Hi everyone, I'm struggling immensely with essays. I would love to know how you are all studying for essays and any tips you may have. Thank you!

Background I'm using Barbri and I'm just over halfway through the course. My assigned daily hours is approximately 7 hours of work. I feel extremely unprepared because Barbri hardly assigns any practice essays and I've been scoring below passing on almost every essay (based on self-grading AND Barbri's graders).

Self-Analysis Personally, I think it's because I don't know all the rules well enough, but also because I haven't been able to get sufficient practice/exposure to essays. That said, I'm unsure how I can do more given the heavy Barbri assigned course load on top of spending extra time on Adaptibar MBEs.

Available Resources As mentioned, I have Barbri, Adaptibar, those one-sheet/leansheet/magic sheet things, and Mary Basick's blue book.

Thank you all, and I appreciate any and all advice :)

I know California has a super secret magic scale and there’s no clear answer, but I’m still not sure what raw score one needs to shoot for on the MBE (just to help guide my own studying). Barbri said to shoot for 65-70% correct - is that right? If I’m doing 65% or higher am I in the clear? Sorry, the math never maths for me - thank you in advance!

Ok... hear me out...

My mind just doesn't work in the way the bar tests. I am not going to memorize 100 different rules, exceptions, and headings across 13 essays that only may be chosen, I'm just not.

I figured I need to go about this tactically.

What we know : There are 6 Essays and 2 are given. CA PT and PR.

Great... going to study the hell out of how to approach CA PT and there is no getting around the rules of PR. Gotta score well on those. Talking 65+

That leaves 4 essays from a field of 12 (BOOO!)

But... we know that testers dont often do the same topics multiple administrations in a row. Instead, they like to integrate topics not recently tested.

The Strat: Once again study the hell out of 5 or 6 overdue essays based on predictions (especially if they are mentioned numerous times across different sources) and if I get one of the stupid fucked up misc. topic that is only tested once every 13 years, I throw my hands up and say fuck it, and happily take my 50. A good score on the ones that are predicted to actually be on the test should average this out to a passing score.

Conclusion:

Go hard on those likely to be on the test. But spend only few hours on the very unlikely , which again, are those seldom tested or just recently tested (especially if its a combination of both).

Thoughts, concerns, tips?

There will be 14 local testing centers (LTCs) nationwide in the 2022 online and regionalized Bar examinations which will be administered by the Supreme Court (SC) on Nov. 9, 13, 16, and 20.

The SC is expected to announced later the actual venues, like universities or colleges, of the Bar examinations in the 14 LTCs.

Through Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa, chairperson of the 2022 Bar examinations committee, the SC said the LTCs in the National Capital Region (NCR) will be in Northern Manila, Southern Manila, Pasay City, Quezon City and Taguig City.

In Luzon, the LTCs are in Baguio City in Benguet, Lipa City in Batangas, and Naga City in Camarines Sur.

Northern Cebu City, Southern Cebu City and Tacloban City in Leyte are the LTCs in the Visayas, while Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City and Zamboanga City are those for Mindanao.

In a Bar Bulletin issued by Justice Caguioa on Monday, Sept. 12, the SC said:

“We reiterate that the matters of selection and assignment of a bar candidate’s exam venue site are processed on a first come, first served basis, i.e., applicants who submitted their applications and paid the Bar fees earlier are assigned to the earlier batches.

“Each batch of unconditionally and conditionally approved bar candidates will receive two notifications in their Bar Personal Login Unified System (Bar PLUS)-registered email address: (1) an email notification informing them that their applications to take the 2022 Bar Examinations have been approved; and (2) an email notification informing them that the venue selection module is available in their Bar PLUS accounts.

“We urge all the bar candidates to closely monitor their Bar PLUS registered email addresses for the aforementioned notifications.

“For purposes of venue selection, bar candidates shall be divided into three (3) batches. The first, second, and third batches of bar candidates will receive the first email notification that their applications to take the 2022 Bar Examinations have been approved on the following dates: Batch 1 September 13, 2022; Batch 2 September 15, 2022; Batch 3 September 17, 2022.

“Each batch may then select their preferred examinations venue based on the schedule: Batch 1 September 14 – 15, 2022; Batch 2 September 16 – 17, 2022; Batch 3 September 18 – 19, 2022.

“Thus, on September 14, 2022, the first batch of unconditionally and conditionally approved bar candidates will receive the second email notification, and they may select their preferred exam venue based on the areas mentioned above through the Bar PLUS.

“The second and third batches will receive the second email notification regarding the availability of the venue selection module in their Bar PLUS accounts, and they may select their preferred exam venue on September 16 and 18, 2022, respectively.

“All bar candidates must complete the venue selection process within fifteen (15) minutes from clicking the ‘Choose your Exam Venue’ button in the Bar PLUS dashboard and must also answer questions on their COVID-19 vaccination status.

“Once a bar candidate submits his or her venue choice, the submission shall be final and irrevocable. A video tutorial and user guide on venue selection will be uploaded in the Supreme Court microsite today (September 12, 2022).

“A confirmatory email of the selected exam venue will be sent to the bar candidate’s Bar PLUS-registered e-mail address. The selected exam venue will also be reflected under News and Announcements in the Bar PLUS dashboard.

“The venue selection module will close on September 19, 2022. Failure to select a venue will constitute a waiver on the part of the bar candidate, who will then be assigned to an exam venue based on the remaining slots in any exam venue in the province or region nearest his or her present address.

“Requests for change of venue shall only be accommodated based on: (1) meritorious reasons; and (2) availability of slots in the chosen venue. Requests without valid basis shall not be entertained. Bar candidates may submit their requests from September 20 to 21, 2022 through https://bit.ly/2022BarExamVenueAppeal.

“All requests made beyond the said period shall not be accommodated. The Office of the 2022 Bar Examinations Chair will release a separate bar bulletin announcing the list of institutions that have been approved to be LTCs for the 2022 Bar Examinations. Bar candidates may also monitor their Bar PLUS dashboard to view their final LTC.

“Bar candidates who did not receive any of the two email notifications based on the schedules above, and all queries regarding venue selection, should be directed to the Office of the Bar Confidant hotline numbers (02) 8552-9690 or (02) 8552- 9642, or through the Online Help Desk form via https://bit.ly/2022BarExamHelpDesk.”

Bar examinations in November 2022 to be held in 14 locations

The November 2022 Bar examinations will be held at 14 local testing centers (LTCs) nationwide, the Supreme Court announced Monday.

In a statement, the High Court said five LTCs will be at the National Capital Region (NCR), and three LTCs each for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The LTCs will be located at Northern Manila, Southern Manila, Pasay City, Quezon City, and Taguig City for NCR; Baguio City, Lipa City, and Naga City for Luzon; Northern and Southern Cebu and Naga City for Visayas; and Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, and Zamboanga City for Mindanao.

According to the Court, the bar candidates will be divided into three batches for purposes of venue selection.

It said that each batch will receive two notifications in their Bar Personal Login Unified System-registered email address. The first will notify them that their applications have been approved and the second will inform them that the venue selection module is now available.

“We urge all the bar candidates to closely monitor their Bar PLUS-registered email addresses for the aforementioned notifications,” it said.

The Court said that the three batches will receive the notification that their applications have been approved on September 13, September 15, and September 17, respectively.

Meanwhile, the batches may select their preferred venues on September 14 to September 15 for the first batch; September 16 to 17 for the second batch; and September 18 to 19 for the third batch.

The SC said the venue selection process must be completed within 15 minutes.

“Once a bar candidate submits his or her venue choice, the submission shall be final and irrevocable,” it said.

It also warned that failure to select a venue will constitute a waiver on the part of the candidate, who will be assigned to a venue based on the remaining slots.

According to the Court, the selection and assignment of a candidate’s exam venue site are processed on a first come, first served basis.

The Court said requests for a change of venue will be based on meritorious reasons and availability of slots in the chosen venue.

Requests may be made from September 20 to 21 through https://bit.ly/2022BarExamVenueAppeal.

Those who did not receive any of the two notifications may direct their queries at the Office of the Bar Confidant through (02) 8552-9690 or (02) 8552-9642. —NB, GMA News

Passing Percentage of Bar Exams 2022

To pass the Bar exams, an examinee must have a general average of 75% and no grade lower than 50% in any subject. While this is typical, SC En Banc may also adjust and lower the passing percentage.

In 2012, the passing percentage was lowered to 70%, while in the 2013 and 2014 bar exams, it was likewise reduced to 73%.

Previous Bar Exams

In the latest Bar for batches 2020-2021 , 8,241 out of 11,402 aspiring lawyers passed—the highest passing rate in history with 72.28%. Unfortunately, there was no list of topnotchers except for the list of excellent performances arranged alphabetically.

During November 2019 bar exams, 2,103 out of 7,685 (27.36%) examinees passed. Mae Dianne M. Azores from the University of Santo Tomas – Legaspi ranked first, garnering a rating of 91.05%, followed by Princess Fatima T. Parahiman from the University of the East, having 89.52%.

On the November 2018  bar exams chaired by Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo, 1,800 out of 8,155 (22.07%) examinees passed. Sean James B. Borja from Ateneo de Manila University clinched the top spot having 89.31% rating, followed by Marcley Augustus Natu-El and Mark Lawrence Badayos, both from the University of San Carlos, having 87.53% and 85.84%, with respective ratings.

Here are the statistics of the Bar exam results from 2010 to 2019.

About Bar Exams

The Philippine Bar examination is an annual licensure exam conducted by the Supreme Court of the Philippines through the SC’s Bar Exam Committee. This is the only licensure exam for professionals not regulated by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

November 2022 Bar exams are the 120th licensure exams for all aspiring lawyers.

Bar exams are dubbed the most challenging professional exams in the Philippines. From 2010 to 2019, only a 27% average passing rate was recorded. The difficulty in passing is mainly attributed to the growing volume of Philippine cases and statutory laws.

Meanwhile, the highest passing rate was recorded on Batch 2020-2021, having a 72.28% passing rate.

Candidates who have failed three times in the bar exam are not permitted to retake it unless they re-enroll, pass the regular fourth-year review classes, and attend a pre-bar review course in an approved school.

I love and love to see the results of the Bar Examination. It’s just one way to say You made it Dear Son/Dear Daughter! It’s for you, your tomorrow and your future from your Parents.

Useless bar exam reforms from the SC. The release date of results is the same even if it was conducted digitally, regionalized, and with THREE EXAMINERS PER SUBJECT. How inefficient. What’s the purpose of reforms then.

I hope the results will cone out earlier.. on shaa Allah. Allah is good. The Almighty. Islam is the only religion. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the last messenger of Allah(swt). May all those who read this be guided. And read Qur’an or its English translation pls. To save yourself from Hellfire and earn Paradise. Ameen

Go go VanA.!

Ameen

Yeah right. All religions claim that and yet religions have started major wars and have caused the death of millions. Tell that to the victims of religious zealots and bigots. Remember 9/11?

Jesus, Padre Pio, St.Clare, St.Jude, Mama Mary grant my request that my son will pass the BAR Examination.Amen

SC announces November 2022 Bar exams schedule

The Supreme Court has announced the schedule for the November 2022 Bar exams

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has announced the schedule for the 2022 Bar examinations this coming November.

Through Bar Bulletin No.6.S.2022, released to the media on Wednesday, Associate Justice and 2022 Bar Exams chair Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa said the exams would be held on November 9 (Wednesday), 13 (Sunday), 16 (Wednesday), and 20 (Sunday).

But Caguioa clarified that “unforeseen circumstances and contingencies” may still “necessitate a rescheduling of dates.”

Also, Caguioa announced that the SC would continue to use the program “Examplify” for the digitized 2022 Bar tests.

“In light of the Supreme Court’s continuous efforts towards a regionalized and digitalized platform for the conduct of the Bar Examinations, and following the success of the 2020/21 Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court will continue to use Examplify, a secure examination delivery program, for the 2022 Bar Examinations,” Bar Bulletin No.6.S.2022 states.

“During which the examinees will use their own devices in their preferred venue, monitored by in-person proctors and closed-circuit television cameras in the exam rooms,” it added.

Approved Bar applicants for this year’s examinations will be able to access the software, the SC said, but they are strongly advised to “periodically monitor their Bar PLUS-registered email and Bar PLUS accounts for the list of conditionally or unconditionally approved applicants.”

“The instructions on how to use and navigate Examplify will be announced in a separate bulletin, which will include Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the process of registration, access, and use of the program, the recommended system requirements for the examines’ devices, as well as the list of allowable accessories and peripherals,” the SC said.

On the other hand, venues for the November 2022 Bar exams will be announced separately. Therefore, qualified examinees are advised to anticipate further announcements.
