ইহাতে যে হার মানে, বীরের সঙ্গতি সে লাভ করে না। পৃথিবীতে নিন্দ দোষীকে সংশোধন করিবার জন্য আছে তাহা নহে, মহত্ত¡কে গৌরব দেওয়া তাহার একটা মস্ত কাজ।

সারাংশ :  নিন্দা আছে বলেই পৃথিবীতে জীবন ও কর্মের গৌরব আছে। নিন্দুকেরা যেকোনো কাজের খুঁত ধরে বেড়ায়। এই নিন্দার কাছে যে হার মানে, গৌরবের জয়মাল্য তার জন্য নয়। তাই নিন্দার কাঁটা মাড়িয়েই মহত্তকে গৌরবঅর্জন করতে হয়।

কবিতা – ১

সার্থক জনম আমার জন্মেছি এই দেশে

সার্থক জনম মাগো, তোমায় ভালবেসে।

জানিনে তোর ধন-রতন আছে কিনা রাণীর মতন,

শুধু জানি আমার অঙ্গ জুড়ায় তোমার ছায়ায় বসে।

কোন বনেতে জানিনে ফুল গন্ধ এমন করে আকুল;

কোন গগনে উঠেরে চাঁদ এমন হাসি হেসে।

আখিঁ মেলে তোমার আলো প্রথম আমার চোখ জুড়ালো,

ওই আলোতেই নয়ন রেখে মুদব নয়ন শেষে।

মাতৃভূূমি প্রতিটি মানুষের কাছেই প্রিয়। নিজের দেশের প্রতি সকলেরই মমতা আছে। ধনসম্পদের পূর্ণ না থাকলেও স্বদেশই সবার প্রিয়। স্বদেশের কোলে মাথা রেখেই সবাই বাঁচতে চায়। আবার তার কোলে মাথা রেখেই সবাই মরতে চায়।

কবিতা – ২

 বসুমতী, কেন তুমি এতই কৃপণা?

কত খোঁড়াখুঁড়ি করি পাই শস্যকণা। 

দিতে যদি হয় দে মা, প্রসন্ন সহাস 

কেন এ মাথার ঘাম পায়েতে বহাস?

শুনিয়া ঈষৎ হাসি কন বসুমতী,

আমার গৌরব তাতে সামান্যই বাড়ে 

তােমার গৌরব তাহে একেবারেই ছাড়ে।

সারমর্ম :  ধরণিতে শস্যসম্পদ ফলাতেও অনেক পরিশ্রম করে মাথার ঘাম পায়ে ফেলতে হয়। পরিশ্রমলব্ধ সম্পদ মানুষের মনে আত্মতৃপ্তি এনে দেয়। তাই মানুষের শক্তি, সামর্থ্য ও শ্রমের এত মূল্য। অন্যের করুণা-নির্ভরতা মানুষকে অমর্যাদা এনে দেয়। পরিশ্রমই মানুষের অস্তিত্বের অবলম্বন এবং মর্যাদা কষ্টিপাথর।
