Und das ist eigentlich schnell erklärt: Ein Essay ist ein Aufsatz bzw. eine kurze literarische Abhandlung , in der sich der Autor kritisch mit einem bestimmten Thema auseinandersetzt.

Sowohl der Aufbau als auch der Sprachstil sind dabei etwas offener und freier als bei einer klassischen wissenschaftlichen Arbeit.

Tipp: Bei einem Essay handelt es sich um das englische Gegenstück zur deutschen Erörterung . Wenn du die also bereits kennst, bist du beim Thema Essay schon einen ganzen Schritt weiter!

Für gewöhnlich betrachtest du in einem Essay aus subjektiver Sicht heraus aktuelle Fragestellungen und Probleme .

Diese stammen meist aus dem kulturellen oder dem gesellschaftlichen Bereich  und du beziehst eine eindeutige Position dazu.

In der Schule begegnet dir das Essay zum ersten Mal für gewöhnlich in der 7. bzw. 8 Klasse . Dort werden zunächst einmal die verschiedenen Schreibarten und  das Schreiben von Erörterungen eingeführt.

Dabei lernst du, kurz und prägnant zu deinen Betrachtungsweisen Stellung zu beziehen und diese mit Argumenten zu untermauern. Diese Fähigkeit wird dann in den kommenden Jahren weiter ausgebaut.

Essay, Article, Comment und Report – Das sind die Unterschiede

Um dir das Thema “Essay” noch weiter zu erleichtern, wollen wir das Essay nun einmal kurz von anderen Textsorten abgrenzen. Dabei wirst du feststellen, dass sie sich zum Teil deutlich voneinander unterscheiden – auch wenn es auf den ersten Blick nicht so aussieht.

Das Essay kennen wir ja jetzt schon: Es ist eine Abhandlung zu einem bestimmten Thema, das du subjektiv analysierst  und kritisch betrachtest.

Neben dem Essay gibt es außerdem noch den sogenannten “ Article “. Mit diesem informierst du Leser über bestimmten Themen oder Events. Einen “Article” (deutsch: Artikel) findest du für gewöhnlich in Zeitungen, Zeitschriften oder online.

Dann hätten wir da noch den Kommentar, “ Comment ” oder “ Commentary ” genannt. Dieser hat einen ähnlichen Aufbau wie ein Essay und besteht aus Einleitung, Hauptteil und Schluss.

Und zu guter Letzte: Der “ Report ” (deutsch: Bericht ). Sein Aufbau ähnelt ebenfalls dem des Essays. Allerdings finden sich in einem “Report” Informationen anstatt einer Argumentation, wie es beim Essay der Fall ist.

Wie schreibt man ein Essay? – Die richtige Vorbereitung

Als nächstes stellt sich natürlich die Frage, wie genau du nun einen Essay schreibst.  Doch bevor du gleich loslegst, solltest du dich zunächst auf das Schreiben vorbereiten. Im Folgenden zeigen wir dir, wie genau du das am besten machst!

Tipp: Dir zuerst deine eigenen Gedanken zu notieren, kann dir das Schreiben erleichtern und dir eine Menge Stress sparen!

Essay Themen – Worüber schreibt man?

Bevor du irgendetwas anderes tust, solltest du dir natürlich zunächst mal ein Thema aussuchen.

Was für ein Thema das ist, kommt zum einen auf dich , zum anderen auf die Aufgabenstellung an. Die meisten Aufgabenstellungen ermöglichen es dir aber, das Thema frei zu wählen. Es ist also fast alles möglich.

Am besten wählst du ein Thema, das dir gefällt und an dem du Spaß hast. Du kannst zum Beispiel etwas wählen, womit du dich bereits auskennst , oder etwas, worüber du schon immer mehr wissen wolltest !

Tipp: Eine Pro-Contra-Analyse kann dir dabei helfen, das richtige Thema zu finden!

Hast du dich für ein Thema entschieden, formulierst du dir als nächstes eine zu diesem Thema passende Fragestellung. Sie sollte möglichst aktuell sein – lass dir hierfür also ruhig ein bisschen Zeit!

Du solltest dir außerdem ganz sicher sein, wenn du dich auf eine Fragestellung festlegst. Theoretisch kannst du sie zwar später noch ändern, dadurch verlierst du aber wertvolle Zeit und musste ganz von vorne anfangen.

Brainstorming

Zuerst solltest du ein Brainstorming machen.

Dabei kommt es darauf an, möglichst viele Ideen und Assoziationen zu einem Thema aufzuschreiben.

Tipp: Beim Brainstorming solltest du nicht allzu viel nachdenken. Schreibe einfach auf, was dir in den Sinn kommt. Du kannst dir zum Beispiel auch ein Zeitlimit setzen, um sicherzustellen, dass du dich nicht zu sehr in deinen Gedanken verlierst.

Schreibe außerdem erstmal alles auf, egal was es ist – wenn es dir in den Sinn kommt, notierst du es dir. In diesem Schritt geht es nämlich noch nicht darum, nur richtige oder wichtige Informationen und Gedanken aufzuschreiben.

Mindmap erstellen

Schritt 3: Erstelle eine Mindmap . Davon hast du sicherlich schon einmal gehört oder es sogar selbst schon gemacht. Falls nicht erklären wir dir hier kurz, wie du dabei vorgehst!

Eine Mindmap ist ein spezielles Diagramm . Es stellt deine Ideen (in diesem Fall aus dem Brainstorming) visuell dar und gibt dir die Möglichkeit, sie thematisch zu ordnen.

Dafür schreibst du das Hauptthema, also deine Fragestellung, in die Mitte eines Blattes. Davon ausgehend ziehst du nun für jede Idee und jedes Argument einen weiteren Strich, die wiederum können sich erneut verzweigen.

Literaturrecherche

Nach Brainstorming und Mindmap geht es schließlich an die Literaturrecherche .

Dafür verschaffst du dir am besten erstmal einen Überblick über die aktuelle Literatur zu dem Thema, dass du für deinen Essay gewählt hast. Die Informationen, die du dabei erhältst, kannst du dann in deinem Essay verwenden.

Tipp: Literatur findest du zum Teil auch Online. Achte aber darauf, dass es sich um wissenschaftliche Literatur handelt! Wikipedia ist für gewöhnlich keine gerngesehene Quelle.

Beim Schreiben ist es dann natürlich wichtig, dass du direkte Zitate entsprechend markierst und mit den richtigen Quellenangaben versiehst. Das musst du immer dann machen, wenn du die Inhalte deines Essays nicht in eigenen Worten  formulierst.

Darauf verzichten kannst du, wenn du deine Inhalte umformulierst, statt sie wörtlich aus den Quellen zu übernehmen.

Essay schreiben – Die perfekte Form

Natürlich gibt es auch beim Essay einige  formale Aspekte  und Vorgaben , die du unbedingt beachten solltest. Im Folgenden wollen wir dir daher all die Dinge vorstellen, auf die du beim Schreiben achten musst!

Inhaltsverzeichnis

Ein Inhaltsverzeichnis musst du in deinem Essay  nicht anlegen! Der Grund dafür: Anders als in einer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit unterteilst du deinen Essay nicht in einzelne Kapitel mit Überschriften.

Stattdessen nutzt du Absätze, um etwas Struktur in den Text zu bringen.

Vielleicht hast du dir diese Frage auch schon gestellt: Wie lang ist so ein Essay eigentlich?

Die Antwort: Es kommt ganz darauf an. Grundsätzlich ist ein Essay mindestens 3 – 5 Seiten lang, kann aber auch  bis zu 10 und mehr Seiten umfassen.

Achte also auf die Aufgabenstellung oder die Vorgaben deiner Lehrer. Sie geben dir die Länge für gewöhnlich vor.

Aber Achtung: Die Länge ist nicht immer in Form einer Seitenanzahl vorgegeben! Es ist auch möglich, dass du stattdessen auf eine bestimmte Anzahl an Wörtern kommen musst.

Wenn du einen Essay schreiben musst, verwendest du für gewöhnlich die Gegenwartsform:  Präsens .

Nur dann, wenn du über etwas sprichst, was in der Vergangenheit liegt, nutzt du das Präteritum .

Achte aber in jedem Fall darauf,  Passivkonstruktionen zu  vermeiden ! Ein Essay sollte immer im  Aktiv geschrieben werden. Das heißt, dass du zum Beispiel “ Sie isst einen Apfel” statt “Ein Apfel wird gegessen ” schreibst.

Perspektive

Der Fokus liegt hier auf den persönlichen Gedanken bzw. der Meinung des Autors und das bist du selbst. Schreibe deinen Essay also immer in der  Ich-Perspektive !

Ausnahme: Du sprichst deinen Leser direkt an. So wie in diesem Artikel, in dem wir dich ansprechen, verwendest du in diesem Fall die  Du-Perspektive .

Alternativ kannst du deine Leser auch mit “Sie” ansprechen – da kommt es ganz darauf an, wie förmlich dein Essay sein soll.

Quellenagaben

Wenn du in deinem Essay direkte Zitate verwendest, musst du die entsprechenden Quellen angeben. Dafür gibt es ganz am Ende des Essays das sogenannte  Quellenverzeichnis , auch  Literaturverzeichnis genannt.

Dort listest du alle Quellen auf, die du in deinem Essay verwendet hast. Dazu gehören auch Onlinequellen, die du im Verzeichnis einfach verlinkst.

Tipp:  Führe das Quellenverzeichnis am besten parallel zum Schreiben des Essays: Wann immer eine neue Quelle dazukommt, trägst du sie gleich ins Verzeichnis ein. So verlierst du nicht den Überblick!

Achte außerdem genau darauf, welche Informationen du zu jeder Quelle notieren musst. Dazu gehören zum Beispiel auch das Erscheinungsjahr und der Verlag, in dem ein Werk erschienen ist.

Bei Onlinequellen musste du außerdem für gewöhnlich angeben, wann genau du die Webseite besucht hast.

Essay Aufbau und Gliederung – Die perfekte Outline

Nach ausgiebiger Vorbereitung geht es nun endlich ans Schreiben. Doch wie genau gehst du da am besten vor? Wir zeigen dir im Folgenden, wie man eigentlich einen Essay schreibt und wie es aufgebaut ist.

Dabei werfen wir einen Blick auf die drei Bestandteile des Essays:

  • Einleitung (“introduction”)
  • Hauptteil (“body”)
  • Schluss (“conclusion”)

Wichtig:  Deine Argumentation sollte unbedingt einem roten Faden folgen, ähnlich einer Sachtextanalyse auf Englisch . Behalte das beim Schreiben immer im Hinterkopf!

Essay Einleitung (Introduction)

Wie viele andere Texte auch, beginnt du beim Essay schreiben mit der Einleitung  (“ introduction “). Sie dient dazu, deine Fragestellung vorzustellen und eine aussagekräftige Behauptung bzw. These aufzustellen.

Dabei begründest du auch gleich, warum genau die Fragestellung relevant für deinen Essay ist.

Tipp: Deine Einleitung hat die Aufgabe, das Interesse des Lesers zu wecken und ihn zum Weiterlesen zu motivieren. Daran solltest du denken, während du die Einleitung formulierst!

Essay Hauptteil (Body)

Der Hauptteil (“ body “) ist das Kernstück des Essays . Er ist gleichzeitig auch der Längste Teil des Essays und  besteht aus 3 – 5 Argumenten , die du hier nachvollziehbar und strukturiert nacheinander aufführst.

Dabei untermauerst du jedes Argument mit den Fakten und Quellen, die du zuvor bei der Literaturrecherche herausgesucht hast. Zusätzlich dazu sollte jedes einzelne deiner Argumente mit einem Beispiel belegt werden.

Deine Argumente kannst du sichtbar voneinander abtrennen, indem du für jedes Argument einen neuen Absatz anfängst. Diese Absätze wiederum werden dann jeweils mit einem Einleitungssatz begonnen.

Tipp : Beim Ausarbeiten deiner Argumente solltest du auf einen sachlichen, aber verständlich Stil achten.

Zum einen solltest du in deinem Essay also keine Umgangssprache verwenden. Zum anderen solltest du aber auch zu viele Fachbegriffe und Fremdwörter vermeiden – das kann Leser abschrecken, vor allem wenn sie sich mit dem Thema noch nicht so gut auskennen.

Du kannst außerdem auch Stilmittel verwenden. Achte dabei aber darauf, dass sie deiner Argumentation dienen!

Essay Schluss (Conclusion)

Zum Schluss kommt der Schluss! Im Schlussteil (“ conclusion “) deines Essays nimmst du noch einmal Bezug auf die in der Einleitung formulierte These oder Behauptung und fasst die wichtigsten Argumente aus dem Hauptteil zusammen.

Folgendes sollte der Schluss beinhalten:

  • Lege noch einmal deine Argumentation aus dem Hauptteil dar
  • Ziehe ein endgültiges Fazit
  • Gib Ausblick auf mögliche zukünftige Fragestellungen zum Thema
  • Rege den Leser zu neuen Denkweisen an
  • Lasse deinen Essay mit einem kritischen Blick Revue passieren

Achte dabei aber darauf, dass der Schluss nicht zu lang wird. Denke also immer daran, hier wirklich nur das Wichtigste aus dem Hauptteil darzulegen.

1.  Thema  – Worüber möchtest du schreiben? Die Vorgaben sind meist sehr locker. Wähle etwas, was dich interessiert 

2.  Brainstorming  Schreibe alles auf, was dir zu deinem ausgewählten Thema einfällt. Achte dabei (noch) nicht auf Wichtigkeit oder Richtigkeit, sondern notiere dir einfach alles, was dir in den Sinn kommt!

3.  Mindmap  erstellen Erstelle eine Mindmap zum Thema. Sie hilft dir dabei, deine Gedanken zu ordnen und schafft Struktur.

4.  Literaturrecherche  Suche dir Literatur zu deinem gewählten Thema heraus. Achte darauf, dass deine Quellen wissenschaftlich (Wikipedia ist tabu, außer es wird ausdrücklich erlaubt!) und möglichst aktuell sind.

In der Einleitung deines Essays stellst du zunächst deine Fragestellung vor und stellst eine Behauptung bzw. These auf. Gehe dabei auch auf die Relevanz der Fragestellung ein und wecke mit deiner Einleitung das Interesse der Leser!

Im Hauptteil führst du deine  Argumente auf. Meistens sind das  3 – 5 .

Untermauere jedes Argument mit deinen Erkenntnissen aus der Literaturrecherche und belege die Argumente jeweils mit einem Beispiel.

Bringe dabei etwas Struktur in deinen Essay, indem du für jedes Argument einen neuen Absatz anfängst, den du mit einem kurzen Einleitungssatz beginnst.

Wichtig : Keine Umgangssprache, aber auch nicht zu viele Fremdwörter und Fachbegriffe!

Im Schlussteil nimmst du noch einmal Bezug zu deiner ursprüngliche These oder Behauptung.

Du legst in Kurzform deine Argumentation aus dem Hauptteil da (beschränke dich auf das Wichtigste!) und ziehst ein endgültiges Fazit.

  • Ein Ausblick auf mögliche zukünftige Fragestellungen zum Thema

An essay is, generally, a piece of writing that gives the authors own argument — but the definition is vague, overlapping with those of a paper, an article, a pamphlet, and a short story. Essays have traditionally been sub-classified as formal and informal.

There are seven steps to writing a successful essay:

Dream is a vision of future. Everyone has dreams and pursues it with sincerity and preservance. “A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Dreams are not what you see in sleep. They are the things that don’t let you sleep”. Just like others, I have also nurtured a career dream from an early age. I aspire and wish to write and publish my works one day. I have never been very good when it came to verbal communication. It is embedded in my nature.

I do not like to be blunt or impolite even when someone says something to me. I choose to remain quiet during such situations. I am also a bit of an introvert and do not like opening up with everyone and that saves lot of my time. I could spare time for myself and brood over happenings. I am a keen observant. I figured out that a it is good way to vent out ones idea and imagination through writing. I began writing and found out that I am actually good at it.

It is hard for me to communicate my feelings verbally however it is quite easy for me to pen them down. Writing for me has now become a way of life I keep journaling all my feelings and this keeps me sorted. It has become more of a passion for me and I now aspire to turn it into my profession. Apart from writing bits and pieces about the happenings in my life, I also love writing stories and will soon come up with my own novel. My family is completely supportive about my career dream. It is rightly said, “Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears”.

School is the temple of learning and gets trained for the professional and social life. My school was set up in 1990 on the donated land with the help of donated money. My school atmosphere is very pleasant and school environment is very clean and attractive. My school building is located in the centre of the play ground. On one side of the school there is a big garden having small pond. There are many colourful fish and other water animals in this pond.

My school is four storey building having classes for nursery to 12th class students. My school has one big library, principal office, head office, clerk office, one science laboratory, one computer lab, one common study room, one big lobby, teacher common room, one big sports ground, separate hostel for girls and boys in the school campus. My school has highly qualified and experienced teachers who teach us in very effective and creative manner.

My school has around one thousand students who always rank higher in the competitions held outside the school or inside the school. We all go to school in the proper uniform. We have two types of the uniform, one common uniform and other house uniform. My school timing starts at 7.50 am in the morning and 1.30 pm in the afternoon in the summer season and 8.50 am in the morning and 3.30 pm in the evening in the winter season. We daily go to the library for sometime where we practice reading creative books and newspaper for enhancing our skill and general knowledge.

Digital India

In the state of fast pacing world, would lag behind, if he does not watch his step. So to make the country a leader that shoulder the global responsibility with vision and smart brain, ‘digital India’ slogan came through a leader who can thrice the young geniuses with constructive approach. Digital India is a project started by the government of India on 1st of July, 2015 (from 1st to 7th of July as digital week) in order to transform India into a complete digitally empowered as well as knowledgeable country of the world. This project is interconnected by the various governmental departments such as IT, education, agriculture, etc in order to achieve a promising bright returns.

It is headed and planned by the ministry of communications and information technology. It is like golden opportunity for India when got implemented properly. In the very starting of the project launch, there was a plan by the state government to make available high speed internet connection in almost 250,000 villages and other residential areas of the country. The crucial role played by the ‘Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL)’ in this project is really appreciable. In the digital India there would be easy digitization of data which will help in making things much more efficient and fast in the future.

It will reduce paper work, save man power and save time as well. This project will take a speed by tying the knot between government and private sectors. Huge number of villages interconnected with high speed network will really undergo a huge change from backward regions to complete digitally equipped areas. All the cities, towns and villages in India will get more tech savvy. The project has been planned to be completed by 2019 with the investment of leading companies (national or international).

Delhi is my city which is beautiful situated on the right of the river Yamuna. It was called by various names Inderprastha is one of them. Delhi is an amalgamation of modernity and tradition. Its rich culture & tradition is restored with dignity and pride. It fascinates the tourist. The web of connectivity in turns of transport, people, heritage; it is a centre of political power.

It keeps on spreading and the regions of those neighbouring states are called NCR (National capital Region). Delhi is famous for its delicious food as it offers wide variety of cuisine. Business centre like Chandni chowk, Cannaught place, Janpath attracts the tourists. My city is one of the most happening cities in the country. Everything here is just awesome. I just wish the government here strengthens women security too.

The celebration of Dussehra indicates the victory of Lord Rama over demon king Ravana. Lord Rama symbolizes truth and Ravana represents evil power. It is a ten days long festival, nine days of which is celebrated by worshipping the goddess Durga and tenth day as Vijay Dashmi when people celebrate the victory of Lord Rama over the demon King, Ravana. Dussehra is the most significant festival of the Hindu religion celebrated all across the country. It falls every year in the month of September or October twenty days earlier to the Diwali festival. It is a great ceremonial and religious festival celebrated by the Hindu people with the worship of goddess Durga.

The tradition and culture of celebrating this festival varies from region to region in the country. A huge preparation for this festival takes place which starts few days earlier to the exact date. A big fair is held for whole ten days or a whole month where people from far regions come to make shops and stalls of all things necessary for the people. It takes place in the Ram-Lila ground in every society or community where a huge fair is held with the dramatic show of legends of Dussehra for all days.

Paper models of the Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath are prepared in the Ram Lila ground and real people play the role of Rama, Sita and Lakshman. Everywhere lights are on and whole environment becomes full of sound of firecrackers. People and kids used to see the fair including Ram-lila whole night. Various important events of the life of Lord Rama are demonstrated by the real people in the Ram Lila. Thousands of men, women and children of the nearby regions get together in the Ram Lila ground to enjoy the show.

Christmas falls every year in the winter season however people celebrate it with lots of joy, activities and happiness. It is one of the most important festival for the Christians of the year which they celebrate doing lots of preparations. The preparations of the celebration start a month ago and celebration ends 12 days after of the Christmas. Christmas is celebrated all across the world by the people, especially people of Christian religion, every year on 25th of December.

It is celebrated on the birth anniversary of the Jesus Christ, God of Christians who founded Christianity. At this day people decorate a Christmas tree, invites their friends, relatives and neighbours to enjoy and distribute gift. Santa Claus come on this day at mid night at 12 pm to everyone’s home and secretly keep gifts for the children in their houses. Children become very happy by getting gifts of their own likes in the early morning. All the schools, colleges, universities, offices and other government and non-government organizations become closed at this day.

Everyone enjoy it as a Christmas holiday by doing lots of activities throughout the day. It brings unity in society, family as it is celebrated in a collective way. People enjoy a big dinner party called feast. They prepare lots of delicious dishes, sweets, fruits, nuts, etc on the dining table. Everyone wear colourful dress, dance, sing, party and enjoy doing other adventurous activities. At this day, Christian people do pray to their God, confess about their all sins and sufferings, sing holy songs and meet each other with love.”

Day Our earlier President, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5th of September so Teacher’s Day in India is being celebrated on his birthday because of his love and affection towards teaching profession. He was a great believer of education and highly famous as the scholar, diplomat, teacher and President of India. Teacher’s Day is a very special occasion for everyone especially for the teachers and students. It is celebrated by the students every year on 5th of September to honour their teachers. 5th of September has been declared as the Teachers day in India. It is his wish to celebrate his birthday as a teacher’s day.

It was considered as a great contribution towards the most dignified profession. Teacher’s day is a great occasion for celebrating and enjoying the relationship between teachers and students. Now a day, it is celebrated with the big enthusiasm and joy in the schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions by both students and teachers. Teachers are given lots of wishes about long life from their students. In the modern time the celebration strategy of the teacher’s day has been standard. Children’s Day

Introduction: Children’s day is celebrated on birth anniversary of the Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. When he realized children as future of country, he declared his birthday to be celebrated as children’s day in order to completely focus and improve the status of children in the country. Children’s day is being celebrated since 1956 on 14th of November every year all over India. Happy childhood make an adult into a confident one.

Children day celebration provides big opportunity to everyone especially neglecting people of the country. It force them to think about future of their children by realizing them duty and responsibility towards children. It makes people aware about the past status of children in the country and what should be real status of them for bright future of country. It is possible only if each and every individual would understand their responsibility towards their children. Various child centimes programmes and scholarships are also started on the day.

How it is celebrated: It is celebrated with lots of activities (related to children to build them ideal citizens) everywhere in the country. Many competitions held in the schools regarding children health in every aspect like physically, mentally and morally. They are given opportunities to spread their wings and fly. Independence Day

Our country India is an ancient land with a glorious history. Our free spirits, rich tradition futuristic ideas made India a coveted land Ambitious Britishers have left the country after so many sacrifices. So it is our pious duty to celebrate this national festival with great pomp and show Independence Day is celebrated by the people of India every year on 15th of August as a National Holiday to commemorate the independence of India from the Kingdom of Great Britain on 15th of August in 1947. At this day, people of India pay heartily homage to the great leaders under their leadership, India became free forever. At this day, people celebrate in their own way by buying tricolour Flag, watching movies based on freedom fighters, listening to patriotic songs, bonding with family and friends, participating in special programmes.

Jawaharlal Nehru became our first Prime Minister after the independence of India on 17th of August 1947 who raised the Flag at Lahore Gate of Red Fort in Delhi and given a speech. This phenomenon is followed by the other subsequent Prime Ministers of India where flag hoisting ceremonies, parades, march past, salute by 21 guns and other cultural events are organized. Other people celebrate this day by raising national flag on their clothes, homes or vehicles. On the midnight of 15th August in 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had announced the independence of India by reading out his speech on “Tryst with destiny”.

He said that after long years of slavery, it is the time when we will redeem our pledge with the end of our ill fortune. India is a country where millions of people live together whether they belong to various religion, cultures or traditions and celebrate this special occasion with great joy. At this day, as being an Indian, we should feel proud and must take an oath to keep ourselves loyal and patriotic in order to save our motherland from any type of attack or humiliation by other countries.

Road Safety

Human resource is always considered as precious for society and economy. To secure life is an asset to the nation. However, its security is compromised when a life is snapped at road. Death or trauma because of accidents end a life. Thus road safety is the prevention and protection of road accidents by using all the road safety measures. It is to secure people while traveling on the roads. Everyone should respect others while driving or walking on the road and take care of their safety. People safety on the road is one of the most important aspects in order to avoid road side accidents, injury, and death.

We can judge the importance of road safety on the basis of national statistical data about total reported accidents and death. Almost 42% cases involve pedestrians and one way road users. There are various methods of creating awareness among common public such as seminars, workshops, students education by adding basic road-safety lessons to syllabus, make people aware about green cross code means stop, look, listen, think and then cross, learning of traffic lights, understanding of road signs, etc.

Human Rights

The UN adopted Universal Declaration of human rights 1948. Human rights is a grave concern as it is considered as Natural right. It is further put into two categories as natural rights and civil rights. Human rights are norms that illustrate certain standards of human behaviour. These are fundamental rights to which every individual is inherently entitled just because he or she is a human being. These rights are protected by law.

Here is a look at some of the basic human rights:

  • Right to Life Every individual has the inherent right to live. Every human being has the right of not being killed by another person.
  • Right to Fair Trial Every person has the right to fair trial by an impartial court. This includes the right to be heard within a reasonable time, right to public hearing and right to counsel.
  • Freedom of Thought, Conscience and Religion Every person has the freedom of thought and conscience. He/she also has the freedom to choose his/her religion and is also free to change it at any time.
  • Freedom from Slavery Slavery and slave trade is prohibited. However, these are still practised illegally in some parts of the world.
  • Freedom from Torture Torture is prohibited under the international law. Every person has freedom from torture.

Other universal human rights include right to liberty and personal security, freedom of speech, right to remedy by competent tribunal, freedom from discrimination, right to nationality and freedom to change it, right to marriage and family, freedom of movement, right to own property, right to education, right of peaceful assembly and association, freedom from interference with privacy, family, home and correspondence, right to participate in government and in free elections, right of opinion and information, right to adequate living standard, right to social security and right to social order that articulates this document. These organizations take steps to protect these rights. If they find violation in it.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a cleanliness drive aimed to cover 4041 statutory cities and town all over India. Swachh Bharat Mission or Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign run by the government of India as a massive mass movement to initiate the theme of cleanliness all through the India. This campaign was launched in seeking the way to create a Clean India target by 2019, 2nd of October means 150th birthday anniversary of the Mahatma Gandhi. The father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi was dreamed to make India a clean India and always put his hard efforts towards swachhta in India.

This is the reason, why Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched on 2nd of October (the birthday of the Mahatma Gandhi). To complete the vision of the father of the nation, Indian government has decided to launch this campaign. The mission has targeted aims like eliminating the open defecation, converting insanitary toilets into pour flush toilets, eradicating manual scavenging, complete disposal and reuse of solid and liquid wastes, bringing behavioural changes to people and motivate health practices, spreading cleanliness awareness among people, strengthening the cleanliness systems in the urban and rural areas as well as creating user friendly environment for all private sectors interested for investing in India for cleanliness maintenance. This mission has an interesting theme of inviting nine new people by each and every involved people in the campaign and continuing this chain until the each and every citizen of India gets involved in this campaign.

Water is present all around the globe in various forms like iceberg snow, sea, river, underground cource, yet water scarcity is always there because if we have 66% of earth covered with water only 3% fresh drinking water is available. Thus save water or conservation of water has been very essential to maintain the existence of life on the earth because no life is possible without water. Water helps in the continuity of life cycle on the earth as an exception in the whole universe According to the conducted by United Nation, it is found that girls in the Rajasthan do not go to school as they have to go long distances to get water which eats their whole day so they do not get time for other purposes.

So we can say that water scarcity is also the reason of illiteracy, suicide, fights and other social issues in India and other developing countries. In such regions of water scarcity, the new generation children are not achieving their basic right to education and right to live happily. As a responsible citizen of India, we should make ourselves aware about all the problems of water scarcity so that we all may take a pledge and join hands together for water conservation.

There is a true saying that a small effort of everyone can give a big result just like many drops of water form a huge water body like pond, river and sea. We do not need to make extra efforts for water conservation, we only need to bring some positive changes in our daily activities like ensure the tight closing of the tap after every use, use of bucket and mug while washing anything or bathing instead of using shower or pipe. A little effort from the end of millions of people can give a big positive result towards the save water campaign

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. It is a very effective scheme aims to improve the number of girl child, save girl child, eradicate female foeticide, give them proper security and education, personal and professional development, etc all over the country. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is a government scheme launched by the PM Narendra Modi on 22nd of January on Thursday, at Panipat, Haryana. This scheme has been launched by keeping in mind the drastic condition of girl child in the Indian society.

According to the statistics, the ratio of girl child per male child (of age group 0-6 years) was 945/1000 in 1991 whereas it remains only 927/1000 in 2001 and again reduced to 918/1000 in 2011. If we see the census report we see that the ratio of girl child is decreasing continuously per each decade. This scheme has been implemented in 100 selected districts of the country (by the joint initiative of ministry of Human Resource Development and Health and ministry of Women and Child Development) through a national campaign in order to cover all the states and UTs.

There are some positive aspect that this scheme would be proved as a great start to remove social issues against girl child. We hope that there would be a day when no girl child would be killed, uneducated, insecure, raped, etc because of socio-economic reasons. Hence, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is aimed to make girls independent both socially and financially by reducing the sex discrimination all over the country.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi was a great freedom fighter who spent his whole life in struggle for the independence of India. He was born in the Indian Hindu family on 2nd of October in 1869 in the Porbander, Gujarat. He lived his whole as a leader of the Indian people. His whole life story is a great inspiration for us. While fighting with Britishers he took help of his great weapons like non-violence and Satyagraha movements to achieve freedom. Many times he got arrested and sent to the jail but he never discourages himself and continued fighting for national freedom.

He truly understood the power of unity in people (from different castes, religions, community, race, age or gender) which he used all through his independence movement. Britishers were forced to quit India forever through his mass movements on 15th of August in 1947. Since 1947, the 15th of August is celebrated every year as the Independence Day in India. After the independence of India in 1947 as he was assassinated by one of the Hindu activists, Nathuram Godse in 1948 on 30th of January. He enlightened our life with a fact that everything is possible with the non-violence and unity of people. Even after getting died many years ago, he is still alive in the heart of every Indian as a “Father of the Nation and Bapu”.

Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa was a very religious and famous woman. She is one the great personalities all over the world. She had served her life a true mother by providing kind services of full dedication and love to the needy and poor people of the Indian society. She is also popularly known as “saint of our times” or “angel” or “a beacon in the world of darkness”. Her birth name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu who became later famous as the Mother Teresa after her great works and life achievements. She was born on 26th of August in 1910 Skopje, Macedonia in a religious catholic family.

Mother Teresa was decided to become a nun in her early age. She had joined a convent in the year 1928. and then came to India (Darjeeling and then Kolkata). Once, while she was returning from her visit, she started thinking some ways to alleviate people suffering in the slum. She was well known of her social restrictions so she prayed to the God for getting some guidance and direction. Finally she got a message (to leate convent and serve needy people) from the God on her way to Darjeeling on 10th of September in 1937. After that she never looked back and started serving to the poor people.

She chose to wear a simple dress of white sari having blue border. Soon, young girls started joining her group in order to provide a kind help to the suffering people of the poor community. She planned to make a dedicated group of sisters which would be always ready for serving to poor in any condition. The group of dedicated sisters later known as “Missionaries of Charity”.

APJ Abdul Kalam

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is called as the a Missile Man of India and the People’s President of India. His full name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was a great scientist and 11th President of India. He was born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, in a poor Tamil Muslim family on 15th of October in 1931 to the Jainulabudeen and Ashiamma. He started supporting his family financially in his early age. He has completed his graduation from the St Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli in 1954 and Aerospace Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai in 1960. He joined the DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) as a scientist where he designed a small helicopter for the Indian Army.

He also worked under Dr. Vikram Sarabhai as part of INCOSPAR committee. Later, he joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1969 as project director of India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III). His great contributions for the development of ballistic missiles in India, he will be forever known as the “Missile Man of India”. The successful Pokhran-II nuclear tests of 1998 have also involved his important role. He has been the third President of India who awarded with the Bharat Ratna.

He has also been awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 1981 and Padma Vibhushan in 1990 for his contributions at ISRO and DRDO as well as the Government of India as a scientific advisor. He has written many books such as Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds, Target 3 Billion in 2011, Turning Points, India 2020, My Journey, etc. His love for childred is evident after he became the president of India. He was used to saw Taj Mahal daily from Agra Fort and remembered his wife. Taj Mahal took many years to get completed. This historical monument is a symbol of love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. The surrounding environment of the Taj Mahal is so natural and attractive. It is located on the bank of Yamuna River in the city of Agra, UP. My Father My Hero

Introduction My father is my mentor, my hero and my best friend. He has been there for me at every step in life and supported me in all my decisions. He has taught me a lot and continues to shower his words on wisdom. My Father Believes in Keeping Life Simple My father believes in ‘leading a simple life. Though he earns well and can afford a luxury car and a big bangalow. However, he still continues to live in a small flat.

His needs are minimal and he has taught us the same values. He believes in spending a good amount of his salary to social work. He is a part of a non-profit organization that is dedicated towards providing food and education to the underprivileged children. Every

Saturday he visits these children and distributes fruits and other eatables among them. He also gives free mathematics classes to these students in the charity school run by the organization. Many a times, he also takes us along. He has taught us how to share and care. I and my sister have inculcated this value from him. We also do our bit to light up a smile on the faces of these children. This is true joy for us. No amount of toys, holiday trips and visits to restaurants can render such a joyful feeling.

Just like my father, I also love keeping it simple. I have understood that “needs can be met but greed cannot”. I am not keen on buying new bags, clothes and accessories every now and then. I only buy things when I truly need them. I love accompanying my father to the places he visits for his charity work and wish to join one such non-profit organization as I grow old. Conclusion I am proud of my father. He is a noble soul who is dedicated towards helping others. His teachings and values inspire me to become a better human being.

Sports and good education both together become the way to achieve success in the life of a child. Everybody understands that, sports and games mean only the physical and mental fitness. However it has many hidden benefits as well. Sports mean not only the bodily exercise however it means to promote the concentration level of the students towards study. There is a common saying about the sports that “A sound mind in a sound body means there should be a well working mind in the fit body in order to go ahead and get success in the life.

Playing sports brings highest level of confidence and teaches us discipline which remains with us whole life. Motivating children for the sports and make them interested in the games should be started at home and school level by the equal participation of the parents and teachers. Sports and games are of many types and named according to the rules and ways of playing them. Some of the sports are cricket, hockey (national game), football, basket ball, volley ball, tennis, running, skipping, high and low jumping, discus throw, badminton, rowing, swimming, kho-kho, kabaddi, and many more.

Sports are the best ways to deal with the losses and profits in the life by making the balance between body and mind, excitement and sorrow. Playing sports for some hour on daily basis has been made necessary in the schools for the welfare of the children and better future of the country. Sports is given its space in curriculum and good sports person are ranked in their performance in co – cur ricular activities.

Cricket is the exciting outdoor game in India and played in many countries all through the world. Indian are crazy for their cricket love. The roads become empty when it comes to finals. The frenzy of cricket fans is evident as they celebrate victory as do they celebrate Diwali. It is a wonderful game played using a bat and a ball in the open space in the big field. It is my favourite sports. I generally used to see only cricket on the TV whenever any national or international cricket competition takes place. In cricket there are two teams having 11 players in each team. One team starts batting first and another team do bowling according to the toss winning. The team who win toss do batting first however both of the teams can do batting alternatively.

There are many rules in the cricket and one cannot play the cricket without knowing the rules and regulations properly. It is played well when play ground becomes dry however there exist some problems when ground gets wet. One batsman gets chance to do batting until he gets out of the game. Whenever match starts everyone’s enthusiasm runs high and a high pitch sound of people gets spread all over the stadium, especially when favourite batsman does through a chauka or chhakka ball. Sachin Tendulkar is my favourite cricketer and would be. He had made a new record in the cricket history of India.

I completely forget to eat anything for whole day whenever he played his cricket match on national or international level. Cricket is a hard however simple game if practiced on regular basis. I too, very fond of playing the cricket and play daily in the evening in the play ground near my house. My parents are very helpful and motivate me always to play cricket very well.

Summer Vacation

Summer vacation is the happiest period of the year for me. I like it most because I get protected from the high heat harming sun rays all through the day in summer season. I really enjoy the whole s with my loving parents and brother. One could pursue his wobby during vacations as it is relaxing period for every member of the family. It gives me chance to enhance my skill and knowledge in the areas other than the studies. I also join tuition classes to improve my weak subjects.

I enjoy my summer vacations by visiting new places of my country. We plan to visit my home town’s. We also go to visit my native place where my sweet grandparents live. I like very much to spend some quality time with them and eat fresh vegetables and fruits they crop in their fields. I will click some memorable snaps with them and keep with me forever. Summer vacation brings lots of happiness to me every year and gives me enough time to meet my all near and dear ones.

Pollution is contamination are induced into the natural environment that cause adverse changes. It could be in the form of smoke, dust, sewage, unbearable noise. Pollution has become the most serious issue as everyone is facing lots of health hazards in their daily life. Various types of pollutants from the industrial garbage and other activities are contaminating our natural resources like air, water, soil, etc. The rate of pollution in the cities is higher than the villages because of the vehicles transportation. Fumes arise from the running vehicles, factories and other industries are affecting the clean air of cities which is not fit for the breathing.

Soiled water from the big sewage system, other garbage from the households, by-products from the factories and industries are directly mixing to the rivers, lake and oceAnswer:Most of the solid wastes, garbage and other unused things are thrown away by the people on the land which cause soil pollution and affect the crop production. Most of the people in the cities spread noise pollution to a great extent during their birthday, marriage or other occasions just for their short time happiness.

The quality of life is worsening day by day as pollution acts as a devil which causes various health ailments like high blood pressure, kidney disorders, respiratory disease, cancer, epidemics, skin diseases, etc. Thus pollution needs to be put under control before it destroy us.

Earth is a planet that is a home to various species. It is full of all basic resources for continuation of life. Earth is the only known planet in this universe where life is possible as it has basic necessities of life. We need to maintain the natural quality of our mother earth in order to continue the healthy life here. Save earth save environment and save earth save life are the most famous slogans to increase awareness about save earth among people. There are various means the condition of our earth is getting declined day by day due to the pollution, greenhouse gases, etc. It is generating the harmful impact on environment and thus health of people.

It is the responsibility of human beings to keep earth safe, clean and natural. Earth Day is a global annual observance celebrated on 22nd of April since 1970 to protect the environment and save earth. The aim of this event is to inspire people for healthy earth’s environment. So, We should not waste water and use only according to the requirement. We should wash dirty clothes only and in the cold water. In this way, we can save many gallons of water per day. People should share private cars and generally use public transport in order to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

People should use bicycle to perform work in local areas. People should follow 3R methods means reduce, reuse and recycle things. People should make compost which is a great natural fertilizer for the crops. We should use Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) instead of common bulbs as they are more durable and use two-third less energy which will reduce the use of electricity and greenhouse gases emissions. Use of electric heater or air conditioner unnecessarily should be avoided.

We should switch off lights, fans and unplug other electric appliances to use less electricity. We should plant more trees in the surrounding areas to reduce pollution and effect of green house gases. We have not inherited the earth. We are caretaker of it for the future generations.

Disaster Management

The vastness of Indian Territory requires safety measures before hand. India is a disaster prone country. Which can be classified as- The disaster can come in any form, earthquake Tsunami, epidemics or man-made. It spread from Mountains to desert, deserts to seas, coast line of India is also big. It touches the boundary of about countries. A disaster is a serious disruption in the functioning of a community and society as a fall-out of widespread human, material, or environmental losses that exceed the ability of the affected population to cope with its own resources.

There are two majorly two types of disasters: one of them is Natural disasters: The disasters caused due to natural reasons which are beyond the control of humans including floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcano eruptions that have immediate impacts on human lives. Man-made disasters also known as the complex emergencies are the disasters caused due to major accidents like fires, the breakdown of authority, looting and attacks, including conflict situations and war. Disaster management is a continuous phenomenon of mitigating the impact of the disasters.

Disaster management calls for collective and co-ordinated efforts. A number of activities need to be undertaken in the event of disaster. These include co-ordination, command and control, rapid assessment of damage, restoration of power, tele-communication and surface transport, deployment of search and rescue teams, medicals and Para-medical teams, arrangements for drinking water and food material, setting up of temporary shelters, sanitation and hygiene identification and earmarking of resources, last but not the least, maintenance of law and order is equally important.

Quick and timely response is the essence in providing immediate relief and rescue operations, to save human lives and mitigate miseries as soon as possible. India has set up many departments and organizations for the same i.e. National disaster management author ity (ndma), national remote sensing centre (nrsc), central water commission (cwc) etc. And due to the presence of so many authorities it is not feasible for all of them to take steps in a single direction.

An honest man handles situations with courage and confidence. Being honest help us to be trusted by the people in our surroundings or closer to us. Honesty is not only means to tell the truth however it means to care and honour the feeling of the associated people in our life. We should respect everyone without caring their status and talents. Honest people are al ways in demand for doing relationship, business or other work.

Several bad or good experiences in the life help people to learn more about how to be honest in their dealings with fellowman. Being honest shows the good and clean character of the person as honesty helps to develop quality property in the behavior. Honesty changes the person from outside as well as inside without giving any harm and keeps the mind very peaceful. A peaceful mind gives satisfaction to the person by making a nice balance among body, mind and spirit.

On the other hand, the families where people don’t stand by each other and are busy trying to put the others down do not only ruin their own life but also that of their coming generations. People belonging to such families often feel lonely and end up in depression. Now-a-days, a good health is just like a boon given by the God. It is very fact that good health is real asset of life. In order to maintain a good health we need to do regular physical exercises, yoga, meditation, balanced food, good thoughts, cleanliness, personal hygiene, regular health check ups, proper sleep, rest, etc.

If one is healthy, he/she does not need spend money on his/her health in buying medicines or visiting doctors. However, on the other hand a lazy, diseased or sluggish person needs to spend more money throughout his life. He is also disliked by his state of health.

A good health means healthy in all aspects like mentally, physically, socially and intellectually. A good health provides us freedom from all the sickness and diseases. A good health is the feeling of mental, physical and social well being. It is a costly and most precious gift of the life and necessary for living a purposeful life.

A good health allows us to work effectively saving time. A good health is the real pleasures and charm of life. So, it is good to maintain the good health to get rid of all the complications of body as well as successfully face all the challenges of life.

As we all know about the famous proverb ‘work is worship’ which means that without work no one can seek the blessing of God. Man is considered as the most intelligent creation of the God. The life of man is completely depends on his hard work. Man cannot get anything without work It is truly said, ‘An idle man’s brain is the devil’s workshop. All the inventions and discoveries in the field of science are resulted as the human’s continuous hard work with patience. Constant work in the right direction and in the right field leads people towards successful career and further progress in future.

Work is not like worship but work is worship which we all should follow in our life. All the great personalities’ lives are the example of hard works they have done during their lifetime. Continuous hard work does not only lead to the better results but also increases the self-confidence level.

Developed nations all over world (like USA, Japan, China, Germany, etc) are only through their hard works individually and collectively. Lord Vishwakarma is worshiped in India as the great god of the workers to get blessings in order to continue the hard work. However, most of the people become very lazy and expect more than their work.

College life becomes most popular among youngsters as we become surrounded by the good friends and enjoy a : lot. Good friends live together happily and participate in the activities together. We are not able to measure its potential because sometime only one moment is enough to win where as sometime it takes whole life to win. Only one moment is enough to create a difference between life and death. Each and every moment brings lots of golden opportunities to us, we just need to understand the indication of time and use it. It is favorable for those who understand its value and use it properly however unfavorable for the idle people who waste it or use it improperly.

Every moment is a big store house of the new chances in the life. So, we never let go off such precious time and make full use of it. We should never allow our golden time to pass away from us unnecessarily. We should utilize time positively and fruitfully to go to our destination. The best way to utilize time in useful manner, we should make a time table to do everything at right time.

What are Good Manners? Good manners are closely linked to moral rules. A person with good manners shows respects towards feelings and sentiments of people living around. Modesty and courtesy are the essential traits of a well behaving person. Practicing good manners and following them all through the day bring sunshine and add qualities to the life. He/she always becomes mentally happy as good manners enrich his/her personality. Good manners should be inculcating especially in the children from childhood.

Teaching good manners to all the students is a boon to them and country from parents and teachers as they are the bright future. Lack of good manners among youths of the country lead them at the wrong path. Practicing good manners cost nothing but pay us a lot all through the life. Some of the good manners include magical words. like: “Sorry”, “thanks”, “please”, “excuse me”, etc. we should use these magical words. Whenever required without getting late in order to maintain a happy relationship.

Nature is everything which surrounds us like water, air, land, sky, fire, river, forests, animals, birds, plants, sun, moon, stars, sea, lake, rain, thunder, storm, etc. Nature is very colourful and has both living and non-living things in its lap. Everything in the nature has their own power and uniqueness provided by the God.

It has its many forms which are changing by season to season and even from minute to minute such as sea looks bright blue in the morning but by noon it looks emerald green colour. Sky changes its colour all through the day from pale pink at sunrise, dazzling blue in late morning, bright orange in evening at sunset and purple by twilight. Our mood also gets changed according to the nature such as happy and hopeful at sun shine, rainy season and spring season. We feel heartily happy at moonlight and little bored and tired in high sun light. Nature has some powerful transformative power which changes our mood and behaviour accordingly.

Nature has power to recover the patients from their diseases if they are provided with the required and pleasant environment. Nature is very essential for our healthy life so we should keep it clean and conserve it for our future generations. We should cut trees and forests, should not despoil the ocean, rivers, should not make hole in ozone layer, should not increase green house effect, global warming and many more through our selfish activities. We should get fully aware about our nature and try our best to keep it natural so that it can nourish life on the earth forever.

Rainy Season

Rainy season is the lovely season for all of us. Generally, it begins in the month of July and ends in September. It comes after the hot summer season. It brings new hopes and life to the living things which are most probably become dead because of the heat of summer sun. This season gives lots of relief through its natural and cool rain water. All the ponds, rivers and streams become full of water which was dried due to the heat. So, it gives new life to the water animals. It returns greenery to the gardens and lawns back. It gives environment a new attractive look. However, it is so sad that it stays only for three months. Rainy season is of great importance for the Indian farmers as they really need more water for their crops cultivation.

Farmers generally make many pits and ponds to collect rainy water for further use in the fields. , Rainy season is actually a boon from the God to the agriculturists. They worship Rain God, if it does not rain after and finally they get blessed with the rains. Sky looks cloudy as lots of white, brown and dark black clouds runs from here and there in the sky. Running clouds contains lots of rain water and rains when mansoon comes. Rainy season adds scenic beauty to the environment.

I like greenery too much. I generally go outside with .my family to have some enjoyment of the rainy season. Last year I went to the Nainital and had amazing experiences. Manywatery clouds were touching our body in the car and go outside from window. It was raining very slowly and we enjoyed a lot. We also enjoyed water boating in the Nainital. The whole Nainital was looking amazing full of greeneries.

The word junk food speaks itself a lot and indicates its harmful nature to the health. Junk foods are trash food to the health because they are high in calorie, fat, cholesterol, sugar and salt components. Nowadays kids and teenagers are more prone to eat junk foods daily in bulk amount. They are leading their lives towards danger through their unhealthy lifestyle. They generally eat chips, french fries, cracks, snack, chawmin, burger, pizza, pasta, and other junk foods whenever they feel hungry. No junk foods are beneficial and provide no nutritional value.

It affects the health in all ways of the people f any age group, weight and health condition. Junk foods are considered as high in calories however one who eat end up easily getting exhausted and need more food frequently. Junk food does not provide appropriate level of energy thus the eater develop tendencies of craving more food frequently. What we generally acquire from the junk foods are unhealthy fats and not healthy ingredients thus we feel lack of oxygen which causes poor brain functioning.

We absorb much cholesterol from such type of foods which causes plaque formation in the arteries and creates problems for the heart to pump normal amount of blood. That’s why we feel high level fatigue. High level of bad cholesterol destroys our liver and put more weight at the same time. According to the research, kids and children eating more junk food on daily basis are overweight and obese and highly prone to the heart and liver disorders.

Such kids are more prone to become diabetic and lethargic because of high sugar collection in their body in the early ages. They get high blood pressure because of high amount of sodium mineral in the junk foods. Kids and children should be trained by their parents to follow healthy eating habits from the childhood.

Yoga is a most important and precious gift given by the nature from ancient time to get connected throughout the life with nature. It is the practice of uniting the mind and body in order to achieve the perfect harmony between both. It helps a person to get higher level of consciousness by getting control over the body in all aspects like physically, mentally, socially and intellectually. Yoga is promoted to get practiced daily in the schools and colleges for the betterment of the students as well as increasing their concentration level towards study. It is a systematic effort done by the people to attain the perfection by getting control over all different nature elements exist in the body.

It needs very safe and regular practice to get benefited all the asanas of yoga. Yoga is practiced to bring spiritual progress in the body and mind for self-development by controlling the inner energy. The inhaling and exhaling of the oxygen during yoga is the main thing. Practicing yoga in daily life regularly prevents from various diseases as well as cures fatal disease including cancer, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, heart ailments, kidney disorders, liver disorders, gynaecological problems and variety of mental problems. Now-a-days, it is very necessary to practice yoga again to make lives of people better.

Daily yoga practice provides inner and outer body strength. It helps in strengthening the body immunity system thus prevents from various diseases and cures different disease. It acts as an alternative system of medicine if practiced continuously. It also reduces the side effects of many heavy medicines taken on daily basis. The very good time for practicing the yoga like pranayam and kapal bharti is the early morning as it provides better environment to get control over body and mind.

Happiness is a state of bliss. If you train your brain to stay in this state it will stay this way. This is because your mind believes whatever you say. However, it is not as simple as it seems. You may experience happiness from time to time however it may take months or even years to make this state last.

Ways to Attract Happiness and Make it Last

As per some recent studies, some of the habits to attract happiness and make it last are as follows: 1. Be Content: Instead of getting super excited or depressed in different situations you must practice to fin transform these activated feelings into deactivated feelings such as calmness and contentment. These feelings are healthier and also easier to sustain.

2. Live in Present: You must stop thinking about your past mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes; nobody is perfect. Stop blaming yourself or feeling guilty for all the bad decisions you have taken in life. Also stop worrying about your future. Live in the present moment. Don’t let the good times go unnoticed.

3. Be Thankful: Remember all your past moments and decisions that brought happiness and rejoice them. Be thankful to God for bestowing such joyous moments.

4. Develop Positive Thoughts: Your thoughts build your reality. Positive thoughts and positive mind at tract positive things in life and negative thoughts fetch similar experiences. So the only way to experience happiness is to feel good about all that you have.

5. Surround Yourself with Positive People: Steer clear from people who indulge in negative talks or de motivate you. Surround yourself with positive minds instead. A student’s life revolves around homework, exam preparation and tests. So basically studies, studies and more studies. We go to school then go to the coaching centre and then study at home. There is hardly any time for other activities especially in the higher classes. Sundays come as a respite but mostly there is some or the other test scheduled for Monday so we cannot escape studies even for a single day in a week. My Fond Memories of My Summer Holidays Summer holidays are the best time of the year for every student. We plan a family trip during our summer vacations every year. Our family trip is the best part of these holidays and I always look forward to it.

Most of the times the four of us that is my father, mother, brother and I go on these trips but many times my cousins also join us. These trips are always full of fun. Last year, we went to Ooty and Mysore for six days. Both the places were spectacular. Ooty was particularly awesome. These places encompass many beautiful gardens and marvellous edifices. We went for sight-seeing, had scrumptious food and spent quality time with each other. It was a great experience.

It was one of the best family trips we had every gone for. It was also the longest one. We often plan holidays only for 2-3 days but this one was for 6 days and was thus more fun. We were a party of ten friends. We collected 20 rupees each. We bought fruits, sweets and some other eatables. We took our bikes and started at 7 a.m. We reached there in half an hour. We selected a beautiful grassy spot. We spread the carpet and rested for some time. First of all we ate apples.
  • What did we do? : Then we took off our clothes and jumped into the water. We swam, dived and played in the water. We came out of the water and put on our clothes. We soon felt hungry. We ate some fruits and sweets. We took tea. After taking tea ,we sat in a circle. We played cards. Mohan sang a song. Sohan played upon the flute. Ajit recited a poem. Ram told us a story. Manoj amused us with tit – bits. We laughed heartily. We sang and danced..
  • Conclusion : We again bathed in the lake. We had a jolly good time there. It was evening by then. We left for our homes. It was a nice picnic. It was really a happy day of my life.

Essay 1 – A Morning Walk

Introduction : A morning walk is a light exercise. It is very useful for health. It keeps us fresh and active the whole day. It makes us healthy and cheerful. Morning time is the best time of the day. It is calm and quiet. A cool breeze blows. The atmosphere is free from dust and smoke. There is a famous saying: “He, who walks a mile, will surely smile.”

Description : I am an early bird. Last Sunday, I got up at 4 O’clock. I called on my friend, Manish. Both of us left for the canal. The birds were chirping, We saw many people on the way. They were also going for a walk. Farmers were going to their fields. Women were going to fetch water. They were singing beautiful songs. A cool breeze was blowing. The sky was clear. Green field fields looked beautiful. Dew-drops on the grass looked like pearls.

What we saw and did : We reached the canal in half an hour. We sat on the bank and took rest. We saw some persons bathing in the canal. Some were praying to God. Some were walking along thè bank. Some were swimming. We took exercise. We had our bath. We felt fresh. We put on our clothes. We started for our homes. A morning walk costs nothing but gains are many. We should never miss it.

Essay 1 – A Scene at the Bus Stand

Introduction : A bus stand presents a very lively and busy scene. It is like a musceum of human faces and fashion. Last Monday, I went to see off my friend at the bus stand. There was a great rush. Buses were departing and arriving. The bus for Delhi had not yet arrived. So we had to wait.

Description : There was a great rush of passengers. They were waiting for their buses. The ladies were sitting in groups. The children were playing here and there. Vendors and hawkers : Vendors and hawkers were selling news papers and eatables. They were shouting at the top of their voice. There was a rush at the water tap, the tea stalls and the book stalls. We went to a tea stall. We took tea. We bought two books to pass time.

Arrival and departure of the bus : There were long queues at the booking windows. Soon our bus arrived. I bought a ticket for my friend. He boarded the bus and got a seat near the window. The driver took his seat. The conductor gave a whistle and the bus started. I wished good-bye to my friend.

Teachers and Students : There are 50 teachers in our school. They are hard working. The school has 2000 students. All work hard. Our school shows good result every year. Sh. T.S. Chauhan is our Principal. He is an ideal Principal. The school is progressing under him. Our school is an ideal one. I am proud of it.

14 fantastiske essays – ”A work in progress”

”A work in progress”

Vi har i år på mit danskhold haft et såkaldt ”Work in progress” (undskyld det ikke-danske udtryk, men det dækker bare bedst ) i forbindelse med skrivning af essays.

Jeg har haft den fornøjelse at få tilsendt rigtig gode tekster, som jeg så har returneret med forslag til forbedringer, færre gentagelser og ”killing of darlings”, opstramninger af struktur og andet; i det hele taget har jeg forsøgt at få eleverne til at styrke de forskellige udtryk, så de oprindelige ideer voksede, blev klarere, sprang ud som små sole eller forårsbuketter. Nogle af mine ideer blev accepteret, andre blev – som det sig hør og bør – forkastet af forfatterne, der holdt fast ved egne ideer. Ved ikke helt, om jeg har del i, at det lykkedes, men jeg ved, at disse 14 tekster er store, solide, gedigne dansktekster, som kan måle sig med de flestes skriverier.

Fra Andreas fabuleren over konkret og ikke-konkret “Bagage” til Carolines tanker om “Det ’perfekte’ menneske” – findes det? Ellas overvejelser i forbindelse med “Forpligtelse” , et begreb som måske er med til at gøre vore liv mere interessante, Knarbergs “Tidsoplevelsens Ubeskrivelighed” om fortid, fremtid og nutid, om at tiden æder os, med associationer til Milan Kundera. Bylovs “Usikkerheden tager over” om besværligheder og forhindringer ved at gøre, hvad man selv vil. Klagenbergs smukke ord om, hvad musik kan gøre ved og for vore minder “At lade sig svæve med” . Peters essay “Tillid” og manglen på samme med en tone af tro på fremtiden, Almas fantastiske essay kaldet “Hjemfølelse” , hvilket herligt gammelt dansk ord, der leger med hjemve og at være hjemme i sig selv. Klarskovs fine skrift om at være spejder og frustrationerne over, hvordan folk uden kendskab til det dømmer alligevel; men også om glæderne og fællesskabet i spejderbevægelsen “Spejder” .

Slayers (Slæger) legen med sproget i sætningen “Ansigtet er et vindue til sjælen” , det er måske noget helt andet? Sofie Frederikkes dybe tanker om stjerner, både dem tæt på, dem lidt længere væk og dem mange lysår herfra – og også om dem, som bliver glemt og gemt væk i vores samfund “Stars can’t shine without darkness” . Simones “Livets værdier” , både de danske og de lidt større, med en sætning som ”Jeg tænker tit tanker itu” (Juhuu, hvor er det godt). Og Zoes essay ” “Hvem er den uheldige nummer 3?” , der behandler tanker om kræft, som altså rammer en ud af tre i Danmark. Ida filurs underspillede humor i ”Røvirriterende” fik mig til at grine hjerteligt mange gange, hun forstår virkelig at sætte tingene på spidsen – og vende hele bøtten til sidst.

Alt sammen store, store tanker fra 17-årige på deres vej frem gennem livet, lige på overgangen mellem ung og voksen, unge som gør mig så glad og fortrøstningsfuld over for fremtiden.

Tak fordi I var villige til at lade mig offentliggøre jeres tanker. I har hver for sig sat jer selv på spil i denne proces, og I har på alle måder været med til at gøre dette skoleår til et af de bedste i min karriere som efterskolelærer.

Og til alle jer, der måske ser dette, giv jer selv den glæde at læse disse ord fra ”disse smukke unge mennesker” , det er tanker, som vi alle kan forholde os til. Kærlighed Søren

Gymnastik på græs

Jeg trækker gardinet halvt for, tænder min lyskæde, sætter radiatoren på 3,2 og lukker døren. Derefter sætter jeg mig i min hvidmalede seng med to puder i ryggen, dynen trukket godt op omkring mig og en god bog. Jeg føler mig vældig godt tilpas, og en dejlig form for indvendig ro, der gør mig helt afslappet. Jeg føler mig hjemme. Men hvad skal der egentlig til for at føle sig hjemme?

Nogle vil nok mene, at det er følelsen af at have sit eget private sted, mens andre måske vil mene, at det er at møde det samme velkendte igen og igen. Jeg ved for eksempel præcis, hvor gulvet knirker, og selv i mørke finder jeg altid håndtaget på min dør uden besvær.

Da vi lige var flyttet ind i den lille lejlighed, følte jeg mig slet ikke godt tilpas. Dette er ikke mit hjem. Dette er ikke mit værelse. Der var nye dufte og mærkelige lyde overalt. Dengang irriterede det mig ofte, at naboen skulle tale så højt i telefon. Hun taler altid med en britisk posh accent, og en gang imellem bryder hun ud i en meget overfladisk latter. Det var endnu værre om natten. Hvis jeg vågnede, var det næsten umuligt at sove, for hun snorkede så højt, at væggene næsten rystede. Sådan føltes det i hvert fald. Men nu tænker jeg stort set ikke over det, og overraskende nok irriterer det mig heller ikke mere. Tværtimod gør det mig tryg, at jeg kan høre, at jeg er hjemme. Betyder det, at man bare skal være det samme sted længe nok for at føle sig hjemme?

Når venner og familie inviterer en ind i deres hjem, siger de ofte: „Lad som om du er hjemme“ eller „Føl dig endelig hjemme“ . Men hvordan føler man sig hjemme i noget, der ikke er ens eget hjem? På den ene side er det næsten umuligt at føle sig hjemme, før man har lært det nye sted at kende. Nye rutiner, andre regler og gøremåder.

På den anden side kan det også være, at det ikke skal tages så bogstaveligt. Måske er det bare en måde at få folk til at føle sig velkomne. Man kan næsten med sikkerhed sige, at nye steder ikke giver én den samme stærke hjemfølelse, som er tilknyttet ens eget hjem. Nok fordi man ikke har tilbragt ligeså meget tid i det hjem, man besøger, som i ens eget. Måske findes hjemfølelse i forskellige grader. Nogle steder føler man sig mere hjemme end andre, hvilket vil sige, at man godt kan have flere hjem på samme tid.

Mens jeg skriver alt dette, kommer jeg til at tænke på, at jeg har skrevet meget om hjemfølelsen som tilknyttet et hus. Men kan man ikke også føle sig hjemme andre steder? Jeg har for eksempel hørt om mennesker, der ikke har det særlig godt i deres eget hjem. Det kan være, at de føler sig begrænset, fordi de ikke må larme om natten, ryge indenfor eller have husdyr. Det kan også være, at de føler sig ensomme eller forladt. Nogle vil derfor mene, at de føler sig meget mere hjemme, når de går en tur i skoven eller sidder og nyder en kop kaffe på en hyggelig café i København.

Her skriver jeg igen om steder, man kan være, men man kan vel også føle sig hjemme i personer? Måske hvis man er dybt forelsket i en person, betyder stedet ikke så meget. Her er det personens tilstedeværelse, der gør, at man føler sig hjemme. Det er derfor lige meget, hvor i verden, man befinder sig, hvis bare man er sammen.

Da jeg var mindre, fik jeg ofte hjemve, hvis jeg var væk hjemmefra uden min mor. Men ligeså snart jeg var sammen med min mor, om vi så var 1000 km væk hjemmefra, fik jeg aldrig hjemve. Min mors tilstedeværelse får mig altid til at føle mig mere hjemme. Derfor tænker jeg, at man også godt kan føle sig hjemme i personer.

Hjemfølelse fylder altså en stor del af livet. Den er tilknyttet steder, ting og personer, og findes i forskellige grader. Det gør ondt at miste den, og når den er tilstede, giver den os tryghed og glæde. Er hjemfølelsen tilknyttende kærlighed?

1 ud af tre får kræft. Risikoen for at blive ramt ligger på 33 %. Det er et faktum. En sandhed. En virkelighed.

Hvordan bliver det bestemt hvem, der skal blive syg? Og hvem bestemmer det? Går kræft bare rundt ude i verden og tæller til 3, og den der bliver nummer 3 er bare uheldig eller hvordan? Har dem, der får kræft nogensinde gjort noget, som gør, at de fortjener at få den her forfærdelige sygdom? For det er da lige præcis, hvad det er. En forfærdelig sygdom, der statistisk set rammer hver tredje person. En helt tilfældig person, der nu skal igennem et langt helbredningsforløb med medicin, kemobehandlinger og kun Gud ved, hvad de ellers skal igennem. For hvis nu du er den uheldige nummer tre, er der faktisk en risiko for at dø. En chance. En virkelighed.

Jeg ved, at de fleste kræftpatienter kæmper helt indtil deres sidste åndedrag. De lever med en sygdom, som jeg er ret sikker på, ingen af os raske nogensinde vil forstå. Nej, heller ikke mig selv. Jeg har set kræftpatienter, og jeg kender endda et par stykker selv. Jeg kan gætte fra nu af og til juleaften, men jeg tror aldrig, at jeg vil kunne forstå, hvordan deres liv er, for jeg har aldrig været den uheldige nummer 3. Ikke endnu i hvert fald.

Hvem bestemmer, hvem der skal overleve? Fordi selvom kræft er en forfærdelig sygdom, så findes der jo faktisk solstrålehistorier. Jeg havde engang en veninde, hvis mor var nummer 3. Jeg kan tydeligt huske, hvordan alle var så bekymrede for hende, og det var jeg da også selv. Hun er her stadig. Hun døde ikke, og hun er rask nu. Selvfølgelig er jeg glad for, at hun stadig er her i dag, det er slet ikke det, men hvem bestemte, at lige hun skulle overleve? Hun, en helt tilfældig kræftpatient, har det godt i dag, men det er der andre, som ikke har. Nogle er her ikke engang mere, nogle kæmper en umulig kamp, som alle ved de vil tabe, men man siger ikke noget. Man smiler. Nikker forstående. Griner i anstrengte situationer. Gør den sidste tid til noget særligt. Min venindes far kæmper den umulige kamp. Hun ved det, hendes mor ved det, hendes bror ved det, jeg ved det, men det gør han ikke. De ved, at døden kan banke på døren når som helst og tage deres højt elskede far og ægtemand med sig. Jeg kan se på min veninde, at hun er bange. Jeg tror ikke, han er bange. Jeg tror ikke engang, at han ved, hvad der foregår. Kræften æder hans hjerne stille op, så ikke engang han ved, hvem han er.

Jeg husker en eftermiddag, hvor min mor og jeg var hjemme hos min veninde. Det var en varm forårsdag og min mor, min veninde, hendes mor og jeg sad på terrassen og drak kaffe. Jeg kan ikke lide kaffe og har heller aldrig kunnet. Det smager alt for stærkt, og er bare ikke lige mig, så jeg sad bare og rørte i kruset med skeen. Kaffen fulgte skeens bevægelser, som var den tiltrukket af den flotte sølvskinnende farve ligesom en fisk efter et blink. Normalt ville jeg nok bede om en kop te i stedet, men stemningen i huset var ikke som den plejede, og jeg ville ikke være på tværs. Min venindes far havde siddet inde i stuen for sig selv og havde stirret på fjernsynet, selvom det ikke var tændt. Jeg ved ikke, om han havde regnet med, at noget magisk ville ske, og det ville tænde af sig selv, for han så håbefuld ud. ”Kræften i hjernen har taget hårdt på ham. Han er ikke helt normal længere,” havde min venindes mor sagt. Hun så ikke på os, da hun sagde det. Farens ansigtsudtryk var tomt som et stykke blankt papir, og han fatter ikke en brik mere.

”Han dør af det her, og der er kun tale om et par måneder,” havde min mor sagt, da vi kom hjem. Det slog mig hårdt. Som en stor næve lige i maven. Hvem skal nu følge min veninde op ad kirkegulvet når den dag kommer? Det er hårdt og uretfærdigt.

Tænk engang, jeg synes ikke, det med at ca. 260.000 mennesker lever med kræft i Danmark i dag eller det faktum, at så mange mennesker dør af kræft, eller hvor mange efterladte der er i verden, er det mest uhyggelige ved kræft. Det mest uhyggelige er, at kræften stadig ikke er færdig med at tælle endnu. Den vil spankulere rundt og tælle til tre, indtil et vidunder vil udrydde den. Tro mig, jeg glæder mig til at se, hvem det bliver! Personen bliver sikkert stinkende rig og vinder Nobels fredspris, og det vil være fortjent.

Man ved ikke, hvor lang tid det vil tage, før kuren bliver fundet, og tanken om, at jeg måske ikke vil være her mere, når vi finder ud af, hvem denne fantastiske person vil blive, skræmmer mig lidt. Hvor lang tid skal vi gå og frygte, at vi bliver hr. eller fru uheldige nummer 3? Det spørgsmål kan ikke besvares. Desværre.

Jeg ved ikke, hvor mange gange jeg har skrevet ordet kræft i det her essay, men selvom jeg har skrevet ordet rigtig mange gange, så er det først nu jeg tænker over det. Det er faktisk ret ironisk, at man har valgt at kalde en dødbringende sygdom kræft. Hvis man læser ordet, er man ikke et sekund i tvivl om, hvad det betyder, men prøv at udtale det. Lad ordet glide ud gennem læberne. Så bliver det straks en helt anden sag, ja faktisk et helt andet ord. Det udtales kraft. At have kraft med a er bestemt ikke det samme som at have kræft med æ. Gad vide hvorfor man har valgt at kalde det sådan? For sådan fungerer det ikke på andre sprog. På engelsk hedder det cancer, og cancer betyder kræft. Det har på ingen måde noget at gøre med kraft. Måske har man valgt at gøre det sådan for at give folk håb, når de allermest behøver det. At sige: ”jeg har kræft.” lyder stærkt og kraftfuldt, for vi ved alle sammen hvor alvorlig sygdommen er, og det lyder fuldstændig som at sige: ”Jeg har kræft.”

En dag håber jeg, at kræften vil stoppe med at gå og tælle. Måske finder den på noget andet at lave. Noget der ikke skader andre, slår andre ihjel eller sårer folk. Og hvis ikke, hvad skal der så ske? Jo hvis ikke, så håber jeg kræften selv får kraft og dør.

Hvad er værdier? Et simpelt spørgsmål med flere hundrede forskellige svar. De står ikke nedskrevet, da de er individuelle for os alle. Værdier er bundforskellige for mig, dig, for os, samfundet, forskellige religioner og verden. En ting er sikkert, vi skal kunne fungere som mennesker med eller imod hinanden, selvom vi har vidt forskellige tilgangsvinkler. Det, der påvirker vores personlige værdier, skiller os samtidig ad og gør os forskellige, det er alle de aspekter imellem milepælene i livet. De får måske os til at ændre værdigrundlag, får os til fungere og opføre os som enkeltindivider med adskillige værdier og holdninger

Den dag, vi første gang trækker luft ned til lungerne, er vores livstimeglas allerede begyndt at rende ud. Det er ens egen opgave at fylde livet med lige det, man vil. Tage uendelige af dumme og u- og betydningsfulde beslutninger. Valg som måske påvirker dig i høj grad eller ikke. Give dit liv indhold og mening.

”Kys det nu, det satans liv. Grib det, fang det, før det er forbi.” Dette synger Steffen Brandt om livet i al dets almindelighed.

Det er så vigtigt, at vi sætter pris på hverdagens små ting. Jeg tror på, at det største, det ser man kun i det små. Tv2 får tit mine tanker henledt på denne tekst, når livets dagligdag gør ondt. Når den viser sig fra sin dårlige side med modgang og trængsler. Når den vil overbevise mig om, at alt er umuligt. Vi bliver nødt til at fokusere og tvinge os selv til at koncentrere os om vores fundamentale værdier, især når livet gør ondt, derved kan vi komme op af det hul, som vi måske selv har gravet.

Religion er ikke det vigtigste i livet. Sagde jeg virkelig det? ”Religion er roden til alt ondt,” hører jeg ofte. Nogle deler måske samme holdning, andre mener det modsatte. Nogle ville dø for deres religion, andre så hellere, at den ikke eksisterede. Jeg er dog glad for, at vi som mennesker tror på noget. Jeg tror på, at den kan redde mennesker op fra bunden, at man kan blive trukket op igennem sin tro. Den giver os en sikkerhed som mennesker, noget at tro på. Tanken om, at der er mere mellem himmel og jord, at nogen våger over os, holder øje med os og beskytter os. Denne opfattelse og tanke af verden, giver mig en helt speciel betryggende og rolig følelse. Der er så mange ting i verden, der er urimelige. For eksempel, hvorfor er der så mange uskyldige mennesker, som mister livet, ofte til ting som vi ikke kan kontrollere, men gerne vil? Livet er uretfærdigt, men værdifuldt.

Jeg smiler tit og ofte, både til folk som jeg kender, som jeg måske kommer til at kende, og til folk som måske bare krydser min vej i livet i de få sekunder, hvor vi passerer hinanden. Det er en grundlæggende værdi for mig. Det redder ikke verden, men måske ændrer det en andens dag fra dårlig til god. Jeg mener, at det er vigtigt, at vi tager hånd om hinanden. Kærlighed er altoverskyggende i denne verden af vores. Vi bliver nødt til at bidrage, hjælpe og støtte hinanden. Mennesker har som sagt brug for mennesker.

Livet er et væld af værdier. I Danmark diskuterer, debatterer og skændes vi lige nu om, hvad danskhed er. Hvornår føler vi os danske? Hvordan bliver vi danske? Hvornår er vi danske? Nye indtryk, religioner, normer og traditioner skræmmer os. Udtalelsen fra Venstre i februar antyder og har en hvis ordklang, der kunne tyde på, at vi er bange.

Udtalelsen og forslaget lyder på: ”Det er folketingets opfattelse, at danskere ikke skal bo i mindretal i boligområder i Danmark” .

Hvem er disse såkaldte danskere, vi bor vel alle i Danmark? Vi hungrer efter noget at holde fast i, noget som beskriver os, og som ikke kan tages fra os. Vi føler måske, det er en nødvendighed, noget som vi har brug for i denne tid med integration og nye ”naboer”. Det er nyt, skræmmende og frygtindgydende. Hvad nu hvis, disse mennesker ikke tager de danske normer og værdier til sig? Hvor meget betyder det egentlig for os, eller er det mere tanken om at have fælles samhørighed imod nye tanker, aspekter og værdier ude fra?

Jeg tænker tit tanker itu. Jeg har så meget, som jeg skal opnå og indhente. Det er sådan, normen er lige nu. Mere succes, mere medgang, mere selviscenesættelse, flere forskellige kandidatgrader, flere timer i fitness og jo dyrere ejendele des bedre. Mere vil have mere. Vi skal nå det hele i en fart, tit hurtigere end Usain Bolt kan spurte en hundrede meter. Vi bliver nødt til at stoppe op, tænke lidt dybere over vores ellers så forbistrede og stressede hverdag, være taknemmelige over, at vi trækker vejret og ikke har tørstet i dagevis. Mest af alt, at vi ikke glemmer det allervigtigste i vores liv, nemlig at vi er i live. Vi skal som samfund og enkeltindivider stoppe op, puste ud og tænke over hvilke fundamentale værdier, vi har lyst til at have i verden, i vores land og hverdag.

Igennem livet udvikler, afvikler, tillægger og vedligeholder vi vores egne og fælles værdier. Vi møder nye mennesker, som gør større eller mindre indtryk på os, og vores verden bliver til og med mere globaliseret. Hvert menneske har deres eget værdisæt. Dette ændrer sig måske igennem livet hos nogle, og for andre ender de måske med en dag at have et fuldendt sæt. Værdier er vigtige, det giver livskvalitet og det fylder livet med indhold. Værdier skændes, diskuterer og bliver vi enige om. Vi græder, smiler og griner over, hvor forskellige og ens vi alle er. Der er intet facit eller et endeligt svar på, hvilke værdier der er bedst eller vigtigst i denne verden for dig, mig eller os. Det eneste vi kan blive enige om er, at livet er et væld af værdier.

Et citat jeg stødte på for noget tid siden. Det handler om stjerner, ikke om dybe citater. Selvom jeg godt kan lide dybe citater. Citater der sætter tanker i gang. Men nej, stjerner: Stjerner er mange ting. Det er et ord med mange betydninger.

”Stjerner er enorme kugler af gas, og i deres glohede indre foregår kernereaktioner, hvor atomkerner smelter sammen og frigiver energi. Det er den energi, som er kilde til stjernernes lys og varme gennem milliarder af år “ – www.r ummet.dk

Det er de astronomiske stjerner vi snakker om. De bor derude, hvor tyngdekraften ikke eksisterer. Jeg kan se dem så tydeligt. De blænder mit syn. Som blitzen på et kamera, bare stærkere. Lyset er kraftigt, som den største stjerne. Jeg kan se dem, lige foran næsen på mig. Det er sådan, det er med stjerner. De er så tæt på, men alligevel så langt væk.

Så er der de stjerner, man ser i tv. Dem man undrer sig over.

Om det er skuespillere, sangere, sangerinder eller de andre, som egentlig ikke har et talent, er ligegyldigt. ”Plastikstjernerne” skulle man måske kalde dem. Det er dem, der styrer denne generation. Så derfor er de vigtige for historien. Måske de bare er “Født under en heldig stjerne,” som man siger. De er forbillederne, selvom det er ubehageligt at tænke på. Det er med dem som forbilleder, at min generation vokser op og får ansvaret for verden.

For mig er stjerner noget andet. Jeg ser stjerner som inspirerende mennesker. Mandela og Obama for eksempel, de er stjerner for alle de mennesker, der gør dem til det. Man diskuterer, om stjerner fødes, når mennesker dør. “Endnu en stjerne skinner ned på os.” Som man læser på Facebook, når nogen har mistet en, de har kær.

Men måske er det omvendt, som at en stjerne fødes, når et menneske fødes. At en stjerne følger dig igennem hele livet. Som din livskraft.

Men om stjerner overhovedet har noget med mennesker at gøre, ved jeg ikke. Det har de sikkert ikke. Men jeg kan stadig godt lide at tænke, at det har. Det giver mig en tryghed. Min farfar var, er og vil altid være en stjerne. Jeg ser ham, når jeg kigger op. Han ligger der. Lige ved siden af min farmor. Han var en stjerne, det ved jeg, selvom jeg aldrig har mødt ham. Min fars øjne lyser op som stjerner, når han taler om ham. Mine forældre er stjerner. Det er dem, der er stjerner for mig. For min familie. De mennesker, der inspirerer mig hver dag, er mine stjerner.

Manden, der hjalp mig finde min mor, da jeg var faret vild i Lyngby Storcenter, da jeg var 7 år. Han var en stjerne. Selvom det måske var noget alle i hans situation ville have gjort, tænker jeg stadig på ham som en helt.

Stjerner har brug for mørke for at skinne. Det er fakta. Det er mørket omkring dem, der gør dem særlige.  Der er så mange symboler i det. Om de to sider – lyset og mørket, afhængige af hinanden for at overleve. Som vi mennesker er afhængige af hinanden.

Der er altid de to sider af alting. Livet og døden. Sorgen og glæden. Varmen og kulden.

Stjernerne i rummet er noget andet. Der er uendeligt mange af dem. Og selvom at jeg godt ved, at det ikke har meget med døden og himlen at gøre, kan jeg stadig godt lide at tænke, at det har. Jeg bliver angst for det uvisse. Der er ingen, der ved, hvad der sker, når man dør.  Man siger, der er smukt på den anden side. Det håber jeg. Jeg er alene i mit hoved med mine tanker. Tanker der kan få mig til at smile, men samtidig græde.

Jeg håber at min farfar, lige nu, står i et stort køkken og laver lækker mad. Imens min farmor sidder og strikker i lænestolen. De griner og hygger sig. Gør det de bedst kan lide.  Min faster er der også, hun har det skønt, der hvor hun er.

Jeg håber at hun ved, at H.P og hundene har det godt. Hun vidste, at det ville ske. Det gjorde vi alle. Det var det bedste, der kunne ske, selvom det er hårdt at indrømme. Tiden læger alle sår, siger man. Men at skrive det er som at rive plasteret langsomt og smertefuldt af. Som om tiden går baglæns, og man oplever det hele igen. AV

Jeg sidder på mit værelse derhjemme. Lytter til de gamle plader, min far har taget ned fra loftet. ”INNUENDO” strejfer mit øje. Alle farverne er i spil, tydeligt, selv igennem støvet. Det sidste album af Queen. ”The show must go on” indspillet, imens Mercury var dødeligt syg af aids. Den fylder mit hoved med tanker. Han vidste, at han skulle dø. Albummet kører i baggrunden. Bærer et tydeligt præg af, at de vidste, det var ved enden. En hentydning til noget ubehageligt, som ”innuendo” betyder. “These are the days of our lives”, “All God’s people” . Han dør og bliver endnu en stjerne på himlen. Ligger deroppe sammen med Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix og alle de andre.

De tre stjerner vil jeg putte i kategorien: Både levende og døde stjerner. Deres musik lever videre. Så det er lidt, som om de stadig er her. Dem ser jeg som inspirerende mennesker.  Selvom det er længe siden, at Mercury døde. Før jeg blev født endda. Så kom det tæt på mig. Jeg følte, at jeg kendte ham. Som med stjernerne i rummet. De er tæt på, selvom de er meget langt væk.

Så er der de sidste stjerner. Måske de vigtigste af dem alle. Dem, der bliver glemt og gemt væk. De lavest stillede i samfundet. Den enlige mor, kassedamen, der knokler røven ud af bukserne for at forsørge sine børn, og parkeringsvagten, der egentlig bare prøver at gøre sit arbejde. De fortjener at blive nævnt, og set som de stjerner, de i virkeligheden er. Der er så meget mørke omkring dem. Men alligevel kæmper de videre.

Det er mennesker, der gør mennesker til stjerner, til noget særligt. Ligesom mørket omkring stjernerne gør dem særlige. Livet kan ikke leves uden modgang. Stars can’t shine without darkness.

”Ansigtet er et vindue til sjælen” . Sådan har jeg ofte beskrevet mennesker omkring mig. Måske uden at kende dem, men også tætte venner. Nogle ville nok nærmere sige, at øjet er et vindue til sjælen. Man kan altså se igennem folk, kigge ind af vinduet og lære dem bedre at kende.

Men hvorfor tror vi, at det er sådan, man har jo tit hørt vendingen, ”jeg kan se det i hendes øjne” . Man ved, at hun ikke lyver, og så gør hun det måske alligevel. Hun har altså sat en facade op, spillet en anden, ændret på den scene, der udspiller sig bag vinduet. Måske har hun dækket sig til i form af makeup eller botox, eller også er hun en af dem, der kan ændre sig selv og spille skuespil.

Skuespillere. Mange mener at kende deres største idoler eller hende på scenen. ”Jeg ved, at hun er nervøs og bange for mange mennesker” . De har spillet en rolle, på en scene eller bag kameraet, bag vinduet. Det er en anden verden, vi kigger ind i. Vi ser dem måske, som de ville ønske, de var, eller også har det intet med virkeligheden at gøre. Det kan vi ikke vide, for vi snakker ikke med dem. Bare ved at se på deres ansigter kan vi kun gætte. Og ansigtet er jo fordrejet til at ligne en anden person. Altså en slags facade.

Kender vi i virkeligheden folk, som de er? Kan jeg egentlig tillade mig at udtale mig om mennesker, jeg ikke kender? Det mener jeg ikke. Mange mener, at den person man kender bedst er sig selv, og at ingen vil kende nogen bedre, end de kender sig selv. Når vi er sammen med os selv, vores jeg, med vores fælles tanker, er der ingen laden som om, facader eller makeup til at dække sandheden. Vi lyver ikke i dette rum, og derfor er vi tættest med os selv. Vi har nemlig alle en facade, vi kan benytte os af i usikre situationer udenfor vores jeg, når svigermor besøger os, til eksamen, når vi møder nye mennesker, generelt er det noget, vi bruger, hvis vi ikke føler, at situationen er tryg nok uden.

Facaden kan enten være noget, man gemmer sig bagved, men det kan også være et statement. Mange unge pynter sig selv med piercinger i ansigtet. Det kan være rigtig flot, men mange mener også, at det sender et signal, om at man ikke har helt rent mel i posen. Piercinger burde ikke være en dårlig ting, det burde blive set som en udsmykning, præcis ligesom sminke. Tatoveringer sender af en eller grund også et signal om en dårlig personlighed med en dårlig indflydelse på andre mennesker, men hvorfor skal tatoveringer i ansigtet være forbudt? Det ændrer ens udseende og sætter en facade op, præcis ligesom makeup, piercinger og skuespil gør.

Så er ansigtet i virkeligheden et vindue til sjælen? Måske ikke. Jeg kan ikke vide, hvem folk er ud fra deres udseende, facader og opførsel. Jeg kan i virkeligheden ikke vide præcis, hvem de er uden at snakke med dem først. Jeg kan kun gætte og have en masse fordomme. Måske burde vi ikke dømme hinanden ud fra udseende og spille så kloge på hinanden. Vi burde nok nærmere tage os tiden til at lære hinanden at kende.

Ansigtet er nok ikke et vindue til sjælen, men nærmere en spejling af facaden.

Hvad er spejder egentlig, og hvad vil det sige at være spejder? Mange, der ikke har gået til spejder eller har oplevet det, har svært ved at tro, at det kan være sjovt at gå til: ”I laver jo ikke andet end at lave bål og binde knob” , siger de, og hver gang skal jeg forklare dem, hvad spejder egentlig går ud på, og hvad vi laver. For spejder er så meget mere end, hvad man lige går og tror.

Der er mange meninger om, hvad spejder egentlig er, men for mig handler det om fællesskab, samarbejde og sammenhold. Der er også en del adventure ved at være spejder. Lord Robert Baden-Powell, også kendt som B-P eller, som min gruppe kalder ham: Hyttefar, var den mand, der startede hele spejderbevægelsen.

B-P skabte spejderbevægelsen, da han imponeret så, hvilket arbejde alle de unge børn udførte i hæren. De blev nemlig brugt på udkigsposter, som hospitalshjælpere og andre ting. Han mente, at så unge drenge burde have andre og sundere interesser end at være i militæret. Han begyndte derfor at omskrive sit lærestof, ”Aids for Scouting”, der oprindeligt var beregnet på militære spejdere, altså rekognoscering. Resultatet var en række hæfter,  ”Scouting for Boys” , der blev revet væk hos bladhandlerne.

B-P fik lov af en ven til at afholde en lejr med nogle udvalgte drenge i Island, for at ideen om en større bevægelse kunne afprøves. Det har ført til, at der bliver afholdt store lejre hvert fjerde år, og det er lige så stort hvis ikke næsten større end landsstævnet eller måske en fodboldkamp. Der er rigtig mange spejdere i Danmark, flere end man lige går og tror, og på disse lejre kommer der også nogle fra udlandet.

Her til sommer er der en stor lejr igen. Lejren bliver Danmarks største spejderlejr, hvor 40.000 danske og internationale spejdere mødes i naturskønne omgivelser i Sønderborg fra den 22. til den 30. juli 2017, og den skal jeg selvfølgelig også med til. Når der kommer så mange mennesker, bor vi alle på en kæmpe mark (i 2012 var området på størrelse med 335 fodboldbaner til 37.334 spejdere) og laver ligesom vores egen lille by, som vi bor i den uge, vi er der.

Nu hvor Danmarks største spejderlejr er på vej, vil man gerne fortælle lidt om det, og hvad man har oplevet på andre store lejre. Problemet er bare, at man på en måde bliver stoppet, fordi man ved, at andre ikke vil høre rigtigt efter med lyttende ører, fordi de ikke har lyst til at høre om ens spejderoplevelser, men måske hellere vil snakke om håndbold, fodbold eller lignende. Vi kan mere, når vi løfter i flok, og endelig skal vi på Spejdernes Lejr hver for sig og sammen tage ansvar for den verden, vi er en del af. Det er præcis, hvad Danmarks stærkeste fællesskab handler om. Ikke bare når vi mødes i Sønderborg til sommer, men også før og efter lejren.

Spejderlejren i år har et motto: ”På Spejdernes Lejr 2017 skal vi sætte spor i os selv, hinanden og omverdenen.”

Som spejder er éns vigtigste påklædning tørklædet, for det fortæller, hvor man kommer fra. Man skal også helst have sin uniform på, men hvis det er varmt, må man gerne tage den af, men skal beholde tørklædet på. Nogle spejdere har en stram regel med, at tørklædet er det første, man tager på om morgenen, og det sidste, man tager af om aftenen.

Det med, at spejderne senere blev uniformeret, har ikke noget med militærets tankegang at gøre. Formålet var en synliggørelse af bevægelsen, en praktisk påklædning, og ikke mindst at der så ikke synligt var forskel på de rige drenge og de fattigere. Spejdere har alle noget tilfælles. Det kan godt være, at vi alle har forskellige tørklæder, kommer forskellige steder fra og ikke er så mange i vores egen lille spejdergruppe, men vi er en større gruppe, når vi bliver set som et korps. Så har det ikke mere noget med tørklædet eller hvor man kommer fra at gøre, men hvilken form for spejder man er, om man er medlem af ”Det Danske Spejderkorps, KFUM-spejderne, De Grønne Pigespejdere, Danske Baptisters Spejderkorps, De gule spejdere eller Dansk Spejderkorps Sydslesvig.” Når vi så alle bliver set sammen, bliver vi samlet til en stor gruppe, og det er spejdere. Så kan man virkelig mærke, at man har noget til fælles med mange andre, som man ikke engang kender.

Det at vide, at man er én af mange, bliver man glad af inden i, og man ved, at man ikke er alene om følelsen.

På natløb lever man sig lidt ind i en fantasirolle, fordi der tit bliver opdigtet en handling med noget eller nogen, man skal redde. På den måde lever man sig ind i en fantasiverden, også selvom der er nogle virkelige ting med i handlingen som fx førstehjælp.

Når vi på fx et natløb skal lave førstehjælp, binde knob, lave bål eller måske løse en forhindring, er det primært, fordi vi skal bruge vores færdigheder og se, om vi kan finde ud af det, vi har lært. Angående førstehjælp så ved man ikke, hvordan man vil reagere, når man står i den virkelige situation. Derfor er det også meget rart at prøve, så man nogenlunde ved, hvordan det foregår, og hvordan man skal håndtere det. Når man er på natløb, lever man sig mere ind i rollen, fordi der er opbygget handling, og så ser man førstehjælp på en lidt anden måde, end hvis man havde stået og øvet sig, også selvom man ved, det ikke er rigtigt. Det er virkelig fedt at være i naturen og kunne klare sig selv uden alle de fancy hjælpemidler, vi har nu til dags. Vi kan og bruger selvfølgelig også nogle af de hjælpemidler, men man skal stadig klare sig på en anden måde.

Der er også mange, der synes, det er mærkeligt at tage på et spejderløb/natløb. Hvad er meningen med at gå rundt og løse nogle opgaver? Til det spørgsmål kan jeg kun sige, at det er sjovt, og at der med garanti er mange, som jeg kender, der ikke vil kunne klare det og måske give op halvvejs, hvor en spejder måske har mere udholdenhed og kan klare lidt mere end andre, fordi vi (måske) ved, hvordan vi skal gøre i de forskellige situationer.

Jeg kendte engang en pige, der sagde direkte til mig, at spejder ikke var sjovt, og imellem linjerne sagde, at det kun var for nørder. Jeg spurgte hende så, om hun selv havde gået til spejder, hvortil hun svarede, at det havde hun ikke. Der blev jeg så irriteret på hende, fordi hvordan kunne man overhovedet udtale sig om sådan noget, når man ikke selv havde gået til det og ved, hvordan det er. Jeg har ikke noget imod mennesker, der udtaler sig sådan om spejder, hvis de selv har prøvet det, men når man ligefrem begynder at kritisere det på den måde, og man ikke selv har gået til det, så kan jeg virkelig blive irriteret. Det irriterer mig mest, at andre ikke kan forstå, hvorfor jeg godt kan lide det, og de synes, det er nederen, når jeg bare nævner noget om eller omkring spejder.

I forhold til nogens meninger kan man sammenligne spejder med at lave sine lektier. ”Laver du virkelig alle dine lektier? No life” og ”nå, så du går til spejder? No life” .

Når jeg siger til andre, at jeg er spejder, har jeg næsten altid tanken i baghovedet om, hvad de nu tænker om mig. Er jeg lige pludselig ikke den samme som for to sekunder siden, bare fordi jeg har fortalt dem, at jeg er spejder?

Det oplevede jeg, for eksempel da jeg var i gang med at skrive mit essay. Der var nemlig, nogen der syntes, at det var mærkeligt og måske ikke et passende emne at skrive om i et essay. Jeg har også mødt en, der først ud fra at vide, at jeg var spejder, dømte mig som nørd, kikset og speciel på den dårlige måde, men da personen lærte mig at kende, fik hun et helt nyt og godt syn på, hvordan spejdere også kan være.

Jeg er blå spejder (Det Danske Spejderkorps) og har været det i 11 år. Det lyder som lang tid, og det er det for så vidt også, men jeg går stadig til det med et kæmpe smil. Hele min familie er også spejdere, bare ikke lige min far, men han har trods alt været det, da han var barn og teenager. Det bedste ved, at alle i familien er spejdere, er, at vi kan tage på spejderlejr sammen og dele store spejderoplevelser med hinanden, og at vi alle sammen har noget til fælles.

Grunden til, jeg startede til spejder, var nok, at mine forældre havde gået til det, og det derigennem ligesom trak lidt. Grunden til, at jeg stadig er spejder, er, fordi det fællesskab, der er imellem os spejdere, er vildt fedt. Vi hygger, har det sjovt, driller hinanden, og når vi sidder og hygger omkring aftenbålet, kan man virkelig mærke, hvor godt vi har det sammen, der kan næsten ikke findes ord nok til at forklare det med.

Det er også rigtig sjovt at tage mærker. Jeg elsker specielt at tage vandremærker, og jeg ved ikke rigtig hvorfor, men tror bare, at det der med at vandre langt lige er noget for mig. Det længste, jeg har gået, er 75 km på 24 timer inklusiv 6 timers søvn. Det er langt, men det er også en mega fed følelse, når man har gjort det. Man føler sig en smule uovervindelig og selvfølgelig også øm i benene.

Der er jo mange, der synes, at det er mærkeligt at gå til, de synes, det er kedeligt, og de vil ikke snakke om det, men når de står i et dilemma, kan de spørge om selv de simpleste ting, så som hvor nord, syd, øst og vest er. På en måde kan man godt føle sig en lille smule udnyttet, fordi de vil ikke rigtig høre på én, når man snakker om spejder, men når de så ikke kan finde ud af, hvor øst er, så bliver spejder lige pludselig interessant nok for dem.

Spejder kan også ses på en anden måde. Ligesom når mor og far lærer barnet at rydde op efter sig eller tømme skraldespanden, så kan spejder også være et godt grundlag for opdragelsen mm. Der er meget med samarbejde, pli over for andre, hvordan man klarer sig i naturen, venskaber og mange andre ting.

For 10 år siden var det meget in at gå til spejder, men den interesse har ligesom vist sig ikke at være så attraktiv mere. Nu er det mere fodbold og håndbold, der trækker mennesker til, og det er på sin vis meget ærgerligt. Men der vil altid være nogen, der stadig holder ved, og forbliver spejdere lang tid endnu.

Tillid er en farlig ting, der kan påvirke os på så mange forskellige måder. Den kan få os til at gøre dumme ting, som man senere tænker tilbage på og undrer sig over, hvorfor man dog kunne finde på at gøre det.

I vores samfund er tillid et af de mange fundamenter, som gør at vi ikke alle ender i forfald. Eksempler på denne tillid er ytringsfriheden. I vores land har vi valgt at have tillid til, at vores medmennesker ikke vil støde hinanden men kunne stå til ansvar for, hvordan de udtrykker deres egne meninger og holdninger.

Der er mange tilfælde i vores samfund, hvor man kan få lov til at gøre noget, for eksempel tage i en bilvask, selv hvis man har glemt sin pung, fordi ejeren har tillid til, at chaufføren vil køre hjem og hente sin pung, komme tilbage og betale eller betale dobbelt pris næste gang.

Det er til gengæld også her, hvor det begynder at gå galt i vores samfund, da vores medmennesker ikke er så gode, som vi har lyst til at tro. Der er folk i vores samfund, der misbruger vores ytringsfrihed, ved at bruge den som argument for, at de kan sige lige, hvad de har lyst til, og at det gør det ok, at de støder andre mennesker, som også er en del af deres samfund. Og de fleste chauffører, der får muligheden, ville bare køre af sted uden at overveje, at de muligvis har ødelagt bilvaskerens gode tillid. Det er den selviskhed, som kan forvandle vores tillidsfulde og tilgivende samfund i Danmark til et kontrolleret land, hvor halvdelen af ordbogen er bandlyst, da det kan sammensættes på en måde, hvorpå det støder minoriteter eller enkeltpersoner. Et Danmark, hvor man ikke har mulighed for at komme fra et sted, hvis man ikke har mulighed for at betale, og muligvis vil blive smidt i fængsel pga. en bagatel såsom at have glemt sin pung.

Vores tillid til hinanden er stor, ikke kun i vores eget land, men også i andres. Der har i meget lang tid været åbne grænser mellem Sverige og Danmark, men pga. de nylige episoder der har været ved Krudttønden og i Malmø, er der nu for første gang i lang tid blevet indført grænsekontrol imellem Sverige og Danmark. Den terror der har påvirket vores land, har ikke kun påvirket os ved at dræbe vores mennesker, men også ved at den har brudt den tillid, som vi har til hinanden. Folk der kan genkendes til at være af mellemøstlig herkomst, er nu blevet Danmarks eksempel på mangel på tillid, det er dem, der bliver tjekket på grænsekontrollen, ikke os med etnisk herkomst.

Et eksempel på dette var, da jeg tidligere i vinters skulle til Sverige og forbi grænsekontrollen, men jeg havde glemt mit pas på skolen. Min familie og jeg kørte uden og blev lukket lige igennem, højst sandsynligt fordi vi bare lignede normale danskere. Jeg synes ikke at man burde skærpe grænsekontrollen, men som det mindste kan man gøre den ligelig for alle, der skal bevæge sig mellem landene for ikke at støde dele af befolkningen. Det deler vores befolkning op, og der dannes borgerkrig mellem racerne i Danmark.

Vores tillid er splittet. Vi ved ikke længere hvem vi kan stole på, og hvem der vil forråde os for deres egen nytte. Hvis det eskalerer, vil Danmark ikke længere være, som det førhen har været. En af de største værdier som vores samfund er opbygget omkring, er på vej ud af vinduet.

Jeg ved ikke med resten af Danmark, men jeg har tillid til, at vi kan blive som vi førhen var. Hvor race ikke var et problem, og hvor man kunne stole på sine medmennesker, uden at være bange for at de forråder en.

Beatet. Rytmen. Tonen. Jeg kendte stemmen. Jeg kendte sangen. Endnu en gang blev jeg fanget og viklet ind i dets toner. Whitney Houston’s “Didn’t we almost have it all” spillede i kapellets gamle og brugte højtalere. Lyden af snøft og gråd rungede i den hvidmalede bygning og blev en del af mindet. Det var hans yndlingssang, samt min. Jeg voksede op med den spillende på farmors og farfars gamle pladespiller i det slidte kolonihavehus i Søborg. Det bedste sted at opholde sig i den ellers store farlige verden. Dengang var sangens sprog fremmed og teksten uforståelig, men jeg kunne nynne med, mens farfar vuggede mig i sine arme. Det var lige inden, han blev syg. I over ti år levede min farfar med sygdommen Alzheimers. Med tiden var det meste af hans hukommelse blevet taget fra ham, samt minderne med sin familie. Der sad vi så med vores knuste hjerter og tomme våde øjne. Mens alt andet syntes at bryde sammen foran mig, fortsatte musikken. Den forsvandt ikke. Jeg knugede farmors hånd, mens jeg sendte hende et følelsesladet blik. Hun kyssede blidt min hånd, hvorefter hun lukkede øjnene i og vuggede stille med til takten.

Hvad er der ved den? Denne melodiøse musik. Vellykket drager den os med ind i dets univers af lyd. Vi behøver musik. For nogle er musikken deres lidenskab og tro. De dedikerer deres liv til noget så smukt, at ikke engang ord behøves for at slå folk omkuld. Der er mange forskellige sprog i verden, men med musikken kan alle kommunikeres gennem ét universelt sprog For andre er musikken ren underholdning. Overalt kan den findes. Fra supermarkederne til turistbusserne i Københavns lange stræder og gader.

I nyhederne snakker man endda om, at musikken har taget overhånd. Den forfølger os. Jeg vil dog mene, at det er omvendt. Vi behøver musik. Ellers ville ingen jo bruge tid på det? Hovedtelefonerne bliver medbragt til enhver anledning. Måske for at komme af med tankerne, der fylder så meget. Musikken dunker højt i cyklisternes ører ude i det daglige travle liv. Høje beats kører rundt i hovedet på dem, og derfor er musikken et let offer at give skylden for trafikulykkerne. I USA fik rockbandet Marilyn Manson skylden for den frygt, der terroriserede rundt i samfundet. Deres eksistens og musikgenre spillede en stor rolle i nyhederne om skoleskyderiet i Columbine. Så når nyhederne skræmmer os, glemmer vi nogle gange alt det gode ved musikken. Løberne bruger det som motivation. Og om aftenen synger forældrene for børnene, når de skal puttes. På stadierne synges der med til landets nationalsang, og en stemning af overdreven stolthed opstår.

Musikken er også med til at binde os sammen. Ét fællesskab som består af flere forskelligheder. Der findes nemlig flere forskellige genrer. Musikkens genrer. Dem bruger vi til at beskrive musikken, men også til at klassificere “lytterne” i grupper. Mennesker og specielt unge har det med at anslå, hvordan folk er efter deres smag i musik. De såkaldte fordomme. Er man stor fan af heavy metal, kan man simpelthen lide ond musik. Det er stressende, rastløst, dystert og skræmmende, så hvorfor skulle personerne, der lytter til det, ikke også være det? Er man på den anden side mere til klassisk, er man sikkert kedelig og uinteressant. Det er det, vi gør. Putter folk i kasser efter musiksmag og regner med personligheden også passer ind. Musik er en måde at udtrykke sig på og kommunikere. Den er muligvis med til at fortælle noget om vores indre værdier, men fordommene må aftage, da det kun gør det sværere for os selv.

“Upassende”, er ordet mange nok ville sige, hvis der blev spillet heavy metal til en højtidelig begravelsesceremoni. En fest med klassisk musik ville også være kedelig. Men hvem har egentlig bestemt det?

Musik er følelser. Den er med til at afspejle vores humør samt stemningen omkring os. Mange af os har det med at lytte til musik for at blive stimuleret rent følelsesmæssigt. Sætter jeg en sang på, dannes der billeder i mit hoved af den lyd, der udsendes. Det er derfor vigtigt for mig at kunne spejle mig i det, jeg vælger at lytte til. Føler jeg mig ensom, sætter jeg noget højtråbende på, så følelsen overvindes på trods af min indre modstand. Det er det, musikken også kan. Mange kender sikkert det med at have en relation til en helt bestemt sang. Noget der vækker en indre følelse, som man måske egentlig helst vil gemme så langt væk som muligt.

Ordene der kom ud af højtalerne var ikke retfærdige. Følelsen af at vi var på nippet til det såkaldte perfekte uden fejl eller mangler. Det var unfair. Jeg følte, at vi alle blev snydt, og sangen bekræftede mig i min overbevisning. Jeg så ikke alt det smukke. Blomster i alverdens farver kredsede rundt om den hvide kiste, og lysene lyste Kapellet op. Mange var mødt op for at sige farvel en sidste gang, og det gik op for mig, hvor mange der holdt af ham.

Jeg udelukkede det ene ord, og så passede musikken bare bedre sammen. For vi havde jo det hele.

Hvis du kigger rundt mellem folk, i et klasseværelse, på stationen eller bare den familie der passerer dig på gaden. Du ser det måske ikke med det samme, men nogle gange kigger personerne dømmende på hinanden, ruller øjne, stirrer skarpt eller bare kigger nedladende. Det gør folk usikre på sig selv og tilværelsen. Jeg håber ikke, du ser det i det øjeblik, men desværre sker det, og det gør mange folk usikre. Ingen vil kigges sådan på, det er ubehageligt, og man begynder at tvivle på sig selv, for hvem vil ikke passe ind? Samfundet har desværre sine opfattelser af, hvad der er ”rigtigt” , og hvad der er ”forkert” , uanset hvad vi gør, vil kriterierne bare altid være der. Det var der i fortiden som for eksempel med, det var bedst at være tyk, da man så mest velhavende ud, og så skulle man være så bleg som muligt for at vise man ikke var arbejder, og skulle stå i solen hele tiden. Nu skal man være høj, slank, smuk, unik, sød, osv.

Ja, det er sejt at være modstander og gøre, hvad man selv vil, men det kræver rigtig meget mod, og det er desværre ikke alle der har det. Selvom kriterierne sætter mål for det enkelte individ, skader det mere end det gavner, da der er så mange, der prøver at opnå målet om at være perfekt, men mislykkes, og så går det først ned ad bakke. Det kan ende helt ud i, at folk tænker så grimt om sig selv, at de begynder at gøre skade på sig selv og blive indadvendt og dermed miste sit sociale liv. Det er en dårlig cyklus, som ingen har lyst til at være i.

Hvorfor man får de tanker? Man føler sig lille, irrelevant og ikke god nok. Men hvad er god nok overhovedet? Er det at have en flot krop, et klogt hoved, en masse venner? Jeg kunne blive ved. Har du nogensinde oplevet, ikke at ville sige noget højt i klassen, for måske ville de andre grine, hvis du sagde noget forkert? Det er en væmmelig følelse at have, at føle sig usikker. Ens mave snor sig sammen, man bliver tør i munden, og man er helt stille, og vil helst bare være usynlig, så ingen kan dømme dig. Hvorfor prøver vi så meget. Jeg tror, det er, fordi vi gerne vil accepteres og være gode nok. Accepteres af vores familie, vores omgangskreds og selv dem, som lige værdiger os et blik på gaden.

Dem, vi aldrig har snakket med før, kan betyde ligeså meget som dem, vi snakker med hver dag. Vi vil så gerne passe ind. Være den andre ser op til. Være lykkelig, for det er man jo, når man passer ind ikke? Det er jo egentlig latterligt. Hvorfor kan vi ikke være ligeglade? Jeg ville gerne være ligeglad, ville du ikke også? Det kræver mod og selvsikkerhed, og udtrykket at hvile i sig selv er en god beskrivelse. Mange unge har ikke erfaret nok i livet til at være det udtryk endnu, så de kæmper en hård kamp mod sig selv for at finde deres identitet. ”Man lærer af sine fejl”, det har jeg fået at vide gennem hele mit liv, af mine forældre, lærere og sågar også venner. For at opretholde den balance, der skal være, skal vi opleve lidt modgang for at få medgang.

Alle de dårlige tanker, som ingen kan høre, men som for en selv lyder som skingrende sirener, er forfærdelige at gå rundt med. Det fylder meget, især for folk der har selvværdsproblemer, dog har mange andre desværre også oplevet at være usikre. Usikre på sig selv, om det så er følelsesmæssigt, omhandlende andre og deres meninger eller om sig selv personligheds- og udseendemæssigt. Det er skræmmende, hvor meget det kan påvirke ens hverdag, og alt hvad man gør.

Størstedelen af skylden kan puttes på vores samfund og mediernes påvirkning på af især os unge, da det nærmest forventes, at vi skal leve op til alle idealerne og det perfekte. Hvem vil ikke opnå det? Men det er kun os selv, der bestemmer, om vi er gode nok eller ej.

Jeg synes, man skal stræbe efter mål og drømme, og yde sit bedste, så man kan være stolt af sig selv. Dog skal man ikke gå så meget op i det, at man kører sig selv fuldstændig i stykker og nedbryder sig selv.

Man har lov at være usikker, men man har også lov til at være selvsikker. Vi er ikke perfekte. Det er ingen. I stedet for at fokusere på det, der er negativt og skal ændres, så kan man altid se det fra den lyse side, og se hvor meget man kan i stedet. Det er en hård kamp, men ved eventuelt at give et kompliment til nogle af dine medmennesker, kan du gøre deres dag en hel del bedre, og også din egen.

Smil smitter, og desuden bruger du ikke nær så mange resurser på at være glad som på at være sur og trist.

For et par dage siden sad jeg i bilen med min mor. Vi havde lige været ude og handle. Mens vi så roligt sidder og griner over en eller anden sjov ting, min mor har sagt, afbryder hun med “Gud, se hvad klokken er. Du skal allerede afsted om en time” . Jeg kigger på klokken for lige at være sikker. Den er sgu god nok. “Man tror man har tid til alting, men det har man ikke. Tiden indhenter os simpelthen.” Det var derefter, at jeg kom til at tænke. For hvad er tid egentlig? Og hvad er mere dyrebart end tid?

Tid er en underlig, men fantastisk ting. Vi kan ikke være uden tid. Selvom det ikke er noget man tænker over, har det en kæmpe indflydelse på vores tilværelse. Hvis man ser bort fra, at vi faktisk ikke ville eksistere uden tid, så har tidsrammer og klokkeslag meget at sige i vores travle hverdag. Vi står op, højst sandsynligt på grund af en alarm vi har sat dagen før, og derefter gør vi os klar til at skulle nå toget til tiden. Vi må endelig ikke komme for sent. Hvert minut tæller. Og der er måske noget i det, min mor siger: At man tror, man har tid til alting, men pludselig er al tiden gået og man nåede ikke halvdelen af det, man regnede med. Det bliver også beskrevet i teksten ‘Tidens myte’. Det bliver forklaret, hvordan jo ældre man bliver, jo hurtigere føler man, at tiden går og ‘Jo mere man vil nå arbejdsliv og fritid, desto dårligere tid har man til det. Man bliver ædt af tiden.’. Det er en fantastisk sætning. For tiden æder os op. Vi mister og bruger for meget tid på at prøve for meget. Man kan også vende sætningen rundt og sige, at det er os, der æder tiden og ikke tiden, der æder os. For vi bruger det meste af vores tid på at nå arbejde, skole og fritid. Vi opbruger og nærmest æder tiden, ligesom tiden samtidig æder os.

På mange punkter minder jeg om min mor, men på endnu flere punkter er jeg en fuldkommen modsætning. Min far og jeg er nok mere ens, vi tager tingene, som de kommer. Vi har styr på tiden, når det gælder vigtige ting som f.eks. skole og arbejde, hvor derimod min mor altid stresser rundt en time før, fordi hun skal være der i god tid. Hun siger også altid, at min far og jeg har en mærkelig opfattelse af tiden. At vi altid tror, at vi har mere tid, end vi egentlig har. Selvom min mors opfattelse af tid for mig er lidt hysterisk og irriterende, kan jeg på samme måde godt se, at det også er godt at være i god tid. Det er bedre at være der for tidligt end at komme for sent. Jeg ville sige, at min mor er for opsat på at nå alting inden for et bestemt tidsrum. Jeg ved ikke hvorfor, men princippet i at skynde sig helt vildt ud af døren, for at indse at man har sat næsten en time af til en tur, der egentlig kun tager en halv time, irriterer mig. Hvorfor ikke bare tage det stille og roligt, men stadig komme til tiden. Prøve at få det bedste ud af hvert minut uden at se alt man skal som en tidsfælde. Prøv at tænk, hvis man var i stand til at gøre hver time til noget dyrebart, og føle man har brugt tiden fornuftigt. Ikke spilde tiden, men heller ikke æde den. Det må være en dyd at finde den smukke balance mellem begge og det er kun de færreste, der faktisk kan mestre dette. Hvis det overhovedet er muligt.

Som det bliver beskrevet i Augustins tekst ‘Tiden’, siger han, at vi alle forstår og ved, hvad tid er, men hvis nogen kommer og spørger, er man ude af stand til at forklare. Han siger også ‘Hvis intet tid gik forbi, var der ingen fortid, og hvis intet kom, var der ingen fremtid, og hvis intet var, så var der ingen nutid’. Jeg er fuldkommen enig.

For hvis intet skete eller kommer til at ske, ville nutiden heller ikke eksistere. Og hvis nutiden altid var nutiden og ikke blev til fortid, ville det ikke være tid, men evighed, som der også bliver skrevet i teksten. For hvis der ingen fortid eller fremtid var, ville vi kun være der, hvor vi er nu og intet mere ville ske. De tre tider fortid, nutid og fremtid forekommer hele tiden. Hvert et nyt sekund du oplever og sidder i lige nu, er nutid. Det, du lavede for 5 minutter siden, er fortid. Det, du skal til at gøre, er fremtid. Fortid er med til at skabe og påvirke nutiden, nutid skaber fremtid, som en dag vil blive nutid og senere til fortid. Tid ville ikke være uden nogen af de tre tider.

Det bedste jeg ved er at glemme tiden. Ikke på den måde, at man glemmer tiden og kommer for sent i skole, men at være i så godt selskab og have det så sjovt at man helt glemmer, hvad man ellers skal. Der er dog noget, som jeg ikke har forstået lige siden, jeg har været helt lille. Konceptet med at tiden flyver hurtigere, jo sjovere man har det. Hvis man keder sig eller ikke nyder det man laver, går tiden utroligt langsomt. Jeg synes det er uretfærdigt. Hvorfor skal de gode stunder føles så korte og de kedelige så lange? Selvom jeg på en måde synes, at det er uretfærdigt, så kan jeg også godt se det gode ved, at de gode stunder ikke altid varer for evigt. For hvis alt hele tiden var godt, ville vi slet ikke vide, hvad det gode var mere. De gode stunder forbliver gode, fordi de ikke varer evigt. Man kan også sammenligne det med ens livret. Man elsker at få den, men man elsker den endnu højere, fordi man ikke får den særligt ofte. Det er det, der gør den speciel. Det samme med de korte, men gode stunder. Det gør dem mere specielle.

Tid er som sagt en underlig ting, men den kan ikke beskrives eller forklares. Tiden er smuk, fantastisk, mystisk og uforudsigelig. Vi ved hvad fortiden har bragt, ingen ved hvad fremtiden bringer og nutiden er vi kun selv herre over. Komponisten Karl Aage Rasmussen har også sagt følgende: ‘Vi må finde os i at arkivere tidsoplevelsen i skuffen med ting vi ikke ved hvad er. At det ikke gør den ligegyldig, er indlysende, da den her kommer i selskab med andre vigtige, f.eks. kærligheden og døden.’

For vi ved ikke hvad tid er og vi finder nok aldrig helt ud af hvad det er. Vi lever i tiden, men vi er nødt til, som Karl Aage Rasmussen har sagt, at lægge tiden i skuffen med ting vi ikke ved hvad er. For tid kan ikke beskrives, den er bare.

Vi forpligter os til ting hele tiden. Forpligtelser i familien, blandt vennerne, på skolen, på arbejdet, i samfundet, i Danmark, i verden. Alt er en stor forpligtelse. Folk der regner med os. Men er der i grunden for mange forpligtelser forbundet med livet som menneske i dag? Ingen tvivl om, at det er der.

Fra den dag vi bliver født, er vi forpligtet til et helt samfund og dets system. Vi er forpligtet til at gå i skole fra det år, vi fylder 6 år, til den dag vi forlader 9. Klasse. Undervisningspligt. Det er vi på papiret forpligtet til. Uden for papiret er vi forpligtet til at indgå et fællesskab med de andre i klassen. Alle dem vi omgås med til hverdag.

Søndag d. 7 august forpligtede jeg mig i et år til at indgå i et kæmpe fællesskab. En efterskole. Nye forbindelser, nye venner, nye rutiner. Det hele havde jeg sagt ja til, inden jeg startede. Det var egentlig ikke noget, jeg havde tænkt så meget over. Før jeg startede på efterskolen, var det eneste, jeg havde brug for, at få nye forbindelser og forpligtelser. Jeg havde brug for forandring i mit liv – at der skulle ske noget nyt. Og det fik jeg. Jeg har aldrig i mit liv oplevet så mange forpligtelser samlet på et sted. Men det er lige præcis det, jeg elsker ved efterskole. At man har et kæmpe ansvar i forhold til de andre elever. Alle puslespilsbrikkerne skal være der, for at det store billede kan gå op. For at det overhovedet kan blive til noget. Nogle brikker er større end andre, men alle brikker er lige vigtige. Jeg er helt vild med det.

Så måske er det alligevel ikke så slemt med alle de forpligtelser. Måske er det med til at gøre vores liv interessant. Anderledes fra hinanden. Forskellige forpligtelser er lig med forskellige mennesker. Det at vi har et ansvar over for andre mennesker, er et spændende element i vores ellers så ensartede hverdag. Hvis vi allesammen bare gik rundt om os selv og var fuldstændig ligeglade med dem omkring os, ville vi, og hele samfundet, nok bryde fuldstændig sammen. Den danske velfærdsstat ville aldrig fungere, hvis vi ikke kunne forpligte os til staten og hinanden. Al industri ville bryde sammen, hvis der manglede et element, der pludselig havde besluttet sig for at stoppe med at forpligte sig.

Hvis hele verden en dag stoppede med at kunne forpligte sig til hinanden, tror jeg, at alt ville bryde sammen. De første par timer – måske dage, ville det nok være meget fedt. Som en dans på roser. Men efter et par dage, ville tornene fra rosernes grene, begynde at bore sine spidser ind i foden. Alle for alle. Alle for en. Alle for ingen. Alle mod alle. En verdensrevolution om en så lille, dog essentiel ting.

Man snakker så meget om alle de ting, vi i verden ikke har til fælles – men måske er forpligtelsen en af de ting vi har mest til fælles.

Er det så ikke også snart på tide, at vi i verden får øjnene op for, hvor vigtigt det er? En bunke af flygtninge banker på hos de lande, der danser på en lyserød sky. Og det eneste vi gør, er at smække døren lige i hovedet på dem. Men vi er jo allesammen mennesker. Har vi ikke de samme forpligtelser til en flygtning fra Syrien som vores nabo? Spørger man mig, er svaret klart og tydeligt. Selvfølgelig har vi det. Vi glemmer ofte blandt krig og had, at noget uforklarligt har sat mennesker på jorden, og at vi allesammen fra starten havde de samme muligheder og rettigheder til at være, hvor vi ville. Jeg ved godt, at økonomien i de forskellige lande ikke kan holde til alle flygtningene, men for mig er det værd at forsøge at finde en løsning, der inkluderer alle.

Det er den vigtigste forpligtelse vi har som mennesker.

Jeg står foran spejlet stærkt optaget af at betragte bulerne, strækmærkerne og alle de områder, som jeg altid har væmmedes ved. Jeg er frustreret. Min puls stiger, og jeg får svedige håndflader. Jeg får lyst til at skrige. Højt. Så højt at smerten inden i forsvinder. Mit hoved bliver fyldt med negative tanker. Det er som en bølge af negativitet, som kraftigt strømmer ind over mig. Jeg bliver væltet omkuld og synker langsomt mod bunden. Jeg skriger om hjælp, men ingen kan høre mig. Jeg er helt alene. Jeg prøver ihærdigt at komme op, men jeg er fanget. Fanget af de negative tanker og fanget i en verden, hvor jeg ikke vil kunne acceptere mig selv, for den jeg er.

Vi bliver hver dag påvirket af medierne. Vi bliver påvirket af, hvordan andre mennesker ser ud, hvordan deres livsstil er, om de har en dyr tøjstil, eller om de lever lykkeligere end en selv. Vi sammenligner hele tiden os selv med andre mennesker på fx. Instagram for at kunne finde ’fejlene’ ved os selv. Netop det medie afspejler kun det perfekte, og det er med til at skabe, at vi får negative tanker som gør, at vi skal have noget at være utilfredse med. Vi er aldrig 100% tilfredse med, hvem vi er. På internettet fremstår de flestes liv som ’perfekte’. De lever det ideale liv, hvor man har en veltrænet krop, en dyr livsstil og er lykkelig hele tiden, men det er de færreste mennesker, som har det sådan, som man ifølge idealerne skal have for at være et ordenligt og acceptabelt menneske. Der gemmer sig meget bag facaden, og næsten alle mennesker har noget, de kæmper med. De viser det bare ikke, for det ville jo være med til at ødelægge glansbilledet af, hvordan det ”perfekte” menneske egentligt er.

Du kan som menneske synke så langt ned, at det er umuligt for dig at komme op. Du kan være lænket fast til bunden, og den eneste mulighed er, at du skal have en hjælpende hånd for at kunne komme op og væk fra det helvede, du er fanget i. Nogle mennesker laver psykisk terror på sig selv. De kan være ramt af angst, en spiseforstyrrelse, depression eller en anden sygdom, som gør, at de hver dag kæmper for at kunne blive raske. Det er en livslang kamp, som kan være enormt svær at overvinde, da man skal være sin egen modstander. Det en kamp, man bliver nødt til at tage, da det vil kunne koste én livet i sidste ende.

Jeg har haft nogle svære tider i mit liv. Jeg har været nede og skrabe bunden en del gange. Jeg har været en meget usikker pige uden så meget selvtillid. Jeg har brugt flere timer foran spejlet, og mit eneste fokus har været mine ’fejl’. Jeg har fokuseret på, at jeg ikke var god nok, og at jeg helt sikkert ikke passede ind i mængden. Men jeg indså, at jeg tog fejl. Jeg tvang mig selv til at se op, og mine forgrædte øjne blev mødt af en masse hjælpende hænder. En masse hænder, som var villige til at hjælpe mig på rette vej. Jeg indså, at jeg havde et problem. Et problem jeg ikke ville være i stand til at kunne løse på egen hånd. Jeg kom derfor i behandling. Jeg kom ind i en verden af fuld psykologi, terapi og sundhed. De hjalp mig væk fra det helvede, jeg selv havde skabt. De lærte mig, at man skal elske og acceptere, hvem man er.

Jeg lærte at komme væk fra den usikre bund, hvor jeg hele tiden sank længere og længere ned. Jeg kom op til overfladen og indså, hvor skidt jeg havde det med mig selv, og hvordan jeg egentligt behandlede mig selv, da jeg havde det dårligst.

Jeg har nu lært at værdsætte, hvem jeg er, og ikke kun fokusere på alle mine fejl, men jeg har valgt at se på dem som en del af mig, og det er dem, som er med til at gøre mig til den, jeg er. Hende Caroline, jeg er så stolt af.

Jeg står nu og kigger i spejlet, og det eneste jeg ser er en smilende pige, som har så meget at byde på, og hun vil ikke lade nogen eller noget stå i vejen for hende. Hun udstråler selvtillid, og hun vil aldrig ramme bunden igen. Jeg vil aldrig ramme bunden igen.

Den første kuffert, jeg pakkede helt selv, var lyserød. Jeg husker tydeligt hvordan plastikken med det regnbuefarvede glimmer glitrede i solens stråler, da den lille kuffert blev lagt i baggagerummet på den sorte Skoda, som inden for en time ville drage sydpå for senere at ramme Frankrig.

Den lille lyserøde kuffert var tæt pakket med alverdens ting. Tre bamser, 12 tuscher, der alle næsten virkede, et armbåndsur, hvis batteri for længst var dødt, fire hårelastikker og alverdens andre fuldkommen nytteløse ting, som jeg ikke brugte på hele ferien, men som dog stadig var vigtige at få med, hvis man nu lige pludselig skulle bruge dem.

Siden da har jeg pakket min kuffert så mange gange, at jeg ikke længere har en ide om, hvilken anledning jeg har pakket til, og hvor jeg skulle hen.

Kufferten er den første, jeg tænker på, når ordet bagage bliver nævnt. Men bagage er mange ting. Bagage kan også være, hvad folk har med sig i bagagen. Hvad der er sket for den enkelte person i deres liv. De handlinger, oplevelser og minder, som har været med til at forme og skabe deres liv på nøjagtig den måde, som gør, at de står her med det liv, de har.

Jeg mener personligt, at ens fortid er ens egen. Hvis man har lavet noget, man ikke er stolt af, noget man skammer sig over, så skal man have lov til at pakke dem væk bagerst i kufferten, eller måske endda smide dem ud, og aldrig have dem med mere.

Men det er også disse oplevelser, som vi måske gerne ville lade ligge, der fortæller mest om, hvem vi er, og hvorfor vi handler, som vi gør.

For mig kan personlig bagage være bestemte minder eller oplevelser. Min egen består nok mest af helt bestemte minder. Ikke altid bestemte hændelser.

Lige så ofte er de ting bare en duft, en følelse, et bestemt lys eller en farve. Fælles for det hele er, at det alt sammen er noget, som jeg har været glad for, rørt over eller noget, som har gjort indtryk på mig på en eller anden måde. Ting, som jeg har besluttet mig for aldrig at glemme, og ting som jeg aldrig kan glemme.

Man kan sammenligne med kufferten og dens indhold. Der er mange forskellige måder at pakke på. Nogle pakker for lidt, mens andre pakker for meget. De, der pakker for meget, ender altid med at slæbe sig halvt ihjel på grund af overvægt af nytteløse ting.

Det samme gælder for de ting, man vælger at huske gennem sit liv. Hvis man husker alle de gange, man har gjort noget forkert, eller alle de gange, der er sket pinlige, akavede eller ligegyldige ubehagelige ting, så kommer man nemt til at skamme sig over ting, som ingen andre end en selv husker.

Derimod er det heller ikke en fordel at pakke for lidt. Pakker du for lidt, kommer du til at mangle de ting, du har brug for.

Hvis man glemmer alle de små ting, som gentagne gange har højnet ens humør, så er det de ting, man kommer til at mangle den dag, humøret roder rundt nede på bunden.

Dog er der altid muligheden, at hvis ens kuffert mangler plads, kan man smide den gamle, halvulækre, tunge sweater ud, og hvis tandbørsten mangler, kan man anskaffe sig en ny.

Som sagt har jeg tidligere haft tendens til at pakke for meget.

I dag stiler jeg efter at pakke lige præcis hvad jeg har brug for at have med, og så lade alt det unødvendige ligge derhjemme.

Det var grænsen, hvor er hun bare røvirriterende. Jeg kiggede ud af vinduet, på de mange træer der susede forbi.

En teenager er en person i alderen 13 til 19 år. Udtrykket stammer fra engelsk hvor netop tallene fra 13 til 19 ender på “teen”. Teenagealderen er kendt som værende meget problematisk mellem teenager og forældre (fra W.)

Hvem er det der smækker med dørene? Hvem er det der har dårlig hørelse? Hvem er det der kan sove hele dagen? Hvem er det der bor som hulemænd i dynger af beskidt tøj?

Rigtigt: Teenagere.

Jeg har altid fået at vide, at når jeg engang blev teenager, så ville jeg blive hurtigt sur, irriteret og smække med dørene, når jeg var utilfreds. Det så jeg i film og fik fortalt, så det måtte jo være sandt. Man tror jo på alt hvad man ser og hører som lille. Alligevel har jeg altid tænkt at sådan bliver jeg i hvert fald ikke. Mors og fars lille søde artige Ida.

Der var helt stille i bilen, den eneste larm var en brummen, når mor skiftede gear. Hun havde fornærmet mig godt og grundigt.

Nu, hvor jeg tænker mig om, så er jeg egentlig ret god til at blive irriteret. Især på mine forældre. Et problematisk forhold vil jeg dog ikke sige, vi har. Det er bare dem, der ikke forstår. Smækker med dørene og råber og skriger, sker dog ikke så tit, jeg bliver bare vildt irriteret og diskuterer.

Vi har jo også meget at tænke på. Os teenagere. Vores hjerner koger af nye indtryk og meninger. Det er ikke kun vores værelser der roder, det er også oppe i knolden, og vi ved godt at der skal ryddes op…. meeen så ringer veninden eller så er der lige noget godt i fjernsynet.

Vi skal tage så mange nye valg i forhold til venner, fremtid, kærlighed og identitet. Vi eksperimenter med scorereplikker, alkohol og prøver at være en del af fællesskabet. Det kan godt være ret udmattende. Det synes jeg i hvertfald.

I alt dette hurlumhej går det galt for mig engang imellem, og det går ud over mine forældre og min omgangskreds. Jeg er ikke sikker på, hvad de gør galt.

De gør måske ikke så meget galt faktisk. De er bare i vejen, som myg på en varm sommerdag, så irriterende, ødelægger den gode stemning. De smider nogle gange den sidste dråbe, der skal til, for at glasset flyder over. De kunne måske sige det samme om deres teenageunger…. Det kunne mine forældre i hvert fald.

Nu havde vi snart siddet i fuldkommen stilhed i en halv time. Undskyld, får hun mig ikke til at sige, så hellere sidde i tavshed og stirre på de forbipasserende træer.

Bitte små ting kan gøre øjnene røde og ordene spydige; at jeg har glemt noget og derpå bebrejder mine forældre, hvis de synes jeg skal noget som ikke lige passer mig og mine egne planer, hvis de er vildt pinlige eller hvis de ikke vil give mig ret i en diskussion. Når jeg nu pludselig ikke altid følger deres regler, beslutninger og holdninger, men har fået mine egne, så disker de op med ”dengang-far/mor-var-ung” og ”hvorfor-kan-du-aldrig…” snak. Det er ikke ligefrem motivation.

Min mor slap gearstangen, gav mig et lille dask på låret. Et diskret smil. Stemningen var anderledes.

Det er ret synd for de hjælpeløse forældre, der nogle gange bare ikke kan gøre noget rigtigt. Efter et irritationsflip på de røvirriterende forældre har jeg tit en ret dårlig smag i munden. De fortjener virkelig et stort klap på skulderen, for at kunne holde mig ud, selvom jeg nogle gange synes, at det er dem der er svære at holde ud. Men de forældre har da selv været teenagere på et tidspunkt så de burde da kende til følelsen af ikke at blive forstået. Alligevel forstår de ikke en rygende fis af hvad der foregår-overhovedet. Jeg bliver ved med at sige til mig selv, at efter den her såkaldte ”teen” periode, er de nok ikke så irriterende og pinlige mere.

Men for lige nu prøver jeg bare at holde igen med de spydige kommentarer. Det går også lidt nemmere efter at jeg er kommet på efterskole. På efterskolen går man ikke op og ned af dem hele tiden ligesom derhjemme, og så sker det faktisk engang imellem at jeg savner de røvirriterende, pinlige og afskyelige forældre.

Hej. Jeg ville meget gerne vælge teksten “Det perfekte menneske” som min tekst til dansk eksamen i folkeskolen. Jeg undrer bare lidt over, hvorfor essayen ikke indeholder retoriske spørgsmål og lidt mere generel refleksion. Så mit spørgsmål lyder bare, er det stadig en essay selvom den ikke indeholder nogle af de typiske sproglige virkemidler? Den har selvfølgelig det personlige engagement og oplevelser, men der virker ikke til at være særligt meget generel refleksion.

Goddag. Det er meget fint at se hvordan de unge mennesker, kan skrive et æsay så frit, fyldt med tanker og refleksioner. Jeg har selv læst dem over 12 gange. Min søde plejerhjælper printer dem ud til mig, da jeg bor på plejehjem og ikke har andet at lave. Jeg er en 86-årig dame og klar til at gud tager mig. De her æsays giver mig en ide om hvad de unge går og tænker. Især det æsay der hedder At lade sig svæve med, minder mig om da min kære mand Poul gik bort.❤️

50 Writing Prompts for All Grade Levels

Sometimes students need a little push to activate their imaginations.

The collection of prompts below asks young writers to think through real or imagined events, their emotions, and a few wacky scenarios. Try out the ones you think will resonate most with your students. 

As with all prompts, inform students that their answers should be rated G and that disclosing dangerous or illegal things they’re involved in will obligate you to file a report with the administration or school counselors. Finally, give students the option of writing “PERSONAL” above some entries that they don’t want anyone to read. We all need to let scraggly emotions run free in our prose sometimes.

If your class uses daybooks (an approach recommended in Thinking Out Loud: The Student Daybook as a Tool to Foster Learning ), wait for composition notebooks to go on sale at Target, the Dollar Store, or Walmart for $0.50 a piece. To organize the daybook, direct young writers to leave the first three pages blank and number and date each entry—adding these entries to a table of contents that they create as they work so they can return to specific entries later. 

High School Prompts

  • Should cameras on drones watch all public spaces to prevent crime, or is that a violation of privacy? 
  • Do Americans have it too easy? Why do you think that?
  • What causes racism?
  • The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hires you as a consultant to determine how best to use $20 billion to save the world. What’s your plan?
  • What’s the worst thing about the internet? 
  • Would you rather be very beautiful or very smart? Explain.
  • You can save one object before your house burns down. What is it? What makes that object important to you?
  • How much control over your life do you have? What makes you say that? 
  • Describe your ideal life 15 years from now. What is something you can do every day to reach that goal?
  • What would your friends say is your most lovable quality? Describe that quality. 
  • What is something scary that you would like to try? What makes it scary for you? How might you overcome that fear?
  • What things do you conscientiously do to feed your brain?
  • What are three of your most profound learning experiences? Where and when did they occur?
  • By age 18, the average American has seen 200,000 acts of violence on TV, including 40,000 murders. What is it about television violence that is so compelling to people?
  • Would you rather be loved or respected? Because?
  • Does social media represent individuals authentically? Explain with examples. 
  • Imagine that it’s the last day of high school and you’ve been asked by a teacher to say a few words that summarize the events that have occurred over the last four years that are most meaningful to you. What do you say? 

Middle School Prompts

  • Which classmate would be the best to lead us through a zombie apocalypse? Why? 
  • What real-life situations would work out better for you if you were a different gender? Why?
  • How can you tell when someone your age is feeling insecure? Are most people more insecure or anxious than they let on?
  • If the internet were to crash forever, what would the benefits be for you? The drawbacks?
  • Write a scene that features a) a classmate, b) $100 million, and c) magical shoes. 
  • What three features should your future house have? Why?
  • If you starred in a television show about your life, what would the show be called? What genre would it be? (Examples: comedy, drama, thriller, romance, action-adventure, fantasy, superhero, soap opera, reality, game show, space adventure, Western, tragedy, etc.) Summarize the plot of an episode. 
  • In the future, what extreme sports will people be talking about?
  • Is your ethnicity an important part of your identity? How so? 
  • You get to take one book, one food item, and one famous person (living or dead) to a deserted island. What and who do you take? Why?
  • Write a powerfully supportive email to yourself 10 years from now. Send that email to yourself using FutureMe.org . 
  • You have been selected to be king or queen of your school. What are five rules that every kid should follow at your school? What should the punishment be for rule breakers?
  • What do the five friends you hang out with most have in common? How are you most like them? How are you different from them?
  • What contributes to someone becoming a bully? What can help stop someone from bullying?
  • Do you make friends slowly or quickly? Describe how one of your important friendships evolved.
  • Should we fear failure? Explain.
  • If a wizard could tell you anything about your future, what would you most like to know?
  • Do you believe in luck? Are you superstitious? How so? If not, why do you think some people are?

Elementary School Prompts

  • I wish my teachers knew that . . .
  • What’s the most beautiful person, place, or thing you’ve ever seen? Share what makes that person, place, or thing so special. 
  • Which is better, giant muscles or incredible speed? Why?
  • What is your most difficult subject in school? Why is it difficult? What can you do to get better at that subject?
  • Rewrite “Hansel and Gretel” from the witch’s perspective.
  • Describe a scary situation that you’ve experienced.
  • What is your first memory? Describe it.
  • You wake up tomorrow with a silly superpower that makes you famous. What is that silly power? How does it lead to your becoming an international superstar? 
  • Are you a good loser? Explain. 
  • What are examples of things you want versus things you need? 
  • Last Friday, you were given one wish by a magical panda. You tried so hard to make the wish positive, but after the whacked-out events that unfolded over the weekend, you regret ever meeting that tricky panda. What did you ask for, and what happened?
  • I wish my friends . . . 
  • Describe a routine that you often or always do (in the morning, when you get home, Friday nights, before a game, etc.).
  • What things do all kids know that adults do not?
  • What TV or movie characters do you wish were real? Why? 

After they’ve finished an entry, ask students to read their work aloud or exchange daybooks for a read-around. If you give the entries written feedback, show that their work is respected by using a sticky note or scratch paper. 

You might also incorporate background writing music one day a week—say on “Music Monday.” For some examples of music you might use in class, Pitchfork has an article called “ The 50 Best Ambient Albums of All Time .” My favorite album for composing is the Birdy soundtrack by Peter Gabriel—a good one for older kids. Other Edutopia staff and bloggers like writing to Coffitivity , Noisli , Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Alcest’s Souvenirs d’un Autre Monde .

Don’t forget to write along with your students. Why should they have all the fun?
