Eligibility for GNM Nursing Course

• The minimum education qualification required is 12th pass for apply GNM Nursing course.
• Arts, Science and Commerce students apply for this course.
• The minimum age for this course is 17th years and the maximum is 35th years.
• On a few hospitals, the male candidate also apply for male GNM nursing course.

GNM Nursing Course Details

GNM Nursing is a 3½ year Course. In the first 3 years, students will improve their academic knowledge, seat Exams and last 6 months is an internship programme. After that students will receive a valid registration certificate form West Bengal Nursing Council.

Course Fees for GNM Nursing

The courses for GNM Nursing training course is very low on the government Training Schools. But it is very much higher on Private Training schools.

Job Scope & Availability

After completing the GNM Nursing Training Course, you can join as a staff nurse on any private hospital with a salary of approx Rs. 33,000 per month.

When a Government recruitment notice will publish you can apply there, on the basis of year academic qualification you will get a job as a staff nurse in a government hospital. The salary of a WB government GNM staff nurse is approx Rs. 33,000 per month.

Admission on GNM Nursing Training Course

The admission to the West Bengal GNM Nursing training course will start from May to June every year. Admission to the government and Private nursing Training School will be done through WBJEE GNM Entrance Examinations.

PwD means ‘Person with Disability’. Students, who are Physically challenged, can submit this certificate.

WBJEE ANM GNM 2021 Eligibility Criteria

WBJEE ANM and GNM 2021 require passing a class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognised board as minimum academic qualifications.

Age Restrictions:

To be eligible to sit the WBJEE ANM and GNM 2021, the student must be 17 years old by December 31, 2021.

■ যোগ্যতা এবং শিক্ষাগত যোগ্যতার মাপকাঠি : এএনএম(আর) ও জিএনএম-২০২১-এ পরীক্ষা দেওয়ার যোগ্যতা—

(a) আবেদনকারীকে অবশ্যই ভারতের নাগরিক হতে হবে।

(b) আবেদনকারীকে (10+2) সিস্টেমে দ্বাদশ শ্রেণির পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হতে হবে অথবা 2021 সালে ওই পরীক্ষায় বসতে হবে।

(c) আবেদনকারীর বয়স 31.122021 তারিখে কমপক্ষে 17 (সতেরো) বছর হতে হবে। অর্থাৎ, আবেদনকারীর 31.12.2004 তারিখে বা তার আগে জন্মগ্রহণ করা উচিত।

Only one of the four options is correct

Each correct answer will fetch +1 mark

Each incorrect answer will fetch -¼ mark

For Section II:

One or more option(s) is/are correct

All correct options will earn +2 marks only

For partially correct answers i.e. when no incorrect options are marked and all correct options are unmarked, the marks rewarded will be calculated as –

The syllabus for West Bengal ANM/GNM Nursing Admission 2024 is based on the curriculum of Classes 11 & 12 under the recognized Board/Council.

Questions in the Life Science, Physical Science and Mathematics sections will be based on the syllabus of Class 10. Questions on English, Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge will be asked from the syllabus of Class 12.

After registering successfully with User ID and Password, candidates must fill in the online application form with personal details, like Name, DOB, Gender, Identification Type etc. and click on the ‘Submit’ button to proceed to the next page.

How are the Ranks Awarded in the WB ANM GNM exam 2024?

The WB ANM GNM 2024 result will be published as rank cards which contain all the ranks and scores. A rank list is never published by the board in order to maintain the confidentiality of individual candidates.

Point to be noted: All candidates who appeared for WB ANM GNM 2024 will have a rank card with scores issued in their name. But every candidate may not be awarded a rank and hence might not be eligible for WB ANM GNM 2024 counselling process. A cutoff score and a cutoff rank are decided by the Board.

General merit rank

The rank assigned will be in the name and style of GMR or General Merit Rank.

GMR’s sequence will be decided by the marks scored in the exam.

Ranks will be awarded in descending order of the marks score and in case of ties, the tie-breaking rules will be applicable.

Category merit rank

A separate reserved category WB ANM GNM 2024 merit list will be published that will include ranks for categories such as SC Rank, ST rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC- B Rank, PWD ranks, etc.

Sequencing order for the process of counselling/allotment of seats and admission will be done on the basis of GMR and not category ranks. The category ranks are published only for the sake of information to candidates of the respective categories.

The generation of category ranks depends on the category information provided by the candidates during the online application process. However, these documents undergo verification by the allotted institutes during the counselling stage. Therefore, certificates, documents, and proofs must be valid as on the date of verification, otherwise, any invalid document will lead to category rank cancellation. The candidate will then be considered in the general category. Other candidates' ranks will not undergo any revision.

West Bengal GNM/ANM 2024 Counselling Process

Admission to ANM and GNM nursing courses in the various colleges in West Bengal is done purely on the basis of marks and ranks obtained by candidates in the entrance test. WBJEEB will declare the WB ANM/GNM 2024 Result dates and merit list soon after the exam. Candidates who make it to the list are then called for a document verification/ counselling process. After that, candidates are allotted seats at institutions as per their preference (provided during application form filling) and their merit.

At the time of document verification, some documents must be carried along by candidates, you must carry the following original documents as well as their self-attested photocopies.

PWD Certificate (if valid)

EWS Certificate (if valid)

Cast Certificate (for ST/SC/OBC students only)

Residential Certificate/ Domicile

Class 12 Mark Sheet

Class 12 Passing Certificate

Date of Birth Proof

Inmate-ship or Orphanage (if applicable)

Civil Defense Certificate in case of Lady Civil Defense Volunteers

The total number of seats available for the ANM course in West Bengal is 960 whereas, for GNM, it is 9,117. Of these seats, some are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories while others are allotted to defence volunteers and female candidates. The category-wise seat reservation for admission to GNM or ANM courses in West Bengal is mentioned below in the table.

Only candidates from the state of West Bengal can appear for the WB ANM & GNM entrance exam. All candidates are required to produce a domicile certificate to prove their eligibility at the time of application form verification.

All candidates are required to pass 10+2 or equivalent with at least 40% aggregate from a recognized Board/Council to be eligible for WB ANM Nursing Admission 2024.

To get admission to Government nursing colleges in West Bengal, one has to take the ANM & GNM entrance exam held annually by the WBJEEB. Following the exam, candidates are shortlisted for counselling based on merit, and finally offered admission to nursing colleges offering the desired course i.e. GNM in the state.
