The Ghost Movie Review: అక్కినేని నాగార్జునకు అక్టోబర్ 5 ఓ స్పెషల్ డే! ఆయన కెరీర్ లోనే ఫస్ట్ బ్లాక్ బస్టర్ మూవీ ‘శివ’ రిలీజ్ డేట్ అది. ఆ తర్వాత మళ్ళీ ఇంతకాలానికి అదే రోజున ‘ది ఘోస్ట్’ మూవీ వస్తోంది. నాగార్జున, ప్రవీణ్ సత్తారు ఫస్ట్ కాంబినేషన్ లో సునీల్ నారంగ్, పుస్కూర్ రామ్ మోహన్ రావు, శరత్ మారర్ ఈ మూవీని ప్రొడ్యూస్ చేశారు. ఈ యేడాది ఇప్పటికే ‘బంగార్రాజు, బ్రహ్మాస్త్రం’ చిత్రాలతో జనం ముందుకు వచ్చిన నాగార్జున ‘ది ఘోస్ట్’తో ఎలా ఆకట్టుకున్నారో చూద్దాం.

గత యేడాది వచ్చిన ‘వైల్డ్ డాగ్’ యాక్షన్ థ్రిల్లర్ లో నాగార్జున ఎన్.ఐ.ఎ. ఆఫీసర్ గా నటించాడు. ఆ సినిమా కమర్షియల్ సక్సెస్ సాధించకపోయినా.. ఈ వయసులోనూ నాగార్జున ఫుల్ ఫిట్ గా ఉన్నారనేది ఆ సినిమా నిరూపించింది. ఇక ఈ యేడాది ప్రారంభంలోనే ‘బంగార్రాజు’గా ఫుల్ రొమాంటిక్ పాత్రను చేసి మాస్ ఆడియెన్స్ ను మెప్పించారు. ‘బ్రహ్మాస్త్రం’లో ఆయన పోషించింది గెస్ట్ రోల్ కావడంతో అక్కినేని అభిమానులు ఒక్కింత నిరాశకు గురయ్యారు. ఆ లోటును భర్తీ చేస్తూ దసరా కానుకగా ‘ది ఘోస్ట్’ మూవీ వచ్చేసింది.

ఇంటర్ పోల్ ఆఫీసర్స్ విక్రమ్ (నాగార్జున), ప్రియ (సోనాల్ చౌహాన్) మధ్య మంచి అండర్ స్టాండింగ్ ఉంటుంది. ఈస్ట్ అరేబియాలో ఓ ఆపరేషన్ ను వీళ్ళిద్దరూ సక్సెస్ చేస్తారు. లివ్ ఇన్ రిలేషన్ లో ఉండే వీరిద్దరూ చేపట్టిన మరో ఆపరేషన్ మాత్రం ఫెయిల్ అవుతుంది. ఇండియన్ ఫ్యామిలీకి చెందిన ఓ పిల్లాడిని ఉగ్రవాదులు దారుణంగా చంపేస్తారు. అప్పటికే మానసికంగా డిస్ట్రబ్ అయి ఉన్న విక్రమ్ ఉద్యోగానికి రాజీనామా చేస్తాడు. అతను తన మాట వినడం లేదనే కోపంతో ప్రియా ముంబైకు వచ్చి ఎన్.సి.బి.లో చేరుతుంది. ఇలా ఐదేళ్ళు గడిచిపోతాయి. ఆ తర్వాత ఓ రోజు ఇండియా నుండి విక్రమ్ కు అను (గుల్ పనాగ్) నుండి ఫోన్ వస్తుంది. తన లైఫ్ రిస్క్ లో ఉందని, తన కూతుర్ని చంపేస్తామని కొందరు బెదిరిస్తున్నారని విక్రమ్ కు చెప్పి వాపోతుంది. దాంతో హుటాహుటిన విక్రమ్ ఊటీలో లాండ్ అవుతాడు. అనుకు అండగా నిలబడటంతో పాటు ఆమె కూతురి సెక్యూరిటీ బాధ్యతలను భుజానికెత్తుకుంటాడు. అసలు విక్రమ్ కు అను కు ఉన్న సంబంధం ఏమిటీ? ఆమె కోసం అతను తన లైఫ్ ను ఎందుకు రిస్క్ లో పెట్టుకున్నాడు? కార్పొరేట్ సంస్థలు అండర్ వరల్డ్ తో చేతులు కలిపితే జరిగే పర్యవసానం ఏమిటీ? ఐదేళ్ళ పాటు విక్రమ్ కు దూరంగా ఉన్న ప్రియా మళ్ళీ అతని చెంతకు ఎలా చేరింది? విక్రమ్ ను చూడగానే ఏదో ఘోస్ట్ ను చూసినట్టుగా అరి వర్గాలు ఎందుకు భయపడ్డాయి? వీటన్నింటికీ సమాధానమే ఈ సినిమా!

ముందు చెప్పినట్టు నాగార్జునకు ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు కొట్టిన పిండే. ఆ మధ్య రామ్ గోపాల్ వర్మ డైరెక్ట్ చేసిన ‘ఆఫీసర్’తో పాటు తాజాగా ‘వైల్డ్ డాగ్’లోనూ నటించాడు. అయితే ఆ రెండు సినిమాల కంటే కూడా ఇది కాస్తంత భిన్నమైంది. ఇందులో కేవలం యాక్షన్ కే ప్రాధాన్యం ఇవ్వకుండా కొద్దిగా రొమాన్స్ ను, ఇంకొద్దిగా ఫ్యామిలీ సెంటిమెంట్ ను డైరెక్టర్ ప్రవీణ్‌ సత్తారు మిక్స్ చేశాడు. అండర్ వరల్డ్ నేపథ్యాన్ని మాత్రమే తీసుకుని ఉంటే ఇది రొటీన్ యాక్షన్ థ్రిల్లర్ అయిపోయి ఉండేది. అయితే కార్పొరేట్ క్రైమ్ ను దానికి యాడ్ చేయడం బాగుంది. నిజానికి ఈ రెండు అంశాలను ప్రవీణ్ సత్తారు తన గత రెండు ప్రాజెక్ట్స్ లో విడివిడిగా టచ్ చేశాడు. ఐదేళ్ళ క్రితం ‘గరుడవేగ’ను ఎన్.ఐ.ఎ. నేపథ్యంలో తెరకెక్కించిన ప్రవీణ్ లాస్ట్ ఇయర్ కార్పొరేట్ క్రైమ్ నేపథ్యంలోనే ‘లెవన్త్ అవర్’ వెబ్ సీరిస్ తీశాడు. సో.. ఈ రెండింటినీ మిక్స్ చేసి ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్ విషయంలో జస్ట్ కేక్ వాక్ చేశాడంతే. అయితే నాగార్జున బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్ ను దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకుని యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ ను, అక్కినేని అభిమానులను నిరుత్సాహానికి గురి చేయకుండా రొమాంటిక్ సాంగ్ కు ప్రాధాన్యమిచ్చాడు. దాంతో ఇటు ఫ్యాన్స్, అటు మాస్ ఈ సినిమా విషయంలో ఫుల్ హ్యాపీ ఫీలవుతారు. అలానే ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియెన్స్ ను ఆకట్టుకునేలా సెంటిమెంట్ సీన్స్ ను డిజైన్ చేశాడు. అవీ బాగానే ఉన్నాయి. ఇక క్లయిమాక్స్ లో ఇచ్చిన ట్విస్ట్ అందరినీ సంతోష పరుస్తుంది.

విక్రమ్ క్యారెక్టర్ లో నాగార్జున చక్కగా సెట్ అయ్యాడు. యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ లోనూ స్టైలిష్ గా కనిపించాడు. విశేషం ఏమంటే, ఇంతకాలం గ్లామర్ డాల్ ఇమేజ్ ని క్యారీ చేస్తున్న సోనాల్ చౌహాన్ ఇందులో దానితో పాటు యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ లోనూ ఆకట్టుకుంది. కార్పొరేట్ సంస్థ అధినేత్రిగా గుల్ పనాగ్, ఆమె కూతురుగా అనిఖా సురేంద్రన్ చక్కగా నటించారు. విలన్ మనీశ్ చౌదరి స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ బాగుంది. ఇతర ప్రధాన తారాగణంలో జయప్రకాశ్‌, శ్రీకాంత్ అయ్యంగార్, రవివర్మ మాత్రమే సుపరిచితులు, మిగిలిన వారు తెలుగు తెరకు కొత్త!! భరత్, సౌరభ్ అందించిన రొమాంటిక్ సాంగ్ ట్యూన్ బాగుంది. అలానే మార్క్ కె రాబిన్ నేపథ్య సంగీతం, ముఖేష్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ ఆకట్టుకునేలా ఉన్నాయి. దినేశ్ సుబ్బరాయన్, కేచ్ డైరెక్ట్ చేసిన యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ బాగున్నాయి. బట్.. ఎడిటింగ్ విషయంలో ఇంకాస్తంత కేర్ తీసుకుని ఉండాల్సింది. సినిమా అయిపోయిందని భావిస్తున్న తరుణంలో విక్రమ్ భారీ తుపాకీ తీసుకుని విధ్వంసం సృష్టించిన సన్నివేశాలకు ఇటీవల వచ్చిన కమల్ హాసన్ ‘విక్రమ్’ ప్రేరణేమో అనిపిస్తుంది. విక్రమ్ ఏమిటనేది అప్పటికే ప్రేక్షకులకు తెలుసు కాబట్టి క్లయిమాక్స్ లో మరీ అంత అరాచకం అక్కర్లేదు.

King Nagarjuna’s latest film, The Ghost, which has been carrying good expectations around it, directed by Praveen Sattaru, has been released today, on the occasion of Dussehra. Let’s take a look at how the film is.

Vikram (Nagarjuna) is an interpol cop works on a contractual basis. Movie starts with glimpses of his past, as we navigate through his present he is seen protecting his sister and niece. Nagarjuna goes after the underworld in Dubai in his past. Why he has to protect his sister, how his past is linked to present and what finally happens forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

As usual, Nagarjuna is good in his role, carrying the entire movie on his shoulders, but to no avail in the end. He looks good and is effortless even in the action sequences. Sonal Chauhan is perfect in her role as well.

Gul Panag and Anikha Surendran, who are seen in key roles, do well in their roles, and the sequences they share with Nag are interesting.

The rest of the cast is good in what they’re given, including Ravi Varma, Srikanth Iyengar and Jaya Prakash.

Off-Screen Talents:

Director Praveen Sattaru takes a familiar concept, but gives his own spin, in The Ghost. His screenplay is tight in parts, while it lags a bit in the others. The director is known for his unique mark in films, which seems lacking in The Ghost, with several sequences feeling like they’ve been stretched too thin.

The background score in the first half of the film is especially good, elevating every scene of the movie, and so are the action sequences. However, they get too much in the second half, disconnecting the audience from the rest of the story.

The cinematography of the film is top-notch, and so are the production values, which are very clearly shown throughout the entire film. The editing could have been a lot crisper though.

• Lack of emotional connect

The Ghost is burdened with too many action sequences in the second half and very little emotional connect. The movie doesn’t carry director Praveen Sattaru’s mark, passable in bits and pieces, and can even test your patience through its runtime.

Final Report: Overall movie is not engaging, the flashback story of The Ghost did not work out well which director banked on for the under current emotion in the movie.

The Ghost Review – Nothing to Boast

What happens when a few killers try to kidnap the girl and her mother? Who is The Ghost , and what’s his purpose forms the movie’s basic plot.

Performances King Akkineni Nagarjuna has once again picked up an exciting, action-packed role in the line of Gaganam and Wild Dog. He navigates through the proceeds with ease and exhibits a body language that is unique to him.

When we look at Nagarjuna in the movie, it is clear that he is enjoying doing it. The work also is lighter in drama even though it has a serious issue related to the lead. Nagarjuna breezes through the proceedings, but there is nothing memorable here.

Sonal Chauhan plays the female lead in the movie in the typical sense. She has a good opening block along with the star but is later missing in action. Sonal surfaces in the second half again, but it’s too late by then to have any impact.

Looking at the opening block of The Ghost, one definitely feels that there is a genuine action thriller on cards by Praveen Sattaru. Unfortunately, the dream is short-lived, and none other than Praveen Sattaru is to be blamed.

Praveen Sattaru has been dabbling in various genres since the beginning of his career. He cracks the formula and then fills the script with details related to the formula. All his films show similar patterns, which has worked for a few of them. But, when it comes to The Ghost, he has failed spectacularly.

The biggest issue with The Ghost is missing nativity. Apart from Nagarjuna, there is nothing to hold the attention to. The setting, the relationship beats, the personal problem pertaining to the hero, and everything looks very derivative.

What works amidst them is the action scenes. Two action blocks stand out, one at the beginning and another during the flashback. But, apart from them, nothing engages.

The artists, setup, and execution lack the realism required to have the impact. The action scenes without any foundation don’t work. Even a slick action thriller isn’t exempted. We have a couple of examples recently where the emotions were blended wonderfully. The same doesn’t happen between the kid and Nagarjuna in The Ghost.

Not only does the story feel alien, lacking nativity to the audience, but we also have elevations that feel too over the top and dilute the impact of the thin wafer story, which is already an issue.

The climax after all that happens, the twists along the way, nothing adds up to make an impact. There are good shots, some excellent BGM work, and nice action, but nothing comes together as a whole to leave one impressed.

Overall, The Ghost is a wasted opportunity considering the resources at disposal. A couple of action scenes and Nagarjuna are all that movie has to grab attention, and they are not enough.

Anikha Surendran is alright playing a spoilt rich brat who later develops affection. Srikanth Iyenger and Ravi Varma are repetitive and getting typecast in their parts. The rest of the actors have nothing to talk about.

కథేంటంటే: వామన్‌ శ్రీనివాసన్‌ (ప్రశాంత్‌ నారాయణన్‌) ఓ మాజీ సీబీఐ అధికారి. 10ఏళ్లు పోరాటం చేసి కర్ణాటకలోని సెంట్రల్‌ జైలు ప్రైవేటీకరణ బిల్లుకు ప్రభుత్వ అనుమతి సాధించుకుంటాడు. ఈ క్రమంలోనే భూమి పూజ చేయడానికి ఆ జైలులోకి అడుగు పెట్టిన వామన్‌ను.. అతని బృందాన్ని ఓ ముఠా కిడ్నాప్‌ చేస్తుంది. వాళ్లని అదే జైలులోని ఓ టవర్‌లో బందీ చేస్తారు. ఈ కేసును పరిష్కరించేందుకు ప్రభుత్వం ప్రత్యేక అధికారిగా చరణ్‌ రాజ్‌ (జయరామ్‌)ను రంగంలోకి దించుతుంది. అతను తన పరిశోధనలో జైలుపై దాడి చేసి.. వామన్‌ను అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నది పదేళ్ల క్రితమే చనిపోయిన బిగ్‌ డాడీ (శివ రాజ్‌కుమార్‌) అని తెలుసుకుంటాడు. మరి ఆ బిగ్‌ డాడీ ఎవరు? అతను వామన్‌ను జైలులో ఉన్నప్పుడే లక్ష్యం చేసుకోవాలని ఎందుకు అనుకున్నాడు?(Ghost Telugu Movie Review) ఆ జైలులో ఉన్న వెయ్యి కేజీల బంగారం కథేంటి? పితామహా ఏజెన్సీలోని ఘోస్ట్‌కు.. బిగ్‌ డాడీకి ఉన్న లింకేంటి? వీళ్లిద్దరూ ఒక్కరేనా? అన్నది సినిమా చూసి తెలుసుకోవాలి.

ఎలా సాగిందంటే: ఇదొక రొటీన్‌ గ్యాంగ్‌స్టర్‌ డ్రామా. పూర్తిగా మాస్‌ ఎలివేషన్లు, యాక్షన్‌ హంగామాని నమ్ముకొని చేసిన ప్రయత్నం. కాకపోతే ఆఖర్లో స్పై థ్రిల్లర్‌ టచ్‌ ఇచ్చి ఆసక్తిరేకెత్తించేలా చేశారు. కానీ, దానికి ముందు సినిమా అంతా ‘కేజీయఫ్‌’, ‘జైలర్‌’ సినిమాలను గుర్తు చేసే రెగ్యులర్‌ మాస్‌ యాక్షన్‌ హంగామాతోనే సాగుతుంది. కట్టుదిట్టమైన భద్రతతో ఉండే జైలులోనే ఓ మాజీ సీబీఐ అధికారిని హీరో కిడ్నాప్‌ చేయడం.. మొత్తం పోలీసు వ్యవస్థను ముప్పుతిప్పలు పెట్టి.. వాళ్లకు చిక్కకుండా తన లక్ష్యం నెరవేర్చుకొని బయటపడటం.. ఇదీ క్లుప్తంగా ఈ చిత్ర కథాంశం. ఇలాంటి కథలకు స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే చాలా కీలకం. ముఖ్యంగా హీరోకు.. పోలీసులకు మధ్య నడిచే మైండ్‌ గేమ్‌ ఎంత ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉంటే ప్రేక్షకులకు అంత థ్రిల్‌ దొరుకుతుంది. (Ghost Telugu Movie Review) ఈ విషయంలో ‘ఘోస్ట్‌’ కొంత వరకే సఫలమైంది. వామన్‌ శ్రీనివాసన్‌ను బిగ్‌ డాడీ బృందం జైలులో ఎటాక్‌ చేసే ఎపిసోడ్‌తో సినిమా ఆసక్తికరంగా మొదలవుతుంది. ఈ క్రమంలో వచ్చే హీరో ఎలివేట్‌ సీన్స్‌ అన్నీ వావ్‌ అనిపిస్తాయి. ఈ కిడ్నాప్‌ కేసును పరిష్కరించేందుకు ప్రభుత్వం చరణ్‌ రాజ్‌ను రంగంలోకి దించడంతో కథ వేగం పుంజుకుంటుంది. కానీ, ఆ తర్వాత కథనమంతా ఆ జైలు గోడల మధ్యే ఇరుక్కుని, అక్కడక్కడే తిరుగుతుంది. జైలులో ఉన్న బిగ్‌ డాడీ ముఠాను పట్టుకునేందుకు చరణ్‌ రాజ్‌ టీమ్‌ వేసే ఎత్తులు.. వాటిని ఎంతో తెలివిగా బిగ్‌ డాడీ చిత్తు చేసే తీరు ఆసక్తిరేకెత్తిస్తాయి. (Ghost Telugu Movie Review) ఈ మధ్యలో కథానాయికకు.. ఆమె తండ్రికీ మధ్య వచ్చే సెంటిమెంట్‌ ట్రాక్‌ సహనానికి పరీక్ష. వీటి మధ్యలో వామన్‌ శ్రీనివాసన్‌ గతాన్ని పరిచయం చేస్తూ.. అసలు కథలోకి తీసుకెళ్లే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. బిగ్‌ డాడీ టీమ్‌పై కమాండోలతో చరణ్‌ రాజ్‌ చేయించే ఆపరేషన్‌.. డాడీ చెరలో బందీగా ఉన్న వామన్‌ను తప్పించేందుకు జైలులోని కరుడుగట్టిన నేరస్థులతో కలిసి సత్యరాజ్‌ చేసే ప్రయత్నం ఆసక్తిరేకెత్తిస్తాయి. విరామ సన్నివేశాలు ద్వితీయార్ధంపై మరింత ఉత్సుకత కలిగించేలా చేస్తాయి.

బిగ్‌ డాడీ గతమేంటి.. అతను వామన్‌ శ్రీనివాసన్‌ను ఎందుకు లక్ష్యం చేసుకున్నాడు.. జైలులోని వెయ్యి కేజీల బంగారం కథేంటి.. దాన్ని బిగ్‌ డాడీ ఎలా బయటకు తీసుకెళ్లగలిగాడు? అన్న అంశాల చుట్టూ ద్వితీయార్ధం సాగుతుంది. బిగ్‌ డాడీ గతం.. సీఏం కొడుకును అతని కళ్ల ముందే చంపే ఎపిసోడ్‌ ఆసక్తిరేకెత్తిస్తాయి. (Ghost Telugu Movie Review) అలాగే చరణ్‌ రాజ్‌కు.. బిగ్‌ డాడీకీ మధ్య వచ్చే గతానికి సంబంధించిన వార్నింగ్‌ ఎపిసోడ్‌ కూడా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. పోలీసుల్ని ఛాలెంజ్‌ చేసి జైలులోని బంగారాన్ని బిగ్‌ డాడీ బయటకు తీసుకెళ్లే తీరు ‘కిక్‌’ క్లైమాక్స్‌ను గుర్తు చేసేలా ఉంటుంది. పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో బిగ్‌ డాడీ అవతారం వెనకున్న మరో కోణం బయటకొస్తుంది. అది బలవంతంగా ఇరికించిన ట్రాక్‌లా అనిపిస్తుంది. ఈ కథలోని చాలా కీలక ప్రశ్నల్ని సీక్వెల్‌ కోసం అలాగే వదిలేశారు. ఫలితంగా సినిమాని ముగించిన తీరు సంతృప్తిగా అనిపించదు.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే: శివరాజ్‌ కుమార్‌ ఇందులో రెండు కోణాలున్న పాత్రలో కనిపిస్తారు. సినిమా ఆద్యంతం కళ్లతోనే భావోద్వేగాలు పలికిస్తూ ముందుకు నడిపించారు. ఆయన స్టార్‌డమ్‌ను దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకొని దర్శకుడు యాక్షన్‌ సీక్వెన్స్‌ను స్టైలిష్‌గా తీర్చిదిద్దిన విధానం బాగుంది. పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో టెక్నాలజీ సాయంతో యంగ్‌ శివన్నను చూపించారు. ఆయా సీన్స్‌ ఆయన అభిమానులకు ఆనందాన్నిస్తాయి. పోలీస్‌ అధికారిగా చరణ్‌ రాజ్‌ పాత్రలో జయరామ్‌ చక్కటి నటన కనబరిచారు. (Ghost Telugu Movie Review) అర్చనా జోయిస్‌ పాత్ర కథకు స్పీడ్‌ బ్రేకర్‌లా అడ్డుతగులుతుంటుంది. సత్య ప్రకాశ్, ప్రశాంత్‌ నారాయణన్‌ తదితరుల పాత్రలు పరిధి మేరకు ఉన్నాయి. దర్శకుడు ఎంచుకున్న కథలో కొత్తదనమున్నా.. దాన్ని ఆసక్తికరంగా తెరపైకి తీసుకురావడంలో తడబడ్డాడు. యాక్షన్‌ సీక్వెన్స్‌ను మాత్రం స్టైలిష్‌గా డిజైన్‌ చేసుకున్నారు. యాక్షన్‌ సీన్లకు అర్జున్‌ జన్య అందించిన నేపథ్య సంగీతం హీరోయిజం ఎలివేట్‌ చేసేలా ఉంది. ఛాయాగ్రహణం బాగుంది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు ఉన్నతంగా ఉన్నాయి.

After appearing in films like Shaakuntalam, Vakeel Saab, and Mallesham, Ananya Nagalla is back to playing the main lead in today’s release Tantra. The spooky thriller directed by Srinivas Gopisetti has been released today. The film also marks the comeback of actress Saloni.

Rekha(Ananya Nagalla) lives with her strict father after her mother passes away. One fine day, she starts seeing evil spirits and gets disturbed a lot in her life. On the other hand, Rekha is in love with Teja(Dhanush Raghumudri) who finds out that someone is doing tantric pooja against Rekhan. Who is the man behind these Poojas? Why did he select Rekha as his target? What is Rekha’s flashback? and what did Teja do to save Rekha? The answers to all these questions can be known by watching the film.

Performances

Ananya Nagalla gets a meaty role and she impresses with her performance. Though she could have elevated the emotions a bit more, she has given the best of her capability. In a few scenes related to the tantric Pooja, Ananya showcases varied emotions. Saloni makes a strong comeback. Though her character does not get much screen time, the talented actress gives a solid performance. Temper Vamsi, who plays the bad guy is impressive with his crazy looks and crazy screen presence. Dhanush Raghumudri, who plays the lead is just about okay in the narrative.

Technical Aspects

The production values of Tantra are decent. One needs to appreciate the camerawork as it showcases the Tantric culture in the film decently. RR Dhruvan has composed the music for this film and the songs are ordinary. But his BGM is decent. As there is not much depth in the scenes, even he could not do much. The writing is strong on paper but execution is silly and boring. The production design was okay and so were the dialogues. The editing could have been a lot better in the second half to make matters better for the audience.

Lack of horror thrills Slow pace Over-the-top emotions

A lot of films on black magic are being made these days and Tantra falls in the same category. Director Srinivas Gopisetti pens a decent horror thriller with enough twists but the way he executes them leaves a lot to be desired. There are multiple chapters in Tanta and each of them has its significance. The director has planned things in such a way that he wanted to thrill the audience from scene one but that does not happen one bit.

Director Srinivas Gopisetti has executed the scenes related to Tantric learnings and black magic decently. But how they are connected on an emotional note in the story is not satisfactory. The proper reason why the character of Ananya Nagalla sees ghosts time and again is not showcased properly. Tantra has massive pacing issues. Each episode takes forever to register with the audience and the one that does has some issues or the other with the story.

Tantra has scenes that are predictable from the word go. Barring the key twist, the rest of the proceeding can be predicted by anyone. The scenes related to Saloni’s marriage bore you instantly. Director Srinivas has saved his best for the pre-climax and he unleashes his cards only in the last twenty minutes. But by then, the audience is vexed and bored to see the same old spooky scenes.

Finally, Ananya Nagalla needs to wait a bit longer to register herself as a bankable actress as the so-called horror elements also do not work one bit and overshadow her performance in Tantra. Script-wise, there was so much that Srinivas Gopisetti could have done to keep the audience on their toes but he chose a dull screenplay and slow pace to narrate his story hence making Tantra a disappointing watch this weekend.

Bottom Line – Lacks basic thrill

Vijay is a huge superstar in Tamil, but has a very nominal market in Telugu. He tried to venture into Tollywod with the film Snehitulu, but to his bad luck failed to capitalize. Now yet again, he is back with his Diwali release Thuppakki in the direction of creative genius Murugadoss. After some delay in its release, Thuppaki has manged to hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is. Story:

Jagdish, who is a secret agent in Indian army comes to his native place during his holidays. His parents get him engaged to Nisha(Kajal Agarwal) and the couple start spending some quality time together. When everything seems to be going fine Jagish visits Mumbai. During his stay, a huge bomb blast occurs and Jagdish chases down the culprit and interrogates him severely. To his surprise, he comes to know that there are many more bombs that have been planted right through the entire city. Rest of the story is how Jagdish manages to chase down the other terrorists, and save the whole city from huge devastation.

Plus Points:-

Vijay is undoubtedly the major asset to the film. Unlike his mass image, he plays a mature character and carries it with ease. He plays his role with lot of conviction, and is terrific in the investigative scenes. His body language, comedy timing and look are perfect in Thuppakki. Though Kajal Agarwal has nothing much to do in the film, she complimented Vijay very nicely in the dances. Kajal is particularly good in the Google song.

Vidyut Jamwal is impressive as the bad guy. Scenes just before the interval involving the killing of terrorists, have been shot exceptionally well. Interaction scenes between the hero and the villain and the mind games associated with them, have been designed exceptionally. Some scenes in the pre-climax are worth a mention and  make you stick to your seats.

Minus Points:-

Chemistry between Vijay and Kajal is completely lacking in this film. All the scenes, songs and romantic track sometimes cause a big hindrance to the film. Timing of the songs is also not up to the mark. The mass masala elements which the regular movie goer associates with a hero like Vijay is missing here.

Technical Aspects:-

The music of the film is pretty average. As the combination of Murugadoss and Harris Jayraj are known for some foot tapping music, it is completely missing from this film. Background score is pretty good and is exceptional in all investigation scenes. Santosh Sivan’s camera work is good. Screenplay is nice. Some scenes between Vijay and Kajal could have been completely chopped off to make this film more gripping. Vijay’s dubbing is apt and suits the nativity well.

On the whole, Thuppakki is one film which has everything going right for it. A stylish Vijay, some exceptional thrilling moments and edge of the seat action makes this film surely worth a watch. Finally, one can say that yet another Tamil hero has successfully managed to capture the hearts of Telugu audience.

"Ghostlight," which focuses on a construction worker drawn into a production of "Romeo and Juliet," is a drama about traumatized people healing themselves with art. It's messy in the way that life is messy. It's one of those movies that simultaneously feels too long and not long enough. But there's a purity and earnestness to what it's doing that's increasingly unusual in American independent cinema. 

Co-directed by the Chicago-based filmmaking team of Kerry O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson (O'Sullivan wrote the script), the story focuses on a family played by an actual family of working actors. The father, Dan ( Keith Kupferer ), is a construction worker. He lives in a suburban neighborhood with his wife, Sharon ( Tara Mallen ), and their teenage daughter, Daisy ( Katherine Mallen Kupferer ). This is a troubled family. You can see that long before the movie reveals all the pieces of their trouble and lets you examine them. 

Some viewers will be irritated by one of the qualities I found most intriguing about "Ghostlight": you don't really know what this family's "deal" is, so to speak, until fairly deep in the film (I won't say what it is; suffice to say it's an unimaginable loss). For quite a long time, you can't figure out why they're all acting the way they are. Dan is sullen and a bit of a space case at work. He has a hair-trigger temper that suddenly erupts through his personal fog and causes severe problems. Daisy also has a temper and is being disciplined for an outburst at her school. She uses profanity in settings where nobody uses profanity and doesn't care that a taboo is being violated. Sharon is a dutiful, attentive wife and mom who seems to be hanging on by a thread. In due time, you get little details about what happened to them, and the more you learn, the more you start to feel the weight of it yourself.

Dolly De Leon, a breakout in " Triangle of Sadness ," plays Rita, an actress in the aforementioned local troupe who gets to know Dan because his crew is doing loud construction near the theater and ends up being his entry point into a very low-budget community theater production of "Romeo and Juliet." Even though Rita is in her 50s, she's playing Juliet, and when the much younger actor playing Romeo complains that it feels weird, Dan, who stumbled into the group, gets recruited to fill in. 

This is, unfortunately, the source of some of the film's weakest moments. Dan is embarrassed both by getting involved in theater (he's a strong-silent macho guy, for the most part) but also because it's a romantic role that involves kissing (there's a wonderful bit where the troupe's director Lanora, played by Hanna Dworkin , apologizes for not being able to afford an intimacy coordinator, then guides the two actors through some basic intimacy exercises for the stage). It's not so much the fact of Dan keeping his secret life a secret as the way that they expose it, which would've been a "big laugh" moment on a sitcom, and that doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about who's doing the discovering and what's in the room when the moment happens. There is a sitcom tendency to a few scenes, many of them involving Daisy, who's played by the younger Kupferer in a way that answers the question, "What if Joan Cusack and Nicolas Cage had a baby?" I.e., there's an innate bigness to her acting even when she's small.

But that also turns out to be the wellspring of many of the film's delights. Daisy is a Force-of-Nature type character, barreling through everyone's life like a petite tornado. Not only do you get used to her after a while, but you begin to appreciate that she (and the actress inhabiting her) never come at a scene or moment in quite the way you might expect. She's so intense that even when her character is silently observing another character, waiting for her turn to speak, or just being part of a bigger moment, the eye is naturally drawn to her, because you know she's thinking of five or six things at once.

The apple must not have fallen far from the tree(s): both the elder Kupferer and Mallen unpack previously hidden layers in Mom and Dad, and avoid obvious reactions and readings. Mallen has a strong scene near the end where Sharon chastises her husband for playing the hero while she's doing the family's grunt work that will ring uncomfortably true for many viewers. Daddy Kupferer, meanwhile, plays sadness in a way that's refreshingly realistic. You understand why nobody around Dan understands the depths of his sorrow or can recognize the symptoms of a man who's constantly on the edge of either cratering or exploding. 

There were a fair number of English and Australian comedy-dramas made twenty to thirty years ago that explored the liberating and transformative power of art in the lives of people who never thought of themselves as creative, including " The Full Monty " and " Brassed Off ." Patrick Wang's recent masterpieces "A Bread Factory Part 1" and "A Bread Factory Part 2" explored similar material in a more formally audacious way. "Ghostlight" is an honorable entry in that tradition. The movie has the good sense to let the actors articulate the meanings themselves by inhabiting the characters. It shows us their emotions rather than weighing everybody down with exposition or thematically reductive speeches that distill profundity into a bumper sticker or a meme. 

"Ghostlight" doesn't capitalize on all the rich possibilities of its premise. It would not surprise me to learn that there's a three- or four-hour cut in the filmmakers' draft folders. But I don't think it's lesser for failing to do everything it theoretically could have done. It seems to have been made intuitively, and it's definitely onto something in how it expresses itself. It tests your patience early but becomes powerful as it goes along. The last thirty minutes hit hard, partly because you can't precisely map all the different meanings and associations it calls up. You just have to let it be the thing it's turning into, then make the decision to bond with it and let its emotions become yours.  

Some of the elements that might initially seem odd become the source of great strength for the movie as drama, like the fact that the troupe has cast two middle-aged people as Romeo and Juliet (which might get older viewers to thinking about how the mind doesn't age in the way that the body does) or the very idea that Romeo and Juliet would be the Shakespeare play that would connect this family to their grief in a way that would help them process it. 

Turns out this was the right play for the family and the film that follows them. One of the many mysterious and wonderful things about art is that under the right circumstances, and thanks to the right group of talented people, you can become immersed in a piece that outwardly has zero connection to the details of your own life and suddenly realize, "Oh, my God—that's me up there."

గౌతముడు, అహల్య రాయిగా మారడం వంటి మైథాలజీ స్టోరీతో తంతిరం సినిమా చాలా ఆసక్తిగా ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది. డ్రింక్ చేసేందుకు ఓ చోట కూర్చుని తన ఫ్రెండ్స్‌తో విజయ్ అనే యువకుడు హారర్ స్టోరీ చెబుతూ కథలోకి తీసుకెళ్లారు. దానికంటే ముందు అలాడిన్ వద్ద ఉండే జీనీ వంటి వారు అయిన జెన్‌ల నేపథ్యం చాలా ఆసక్తికరంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. అలా కథలోకి ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌గా తీసుకెళ్లిన డైరెక్టర్ మెయిన్ పాయింట్ చెప్పడానికి కాస్తా టైమ్ తీసుకున్నారు.

తండ్రి ఇచ్చే ట్విస్ట్

సినిమా స్టోరీ చాలా బాగున్నా బోరింగ్‌గా అనిపిస్తుంది. సినిమా నిడివి మొత్తం గంటన్నర ఉన్నప్పటికీ పెద్దగా థ్రిల్లింగ్‌గా, ఎంగేజింగ్‌గా ఉండవు. ప్రారంభంలో చెప్పిన పది నిమిషాలు ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌గా ఉండటంతో ఏం జరుగుతుందో అని చివరి వరకు ఎదురుచూడాల్సి వస్తుంది. మధ్యలో కొంత ఆసక్తిగా ఉన్నా క్లైమాక్స్‌లోనే ఏం జరిగిందనేది తెలుస్తుంది. దాదాపు గంటలోపు సినిమా చెప్పేయొచ్చు. అయితే, తండ్రి అదీబన్ విషయంలో వచ్చే ట్విస్ట్ ఊహించలేం.

అసలు కథ అప్పుడే

క్లైమాక్స్ ట్విస్ట్ కూడా ఓకే. సినిమాలో చాలా వరకు ప్రశ్నలు తలెత్తుతాయి. వాటన్నింటికి చాప్టర్ 2లో రివీల్ చేస్తామని మూవీ ఎండింగ్‌లో చెప్పారు. అంటే, దీనికి సీక్వెల్ ఉందన్నమాట. ఇక అజయ్ అరసాడ బీజీఎమ్ బాగుంది. పాటలు పర్వాలేదు. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ, సాంకేతిక విలువలు కూడా ఓకే. శ్రీకాంత్, ప్రియాంక, అవినాష్ నటన బాగుంది. ప్రియాంక అందంగా కనిపించింది. తమ పాత్రలకు అంతా న్యాయం చేశారు.

He usually makes movies about neurotic New Yorkers. Now he’s made one with Swedish metal band Ghost

It’s been nearly 20 years since the world was first graced by Ghost, the theatrical Swedish metal act with a seemingly satanist bent. A far cry from small-town Linköping, where frontman and chief creator Tobias Forge first began writing and recording songs, the band now has five studio albums, several EPs, a Grammy and enough lore to occupy an entire occult bookshelf.

Despite all these achievements, a concert film remained a distant thought to Forge, who noted that the group was reluctant to commit.

“We’ve shied away from making one,” the 43-year-old singer says on a video call from Stockholm, almost relishing in his stubbornness. “Basically, as soon as we get the question from festivals, ‘Can we film the show?’ No. ‘Can we somehow broadcast that?’ No. Forget about it, we don’t want to do that.”

“The longer it took for us to make a film, the more I knew that this was something that was going to be worth sitting on,” he adds.

It wouldn’t be until Forge crossed paths with indie film director Alex Ross Perry that a movie, “Rite Here Rite Now” (in theaters Thursday) would come to fruition. To call this turn of events unexpected would be an understatement — the 39-year-old Perry is more recognizable for his character-driven dramas about neurotic New Yorkers ( “Listen Up Philip,” “Golden Exits” ) than for filming fist-pumping spectacles at the Kia Forum.

But, crucially, he also happened to be an admirer.

“I was a fan before I thought we would ever collaborate,” Perry says via Zoom from New York, only occasionally interrupted by his young daughter. “And I remain a fan of the aesthetics, the merchandise, the story-building and the music.”

He’d heard ramblings about their “real deal” status and made it a point to check them out in 2017, when Ghost opened up for Iron Maiden at the Barclays Center. Needless to say, he swooned.

“We love that theatricality,” Perry says of the show and Forge’s overall penchant for grand gestures. “He’s obviously loved it his whole life.”

In between films, Perry began working with Ghost’s record label Loma Vista and eventually threw his hat into the ring for any potential projects. First it was the band’s 2022 April Fool’s Day film “Metal Myths: Ghost Pt. 2,” then a free pop-up exhibit at Los Angeles’ legendary Whisky a Go Go.

By 2023 and the tail end of Ghost’s 20-month world tour for their most ambitious album, “Impera,” the time was finally right to capture their live experience on film. Perry was ready. Of course, it helped that they had 10,000 concertgoers packing the Kia Forum to the brim.

“We knew once we finally came out with a concert movie, it’s going to be something that the fans have waited for,” Forge says. “So you better make it count.”

Ghost would seem to be a director’s dream. Forge stalks the stage in white face paint, a dapper, demonic menace. The musicians all wear face-obscuring masks, a constant throughout Ghost’s several incarnations. (They’re referred to as Nameless Ghouls.) Forge’s Catholic iconography-inspired costumes, designed by Bea Åkerlund, add a controversial mystique. An embroidered “666” adorns the sleeve of one of his anti-Pope outfits. Topping even the pyrotechnic glam-rock traditions of KISS and hair metal, this particular show features dancers dressed as skeletons and massive stained-glass windows that loom behind the band for the entire set.

Sometimes Ghost’s shtick isn’t welcome. A crowd of protesters gathered outside of a September 2023 show in The Woodlands, Texas, hoisting signs that read “Defamation is not free speech” and “I’m Catholic — stop attacking my faith.” The non-fans put their outrage on full display.

“I think it’s sad,” Forge says of such incidents. “We’re not there to cause controversy. We’re there to entertain people. The point is not for kids to make their parents angry — that never was.”

Forge has a reluctance to explain too much. When Ghost gained momentum shortly after the release of their 2010 debut, “Opus Eponymous,” he found that other bands were drowning their fans with constant social media updates.

“I did not want to communicate at all,” Forge recalls. “I want to get people thinking and fantasizing about things — I don’t want to f— tell them.”

Coming into a gig that already had a strong visionary in place (but one who needed structural help), Perry had been tasked with “story surgery,” hammering out Forge’s buildup of ideas about the mythos and a screenplay and putting them to paper. When it came down to the actual filming, both parties agreed on a practical approach. Not only had L.A. always been a second home to Forge, it was also where the band had scheduled back-to-back shows in September. They’d need two shows because, on at least one of those nights, per Forge, something would no doubt go wrong. (It helped that all of the on-site filming was done by live concert director Jim Parsons, a producer for Coldplay, Genesis and Ed Sheeran.)

On Perry’s end, he insisted all the film’s postproduction be done in his hometown of New York City to not go above budget.

“If I have to do it in L.A., no, you can’t do anything for the budget you have,” Perry says. “If I have to do it in Stockholm, no, I don’t know anybody. If I can do this in New York, my way will bring this in for exactly what you want to spend.”

This resulted in all of the film’s “backstage” scenes being shot there as well, where he created an entire set to mesh seamlessly with the Kia Forum. “It has gear cases, about one couch and some folding chairs,” Perry says of the real backstage at the Forum. “Tobias wanted his grand baroque, red-velvet-curtain, chandelier, Phantom of the Opera-looking set.”

Those scenes play a crucial role in the film, adding breaks to the nearly two hours of performance.

In one sequence, Forge goes through an outfit change backstage, emerging in a bedazzled boxing robe. The camera follows him through the crowd and ends up capturing footage later edited to resemble a UFC or WBA walkout. It doesn’t play a huge part in the grand scheme of the film, but it shows that Forge and Perry were clearly having fun behind the camera — more than willing to experiment with something goofy yet befitting of Ghost’s style.

“[Forge] makes these incredible albums that fans love, with these wonderful songs that fill up arenas,” Perry says. “Then, on the other hand, he makes these very slapsticky comedy sketches, and he’s inexplicably managed to combine these two into the super-project.”

And that’s the glue: Perry and Forge come from entirely different worlds but manage to make a film that both encapsulates the overall grandeur of Ghost and also doesn’t take itself too seriously. Perry credits editor Robert Kolodny, whom he calls a wizard. “He spent two months with me making the most arcane Ghost documentary-mockumentary possible,” says the director.

Ghost may not have Beyoncé or Taylor Swift numbers, but there’s a strong and loyal fan base behind them that knows how to show up for the band. To watch “Rite Here Rite Now,” every other concertgoer seems dressed head-to-toe in nun attire. Others headbang behind black-and-white face paint, mirroring their idol.

Will there be another collaboration between Ghost and Perry? “Why not?” Forge says. Regardless, it will be years before we see it.

In the meantime, fans of the director won’t have to wait as long. He has another music-related film in the works. Though Perry’s relationship with Ghost spans nearly a decade, his work with the revered alt-rock band Pavement goes all the way back to 1999. The group called upon him to direct the music video for its viral hit “Harness Your Hopes.” Perry also directed its “Slanted! Enchanted! A Pavement Musical” in 2022.

He is now finishing a full-fledged Pavement biopic, “Pavements.”

“It’s largely been the bane of my existence,” Perry joked. “It could not be more different than [“Rite Here Rite Now”], but it’s two different sides of the same brain waves of musical storytelling.” Perry confirms to The Times that the edit is picture-locked.

Ghost, meanwhile, will inevitably rock on, shaking stadiums and pissing off Sunday churchgoers along the way. As far as live acts go, they’re one of the best in the business — and now they have the movie to prove it.

“I figured I better get things in order and tell the story,” Forge says of the concert film, which, while often deafening, strikes notes of community and kindness. “Because people are listening, you might as well tell them something important.”

‘Ghostlight’ Review: With Patient Ears, Attend

The film is a gentle, emotional drama about a family struggling to stay together. It’s also about the power of theater.

The therapeutic value of theater is no secret. Everything from role play to full-out drama can be part of the health practitioners’ toolbox. But even a young person who finds themselves sobbing onstage in a role in the high school play knows there’s something regenerative about stepping into someone else’s shoes for a while.

That’s the gist of “Ghostlight,” named for the single bulb often left burning in a theater when all the rest of the lights are shut off, keeping it from total darkness. If that sounds like a metaphor, it is. There are metaphors aplenty in “Ghostlight,” written by Kelly O’Sullivan (“ Saint Frances ”) and directed by O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson. The pair are partners , with a young child, which is worth noting mostly because “Ghostlight” centers on a family rocked by tragedy and brought together by theater. (O’Sullivan is an alumna of the school at Chicago’s eminent Steppenwolf Theater Company — this is familiar territory for her.)

The story centers on Dan (Keith Kupferer), a stoic construction worker who is trying to hold his family, and himself, together after the tragic death of a teenage son, the details of which the movie at first keeps us from knowing, for reasons that eventually become clear. His wife, Sharon (Tara Mallen), is a teacher, and their teenage daughter Daisy (Katherine Mallen Kupferer) is a theater kid with a belligerent streak. It’s obvious the family isn’t OK. It’s volatile, stressful work to stay afloat.

After Daisy gets herself suspended from school, Dan is about at his limit, and after an outburst at work he gets put on leave, too. He doesn’t want to tell his family. A serendipitous encounter with an onlooker named Rita (Dolly De Leon) leads him into an unexpected place: a rehearsal for a local production of “Romeo and Juliet,” which has just lost a player. Rita badgers him into reading lines for a day. He keeps coming back.

It’s a gentle story, full of tender moments, and knowing that the parents and daughter in the main cast are a family in real life increases the warmth. There’s a complexity to their conversations, the way their interactions are never one-note (as parents and teens often are in films), that you can sense has its roots in real life. By the end of the film, their emotional bond carries the story. Have a few tissues on hand.

Horror thrillers with a touch of suspense seem to be the new formula for Tollywood lately. Srikanth Sriram who is well known to the Telugu audience for his entertainers and action films has tried horror for the first time. He arrived with 'Pindam' which created a lot of interest. The promotional content generated good buzz on this film written and directed by Saikiran Daida. Let us see how this film turned out by diving into the review right away.

A Christian family of Anthony (Sriram), his wife Mary (Kushee) and children Sophie and Tara along with their grandmother travel to Suklapet as Anthony gets a job in a rice mill. With Mary being pregnant, Anthony is looking after everyone. After a few strange incidents in the new house, Tara gets possessed by a ghost and harms herself. Scared by this, Anthony calls Annamma (Eeshwari Rao), an exorcist to find out the reason for all these happenings and to come up with a solution. What happens after that forms the crux of the film.

Horror thrillers may not need a lot of budget to be made but they need very capable writing in order to impress the audience. This genre majorly depends on thrills and chills in the right amount to keep the audience glued to their scenes. The execution needs to be almost perfect as the thriller factor gets spoiled quite easily if the taking fails to hit the mark. 'Pindam' is a film that created interest among the viewers with its promotional content. This horror drama manages to impress you in parts and the makers were partly in successful in what they tried to deliver.

'Pindam' gets off to a very interesting start and the opening itself draws your attention. The characters are introduced in a decent manner and we have an eerie feeling as we expect something might happen soon. But the first half moves at a snail pace and the dull proceedings play the spoilsport. The scenes in the house and the possessed scenes offer nothing new and we expect the horror scenes a mile away. A few portions even remind us of films that we have watched before. But the drama gets built up which leads to a lot of questions. The twists and thrills don't excite you and the interval sequence should have been executed in a better manner.

But the film gets better in the second half. The performances of the actors lift 'Pindam' to a certain extent and the emotional scenes are where the movie really impresses the audience. The flashback portions work out as well despite being predictable. As we know, backstory needs to be strong in horror films in order to connect with the audience and 'Pindam' manages to do that. But a lot of threads that were built impressively get bogged down by flat conclusions. Also, there are not many scares in the movie as the trailer promised a lot of them. While the first half moves on a dull note and tests the patience to a certain extent, the graph of the movie rises in the second half. A few scares, good performances, a decent flashback and emotions work in favour of this film which would otherwise prove to be a subpar film.

Performances:

It is quite interesting to see Sriram in such a film. He delivers the regular acting we see in horror films with ease. His expressions showing fear and worry are quite convincing. His character is quite passive throughout the first half but he gets a chance to display his emotional performance in a few portions of the second half. He does what's required of him and nothing extraordinary.

Kushee Ravi is fine as a pregnant woman. He had a full-fledged role but she did not get any scenes to prove her acting capability. The actors who played the kids' roles were great and they pulled off the possessed scenes quite well. Eeshwari Rao brings a lot of depth and her look was well designed. Her acting elevated a few scenes. Avasarala Srinivas had a brief role and he was fine. The rest of the actors were just okay.

Technicians:

Technical support is very important for such films. The music gives an eerie feeling right from the beginning and makes sure that the audiences get hooked instantly. The background music is decent throughout the film and gives the necessary impact. The sound effects are a bit scary in some places. The songs are completely forgettable.

The visuals are good and the lighting is well done since most of the film happens indoors. The moody visuals and mystic mood definitely helped the proceedings. The editing should have been better as the film feels a bit dragged in some places. The CG effects are quite normal. The writer-director Saikiran Daida started off the film quite well but the film fizzles out by the end. His narration lacked pace and the scares were inadequate. He managed to extract good performances from the actors and handled the emotional scenes capably too.

Verdict: 'Pindam' - An OK Horror Flick With Predictability!
