Essay on Picnic in 200 Words

A picnic, an old custom, provides the ideal diversion from the pressures of modern life. It’s a day of simplicity, joy, and connectedness to loved ones and the natural world.

Families and friends assemble in parks, on the shores of lakes while the sun warmly illuminates the surroundings. They spread out blankets decorated with an abundance of homemade treats. The hungry will find sandwiches, seasonal fruits, and refreshing lemonade. A dinner becomes a memorable feast when it is simply shared outside. This simple act of doing so increases the food’s flavour.

The natural melody of birds and rustling leaves is delightfully complemented by conversation and laughter. While kids discover the outdoor attractions, soccer balls and frisbees may fly. The day is for playing games, unwinding, and admiring the scenery.

Picnics promote quality time spent with loved ones and strengthen ties. They provide a break from screens, emails, and due dates while bringing back memories of simpler pleasures in life. Picnics produce priceless memories, whether they are enjoyed by the tranquil sound of a lake or in the shadow of a large oak tree.

In those moments, the world feels beautifully uncomplicated, and our souls find solace in the embrace of nature. Picnics are more than just meals outdoors; they are a celebration of life, love, and the enduring human need for connection and relaxation.

Essay on Picnic in 300 Words

Picnics are enjoyable outings that enrich and calm our lives. Last summer, when my family and I made the decision to get away from the rush and bustle of city life and spend the day in the middle of nature, I had one such unforgettable picnic.

We settled on a gorgeous location next to a calm lake surrounded by luxuriant green foliage. A pleasant symphony was produced by the rustling of the leaves as the early sun touched the water and placed a golden hue on it.

The day was jam-packed with entertainment. I was playing catch with my younger sister as my parents had a leisurely stroll around the lake. My mother made those sandwiches with such care, and they were just unmatched in flavour.

We decided to continue our exploration of the area after lunch. In the midst of the tranquil beauty of the lake, we rented a rowboat and set out on the water. Fish were darting beneath the surface in the glisteningly bright water. Even my father gave fishing a shot, but we only managed to reel in a few little fish.

We gathered along the lake’s side as the day dragged on to watch the sunset. The horizon was painted with hues of orange, pink, and purple as the sky changed into a canvas of warm colours. We were all in amazement at the sight, which served as a reminder of nature’s utter beauty.

We started a bonfire and told tales around it as darkness began to fall over the scene. The roaring fire and the shooting stars above gave the night a magical touch.

We reluctantly packed our things and said goodbye to our wonderful location. That picnic’s memories will live on in my heart always. It served as a reminder that, despite our hectic schedules, these are the times we actually value.

Essay on Picnic in 400 Words

A picnic is a lovely outdoor activity that enables individuals to escape from the bustle of daily life, spend quality time with loved ones, and connect with nature. The core of a picnic is found in the straightforward joys it provides, whether the excursion is a last-minute adventure or a carefully planned outing.

Selecting the ideal venue is the first step in picnic planning. Numerous elements, including closeness, the beauty of the surrounding area, and the activities on offer, may have an impact on this choice.

The menu is the most important consideration after the location is chosen. Delicious food is synonymous with picnics, and a thoughtfully planned spread may increase everyone’s enjoyment. Popular options include cold sandwiches, fruit, chips, salads, and homemade desserts. To guarantee that everyone’s taste buds are satiated, pack a variety of dishes.

The menu comes second in importance after the choice of site. Delicious food is a picnic staple, and a well-planned spread may increase everyone’s enjoyment. Fresh fruit, chips, salads, cold sandwiches, and handmade sweets are all common options. Everyone’s taste buds will be satiated if a variety of dishes are packed.

Excitation is in the air as the gang gathers on the day of the picnic. Gathered with smiles, baskets, and blankets, friends and family are prepared to enjoy the embrace of nature. Everyone contributes in order to create the ideal setting for relaxation as they work together to set up a cosy picnic area.

The menu comes next in importance once the venue has been selected. A thoughtfully planned spread can improve the entire enjoyment of a picnic, which is linked with good food. Popular options include cold sandwiches, fruits straight from the garden, chips, salads, and homemade desserts.

The picnickers are filled with satisfaction as the day comes to an end and the sun starts to set. It’s time to tidy up, store the leftovers from the feast, and leave the area as spotless as you found it. This commitment to the environment assures that picnickers in the future can take in the same unspoiled splendour.

In conclusion, a picnic is more than just a lunch outside; it’s a rejuvenating event for both body and spirit. It’s time to unplug from technology and re-establish relationships with friends, family, and the environment.

Essay On Picnic - 100, 200, 500 Words

A picnic is a joyous occasion for every person, irrespective of their age. It is a great way to spend time with family and friends and experience the excellent outdoors. There are a few things to consider when planning a picnic. The initial step is to pick a location that is accessible for each person, followed by arranging food and drinks.

It’s always better to carry your own things—including blankets, food and chairs. Whether picnics are at an outstation or a nearby park, it is worth enjoying the time to strengthen your connection with friends and family. No one at the picnic should feel left out, as one of the purposes of the picnic is to connect people. As a result, having a positive attitude and a beautiful smile can brighten your day and make the picnic vibes more positive.

A picnic is a day when people take a break from their busy schedules and get to know each other better. It is a short trip for pleasure to a beautiful place. Picnics provided much relief from daily stresses. Picnics call for families and friends to have fun and make memories together.

In our busy schedules, we often forget to spend time with our family and even ourselves. Picnics are thus a way to take a break from everyday hustle and give ourselves a much-needed change from routine. Picnics are not only fun, but they also strengthen family bonds.

A picnic can provide us with laughter and enjoyment. From our everyday boring lives, we want to take a break and go for a small picnic. Some months ago, I had a picnic with my college buddies. We visited the historic Jaisalmer citadel in Rajasthan. A large range of vacationers go to this place regularly. There were four of us so we hired a vehicle. It took four hours to use and complete the tasks there. We started our adventure early in the morning, so as to explore the whole place. I like visiting at forts and vintage buildings. So, I picked Jaisalmer as our picnic spot.

In these stressful lives, we always look for an escape such that we can forget about our daily problems and enjoy our time away from the pollution and chaos of the city. The best option is to go on a picnic. Picnics are cherished and loved by both kids and adults. It relieves stress and adds some variety to our daily routine.

A picnic is referred to as one of the calmest outdoor activities, although it has its fun sides as well. A meal we consume outside, below the sky, in the presence of sparkling air and plant life, can be termed a picnic. People often plan picnics in parks, lakesides, seashores, and other outside locations that involve a stunning view and clean air.

Importance of Picnic

An outside pastime sometimes helps us calm our minds and maintain desirable fitness. A picnic is how we can add enjoyment to our daily life. There are various kinds of picnics, based on the people who arrange them or the fellow people. There could be college picnics, office picnics, family picnics, and more.

It is no longer incorrect to mention that our everyday lifestyle is full of stress and noise. A picnic introduces an alternative to our daily life. Going out in public places allows people to laugh at themselves. We sing, dance, and do a variety of other activities. A picnic is a powerful way of bringing people close to each other, be it a group of associates, family members, classmates, or buddies. A picnic is a powerful way to solidify emotional bonds.

Picnics allow us to connect with nature as well as with other people. Spending a day out among the trees, vegetation, and greenery has great effects on our experience. Laying or walking barefoot on the grass may be a happy experience for every person.

Picnics allow us to relax in the arms of nature and regain our misplaced strength, as we all know that after city lifestyles tire us, nature is the way to recharge ourselves. Picnics are a way of enjoying our bodies and minds. When we are on a picnic with our loved ones, we enjoy our time to the fullest. It allows us to relax and take deep breaths after weeks of working. If we exclude the food, games and activities are the enjoyable aspects of picnics.

The picnic involved a delightful factor, i.e., food. For some people who must follow a specific weight-reduction plan, picnics can make their food plan flexible for a day and allow them to have whatever meals they prefer. Humans take their favourite snacks to picnics and enjoy them under the stars.

Meal items like sandwiches, fruit juices, and wafers are a few items in each lunch packed for a picnic. Lunch may be considered a crucial part of a picnic. Picnics are a lot of fun for kids because it's like getting a free ticket to have a good time. From getting up early to play with their outside toys to having their favourite snacks, make their days fulfilling for them.

Long Essay on a Picnic with Family 500 Words in English

Human beings are society-bound creatures. We need family and friends to keep us grounded. That is why family forms an integral part of our lives. Without family, all of would be without an identity, a background, or an origin. Amidst our quick-paced lives, we often tend to take our family for granted. We end up neglecting them and not spending enough time with them. A pleasant day out with our family is the best way to reconnect with them, as well as energize our selves.

A family picnic brings together all the family; it helps in strengthening bonds and the recovery of severed and forgotten memories. It brings all of us closer together. Last December, over the Winter Vacation, my family and I went to a picnic. The picnic took place in a bungalow that we had booked for an entire day, located two hours away from the city. A plush and beautiful garden surrounded the cottage, had a large lawn running around the circle, and overlooked a lake.

When the idea of having a family picnic was in talks, it had filled me with an impending sense of immense joy and excitement. A family picnic implied a gathering of all my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and my parents. Since I have a nuclear family and stay with only my mother and father, the prospect of having my entire extended family over, gave me a feeling of unexplainable happiness.

Keeping in mind all the holidays, we had decided on the 26th of December; the schools were shut, the offices were closed, and the excitement of the Christmas celebrations was still fresh in the air. The weather was just pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold. We were twenty people in total, including all my cousins and distant relatives; we had booked a 35-seater bus.

On the morning of the 26th, at six o’clock, we departed for the venue, all fresh and lively. It was around nine when we reached the spot. The bungalow was prepared for our arrival. The pantry was stocked with supplies, and a ferry was arranged just by the lake. Having settled down in the place, we first set up temporary make-shift umbrellas and chairs on the lawn. My cousins and I got our tennis nets racquets out and were soon involved in a competitive game of doubles. The day trickled away, filled with enthusiastic chatters, pranks, and casual conversation and jokes.

We had a lavish and sumptuous lunch ( into the preparation of which all of us had contributed, some way or another). Later in the evening, we decided to take a ferry ride out on the lake. It was a soothing and calming experience. With the sunlight slowly fading away and giving way to darkness, we floated around in the water, music playing from the stereo we had brought along.

Around seven in the evening, when darkness had engulfed us totally, we set out for home on our bus. It indeed was a joyous and beautiful experience.

A picnic with our family gives us the scope to catch up with them and become closer to them. It brings a million memories to mind and also helps in creating memories for reminiscing in the future. I indeed had a gala time on my family picnic.

Essay on Picnic for Students

Picnics are a cherished tradition that brings people together to enjoy the great outdoors while sharing delicious food and creating lasting memories. In this essay, we will explore the beauty of picnics, their cultural significance, the benefits they offer, and how they can foster a sense of connection with nature and each other.

The Essence of a Picnic

At its core, a picnic is a simple yet delightful activity where people gather outdoors to share a meal. Picnics can take place in parks, gardens, beaches, and even in the comfort of your backyard. They often involve packing a basket with a variety of delicious foods and beverages, from sandwiches and fruits to cheese and homemade treats.

Cultural Significance

Picnicking has a rich cultural history dating back centuries. It has been celebrated in literature, art, and film, often depicted as a symbol of leisure, relaxation, and community. For example, the famous French painter Édouard Manet’s painting “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe” portrays a group of people enjoying a picnic in a natural setting, highlighting its cultural significance.

The Benefits of Picnicking

Picnics offer a range of benefits, both for individuals and for families and friends who gather for these outdoor feasts. One of the primary advantages is the opportunity to connect with nature. Spending time in natural surroundings, such as parks or forests, can reduce stress and increase overall well-being.

According to a study published in the journal “Environmental Science & Technology,” spending time in nature can lower cortisol levels (a stress hormone) and improve mood. Picnics provide a wonderful excuse to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the outdoors.

Social Connection

Picnics foster social connection and bonding among friends and family. Sharing a meal outdoors encourages conversations, laughter, and the creation of lasting memories. Picnics are a great way for people to strengthen their relationships and build deeper connections with one another.

In a world where technology often keeps us glued to screens, picnics offer a refreshing opportunity for face-to-face interaction and genuine connection. Whether it’s a romantic picnic for two or a lively gathering with a group of friends, picnics create spaces for meaningful conversations and shared laughter.

Creativity and Relaxation

Picnicking encourages creativity and relaxation. Planning and preparing a picnic involve choosing the perfect location, selecting delicious foods, and arranging a comfortable and inviting space. It’s an opportunity to showcase culinary skills or try out new recipes.

Additionally, picnics provide a break from the daily routine, allowing individuals to relax, unwind, and appreciate the beauty of their surroundings. Lounging on a blanket, feeling the warmth of the sun, and enjoying the gentle breeze can be incredibly refreshing and rejuvenating.

Connecting with Food

Picnics create a unique relationship between people and the food they consume. Packing a picnic basket with carefully chosen items and savoring them in a natural setting enhances the sensory experience of eating. It encourages mindfulness and appreciation for the flavors and textures of the food.

Picnics also promote healthy eating habits. Unlike fast food or processed snacks, picnic meals often include fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade dishes, contributing to a balanced diet and overall well-being.

Conclusion of Essay on Picnic

In conclusion, picnics are a beautiful and enriching tradition that brings people together in harmony with nature. They offer a wealth of benefits, including stress reduction, social connection, creativity, relaxation, and a deeper appreciation of food. Whether enjoyed with family, friends, or loved ones, picnics create moments of joy and togetherness that become cherished memories.

In a world that sometimes seems hectic and disconnected, picnics remind us of the simple pleasures of life and the importance of nurturing our bonds with both nature and each other. So, grab a blanket, pack a basket, and embark on a picnic adventure to experience the joy and wonder of this timeless tradition.

Read Family Picnic Essay on Vedantu

A picnic is a kind of excursion that is arranged with friends and families in the scenic outdoors. Everyone gets together in a place, ideally a park or resort with a lot of open space, and cook meals and eat lunch together, play games, and spend a whole day making merry and memories. In tropical countries like India, families generally plan exciting picnics during winter holidays because, during that time, the weather remains largely pleasant. These picnics though apparently mere get-togethers have immense significance in our life. They allow us to take a break from our busy routine and spend time with our family which is very important for our mental and emotional well-being. In this essay, I shall talk about a family picnic that was probably one of the best days of my life.

Picnic Day With My Family

Last spring our whole family decided to go to a nearby park for a fun outing and a picnic at the same time. The day before the picnic we could no longer hold our excitement. We spent the entire day planning what we will do and what we will eat. Thinking about all the fun we were going to have made my heart flutter.

The next day after packing our things we left our home at 8 am. The picnic spot was about 2 hours away from our home. We had packed delicious food prepared by my mother. On our way to the picnic spot, we played “antakshari” in the car. I could not wait to reach the spot.

Fun At The Picnic Spot

Finally at 10.30 am we reached the picnic spot. It was a beautiful land on the banks of a river. There was a large area of a green field with a lot of bushes and trees scattered here and there. The river and sky met at the horizon. There was a continuous flow of cool breeze blowing from the river to the banks. It was a mesmerizing sight to behold.

Me and my siblings, we started playing games with the adults including my mother, father, uncle and aunt. We played gully cricket and hide and seek. Soon the adults became tired so me and my siblings, we started racing across the fields.

Finally, we were too tired to play anymore. This was the time for the most amazing part of the picnic, the food. We had brought tasty home-cooked meals from our homes. We unpacked our food and divided it among ourselves. After so many activities my hunger had increased. The food tasted tastier than usual, maybe it was because of the company of the whole family, or maybe it was because I was very hungry. After completing our lunch all of us went for a boat ride. It was my first time riding a boat. At first, I was scared but then slowly I overcame my fear and started enjoying the ride. Then around 5.00 pm, we left for home.

The memories I gathered at the family picnic are some moments I will cherish all through my life. The picnic not only provided a break from the everyday mundane life but also made me happy and allowed me to spend some quality time with my family. I hope we can plan more picnics in the future.

Our school organised a picnic for us on Children’s Day. We went to a water park that was full of rides and greenery. We travelled with our friends and teachers. On reaching the water park, we were served hot tomato soup as it was the winter season. We then changed into our swimming dresses to go on the rides. Our teachers joined us too. We spent our time on the rides until lunchtime. We were served hot pizzas, french fries, and juice for lunch. Writing a family essay could be an easy task for kids. But an essay on a picnic with family could be a little difficult. The example below could be a start for writing an essay about a picnic with family:

My family decided to go on a picnic over the long weekend. The farmhouse near the city’s outskirts was chosen as the venue. My mother, father, sister, and I drove to the farmhouse early in the morning with my uncle, aunt and their son. We reached there at 10 in the morning. The farmhouse had a pool, garden and an entertainment room. We spent some time swimming in the pool and then played a few games of cricket in the garden. We then took a short break for some refreshments. We went back to playing football in the garden and played until lunch. For lunch, we ordered a meal from the restaurant next door. We enjoyed the delicious lunch and then went to the entertainment room to relax. We watched a movie and then went to the nearby café for snacks in the evening. After a cup of coffee, we took photos together as a family for memories. We then started back home and reached by evening. It was a memorable day for all of us.

Children in class 3 can articulate better and have more knowledge. However, an essay template could really help them. Below is a picnic essay for class 3 that could help them spark their creativity:

I once went on a picnic at a resort with my school. We took a bus to the resort and, on the way, sang songs along with the teachers. After we reached the resort, we played in the garden and spent time on the rides. We spent time on the rides until lunchtime, and then our teachers took us to the dining hall for lunch. The lunch was delicious, with large portions of dishes. After we finished our lunch, our teachers gathered us in the garden, and we played some games like hopscotch, egg and spoon race, and more. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and teachers until the evening when it was time to leave. We clicked a few group photos and took the bus back home. It was such a wonderful day spent with my friends.

Another picnic that I love is the one with my family. It was a long weekend, and since we did not want to go on a long holiday, we decided to take a day trip to the beach. My father, mother, brother, and I set off early to the beach as the weather was hot and sunny. My mother packed some snacks and drinks to eat on the way. My father decided to drive, and we listened to music as we travelled to the beach. When we reached the beach, we immediately headed to the water and spent time swimming! After a few hours, we tucked into the refreshments that my mother had packed. We then drove back home, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day with my family.

By writing on this topic, a child learns to articulate their thoughts about spending quality time with people. Writing on this topic can be developed by getting children to organise their thoughts.

Essay writing is a vital skill for children to learn right from the primary classes. Reading and writing will help children develop these skills. The above templates will help children know how to structure their essays on a topic like a picnic.

The flow of happiness amongst the family was at its peak while preparing for the picnic. Everybody was excited about this outdoor adventure. Finally, the day had arrived. Picnic Spot

Finally, we reached our destination. The moment we reached the ticket window, the kids in the family started jumping with excitement. While we were purchasing the tickets, the kids started getting restless to wait. Then we entered for our awaiting adventure for the picnic with the family. As soon as we entered, the beauty of the place welcomed us with a cool breeze on our faces.

We put on the costumes and entered the pool. The coldness of the water was soothing one. Each splash brought a smile on everyone’s face. Everybody went back to their childhood. The youngest one in the picnic with family was 3.5-year-old, who had entered the pool for the first time. He was the happiest amongst all. After spending a considerate amount of time playing with water, we had to struggle a lot to take kids out from the pool.  What a memorable time it was during a picnic with the family.

Then we started heading towards the food zone. The fun in the pool has led to an empty stomach which was making a lot of funny noise. And the aroma of the delicious food which was coming from the food zone had aced our pace towards it.

The kids in the family started making a list of all the things that they wanted to eat. We ordered everyone’s favorite dish and sat waiting for the food to come. This waiting time was the most torturous one. And finally, our hot and tasty food came. We literally attacked it like the hungry animals. The next 30 minutes was complete silence. Everybody in the picnic with family was busy enjoying their own favorite delicacy. We finished eating and left for home.

Though the picnic with family was over, still it is alive in over memories. All the good time we spent together, a lot of beautiful pictures, will always be with us in our memories. We will soon plan our next picnic with family to rejoice our love, bonding, and happiness together.

My Favourite Picnic Spot Essay (1000 Words)

March 8, 2018 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

Today our topic is my favourite picnic spot. Before diving into the topic let me explain what actually picnic is. Well picnic is nothing but a trip to a particular place where a group of individuals are part of the expedition.

The main point of picnic is about either preparing tasty meal over there or taking prepared foods from home and eating over there. The spot maybe either a park, zoo, beside a beautiful lake etc.

Well we generally mean going outside to a particular place and eating meal but that is not the case actually.

Sometimes people gather at someone’s house and eat meals. Picnic is a word with whom many words can be associated.

They are fun, experience, get together etc. Fun is because of gathering. When we have a gathering of family members or friends then obviously there will be loads of fun and entertainment.

Again experience relates to the experience of cooking food ourselves where the cook maybe a beginner.

Actually the point is to say that youngsters generally take up challenges of preparing food at picnic and it turns out that most of them are inexperienced about cooking.

So it takes whole lot of energy and determination to prepare meals. And if successful then we can say that yes we gathered lots of experience.

If a picnic is planned then it is needless to say that there will be gathering and if there’s gathering then definitely it is a get-together.

Picnics are of various types such as family picnic, church picnic, company picnic, friend’s picnic. The common idea is we choose a scenic landscape; a group of people goes out on the trip taking picnic baskets and large blanket alongside.

My Favourite Picnic Spot

The 1862 painting depicts the juxtaposition of a female nude and a scantily dressed female bather on a picnic with two fully dressed men in a rural setting.

Apart from that we have several films based on picnic itself. They are “Picnic”, “Powers of Ten”, “The Office Picnic”, “Picnic at Hanging Rock”, “Bhaji on the Beach”, “Blissfully Yours”.

Well there are lots of parks, zoos, beautiful gardens but my favourite picnic spot is one of my friend’s house named as Rahul.

He’s my childhood friend. The picnic was planned to take place in month of December, 2016. It took place and all that was planned for has been successfully carried out.

We planned to include as many school friends as possible. Because we passed higher secondary 2 years ago and everyone was desperate for a get-together.

But this was not the main plan. Well we planned to prepare chicken roast ourselves and most of us don’t know how to prepare spicy pastes, cutting onions and chillies.

In other words we were totally novice. Fortunately few of them knew the procedures and steps to be followed.

In the introductory paragraph I was talking of experience. So I am going to tell about our overall experience of the enterprise.

On the day of picnic few of us stepped back and refrained from attending the picnic. As expected, it is seen that very few remains part of the grand plan.

But we were especially lucky as many of us were part of the grand plan. We gathered at Rahul’s house early in the morning.

When everyone came it was planned unitedly that few of us would go to buy ingredients, few would go for collecting woods and stove.

Well I didn’t go out for managing the items. I was with rest of my friends. Then music was played in large music boxes and everyone was like Michael Jackson and started to dance as soon as the music started to play.

It continued till the ingredients arrived. Those who were resting were asked to prepare stuffs, but we are inexperienced, tried to give excuses but that didn’t worked.

We had to follow the instructions; fortunately I was given the task of peeling onions and selecting fresh coriander out of stock.

It took near about 1.5 hours to prepare all the things necessary for preparing meal starting from cleaning the meat to marinating it.

Everyone was damn hungry. Now the upcoming part is interesting. We managed to get one stove found in old days only and it runs only on woods which are provided at bottom.

Now we had to roast the chicken and no one is pro in this. But few of them took the lead role and roasted the chicken pieces.

Few pieces were so burnt that it became black and unfit for eating. Still everyone backed them as it was not an easy task.

Finally when all the chicken pieces were roasted then everyone was like “I am very hungry, give me first”.

When we had first bite then it was like “heaven” and “very tasty”. “Heaven” and “very tasty” because first of all we prepared the meal ourselves so the immense peace that we got is totally inexplicable.

Secondly it was superb and at our first attempt we made it tasty. The peace you get when you toil for something and finally you’re successful that gives a feeling which really can’t be transformed into words.

Unfortunately few pieces were still raw and needed more roasting. Still it was more than satisfactory.

We took rest for about one hour. Some played truth and dare. While I was part of truth and dare and never for a single time I had to face either the truth or dare.

Finally few of them went home. Now we were reduced to group of near about 15. Everyone planned to go for a bike ride.

Well I have a bike and went out on expedition. Lastly we dropped few of them whose houses were very far and returned home.

A Picnic Essay

We took a nice, long walk and then went for horse riding. I wanted to go into the water but my father did not allow me.

He said it was too risky. My brother had brought his camera along and we clicked many snaps. I made a beautiful sandhouse.

After sometime, we felt tired and hungry. While my father and I went and brought tea from the shop, my mother served us sandwiches.

After we had rested in the afternoon, my sister sang some songs for us. She has a very sweet voice. Suddenly, the sky! became overcast. As it was about to rain, we quickly gathered our things and rushed to hire a taxi.

We reached home tired but happy. It was a day well spent.

Essay on a Picnic I Enjoyed the Most [PDF]

We love to go outstation for spending a holiday or a picnic, today in this essay paper I am gonna discuss on a visit to a picnic which I enjoyed the most, so let’s dive into the essay.

essay on a picnic I enjoyed most feature image

Please change you destination accordingly in this article I mention a Stanley Park in Vancouver, you may change or put your picnic spot accordingly.

“Kids, we are going on a picnic” Those words always brought to attention and sent excitement through our bodies. A picnic for us was a chance to escape the city life and get out into the fresh air with lots of room to roam.

We were double excited when we were told we would be going to Stanley Park in Vancouver. This was a great park with lots of things for kids to do. Once everything was gathered together and the food prepared, Dad packed the car and we were off for the day.

Our picnics lasted a long time especially when it was held at Stanley Park. Normally the park’s parking lot is full but this time we got off early enough to have our choice of parking spaces. The picnic was getting off on a good foot because Dad was not frustrated by a lack of parking spots.

Walking through the tall fir trees made us feel like we were walking through a forest. The sun was kept away while still providing us with enough light to enjoy our picnic spot. The grassy field was smooth as a well-kept carpet.

It didn’t take us long to scatter after we had found our picnic spot. Mom and Dad, as usual, stayed by the blanket and food, enjoying their quiet break from us kids. We had a couple of hours before the food was going to be brought out.

That gave us time to explore the wonderful sites and all us kids would be back on time as no one wanted to miss out n the special picnic food our parents had brought. All morning we hiked the different trails, stopping long enough to peak out between the giant fir trees to see the city around us.

The majestic North Shore mountains mesmerized us as they stood like silent guardians over North Vancouver. Their still snow-capped peaks hinting that winter fun is coming up.

Then we turned our eyes to the waters of Burrard Inlet. There along the glistening waves were many boats gliding to their destinations. They were as free as we were even if it was for only a short time.

After we got tired of looking at the scenery, we headed towards the mini train. Its ride may not have been long but we got to see a lot of interesting sites, like tame wild animals in their natural surroundings.

The train ride lasted only about 10 minutes but it seemed like an hour. There was just so much to see and take in one ride just did not do the tour justice. When the ride was over we continued to walk the different trails enjoying the freedom from the city. Everything was fresh and pure.

It didn’t take us long to reach Lost Lagoon and its totem pole treasures. Carved by local Indian tribes long ago, these totem poles told everyone a history lesson about the Indians who carved them.

Each face and animal had its own important significance. Brightly colored these totem poles stood strong reminding us to never waver even when storms appear on our horizon.

Finally, it was time to eat and all of us kids hurried to our picnic site. The food was just being placed on the blanket and we kids did not hesitate to grab our share. All of our favorites were there and the food did not last long. Not with 3 hungry kids devouring it all.

After lunch, our parents took their usual picnic nap while we kids went off to find some adventure. We went to the zoo, it was still there when I was young, and the aquarium. As we looked at each animal we conjured up daydreams of what it would be liked living in a time before our parent’s day.

When it came time to go home, I walked slowly, not wanting to lose one minute of this special day. We do not get to Stanley Park very often and I wanted to make the most of it.

I hope you like my writing on “a Picnic I Enjoyed”. Feel free to comment on your thoughts regarding this essay. I would love to hear from you!

Introduction

As a kid, I looked forward to school picnics. It was a chance to get out of the classroom and have some fun. We would play games, eat lunch and just enjoy being outdoors.

Now that I am a teacher, I get to see the other side of school picnics. I get to help plan them and make sure they are successful. I also get to see the joy on the kids’ faces when they are enjoying themselves.

School picnics are a great way for students to bond with each other and with their teachers. They are a time to relax and have fun. And, they are a great opportunity for teachers to get to know their students better.

Preparations for the Picnic

Before the picnic, we had to do some preparations. We had to collect wood for the bonfire, set up the tents, and prepare the food. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it.

On the day of the picnic, we woke up early and started setting up everything. We made sure that the fire was lit and that the food was ready. Then, we went on a hike to explore the area around us.

When we got back, we were exhausted but happy. We sat around the fire and talked, ate, and laughed until it was time to go home. It was a perfect day and I’ll never forget it.

Journey to the Picnic Spot

It was a hot, sunny day when our school went on a picnic to the nearby park. The park was very big and there were lots of trees and flowers. We had brought our own food and drinks so we didn’t have to buy anything. We played games and ran around for a while before we sat down to eat. After lunch, we went on a nature walk and saw some birds and squirrels. Then we went back to the bus and came home. It was a really fun day!

Fun Activities at the Picnic

One of the best things about picnics is that there are so many fun activities that can be enjoyed. Here are some great ideas for activities to make your next picnic even more enjoyable:

1. Water Balloon Toss – This classic picnic game is always a hit with kids and adults alike. Fill up some water balloons and start tossing them back and forth between team members. Whoever drops the balloon loses!

3. Frisbee – A game of Frisbee is the perfect way to enjoy some time outdoors with friends or family. Just make sure you don’t accidentally hit anyone in the head!

4. Horseshoes – This classic lawn game is perfect for picnics and BBQs alike. Set up a horseshoe pit and see who can come closest to landing their horseshoes around the stake.

5. Cornhole – Another great lawn game, cornhole is perfect for picnics and cookouts. Players take turns throwing bean bags at a raised platform with a hole in it, and points are scored for each bag that goes through the hole or lands on the platform.

Food and Refreshments

Assuming you would like a list of food and refreshments for a school picnic:

-Sandwiches (PB&J, turkey and cheese, ham and cheese, etc.) -Chips -Cookies -Fruit (grapes, apples, oranges, bananas, etc.) -Veggies (carrots, celery, cucumbers, peppers, etc.) -Drinks (water, juice boxes, soda)

Group Photo and Prizes

It was the best day of the year – the last day of school! We woke up early and got dressed in our best clothes. Then we went downstairs to eat breakfast. After that, we went outside to wait for the bus.

When the bus arrived, we all climbed aboard and found our seats. We were so excited! We knew we were going to have a great time.

Finally, we arrived at the park. We got off the bus and walked to the picnic area. There was a big table with food on it, and games set up nearby. We sat down and started to eat.

After a while, it was time for the awards ceremony. Our teacher handed out prizes for things like “Most Improved Student” and “Best Attendance Record”. Then she took a group photo of us all together.

We were so happy! It was a perfect end to a perfect year.

My school picnic was a memorable experience. I got the opportunity to explore the natural beauty around our school, bond with my classmates and make some great memories that will stay with me for a long time. The food was amazing and we even had an enjoyable game of volleyball. It’s experiences like this that remind us why going to school is important-it isn’t just about learning, it’s also about having fun!

Paragraph on a Picnic 300 Words

Paragraph on a Picnic 300 Words

A picnic is a pleasure trip or holiday taken collectively, especially in the countryside, and usually involving a meal eaten outdoors. The word is derived from the French pique-nique, which originally meant “basket”, but has come to mean “meal” or “picnic”. In the 18th century, picnics were fashionable social events among the wealthy. A typical ladies’ picnic would involve packing an elaborate meal into a basket and walking some distance to an attractive spot where they would spread out a tablecloth and dine al fresco. Picnics are now enjoyed by people of all ages and classes and have become more casual affairs. They are often held in parks or other open spaces, and can be either public or private. A picnic can be as simple as taking a packed lunch to eat in the park, or it can be a more elaborate affair involving food, drink, games and entertainment. Whether you are planning a simple picnic for yourself or a large gathering for family and friends, there are some things to consider before you start packing your picnic basket. The first thing to think about is the weather. If it is likely to be hot, make sure you pack plenty of drinks and food that won’t spoil in the heat. If it looks like it might rain, pack some umbrellas or waterproofs just in case. Next, think about what kind of food you want to take. All in all, picnics are great opportunities to enjoy good weather and good company. So long as you remember the essentials – food, drink, and something to sit on – then you can have a picnic wherever you like. Just be sure to clean up after yourself when you’re done!

Paragraph on a Picnic 400 + Words

It can be as simple as packing a few sandwiches and heading to your local park, or you can go all out and plan a multi-course meal complete with wine and cheese. No matter how you choose to picnic, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure it’s a success. In this blog post, we’ll share our top tips for picnicking, from what to pack to how to set up your perfect spot. The Perfect Picnic Spot : When planning the perfect picnic, finding the right spot is key. You’ll want to find a spot that’s comfortable, has good scenery, and is close to all the amenities you’ll need. Here are a few things to keep in mind when picking the perfect picnic spot: Comfort: Look for a spot that has plenty of space to spread out and relax. A blanket or some chairs will make it more comfortable. Good scenery: pick a spot with a view that you’ll enjoy. This could be by a lake, in a park, or even in your own backyard. Amenities: If you’re picnicking in a public space, look for areas that have restrooms nearby, as well as places to buy food and drinks if you need them.

The Ideal Picnic Menu

Assuming you’re packing a picnic for two, the ideal menu would include: -1 bottle of white wine -1 bottle of sparkling water -2 sandwiches (one with chicken, the other with roasted vegetables) -1 baguette -1 container of olives -1 wheel of brie cheese -2 apples -1 blanket

What to Pack for Your Picnic

When packing for your picnic, be sure to include the following items: -A large blanket or two to sit on -A cooler with ice packs to keep food and drinks cold -A variety of food and drinks, including snacks, sandwiches, main dishes, and dessert -Plates, cups, napkins, utensils, and other picnic essentials -Sunscreen and insect repellent -An emergency kit with a first aid kit, flashlight, and whistle

How to Enjoy Your Picnic

A picnic is a great way to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. Here are some tips on how to make the most of your picnic:

  • Choose a scenic location. A beautiful setting will make your picnic more enjoyable.
  • Bring plenty of food and drinks. You don’t want to run out of food or drinks while you’re enjoying your picnic.
  • Don’t forget the basics. Make sure to bring along plates, utensils, and napkins.
  • Plan some activities. A few simple games or activities will help keep everyone entertained during your picnic.
  • Enjoy the company and the scenery. Take some time to relax and enjoy being outdoors with the people you care about most.

What to Do at the Picnic

Assuming you’re referring to a picnic as an event where people eat outdoors, there are a few things you can do to make sure everyone has a good time. First, come up with a menu that will please everyone. If you’re not sure what to make, consider doing a potluck picnic where everyone brings their favorite dish. This way, there’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy. Next, make sure you have all the supplies you’ll need for the picnic. This includes things like plates, utensils, napkins, and food storage containers. Don’t forget about things like insect repellent and sunscreen if you’re picnicking in warm weather! Finally, clean up after yourself when the picnic is over. This means putting all your trash in the garbage bags and taking them with you when you leave. Leaving behind a mess for someone else to clean up is rude and inconsiderate.

All in all, picnics are a great way to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family while savoring some delicious food. So next time you’re feeling cooped up, plan a picnic and head out to your favorite spot for an enjoyable day in nature.

Essay on School Picnic 200 words

It was the first day in school after first term examination when school picnic for this year was announced in the class. Everyone has been excited since then. This year’s picnic was destined to be at Vananchal resort which is located in the forest of Jambughoda. Luckily for me and my group permission of our parents has never been a problem, so we were set to go since the day of announcement.

It was a cold winter morning, the school bus departed at sharp seven in the morning. Almost two hour long route to the resort felt like a matter of few minutes as we played fun games with fellow classmates. We reported to the resort at around 9, we were all provided welcome drinks. Then we left for nature walk where we saw varied types of trees and birds. After the nature walk it was time for the most exciting part of the picnic.

Yes! It was pool time which unfortunately couldn’t last whole day. That’s the thing about pool, no matter how long you get to be in it, it’s never enough. Then we had lunch, followed by some fun activities such as rappelling and zip-line which too was fun. The time passed so soon that we couldn’t even realize the day was over. This was indeed a day I’ll cherish for a long time.

Essay on School Picnic to Water Park 300 words

“Picnic”, a day every student in the school is eagerly awaits the whole year. This year’s school picnic was to be held at Splash Water Park which was at three hour’s drive from our school. Everyone from my class was showing up for the picnic expect for one of my friend Kashyap who unfortunately was out of station on the day of picnic to attend some family function.

School Picnic to Water Park

On the day of the picnic unlike every other day we reported to the school earlier than our regular timings, due to excitement, obviously! Our class was divided into four groups of ten students each. Each group had one leader to watch upon the respective team members. I was the captain of our group.

We reached the destination at 10am and were given half an hour to collect our swim suits take a shower and get ready for the real fun. Water Park was full of amazing water rides namely Demon’s hole, lazy river, Amazonia, free fall, loop hole, etc. Demon’s hole and Amazonia were my favourite. Demon’s hole was a dark cylindrical water slide with utterly thrilling twists and turns and Amazonia was a super large water slide which took us through an artificially created jungle, which gave a feel of passing through the streams in Amazon rain forests.

In lunch, we were served lip-smacking Punjabi food with gulab jamuns in dessert. Then, there was a wave pool, besides which there was a beautiful artificial waterfall. We checked out from the park at 5pm in the evening and returned to our school at around eight.

I remember almost nothing from the return journey as we were all tired till the end of the day. Our legs were paining as they had exercised hard while climbing those steps for the slides, and thus out of exhaustion almost everyone was asleep in the bus while returning. It was a day well spent.

Essay on School Picnic to Amusement Park 400 words

Amusement park have always been my favourite destination for a day out. To my delight this year’s school picnic was destined to Essel world. This picnic meant a lot as it was our tenth standard and maybe was the last year together in school. Next year I and my friends will be in different streams. We had every hope to make this one memorable so that we bid goodbye having loads of happy memories.

School Picnic to Amusement Park

Sleepless night has always been a pre-picnic symptom for me. I could never sleep until late at night before picnic out of thoughts of how amazing the following day would be. The way from school to the amusement park was quite a long one during which we played dumb charades and truth and dare to kill time.

We were dropped at a place via bus from which we had to check in a boat to further reach the amusement park. From the boat we could see a ride called Shot-N-Drop. We could hear the shouts of people enjoying the ride and could feel the thrill from the boat itself. It was our day today, maybe the last one with our people, and we had to make the most out of it. So, without even wasting a minute we rushed into the park to gain the most out of it.

Today, I don’t remember every ride we had been on, but I still remember the butterflies in my stomach when a ride named thunder swung us all from one side to the other, those moments of thrill and fear when Shot-N-Drop had us on free fall, those goose bumps when Top-Spin whirled us round, those stupid laughs when our dashing cars dashed into others, that joy of finally making out of Alibaba’s mirror maze and that tingling moment when Aqua-dive splash splashed upon us the droplets of cold water.

The happiness that we gained in the most simple things in life, bursting into laughter after playing pranks on our fellow classmates and that momentary anger of the one who had been pranked, those tired yet smiling faces at the end of the day and many more tingling moments are the memories to cherish forever.

Memories of this day will always hold a cosy corner in my and all our hearts. Somewhere I still wish if I could go back to this day again and feel that same thing with those same people all over again.

Essay on School Picnic to Zoo 500 words

I was in standard 3 rd when my school had arranged a picnic to Kamla Nehru zoo situated besides Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad. Being a kid, I was extremely excited for the picnic. A day before picnic I went to the nearby shop with my father to buy some snacks for the picnic. I bought a packet of chips, cookies, soya sticks and few packets of chewing gum.

My School Picnic to Zoo

This was probably the only day in the whole year when I would pack my things up the previous night, obviously because I didn’t want to get late on the picnic day. After making my things ready I made a conference call with my friends. We discussed about how excited we all were for our picnic. We fixed the time we were going to catch up the next day.

I was up before the alarm despite not being able to sleep until late at night. I got to school at around 7am in the morning, half an hour prior to the reporting time. We had to be in pair on this day, which was decided on the basis of roll numbers, luckily for me I partnered up with Manan whose number was right next to me. Singing, dancing, playing we travelled the road till the destination. We were served ice-cream as soon as we got there. We were all excited to step in the zoo.

First of all we had to enter the bird section where we saw a number of varied and beautiful birds. Toucan, a black and yellow coloured bird with a large beak, kingfisher a little bird with most vivid colours, Hornbill a beautiful bird with a horn like thing on its head and albatross a fine white and black coloured with aquatic habitat were some of the birds we saw. We also saw deer, hippopotamus, fox, wolf, alligator, crocodile, wild ass, yellow python snake, bear and many more. But our favourite ones were still left, where we had to visit after the lunch.

Finally, after the lunch it was the time for which we were all so excited about – to see the fastest animal cheetah, the national animal tiger and of course the king of the jungle, lion. We also saw jaguar and leopard. We were done with the zoo at around 3 in the afternoon, and we had time until 5 pm so the teachers decided to take us all to have a look around at Kankaria Lake. It was a beautiful place.

We sat on a mini toy train there which took us on a ride around the lake. After everyone completed the ride, it was almost 5 which was the time to leave for home. Teachers started counting the number of students, which brought them to the conclusion that one kid from our class has been missing. The teachers panicked however they were finally able to find Hussain, the lost one after 10 minutes of search operation.

Today, it might be a mere picnic to a zoo, but when I remember back I realized how these little things used to make me happy.

Essay on School Picnic to Kidzania 600 words

School trips are the most awaited ones. They not only give us a long break from our monotonous lives but also bring lots of memories. Last year, I went to Kidzania for the school trip and here are my experiences from that trip.

My School Picnic to Kidzania

Our day at Kidzania began at 9 in the morning. I was stunned looking at this wonderful place which was actually a city which we have all dreamt about. It was clean, had well organized buildings, well developed roads, factories, police station, grocery shops, trees and everything that is present in a well developed city. The day began with Kidzania theme song where all the staff members dance and welcome the kids and their parents.

Just as every country has its own currency; Kidzania also has its own currency named Kidzos. After entering every child is given a cheque of 50 Kidzos which he/ she can withdraw whenever needed to enjoy the activities in the Kidzania world.

There were different buildings build for different purposes. There were offices, factories and many other places where we can work and get salary in Kidzos. The kids are divided in different groups for different jobs as per their age. First of all, I and my friends went to the dentist and learnt some skills for removing the tooth having cavities. Not only this, we also did check up of other kids with different instruments. At the end of that, the head dentist made us understand about how crucial it is to do proper brushing. After that, we went to the bakery and made our very own delicious donuts.

We also did the wall painting on a very huge wall besides the road. Then, we got to know that there is a fashion show and we can walk on the ramp wearing those beautiful clothes. I and my friends couldn’t control our excitement and we immediately went for that. We walked through the ramp and it was an amazing experience. To our excitement, we saw an ice cream parlour next to that building. Going inside we realized that we can make our own ice cream, of whichever flavour we like. Similarly, there was a Kinder Joy factory where we made Kinder Joy and a Kellogs factory where we made Chocos.

Not just work, there were buildings in which there were classes to learn dance, play guitar, drums and flute, and also sing. So, we tried out almost everything we could. I learnt few notes on guitar and that was my first time on any musical instrument. After learning all this new stuff, we thought to try our hands on gadgets also. So, we went to the gadget store nearby where we were given information about the technology used in mobile phones and laptops. It was real fun.

To end our tour, there was a series of folk dances and music where all the kids had prepared something of their own for the entertainment of the audiences. I was also a part of a group with whom I performed Bhangra. This made us interact with other kids more and that is where I made my new friends who were basically from Amritsar, my birth place. All of the shows, including the singing event, helped us know how amazingly talented other kids were. After all of this there was a thank you speech by the staff members with whom we were also connected now.

All of this experience of being part of this amazing world was beyond words. It was the world where we not just used the amenities but also helped in creating them. The joy of making something on your own was just beyond words. Every kid should once visit Kidzania in their childhood and make long lasting memories there.

A Descriptive Essay on Picnics, 500 Words

By: Haque , For class 9-12, 05-03-’22

1. A pleasant diversion. 2. Kinds of picnics; (a) family party; (b) a party of friends. 3. Stages (a) planning; (b) arrangements; (c) the picnic itself – our participation; (d) the return journey. 4. What makes a picnic so enjoyable. 5. Personal experience.

Picnics are a pleasant diversion. They break the monotony of life and add a touch of variety. They may be said to touch the prosaic life with the charm of poetry. Springs of joy well up, free from the burden of duties and responsibilities. Hence they are often a refreshing tonic.

Picnics are of various kinds. One may have a picnic with one’s family. This is an escape from the dreariness of domesticity. It is likely to be the pleasantest. As the relationship between parents and children and between siblings also often becomes formal and lifeless. An outing in the open air, away from the well-marked convenience that is so necessary to make existence smooth, is in the nature of a pleasant surprise. It lifts us out of our habitual routine; it brings out the very best in each of us. In Satyajit Roy’s ‘Sakha-Prosakha’ there is such a catchy family picnic scene.

Another kind of picnic is with friends. This is far more common with us. Students of schools and colleges as well as members of clubs and institutions often organize these outlines like picnics. It must be fun for a group of friends to go out together and enjoy some kind of novelty.

A picnic has four stages. The first stage is planning. The selection of the spot, of the party, and of the nature of the outing give ample scope for discussion and makes things lively. The joy of a picnic often lies in the discovery that something has been left behind, something has been mistaken and the plan was not fool-proof. But things are taken lightly, in a good-humored spirit.

Next, come preparations. One must arrange conveyances, collect utensils and eatables. Usually, there is a division of labor and responsibility. Some bring one thing other bring something else. It is a lesson in acquiring organizational skills. The leader has to see if everything is OK.

Then we have the picnic itself. Going around with mismanagement is not a picnic. If there is a mistake or a misadventure it has to be met with humor and laughter.

My experience of such a picnic is pleasantly memorable. There were ladies with us to supervise the cooking. But they stood aloof to enjoy the day, on the plea that the Dhenki (a wooden husking device) should not husk even when in heaven. So we merrily ate the underboiled rice and charred fries. We played cards, carom, and sang to our heart’s content, amidst punctuated gossip.

Finally, there is the return journey. Things have to be packed up carefully. FOn the way back there is a lot to talk about, a lot to think about and remember.

A picnic is not for those who want everything to be as tidy and orderly as home. People go on picnics for the new environment and adventure out of the monotony of daily life. So, only those who are able to easily adapt to the discomfort and minor errors really enjoy the picnic.

Essay on A Picnic I Enjoyed, 450 Words

By: Haque , For class 9-10/SSC, 05-03-’22

Introduction: I have had many picnics in my life. Almost all of them were very enjoyable. Among them, one is very favorite to me.

Preparations for the Picnic: The picnic took place when I was a student at the University of Chittagong. The classes of our third semester BBA course had just started. The teachers and students were feeling the need for rejuvenation. For achieving that goal, it was decided that there could be nothing better than a picnic party. Bandarban was selected as the place of the picnic. At first, a committee was formed with participation from students and teachers for collecting contributions and making all necessary arrangements for the picnic. The committee collected contributions from every one of the classes. Two big chair coaches were hired and other preparations were finished in time.

Description of the Picnic: On the appointed day we gathered at the university campus early in the morning. There was a festive environment. Everyone was in a jolly mood. All of us got on the chair coaches. All necessary goods and food items were also taken on the buses. We took with us rice, ghee, meat, fish, sauce, jam, fruits, spices, bread and other necessary things for cooking. There were also necessary pots, plates, kerosene stoves, spoons, and forks. As soon as all the students reached, we started our journey. It was about 8 AM. We had a microphone and loudspeaker with us. The members of our picnic party were made to perform one after another. Some recited poems, some sang songs, some cracked jokes, some played music, and some gave speeches. We had fifteen honorable teachers with us. They also participated in the performances. Every performance invoked much applause. Some of the performers received standing ovations. We had breakfast on the coaches at about 9 AM with bread, apple, banana, boiled egg, and tea. At about 11 in the morning, we reached Bandarban. We selected Meghla Tourist Spot as the place for our picnic. We all got down and arranged our materials for cooking. We had some expert cooks with us. They took the charge of cooking. The others helped them. Meghla was a very beautiful place. It had a beautiful lake, hills, and a hanging bridge. We were enjoying the natural beauties very much. We had a meal at about 2 PM. Then all of us set out to visit Bandarban city. We went to Shaila Propat, Balaghata Buddhist Temple, the king’s house, and other places of Bandarban. After the sunset, we started our return journey.

Conclusion: It was a very enjoyable event in my life. The memory of the picnic will remain ever fresh in my mind.

Short Essay on a Picnic with Family – Essay 1 (200 words)

Introduction

In order to escape from the hustle and bustle of the routine life, a retreat is a must. What can be more enjoyable than a picnic time with family with whom we do not get to spend enough time? A picnic not only freshens up the mind, but also helps us to explore new places and enjoy food with our family.

The Picnic – How It Was

We chose the community park of our locality that is situated right beside the limpid brook. The park had a children’s play area where the kids of our family played on slides, swings and other play equipments.

We carried our lunch to the park and decided to have it at the separate picnic area, which we had reserved for that day. After lunch, we sat near the brook, fed the ducks and squirrels and took a walk along the trail. The sunset seen above the brook during twilight was magical and we returned before it was dark.

It was a day well spent with all the members of the family and with this we had a great opportunity to breathe in the fresh air. Escaping the daily routine for a day and being in nature’s lap is definitely important in life.

Essay on a Picnic that I Enjoyed with my Family – Essay 2 (300 words)

In the strain of the work load and juggling between multiple chores, having a family picnic was like an alienated topic to me. All I wanted to have was a relaxing getaway with my family at some place off the beaten path where the city commotions will not be deafening and the air will be pure. Finding such a place was not much of a problem as living in countryside comes up with many pristine places which are yet to be explored.

The Long-Awaited Picnic

It was during the weekend of Christmas and we decided to utilize the vacation fully on the outskirts at a nature park. As most people generally gathered at the urban areas to take the full essence of Christmas, the nature park was less crowded and it gave us the opportunity to reserve a campsite to stay overnight and have picnic.

Surrounded by towering Pine grove, the picnic area was serene with only the chirping of the birds penetrating the silence. The murmuring cascade nearby added to the charm of the forest and we made sure to take a dip into the pool formed beneath the waterfall. The hike to the falls was easy for all the members of family and especially my little nephew was overwhelmed.

Appetite soon hit us after taking a refreshing swim and thanks to my mother, we filled our tummies with delicious sandwiches. Meanwhile my brother was busy barbecuing the chicken with his wife and with it, our lunch was sumptuous.

In the evening, we had bonfire at the picnic site and under the starlit sky, the picnic concluded as we entered our respective camps.

Far from the city crowd, a picnic with family was something all of us longed for to explore the other side of life. A small rustic campsite with grille and picnic facility made our time enjoyable and the added bonanza was the refreshing plunge into the pool.

Essay on Outing with My Family – Essay 3 (400 words)

While sunny days are the most convenient for outing, monsoon showers have their own charm and enjoying rain on a family outing has long been on my bucket-list. Being an avid hiker and photographer, the passion for exploring new places run through my genes, just as my father and mother. My sister who lives in another city had come to our place for her vacations and it was a perfect setup to plan an outing which would rejuvenate our mind and let us enjoy the magic of rains to the fullest.

Outing on the Blue Mountains

The Neelakurinji flower that blooms after a cycle of twelve years was the main attraction behind choosing the Blue Mountains or Western Ghats for the family outing. A long drive along the winding paths of Kodaikanal was a treat in itself and all the members of the family enjoyed watching the rain soaked tender green plantation along the road.

The carpet of the purple Neelakurinji along the hill slopes flashed in front of our eyes as we reached the picnic spot. After freshening up at the restroom of the picnic area, we set out to explore the forests passing through which we would reach the slopes of the Neelakurinji flower meadows. Rain had subdued by then and a magical mist emerged from the top of the mountains.

The soil was wet but there was no clogging of water, which made hiking through the grassland easy for us. The number of flowers gradually increased and finally we were standing in a purple flower laden meadow where soil could not be seen beneath.

We spent quality time taking pictures of this rare flower before hiking back to the picnic area. The caretaker of the picnic spot greeted us with fuming coffee sourced from the nearby coffee plantation along with crunchy vegetable chops. The lunch comprised of Fried Rice, Chilly Chicken and fried vegetables which is grown at the farm nearby.

We spent some more hours watching the rain in the mountains while having the fruit custard prepared by the caretaker’s wife. The couple also talked with us regarding his farms and the picnic spot which gets filled with tourists during public holidays. Biding adieu and promising to return someday, we were homebound.

A break from the monotony of life not only infused a sense of tranquility in our mind, but also helped each of us spend quality time with each other, something we do not get scope of in the routine schedules. The Western Ghat outing was a lifetime experience with the Neelakurinjis.

Essay on A Picnic with My Family and Relatives – Essay 4 (500 words)

The series of examinations made my brain tired of long hours of study and I badly needed a time out with my family. As for my family, they too had not been gone for any outing for the past few years and hence, after the last exam, I decided to call up my aged uncle who lives in another city and ask him to come over with his family. It was time for a family picnic where parents and kids could meet for a reunion and spend a day happily.

Deciding the Place

While my little nephew and niece jumped for the waterpark, my cousin called for the city memorial park and the elders wanted to go to the riverside picnic spot. Finally I and my sister-in-law suggested the countryside farm where my cousin could enjoy photography, kids could interact with farm animals and parents could explore the farm. Everyone jumped in unison and I called the farm owner to confirm our picnic visit the day after.

The Journey

Waking up early and getting ready for the picnic outing, we finally set out in our car. The owner had verified our visit that day and also prescribed the route to be taken to reach his farm. My Mother and aunt had packed breakfast for us which were finished in no time. From the well paved city highway, we took the sideway path that led us to the outskirts where the farm is situated. The pasture fields on both sides of the road and the country cottages kept us charmed till we reached the farm.

The Farm and the Picnic

The cheerful old owner was standing in front of the gate to greet us and his friendliness immediately made all of us comfortable. He escorted us to the rustic cottage where the brick fireplace made us feel cozy. We were served homemade cakes and breads before he took us to the petting farm.

My nephew and niece were screaming in joy seeing the large cocks and hens, rabbits, cows, buffalos, ponies and horses roaming about freely. The owner also gave us grains to feed the birds and grass to feed the animals. The best part however was the pony rides, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed.

My uncle and father remained with the kids and animals while my mother and aunt were busy in the barn kitchen preparing the lunch. Meanwhile I, my cousin and sister-in-law accompanied the owner, had a look at his vast farm where he grew sunflowers, grapes, pumpkins, tomatoes, potatoes and radishes.

As it was the harvest time, he let us pick the vegetables and grapes to bring back home as well as use for lunch specials with eggs and meat dishes obtained from the farm only. After having a scrumptious lunch together on the large table, all of us decided to interact with the owner, take a walk around the farm and fondle the animals, before setting out for home with a relaxed and stress free mind.

Although meeting the relatives regularly is not possible, thanks to our tight schedules but a quick plan for picnic brought all of us together to have endless chitchats, have food together and visit a new place together. The day ended with a heavy heart but the memory will remain forever.

Essay on Picnic in the Park with Family – My Best Experience – Essay 5 (600 words)

It was during the scorching summer months of the year and summer vacations were going on. With daily office, school and college, neither my father nor I and my sister could plan for a family picnic. The temperature was increasing day by day and my mother suggested that we all should go for a family picnic at the city waterpark. Nothing could be more refreshing than splashing water for the whole day and relaxing on hammocks under shades of trees.

The Picnic Spot

To avoid the weekend crowds, my father planned the picnic on a weekday. The waterpark had lazy rivers, swimming pools, water slides and splash pads. It also had an amusement center where thrill rides enchanted me. The highlight was a separate picnic area tucked in the garden where mango, banyan, palm and eucalyptus trees provided ample shade. We reserved a poolside cabana and the picnic gazebo overlooking the lazy river right under the shade of the mango tree.

How We Spent the Day

While my mother, my sister and I arranged spare clothes and towels along with some dry food, father finalized the route and picking up time with the car driver. We set out at 8 am and reached the waterpark at 9.30 am. My father took the tickets while I bought the refreshments before entering.

After entering, we put our belongings in the lockers and freshened up at the restroom while my mother made sure we have the stomach-full of breakfast with Bread and Butter, Noodles and Egg Benedicts. Afterwards we decided to check out the play area where kids were riding slides and rocking on swings. Swans were roaming about whom we fed bread crumbs. We then explored the garden area where many annual, perennial and ornamental plants were planted in separate areas. Mother, being an avid gardening enthusiast, was thoroughly delighted to see the rose beds and cactus at the greenhouse.

The temperature was increasing and so we decided to take a dip into the large pool area. Being a weekday, there was not much crowd and we had so much fun splashing water onto each other and jumping at the splash pad area. My parents were a bit hesitant in entering the pool, but we dragged them anyway. As father rented tubes for me and my sister, we decided to take a leisurely float on tubes on the lazy river before having large pepperoni pizzas and fried chicken for lunch from the picnic gazebo.

The main attraction however was the water slides and tunnels which dropped at the main pool. As they were costly, we opted for only one and it was worth it. After some more soaking in the pool, we entered the cabana and change into new clothes. The cold beverages served here, were very refreshing. Next we visited the amusement park to ride the Roller Coaster and Sky Wheel which made our hearts beat faster in delight. I and mother had ice creams while my sister took the candy floss and father took the roasted groundnuts from the concession carousel.

It was late afternoon by then and the sun was not so scorching. As we were tired after so much action, we decided to sit back at the cabana and enjoy watching others in the pools. We were served cold coffee before we started for home at 5 pm.

With a perfect combination of greenery, water slides, pools and amusement rides, our picnic at the city waterpark was full of fun even when the sun beat down upon us mercilessly. The cool water of the pool area was soothing in the sweltering heat and we had the best picnic experience under the mango grove.

All summer long, we’ll be recommending where to eat and drink to take advantage of a New York summer weekend, including great patios, one-time pop-ups, and easy day trips, updated every Friday. Have a pick for us to include? Let us know at [email protected].

Gyros, chicken, pita, and fries on a tray.

Let’s Go Ya Souvlakia : While most Greek restaurants in town specialize in seafood, this three-week-old spot right on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Heights goes in the opposite direction, highlighting flame-grilled meats. These are superbly done, and available as pita sandwiches, platters, skewers, or in appetizer-size portions. Three kinds of gyro are offered — pork, chicken, and lamb-beef — all crammed into the Ya platter, bedded on a giant tray of french fries with salad, pita triangles, and tzatziki. The bulbous loukaniko sausage flavored with leeks and dribbled with garlic sauce is fantastic, and so is the skirt steak skewer — both available as single kebabs. These are meal-size salads, too, with or without meat. But the biggest draw of all may be the umbrellaed rear garden, which catches cool breezes in hot weather. 295 Flatbush Avenue, near Prospect Place, Prospect Heights

A space-age-looking concession stand at a roller rink.

Xanadu Roller Arts : The world is scary and it can be hard to find joy. Not so at Xanadu, a massive roller rink and nightclub that opened this week in Bushwick, where your body will be showered in wholesome fun. The concessions stand is better than it needs to be — with hot dogs that come topped with Indian relish, mushroom chile crisp, and pierogies. Save room for the Ambrosia salad with Oreos. 262 Starr Street, near Wyckoff Avenue

Hummus, labne, kimchi, and other pickled items made in-house at Dukan Syko.

Dukan Syko: All the fixins you need for a picnic spread can be found at Dukan Syko, the new Syrian Korean grocery that opened in Windsor Terrace, from the family behind a takeout counter with the same premise. Pick-up kimchi, Middle Eastern handpies, and canned bubble tea, and walk it down the street to Prospect Park. 214A Prospect Park West, near 16th Street, Windsor Terrace

  • The exponential growth of solar power will change the world

An energy-rich future is within reach

The sun at dawn rising over a solar panel

Your browser does not support the <audio> element.

I t is 70 years since AT&T ’s Bell Labs unveiled a new technology for turning sunlight into power. The phone company hoped it could replace the batteries that run equipment in out-of-the-way places. It also realised that powering devices with light alone showed how science could make the future seem wonderful; hence a press event at which sunshine kept a toy Ferris wheel spinning round and round.

Today solar power is long past the toy phase. Panels now occupy an area around half that of Wales, and this year they will provide the world with about 6% of its electricity—which is almost three times as much electrical energy as America consumed back in 1954. Yet this historic growth is only the second-most-remarkable thing about the rise of solar power. The most remarkable is that it is nowhere near over.

To call solar power’s rise exponential is not hyperbole, but a statement of fact. Installed solar capacity doubles roughly every three years, and so grows ten-fold each decade. Such sustained growth is seldom seen in anything that matters. That makes it hard for people to get their heads round what is going on. When it was a tenth of its current size ten years ago, solar power was still seen as marginal even by experts who knew how fast it had grown. The next ten-fold increase will be equivalent to multiplying the world’s entire fleet of nuclear reactors by eight in less than the time it typically takes to build just a single one of them.

Solar cells will in all likelihood be the single biggest source of electrical power on the planet by the mid 2030s. By the 2040s they may be the largest source not just of electricity but of all energy. On current trends, the all-in cost of the electricity they produce promises to be less than half as expensive as the cheapest available today. This will not stop climate change, but could slow it a lot faster. Much of the world—including Africa , where 600m people still cannot light their homes—will begin to feel energy-rich. That feeling will be a new and transformational one for humankind.

To grasp that this is not some environmentalist fever dream, consider solar economics. As the cumulative production of a manufactured good increases, costs go down. As costs go down, demand goes up. As demand goes up, production increases—and costs go down further. This cannot go on for ever; production, demand or both always become constrained. In earlier energy transitions—from wood to coal, coal to oil or oil to gas—the efficiency of extraction grew, but it was eventually offset by the cost of finding ever more fuel.

As our essay this week explains, solar power faces no such constraint. The resources needed to produce solar cells and plant them on solar farms are silicon-rich sand, sunny places and human ingenuity, all three of which are abundant. Making cells also takes energy, but solar power is fast making that abundant, too. As for demand, it is both huge and elastic—if you make electricity cheaper, people will find uses for it. The result is that, in contrast to earlier energy sources, solar power has routinely become cheaper and will continue to do so.

Other constraints do exist. Given people’s proclivity for living outside daylight hours, solar power needs to be complemented with storage and supplemented by other technologies. Heavy industry and aviation and freight have been hard to electrify. Fortunately, these problems may be solved as batteries and fuels created by electrolysis gradually become cheaper.

Another worry is that the vast majority of the world’s solar panels, and almost all the purified silicon from which they are made, come from China. Its solar industry is highly competitive, heavily subsidised and is outstripping current demand—quite an achievement given all the solar capacity China is installing within its own borders. This means that Chinese capacity is big enough to keep the expansion going for years to come, even if some of the companies involved go to the wall and some investment dries up.

In the long run, a world in which more energy is generated without the oil and gas that come from unstable or unfriendly parts of the world will be more dependable. Still, although the Chinese Communist Party cannot rig the price of sunlight as OPEC tries to rig that of oil, the fact that a vital industry resides in a single hostile country is worrying.

It is a concern that America feels keenly, which is why it has put tariffs on Chinese solar equipment. However, because almost all the demand for solar panels still lies in the future, the rest of the world will have plenty of scope to get into the market. America’s adoption of solar energy could be frustrated by a pro-fossil-fuel Trump presidency, but only temporarily and painfully. It could equally be enhanced if America released pent up demand, by making it easier to install panels on homes and to join the grid—the country has a terawatt of new solar capacity waiting to be connected. Carbon prices would help, just as they did in the switch from coal to gas in the European Union.

The aim should be for the virtuous circle of solar-power production to turn as fast as possible. That is because it offers the prize of cheaper energy. The benefits start with a boost to productivity. Anything that people use energy for today will cost less—and that includes pretty much everything. Then come the things cheap energy will make possible. People who could never afford to will start lighting their houses or driving a car. Cheap energy can purify water, and even desalinate it. It can drive the hungry machinery of artificial intelligence. It can make billions of homes and offices more bearable in summers that will, for decades to come, be getting hotter.

But it is the things that nobody has yet thought of that will be most consequential. In its radical abundance, cheaper energy will free the imagination, setting tiny Ferris wheels of the mind spinning with excitement and new possibilities.

This week marks the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere. The Sun rising to its highest point in the sky will in decades to come shine down on a world where nobody need go without the blessings of electricity and where the access to energy invigorates all those it touches. ■
