Model essay #1:, some people believe that robots will play an important role in future societies, while others argue that robots might have negative effects on society..
In the modern world, the role of robots in society has become a topic of debate. Some individuals are of the opinion that robots will have a significant impact on future societies in a positive manner, while others argue that their presence might bring about negative consequences. In this essay, I will examine both perspectives and provide my own viewpoint on the matter.
Those who support the idea of robots playing a crucial role in future societies argue that they can revolutionize various industries, leading to increased efficiency and productivity. For example, in the manufacturing sector, robots can perform repetitive and dangerous tasks, ultimately reducing the risk of accidents and improving overall output. Moreover, in the field of healthcare, robots can assist medical professionals in surgeries and patient care, thereby enhancing the quality of treatment.
On the other hand, opponents of the idea express concerns about the potential negative effects of robots on society. They fear that widespread use of robots may lead to job displacement, as automation could replace human workers in various sectors. Additionally, there are concerns about the ethical implications of relying heavily on robots for tasks that require human empathy and understanding, such as caregiving and customer service.
In my opinion, while the integration of robots in society can bring about numerous benefits, it is essential to carefully consider and address the potential drawbacks. Regulations and policies should be put in place to ensure that the use of robots does not lead to mass unemployment and that human skills are still valued in the workforce.
In conclusion, the role of robots in future societies is a complex issue with both positive and negative implications. While robots have the potential to revolutionize various industries and improve efficiency, it is crucial to mitigate the potential negative impacts on employment and human interaction. Balancing the benefits and drawbacks of robot integration will be essential for shaping a positive future for society.
Model Essay #2:
The role of robots in future societies is a topic that elicits diverse opinions. Some individuals are optimistic about the positive impact robots can have, while others express concerns about the potential negative effects. In this essay, I will examine both perspectives and present my own viewpoint on the matter.
Proponents of the idea that robots will play an important role in future societies emphasize the potential for increased efficiency and productivity. They argue that robots can perform tasks with precision and consistency, leading to advancements in various sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and agriculture. For instance, in the agricultural industry, robots can assist in planting, harvesting, and monitoring crops, leading to higher yields and reduced labor requirements.
Conversely, those who hold a more critical view express concerns about the potential negative impacts of widespread robot integration. They worry that increased reliance on robots may lead to job displacement, particularly in sectors that are susceptible to automation. Furthermore, there are ethical concerns about the implications of delegating tasks that require human empathy and understanding to robots, such as caregiving for the elderly and children.
In my opinion, while the potential benefits of utilizing robots in society are significant, it is crucial to carefully consider and address the potential drawbacks. Measures should be put in place to ensure that the integration of robots does not lead to mass unemployment and that human skills are still valued in the workforce. Additionally, ethical considerations should be taken into account to ensure that the use of robots aligns with societal values and norms.
In conclusion, the role of robots in future societies presents both opportunities and challenges. While robots have the potential to enhance productivity and efficiency, it is essential to approach their integration thoughtfully and responsibly to mitigate potential negative impacts on employment and human interaction. Striking a balance between harnessing the benefits of robots and addressing their potential drawbacks will be crucial for shaping a positive future for society.

1. Are you interested in robots?
- Yeah, my love for robots stems from the fact that I’m a sci-fi fan. My favourite robots on the widescreen are C-3PO of the Star Wars franchise and Lieutenant Commander Data of Star Trek.
- Yes, absolutely! Robotics engineering is a field I take a keen interest in. I have actually subscribed to a journal entirely dedicated to robots called “The Robot Workshop”. The other day I read a really interesting article about how robots can be used to perform surgeries.
2. Do you like robots to work in your home?
- They already have. My parents bought a pair of automated vacuum robots. Sure, they don’t have that humanoid look, but they can clean very well and save us a lot of time. So yes, I like that.
- I think that’s a brilliant idea. I’m quite lazy, so household chores like cleaning or cooking are a real hassle. I would prefer to have those done by a robot. Actually, we have a robotic vacuum cleaner at our house. It’s truly a life-saver.
3. Do you want to take a car in which a robot is the driver?
- For me, the answer is simple, yes. I’m not great at driving and I feel like robots would do a better job. It will save me time and overall be safer.
- Well you know nowadays, self-driving cars are certainly not a strange topic anymore. A.I. has gotten more sophisticated, and it’s more than capable of navigating addresses and controlling a vehicle. However, I gotta say I don’t really feel comfortable letting robots take the wheel. I think they are not 100 percent reliable, and may not handle dangerous situations like a slippery road as well as a human driver does. So for now I still prefer to drive manually.
4. Will robots replace human beings in the workplace completely?
- I don’t see that happening as for many of us, working gives us purposes. So even if we reach a point when all labours can be done by robots, there will still be human workers.
- Well, these days human labor is being marginalized by automation in the workplace, especially in manufacturing. Labor-intensive tasks can be done by machines with ease and precision. However, there are always things that require the delicate touch of a human hand. For example, a hand-made shirt always has more soul than a machine-made one.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Sample Answer Essay: Artificial Intelligence
Some scientists believe that in the future computers will be more intelligent than human beings. While some see this as a positive development others worry about the negative consequences. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Real Past IELTS Exam
Many today are worried about the potential drawbacks of artificial intelligence. In my opinion, these concerns are legitimate but on the whole A.I. will allow for new heights to human endeavour.
The chief associated worries concern its misuse by humans initially and machines later. The former is already coming to pass as automation has phased out many traditional jobs. As artificial intelligence becomes more sophisticated, the positions in jeopardy will transition from low-skilled factory staff to data analysts and other white-collar workers. The fear is that companies will be motivated solely by their bottom line, lay off many employees and trigger mass social unrest. Some also believe A.I. portends darker scenarios akin to the apocalyptic dystopias of films like The Matrix and Terminator. This is a possibility though it is impossible to estimate its likelihood.
The speculations above should be taken seriously but they pale in comparison to the technologies A.I. can complement. Companies ranging from Google to Amazon to Tesla are investing heavily in this industry because of its enormous potential. For example, self-driving cars are fast becoming a reality and will reduce the number of vehicular accidents massively. Policymakers in government will be able to take advantage of sophisticated algorithms to project economic policy and positively enhance the lives of billions. In the consumer sphere, smartphones will become increasingly helpful, freeing up individuals to focus their time on work, family, and leisure. This is only a partial list and the most intriguing and impactful applications have yet to be unearthed.
In conclusion, artificial intelligence poses risks to the labour market and the future of humanity, but the opportunities for new projects should take priority. It is important to find a balance and methods of mitigating the dangers.

Hello , in this essay you have used the phrases like phase out and lay off. So can we use them in formal writing in academic writing part 2?
Try to avoid phrasal verbs as much as possible – the occasional one like ‘phase out’ and lay off is ok – but to be safe, avoid using them if you know a more formal, academic word.
Got it. Thanx for valuable advice!

IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: ROBOTS [ANSWERS]
Are robots important?
(Answer 1)
I believe so. The invention of robots helps manufacturing industries thrive (prosper) since the production of products increases. As we know, robots work faster than humans and undeniably with precision (in quality of being exact and accurate) . As for household robots like robot vacuums and mops, they make mothers’ lives easier as they do the cleaning on their own with minimal operation. Considering these things, robots are definitely important in people’s lives.
(Answer 2)
Yes! They make the lives of people more convenient as they can do household chores like what Robovac does at home. In businesses, robots improve the quantity of production as they work more efficiently than humans. Also, some restaurants are now using robots as waiters which helps business owners cut costs in wages.
How can robots affect people’s lives?
(Answer 1)
Well, robots make people’s lives more convenient as they can replace people doing mundane (very ordinary) tasks that people hate doing. From a business perspective, robots increase the quantity of item production with minimal (few) errors compared to laborers. However, because of robots, some laborers lose their jobs for the obvious reason – they can’t produce items as fast as robots.
I see both positive and negative impacts of robots on people’s lives. People’s lives have become more convenient because of what robots can do – from cleaning the house to cooking; from understanding complicated mathematical computations to creating computer programs; and from increasing production to achieving the best quality production. But the negative impact is that people become so reliant (dependent) on robots that they stop developing their skills, worse, some people are laid off (to stop employing someone) because they’re simply replaceable by robots.
Are you interested in robots?
Unfortunately, I’m not keen on (not interested) robots, except for robot toys. I think that’s because I’m not a techie (a person who is enthusiastic about technology) person. But if we talk about robot toys, well, I love them! I still keep my robot toys that I played with when I was a kid. I still have with me my Transformer Robot, Wall-E, and LEGO Star Wars.
Yes, I am. I’m super fascinated (very interested) with how robots are programmed. In fact, I studied Robotics in high school and I learned how to make one with the help of my teacher. That was an unforgettable experience. These days, I watch some documentaries about robots and my knowledge about robots has truly broadened.
Would you like robots to work at home?
A big yes! I would love to have at least one robot to help me complete all household chores. That would be great and my life would surely be more comfortable. I don’t know who wouldn’t want to have a robot that would do all the household chores at home. I believe all of us want to have one.
Of course! Who wouldn’t want to? If I had one or two, I think I’d be able to maximize my time and use it more productively as I would no longer do repetitive tasks. Instead of doing those typical tasks, I could use a robot to do those things for me, and I would do something else that would simply improve myself personally and professionally.
Do you want to take a car in which a robot is a driver?
Not at all! Like I said earlier, I’m not a techie person. As a passenger, how would I interact with a robot as my driver? I just couldn’t risk my life with a robot. I’m sorry, but that’s not possible for me.
Well, not until it is proven efficient and completely safe. If there aren’t enough tests conducted and if it’s not mainstream (popular) yet, I won’t take it. My life is so precious to allow a robot as my driver to take me to different places.

Author, Band 9.0 Achiever (First Attempt - IELTS Speaking)
Hi students! My name is Julius. I am the author of this IELTS website. I am a non-native English speaker who achieved the highest band score (band 9.0) on the IELTS speaking test on my first attempt. I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts from Cebu Normal University, one of the prestigious state universities in the Philippines. I am a licensed teacher and TESOL-certified. I once worked at a UK-based company teaching business English to Japanese businessmen who primarily work at Nikkei, a popular media company in Japan. I created this website to help you all achieve your desired band scores so you will NOT waste so much money, time, and effort for retaking the exam numerous times. All of the sample answers I provided on this website are a product of my experience as a band 9.0 achiever and an experienced IELTS speaking coach. I've made sure that all of the sample answers are developed in a conversational and natural way because that is how I achieved a crisp band 9.0. Be one of the many students who achieved their target band scores by utilizing this website as one of the learning resources!
