The reference list should always begin on a new page. Depending on your subject, there will probably be a specific format and referencing pattern for written work (Chicago, Harvard, MLA, Social Sciences) . Before you start writing, make sure you know what the convention for your subject area is, learn it and stick to it. There are a wide variety of different referencing conventions so it is important to make sure you find the correct one and stay consistent.
This will make doing your research proposal (and future research) a lot easier. Depending on your subject, your referencing may involve in-text citations or footnotes. Either way, your proposal will need a full reference list or bibliography at the end, including all of the secondary works you have mentioned in your literature review and primary sources (if applicable) .
You do not, however, need to include work that you have read in preparation but not used or mentioned in your work. Make sure this is correctly formatted — plenty of style guides for each referencing style are available online. Also, remember to lay out your reference list in alphabetical order by the authors’ surnames.

To make a comprehensive research proposal, make sure you answer all the questions your review committee might have, such as who is your sample audience, what kind of questions you plan to ask them, why you are conducting this research, what you think will come out of it, etc. Leave no room for assumptions. Alternatively, you can also use this template to best understand which nitty-gritty details to cover.

Research activities are often too complicated and costly to carry out single handedly from your own pocket. You need external funding and endorsement to be able to execute them. For that to happen, you have to draft a letter and present it to the various funders.
This letter is a research proposal. It proposes the project you intend to engage in while at the same time requests for sponsorship to that particular research. Knowing how to draft it is hence critical to your success. We offer more explanations to this letter in our subsequent discussions hereunder to help you in drafting one successfully.
Upon receiving this letter, the funders and potential sponsors will evaluate its merit and potential impact before committing to fund it. This letter basically persuades the reader to adopt the solutions that are proposed therein too! It does this by spelling out the potential value that the reader stands to gain.
Even though these proposals differ markedly from one another, they are drafted using more or less similar steps.
Below are those steps highlighted and explained in detail:
First, determine the exact project. This is the problem which your research basically aims at solving. The problem, needless to say, has to be relevant to the community or humanity as a whole to be able to stand a chance of receiving the necessary funding.
Proceed now to spell out the scope of the research. ‘Scope’ here means the extent to which the project shall be valid and relevant. It also indicates the timelines that may have to be adhered to for the best outcomes to be attainable. Your funder will scrutinize these details to determine whether they merit funding.
Each proposal has to be carried out within a predefined framework. You have to spell out the precise framework within which yours is to happen. Come out with the relevant topics and steps that may have to be followed to attain the necessary end. This also will help in understanding the project altogether.
This is the core of the proposal altogether. Here, you basically fill the blank spaces which are left after outlining the scope of the project. To do this, write the details under each topic or step you have already delineated above. Be detailed and thorough in warding off any likely ambiguities.
Needless to say, you have to proofread and edit the proposal before finally submitting the same to the prospective funder. Use grammar and spell checking tools to achieve this end. Documents that are devoid of any errors stand a higher chance of getting the funding. They are also deemed serious.
A typical proposal has to comprise the following items:
This is the basic format for all kinds of proposals. All you have to do is fill in the blanks with the relevant pieces of information:
Proposal example.
To be able to draft a quality research proposal, there are a number of things you have to bear in mind.
In this segment, we delineate and explain to them for you to note:
Though this is an academic paper, the funder or financier may never have a background in matters of academics. You hence want to avoid technical languages that are likely to confuse the reader. Such an approach will also help the reader to interpret the proposal and make meaning easily.
One sure way of having your proposal receiving immediate acceptance is to highlight the potential benefits and explain. Let the reader know what he or the entire humanity stands to gain from that research if and when it eventually materializes. It would help if it impacted multiple disciplines at a time.
As part of the benefits that the proposal may bring about, it is also necessary that you emphasize the practicality of the research work. This simply means that you have to prove to the prospective financier the practical viability of the project. Many projects are turned down mainly because they fail on this.
Your proposal ought to incorporate lots of facts to stand a chance of getting understood well. The facts have to be plain and not forced, squeezed or justified unnecessarily. Break the data down in forms that are easily understood. In this way, the readers will also get enlightened and educated considerably.
Other than bearing some facts in mind, it is also important that you stay away from some otherwise common mistakes as you draft your proposal.
In this segment of our discussions, we explain these things you should avoid:
Many people forget to mention the citations. This is not right as those citations are necessary to allow for independent corroborations of the facts contained in the proposal. Many readers will simply revert the proposal to you for completion.
Though it is necessary to describe the project in-depth, you are cautioned against doing that excessively. You may confuse your reader with too many facts which he may not be in the position to digest and make meaning of. Instead, keep everything short and precise.
There has to be a perfect match between the topic and the contents that come thereafter. Some have had this tendency to write out of topic i.e., incorporate details that are way unrelated to the topic or the major subject of the research.
The length of the proposal also matters. You want to cover all the essentials but, at the same time, refrain from making it too long for the reader to comb through easily while attempting to make meaning of the same. Thus, you have to keep the length moderate.
Given that this is an academic-cum official publication, it has to have a formal tone. Avoid using slang or unofficial languages to pass your concepts through. That is a recipe for immediate rejection. Take care though, that you do not use too hard vocabulary for the sake of those who may not be too learned.
Many mysteries abound regarding this subject matter of the research proposal. Let us now take a look at some of these questions and what their answers are:
Around 2,500 words would suffice. Any longer would be too long for a reader. A shorter proposal, on the other hand, would definitely leave out some crucial details, a fact that potentially renders the proposal of no effect.
Generally, a good proposal has to address the question at hand in totality. It ought not to leave any gaps untouched as this might make the same incoherent and probably turned down by a would-be financier. The language in use also has to be simple and match the levels of literacy of the targeted reader.
There are five main types. These are: Solicited proposals – submitted in response to a specific matter. Unsolicited proposals – Drafted without any prior consultation and used to call for funding. Pre-proposals – An executive summary of a planner research work that spells out the budget estimates, targeted audience, planned methodology, and projective objectives. Continuation or non-competing proposals – Drafted to seek funding for ongoing work or project. Renewal or competing proposals – Written to compete for limited funding. In many cases, it pits multiple candidates and research writers. Renewal or competing proposals – Written to compete for limited funding. In many cases, it pits multiple candidates and research writers.
Our long and in-depth look into the subject of the research proposal comes to an end there. We now urge you to make good use of the provisions therein. That can only happen if you read the explanations carefully before setting out to write such a letter. It also pays to spread love abroad. Share the contents freely!

If you are doing academic research or any research for the company you work for, you will need to present the material in a professional fashion. A research proposal will help explain the intention behind the research you plan to conduct. It will also highlight the research techniques you plan to use. Making clear your intentions and methods is imperative if you want your proposal to impress those who must approve the project. This is where a research proposal template serves as a valuable and helpful resource.
A research paper proposal template breaks down all the necessary sections of the proposal into segments. You can use a research proposal example to help in designing your own template. But, you also have the choice of using a ready-made research paper outline template to make things easier for you.
When filling out the research proposal template you will still need to take considerable care in developing the proposal’s presentation. The proposal needs to be exact, easy to understand, and concise. Academic or business-oriented writing and language are essential. You will need to fill the template in such a way that your ideas still be in linear order. The most basic of formats must be the final shape of the presentation. In other words, your writing is fluid and move from the introduction to the body of the proposal. It must then continue with a fluid presentation into the conclusion of the document.
If you are writing a paper for an independent study or you are writing a dissertation in college, you will need to write a research proposal. The document must express the subject of your research. It must also include how you plan to go forth with the research. This document is of tremendous importance since it is the precursor to a larger body of work. The research paper proposal template is ideal for the following people:
Every research paper differs and is dependent upon the subject matter. You should talk with the supervisor of your project to find out about project expectations and deadlines. You can verify proposal deadlines and if the research you are interested in pursuing is acceptable.
The academic level and the purpose of the paper, whether a dissertation or some other type of assignment, plays a role in what goes into the initial proposal. However, there are some general elements one can expect to find in a proposal.
A quality research proposal example will reveal a document offering a clear, well-written outline describing your project’s undertaking. The plans you have for completing the research is something to include in the proposal. The goal of the proposal is so you can sway project funders to provide you with the monies needed to complete the necessary research. Or, it might be that your goal is to impress your professor by proving the knowledge you’ve accumulated will contribute to a successful research project.
No matter what you decide to research, the proposal will have some basic requirements to meet. The proposal must include the following:
It’s imperative that the abstract stays brief. The expectation is about 250 to 300 words in length. That’s about 10 percent of the total length of the research proposal. Longer than that, and it might deter the reader’s interest. It will also give you less room to discuss the goals and aims of the research project.
The length of the research proposal template is not long. You’ll find most writing requirements demand a word count of 2500 to 3000 words. Depending on spacing requirements, this might be three to five pages of information. This ensures concise writing. Of course, the study supervisor makes the final call on proposal length and necessary inclusions.
The research proposal template will have an area where you can put the title of the document. This title needs to be short, concise, and to the point. It should not take up more space than necessary. You’ll need to have a title that is absent of acronyms or abbreviations. The title needs to have a hook or stimulating words that will stir up the reader’s interest in what the research paper is about; you can use a research proposal example to get an idea about excellent title writing.
Within the title, if it is possible for you to do so, you need to give reference to the independent and dependent variables. If it is possible, the title needs to still be under 15 words. It should not be shorter than five words. There will be room for the catchy title on a research paper proposal template; it is here you will win the attentions of that all-important reader.
The title should be on a separate page and set apart from the rest of the template. Here, the author’s name, the class or course name, and the date of the work is necessary. The page numbers begin on the next page, but do not appear on the first page of the template.
Part of presenting a well-documented and researched paper is to make it available with ease of access. The table of contents follows the title page. The main chapters or sections of the paper must appear neat and orderly. Sub-headings are something you can add to make it easy to find the detailed portions of each section or chapter as well. If you can create a mock table of contents, it can serve as an outline for the paper’s structure. You can always edit the table later as you develop your research and expand on the subject matter.
The abstract is the next section you will see on a well-constructed research proposal template. This area has information about what the paper holds. The abstract is a summary so the reader gets an immediate understanding about the arguments or discoveries in the paper. The abstract should be in active voice if it is possible to do so.
The proper use of grammar and sentence style is also necessary when you are writing the abstract. You might benefit from writing the abstract portion of the paper last. This gives you an opportunity to work your way through the rest of the research paper outline template. It allows for the opportunity to develop a clear description of all the essential information the paper holds.
The abstract of the research proposal template needs to be short. You do not mention your references or research material at this point. All sentences should be complete and you should not use ellipses. Terms, jargon, and related abbreviations should appear the body of the paper. Do not reference your images at this point either. It is a clear and unambiguous explanation of the paper’s purpose only.
Depending on the research proposal template and assignment specifications, you might see a section where you must present some background information and the rationale for the paper. This is a section allowing you to describe how you decided to examine the subject of the paper.
You can help draw the interest of the reader if you explain how you became interested in what the paper explores. The answer needs to be brief, but by explaining the development of your interests, it will help the reader understand the point of you view you take when examining your subject matter. Here, a bit of your background and experience can also prove both beneficial and revealing.
In this section, you can touch on some of the supporting literature you will use to back your arguments. Your familiarity with the subject matter will become clear as you make mention of the types of work you’ve explored during the process of your planned research. The information of most value, however, will be the reason the project is a worthwhile expedition or endeavor; it’s your job to tell the reader the knowledge you expect to gain through the study.
As you examine one research proposal example after another, you will see the style of the paper differs on the type of coursework relating to the paper in question. You’ll also see differences in a research proposal template design when you are proposing diverse types of research. Some papers need an area where explore one or more research questions. Others might want a cut and dry introduction revealing the questions you plan to explore. The subject of your investigation and the questions you plan to answer need to have a clear definition. You need to know in advance what you plan to focus on with the work you are developing. Here you need to convince the reader you have a solid understanding of the subject and how you will approach it.
Some research paper proposal template selections will include an area where you can include a literary review. This section allows you to make a list of the literature you have explored to support your research. It can also list the literature you plan to examine to find evidence supporting your theories or position. The literature review is a place to give the reader with a summary of existing literature, and your interpretation of that literature. Emphasis is on your interpretation here; you don’t want to regurgitate someone else’s work. You want to interpret what you’ve found and enhance it by adding your own opinion to it. In this section, you’ll also need to find any gaps that might be in existing research. If your theory or presentation plans to address this gap in knowledge, you can identify that fact in this section by explaining how it will supply the missing knowledge.
The Framework or Methodology of the Proposal
This is the part of the research proposal template that needs information in relation to the methods you plan to use to research and support your argument. Are there special methods or procedures you must use? Here, you’ll have to source your information and data. The reader can internalize the information and consider whether it is valid or not. Your means of analysis will also undergo the reader’s scrutiny. The inclusion of the method section of is imperative. No matter what subject you are covering, if the information you are using is outdated, outmoded, spurious, or if your focus is too rigid, you can end up with a research project featuring weak or refutable arguments.
Since there are many methods for conducting research, you’ll need to clarify your research techniques. This section of the research template proposal gives you the chance to reveal the reasons why you choose one method of research over others. For example, did you use an observational method when you conducted your research ? Did you interact with any subjects in the study? If so, how did you interact? Did you offer a questionnaire for students to answer? What size was the representative sample for the questionnaire? Clarifying your method will allow the reader to understand how you approached the research.
A research proposal template can help simplify the task of proposing research for a dissertation, job, or research grant approval. While the template helps in designing a proposal that helps a supervisor or governing body understand your theories and methods, it is also a paper that helps you in developing an understanding of how to continue with writing the longer dissertation. It will serve as a documented outline of the literary pieces you’ll need to review for project completion. The proposal also defines your theory in concrete terms, so you can compare your findings with the initial assertions you set forth in the proposal. You may find your argument and findings evolve during the course of the research.

To save yourself some but of time and effort, it is imperative that you clearly outline your tasks way in advance. This breakdown should explain the outline of the stages involved and the corresponding timelines where each activity is to be tackled at each stage.
As a general rule, the full-time study of your research has to take no more than 3 years, whereas the corresponding write-up is to be completed strictly within the fourth year of the registration.
In the case of the part-time studies, the research proposal has to be completed within 6 years, whereas the write-up has to be concluded in the 8th year from commencement.
The ultimate end of the research proposal is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge. Thus, a portion of the proposal has to be devoted to how the findings of the proposal are likely to contribute to the increase of knowledge.
You have to state the proposed contribution vividly. This could take the forms of the following:
In the course of your research, you will no doubt have to refer extensively to come pre-existing literature. It is only a matter of courtesy and professionalism that you detail these sources below the literature. This is where the bibliography comes in.
It is basically a list of the references that showcase the articles, journals, books, and other documentation that are cited extensively within the body of the research proposal. This listing is arranged alphabetically and explains every detail of the source.

A research proposal is a crucial aspect of the academic and scientific community as it lays the foundation for conducting extensive studies and experiments. The proposal serves as a roadmap that outlines the objectives, methodology, and potential impact of a research project. It is also a tool used to secure funding and support from institutions, organizations, or funding agencies.
An effective research proposal should be clear, concise, and persuasive, demonstrating the relevance, originality, and feasibility of the proposed study. This article provides a comprehensive guide to writing a successful research proposal, including key elements, best practices, and common mistakes to avoid.
Table of Contents
A research proposal is typically used by academic researchers, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and other individuals who are seeking support for a research project. The intended audience for a research proposal can vary depending on the purpose of the proposal and the context in which it is being written.
Research Proposal Templates are documents that provide a detailed plan for a research project. These templates help researchers and organizations to outline the research questions, objectives, methodology, budget, and timeline for the study.
They serve as a blueprint for conducting the research and help to ensure that all necessary steps are followed. Using a research proposal template can save time and effort, and can help to ensure that the proposal is well-structured and includes all relevant information. These templates are available in various formats and can be customized to fit the needs of a specific research project.
In each of these cases, the researcher would write a research proposal that is tailored to the specific needs and expectations of the intended audience. The proposal would typically include information about the background and context of the research problem, the research questions or hypothesis, the methods that will be used to conduct the research, and the potential outcomes and implications of the research.
Research proposals play a crucial role in the scientific and academic communities as they provide a plan and framework for conducting research. Here are some reasons why research proposals are important:
Clarification of Research Goals : Research proposals help to clearly articulate the goals and objectives of a research project, which can help to ensure that the research is focused and efficient.
Funding: Research proposals are often used to secure funding from grants, foundations, or other sources. A well-written research proposal can demonstrate the significance and feasibility of the research project, increasing the likelihood of securing funding.
Collaboration: Research proposals can help to facilitate collaboration between researchers by clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of each team member.
Ethics Approval: In many cases, research proposals must be approved by institutional review boards or ethics committees to ensure that the research is ethical and in compliance with regulations.
Validation: Research proposals help to validate the research project and ensure that it is based on sound theories and methods. A research proposal provides an opportunity for peer review and feedback, allowing the researcher to make improvements before conducting the actual research.
The goal of a research proposal is to present and justify a research idea and to request support for its implementation. A research proposal typically outlines the background and context of the research problem, the research question or hypothesis, the methods that will be used to conduct the research, and the potential outcomes and implications of the research.
The main purpose of a research proposal is to persuade others that the researcher has a feasible research project and that the researcher has the competence and the work-plan to complete it. A research proposal serves as a bridge between the researcher and the intended audience, such as a funding agency, a departmental review committee, or a journal editor.
Ultimately, the goal of a research proposal is to convince the intended audience that the proposed research project is important, feasible, and worthy of support.
The exact content and format of a research proposal can vary depending on the specific requirements of the intended audience, but most research proposals include the following elements:
Introduction: This section provides background information on the research problem and a clear statement of the research questions or hypothesis.
Literature Review : This section reviews relevant literature and provides a context for the research problem. The literature review should include a synthesis of previous research on the topic, highlighting gaps in the existing knowledge that the proposed research aims to fill.
Methods: This section describes the research design, including the study population, sample size, and sampling techniques. It also details the data collection methods, the data analysis techniques, and any ethical considerations.
Timetable: This section outlines the timeline for the proposed research, including the start and end dates and the major milestones.
Budget: This section provides an estimate of the costs associated with the proposed research, including personnel, equipment, and supplies.
Conclusion: This section summarizes the research proposal and reiterates the significance and importance of the proposed research.
References: This section lists the references cited in the proposal, using a standard citation format.
The length of a research proposal can vary, but most proposals range from 1000 to 5000 words. The exact length of a research proposal will depend on the requirements of the intended audience, such as a funding agency or academic department, as well as the complexity of the research project.
For example, a research proposal for a small, straightforward project may be shorter than a proposal for a large, multi-year study. Similarly, a proposal for a PhD thesis may be longer than a proposal for a journal article.
It is important to follow the guidelines and requirements provided by the intended audience, as this will help to ensure that the proposal is complete and meets the expectations of the reviewers. If guidelines are not provided, it is a good idea to aim for a proposal that is concise and clearly presents the research idea, methods, and expected outcomes.
In general, it is better to err on the side of being concise and to focus on presenting the most important information clearly and effectively. A well-written, focused proposal that meets the requirements of the intended audience is more likely to be successful than a lengthy, generic proposal that lacks clarity and detail.
A well-structured research proposal is critical to the success of the proposal. A clear, organized proposal makes it easier for the reader to understand the research problem and the proposed solution, and it demonstrates that the researcher has given careful thought to the project and has a well-planned approach.
The following is a general structure that can be used as a guide when writing a research proposal :
Introduction:
In the introduction, you should provide background information on the research problem and the research question or hypothesis. This section should clearly state the research problem, the significance of the research, and the purpose of the proposal. The introduction should be engaging and set the stage for the rest of the proposal.
Literature Review:
The literature review should provide a comprehensive overview of previous research on the topic, including the key studies and findings, and any gaps in the existing knowledge that the proposed research aims to fill. The literature review should also provide the theoretical or conceptual framework for the research. This section should be well-organized and demonstrate the researcher’s expertise in the field.
In the methods section, you should describe the research design, including the study population, sample size, and sampling techniques. You should also detail the data collection methods, data analysis techniques, and any ethical considerations. This section should provide enough detail to enable the reader to understand how the research will be conducted and should demonstrate that the researcher has thought through the logistics of the study.
In the timetable section, you should provide a detailed timeline for the proposed research, including the start and end dates and the major milestones. This section should demonstrate that the researcher has a well-planned approach to the project and a clear understanding of the resources and time needed to complete the study.
In the budget section, you should provide an estimate of the costs associated with the proposed research, including personnel, equipment, and supplies. This section should be well-organized and should demonstrate that the researcher has given careful consideration to the financial aspects of the study.
Conclusion:
In the conclusion, you should summarize the research proposal and reiterate the significance and importance of the proposed research. This section should provide a clear and concise overview of the research proposal and should leave the reader with a positive impression of the proposed project.
References:
In the references section, you should list the references cited in the proposal, using a standard citation format. This section should be well-organized and complete, and it should demonstrate the researcher’s commitment to rigorous research.
Writing a research proposal can be a challenging task, but it is also an important step in the research process. A well-written research proposal can help to secure funding, support, or approval for a research project. This guide provides a step-by-step guide to writing a research proposal:
Choose a research topic:
The first step in writing a research proposal is to choose a research topic that is interesting and relevant to you. Consider your personal interests, expertise, and background , as well as the current state of knowledge in the field. You should choose a topic that you are passionate about and that has the potential to make a meaningful contribution to the field.
Conduct a literature review:
Once you have chosen a research topic, the next step is to conduct a thorough literature review. This will help you to identify any gaps in the existing knowledge and to understand the current state of research on your topic. You should also use the literature review to develop a theoretical or conceptual framework for your research.
Formulate a research question or hypothesis:
Based on your literature review, you should formulate a clear and focused research question or hypothesis that you aim to address through your research. Your research question or hypothesis should be specific, measurable, and testable.
Determine your research design:
The next step is to determine the research design that you will use to address your research question or hypothesis. You should consider the type of research (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods), the study population, sample size, and sampling techniques. You should also describe the data collection methods and data analysis techniques that you will use.
Create a budget and timeline:
Based on your research design, you should create a detailed budget and timeline for your research project. Your budget should include an estimate of the costs associated with personnel, equipment, and supplies, and your timeline should include a detailed timeline of the major milestones in the research project.
Write the introduction:
In the introduction, you should provide background information on the research problem, the significance of the research, and the purpose of the proposal. You should also provide an overview of the literature review and the research question or hypothesis. The introduction should be engaging and set the stage for the rest of the proposal.
Write the literature review:
In the literature review, you should provide a comprehensive overview of previous research on the topic, including the key studies and findings, and any gaps in the existing knowledge that the proposed research aims to fill. This chapter considers African women's participation in leadership and their views on effective leadership. The literature suggests that African women remain underrepresented in leadership roles, although participation rates are increasing. African women are well represented as entrepreneurs, in the less profitable informal sector, and are increasingly found in political spheres. The LEAD research shows men and women holding similar views regarding effective leadership. Preliminary results suggest that traditional views about leadership, which held women back, may be changing. This is a positive development, as society will benefit from the leadership skills of women. Efforts by African governments to mandate percentages of women in leadership positions may have an effect on government as well as business. Africa, however, is a large continent with parts of its population residing in rural areas where traditions continue. Consequently, more research is needed to understand devel...

The women in traditional African societies suffered discrimination and prejudice in their quest to participate in leadership. This paper examined the attitude of modern Africans towards allowing female equal access as their male counterparts to leadership positions in global organisations. The study was conducted among 100 part time students of a tertiary institution who worked under male and female leaders. The participants were purposeivey selected into a quasi-experimental group. They were asked to express a preference between a male leader and a female leader assuming they were the ones to decide who to hire to fill positions of CEOs in two simulated global organisations. They were also requested to rate their female or male leaders using Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ). The result of the study revealed that women were still unfavourably perceived as fit for leadership positions. The reasons for the negative perception towards women participation in leadership was discussed, the qualities that make African women good leaders were analysed, and efforts that can be made to increase women's leadership participation in Africa were also suggested. INTRODUCTION Organisations do evolve from domestic companies to become multinational institutions or global organisations. Invariably, the leadership of such organisationsis expected to be part of the evolution process, besides, globalization as a phenomenon has compelled many companies to adopt a global mindset in their business operations. It has therefore become an issue of concern to researchers how today business organisations plays in the increasingly globalised world. Introduction of new or improved technologies in information communication and the continual ease in modes of transportation has further enhanced the drive for businesses to think and act globally. Thus, many African organisations whose operations were limited only to the boundaries of their home countries only have started spreading their tentacles to several other countries outside their borders physically, or virtually. Interestingly, in this new reality Lajtha and Carminati-Rabasse (2008) opined that women should be accorded more consideration than men for global leadership roles because they appear better prepared because of their perceived positive tendency towards inclusivity, diversity, social responsibility, and global skills than men. Moreover, other advocates of women leadership have pointed to studies that suggest that women's leadership styles were more democratic, participative and less autocratic or directive than men's leadership styles (Eagly& Johnson, 1990). In spite of this vantage position ascribed to women in the extant literature, fewer women were still in executive positions and/or on board of directors compared to their male counterparts (Singh & Vinnicombe, 2004). According to a Catalyst (2011) report, the following represent the number of women in executive positions in the United States: 51.5% holds management and professional positions, only 14.4% of executive officer positions and 15.7% of board seats.Adler (2002) had earlier painted a worst scenario when he reported that only 3% of senior management positions in the United States and 2% in Europe were held by women. Similarly, Singh and Terjesen (2008) revealed that the percentages of women holding seats on company boards ranged from only 0.2% in Japan to 22% in Slovenia. The U.S. Department of Labor (2010) and the Bureau of Labour Statistics corroborated further by stating that, in spite of the fact that 30% of both men and women have at least a bachelor's degree; women were underrepresented in senior leadership roles and only make 81% of their male counterparts' wages. While some of the records presented here reflect certain improvements from pastdecades, Eagly and Carli (2007) showed that women continue to face a series of obstacles within a labyrinth as they attempt toascend the line of command to become leaders. As poor as women participation in leadership is in North America and Europe in spite of their liberal dispositions to the female gender, the situation is worse in Africa with a less liberal disposition. For example, the recent data made available by World Bank Enterprise Survey (2011) shows that in both the public and private sectors in Africa, only 1 in 26 salaried African women is employed in a senior management position, compared with 1 in every 6 men.In South Africa that has the reputation as one of the most developed African countries as far as equality of gender is concerned and gender sensitive constitution, (see table 1), it was reported that there were only 10 companies with more than 25% women in senior management in 2004,this increased significantly to 58 companies in 2008 and then fell back to only 37 companies in 2011. (Business Women's Association, 2011). However, There is a substantial volume of literature on the merits of creating equal access to leadership roles for both men and women, what appears to be lacking in the existing studies is the research on struggles of corporate women in the developing economies in their effort to attain leadership positions domestically and globally. The present study is aimed at contributing to filling this gap.

This paper seeks to analyze the various contributions of these African women in positions of global authority and the parts they play in influencing fellow women to aspire and take up leadership positions. The paper adopts library instrument of research from documented materials such as books, periodicals, journals and reports. Findings show that, across the world, women make up about half the population yet they never come close to holding fifty percent of the positions of power in any government. The paper concludes that, without a doubt, women in Africa have risen to various positions of power and leadership both within the private and public sectors of governance and indeed are proving their mettle in their various spheres. Although successful African women leaders have very intimidating résumés, very little records of mentoring and personal development of fellow women exist. The paper recommends that, specific and critical measures should be taken to enable women's full participation in decision making, policy formulation as well as access to all organizations of the society. Successful women should mentor and develop fellow women, which is necessary in order to support and encourage the leadership traits in younger women.

The purpose of this study was to assess how cultural perceptions influence women’s active participation in leadership in Kitutu Masaba Sub County. Globally the participation of women in leadership is very low. In East Africa, Kenya is the worst performing still struggling to achieve the 30% threshold mandated in the constitution, mainly because of the political environment and cultural beliefs that still place women at “home”. One case worthy to note, is the Abagusii people who since independenc have never elected any woman as a Member of Parliament, except those elected as Women County Representatives in the general election held in 2013 and 2017. The study made use of the Feminist theory which recognizes the pervasive influence of gender divisions on social life and Empowerment Theory which explain how individuals’ and communities increase power to control various aspects of their lives and participate in the community with dignity. Related literature on women participation was reviewed. The targeted population was men and women aged 18 years and above, the sample size was 384, arrived at through the use Morgan 7 Table. Purposive Sampling was used to sample leaders in the community (elected, appointed, men and women at all levels ad opinion makers) in the six wards of Kitutu Masaba Sub County. Respondents were selected from each ward on stratified random sampling and targeted at least 64 respondents from each ward of Kitutu Masaba sub County. Data collection was done through question guidelines and interviews. The study used descriptive survey design. Data were analyzed using the computer programme, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Result findings were presented using frequency tables, graphs, charts and narrations. From the findings of the study, it is concluded that women are marginally under-represented in leadership in the community, and that cultural factors are the strongest barriers that hinder women from participating in leadership positions. The findings of this study are significant in that they may assist the community and relevant government departments in developing more appropriate strategies, policies and regulations that will encourage more women to take part in leadership positions in Kitutu Masaba Sub County. The results of the study formed a basis for making recommendations on how more women could be empowered to perform leadership roles.

Rampant social crises entangled in deadly African demonstrations, protests and running battles are a callous condition provoking profound reflection on the calibre of leadership occupying different levels in public institutions. We navigate the feasibility of unlocking the women leadership potential seemingly ubiquitous under cultural stereotypes that confront female leadership. The overwhelming studies conducted elsewhere stimulate deeper enquiry into the underpinning women leadership obstacles within sub Saharan Africa. The primeval ideological prejudices paint a malaise portrait that perceives men as breadwinners. Austerity measures to alter this philosophy have been significantly hampered, despite rigorous determination in the last three decades. Mechanisms continue to be sought to support these endeavours, including all-inclusive leadership training interventions that address women underrepresentation in the upper echelons. A paucity of gender inclusive leadership continues to rein in most public enterprises prompting the need for further investigation. Incompatible women roles in work-home spheres place additional demands on women, thus weakening their self-esteem. A rapture of gender activists tends to provoke resentment from male partisans in the gender campaigns. Conversely, women themselves tend to widen the gap by restraining support for other women while feeling a sense of security in female homogeneous settings. Socialisation is incredibly perceived contributory to women leadership obstacles; women internalise certain socio-cultural roles engrained in their dispositions. Additionally, child marriage particularly in the girl child is believed to perpetuate leadership barriers from a cultural perspective ultimately undermining chances of increased women leadership. Finally, the gap in women leadership policy implementation continues to swell despite numerous conventions and policy stipulations that yield little results, compelling an urgent need for further research.

Disparaging feelings toward women in the workplace, society, civil society and leadership consisted of attitudes such as, “[women] lacked career orientation, leadership potential and were undependable and emotionally unstable – all of which made women unsuitable candidates for management and some strategic and sensitive leadership position.” (Bass, Krusell, & Alexander, 1971).Polls about women in leadership said that despite executives more favorable view of women, the majority still think only a truly exceptional woman can succeed in some leadership role in the world (Sutton & Moore, 1985). The unfounded attitudes we hold are the larger concern for our understanding of women in leadership. The presence of feminine or masculine characteristics in leadership styles is related to the construct of gender (Larson and Freeman, 1997). Gender, race, class, and other elements of social difference are acknowledged to play an important role in the development of leadership styles.Recognizing women’s styles of leadership represents an important approach to equity as long as they are not stereotyped as “the” ways women lead but as “other” ways of leading. The feminine leadership styles are not better or worse than the traditional male-oriented ones, they are just different.

This section should identify what the research is all about, its scope, and its importance to the business. The introduction should also provide the objectives and sub-objectives of the business study that needs to be achieved.
After the introduction, the next thing you need to do is to present the data gathering procedure. In this section, you have to outline the activities that should be done for the process. And to this, you have to identify the appropriate data gathering methods, whether qualitative or quantitative research . There are different methods and strategies that you can use. However, you should have to choose the appropriate methodology that will work on your business process.
The next thing you have to include in your business research proposal is the research questionnaire. The list of questions will help you collect relevant and useful data that will complete the research process. In presenting this information, you may use bullet points to make it organized and understandable.
Finalize your business research proposal by writing a brief conclusion that summarizes the whole idea of your proposals’ content. In this section, you have to emphasize the importance and purpose of research for your business. Also, provide a statement of the several benefits and advantages that the company will gain from the research.
Having an informative business research proposal is not useful if the people who will read it are not able to grasp the idea the proposal is providing. That is why it is essential to use only simple words and terms that are readable and understandable by your readers. The organization of thoughts is also important. It presents the right structure of information accordingly.

Researches that are related to businesses are essential for sustainability and success. According to an article from Medium, research is a critical component for businesses, specifically market research . Hence, business owners should put enough effort into researching to secure a permanent and high spot in the market. And this is where a business research proposal comes useful—the first thing that management should have before research.
A business research proposal is a written document used by management for either marketing research, accounting research, etc. The business research proposal presents and justifies the purpose of the study to be conducted. This also outlines the ways on how business research should be conducted. The standard length for the business research proposal is two to three pages. Nonetheless, it should be informative and well-written.
There are two types of research proposals that are useful for businesses, organizations, as well as in academic, approval proposals and funding proposals. Approval proposals refer to a written document that is written before doing the actual research. On the other hand, a funding proposal refers to a written document that seeks research funds.
A research proposal must present the idea of what the research is about and its importance. Thus, it should include a clear research title, a research overview, an introduction, the questionnaire, data gathering methods, and a research timeline. These components are commonly used in business and academic research.
Begin a business research proposal with a concise introduction outlining the research problem, its significance, and the proposed methodology. Clearly state the objectives and expected outcomes to provide a solid foundation for the study.
Business research plays a crucial role in informing strategic decisions by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting relevant data. It guides organizations in understanding market trends, consumer behavior, and industry dynamics for informed decision-making and sustainable growth.
Ethics in business research involves adhering to principles of integrity, honesty, and fairness. It ensures researchers conduct studies responsibly, respect participants’ rights, and maintain confidentiality, fostering trust and credibility.
Business research is one of the most important components of a sustainable and successful business. With this, businesses or organizations will be able to grasp new ideas that they can use to enhance their operations and improve marketing strategies . Hence, making sure that business research follows the standard format and obtains the necessary information. Thus, the use of a business research proposal to make the process comprehensive and effective.

Research is not only a time-intensive exercise; it is also a capital-intensive one and as such, it needs a budget. Drafting a research budget is no walk in the park because you have to know exactly how much will be needed to see the process through, not to mention you may have to account for every penny spent. By virtue of being such a technical document, you will always need some help drafting it; and that’s where the research budget template comes in.
The template enables you to get a rough idea of some of the elements to include in the budget, so you do not run into any financial dead ends. Let us learn more of this critical template and see why you need it.
A research proposal budget sample is in many ways similar to the research budget sample, only that at this stage, it is still a proposal.
This sample is often written in a linear or tabular format and it details all the expenses that are associated with the proposal project.
A research study budget is a document that contains a breakdown of the funds needed to meet the various activities involved in conducting a research study. It is important to remember that a research study is not just intended to develop new methods or improve the existing practices; one of the ultimate goals of the study is profit making by the researchers.
Therefore, this budget should be able to convince stakeholders, more so the sponsors, that the study is a viable cause and that investing their money in it will be worthwhile.
A research budget example is basically a sample document of a research budget. As there are possibly hundreds or thousands of types of researches done daily, there is no hard and fast rule on the details that need to be in such a sample document. However, the rule of thumb demands that the names of the researchers be included, along with the identified challenges and expected financial investment for each challenge.
The document can take any form but primarily, the names of the researchers and the expected challenges come on the left-hand side with their corresponding assignments and projected budget for each problem respectively coming on the right-hand side of the document.
Whether you are an expert or a novice in writing research budget proposals, one thing that’s for sure is that you will always find yourself making purely avoidable mistakes.
As these documents are highly sensitive, mistakes are things you can’t afford; which is why you are advised to always keep a sample template for reference.
