Introduction

Hook: Sex education is provided to students in school. It usually covers human anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexual intercourse, and other related issues. There are various ways that sex education can be taught in schools. Some schools teach it as a separate class, while others integrate it into other subjects such as health or science. A variety of approaches can also be used, ranging from purely factual to more comprehensive approaches that also cover topics such as relationships and sexuality.

There exists controversy about whether sex education should or not be taught in schools. Most parents would agree that sex education should be mandatory for schools. After all, it is a parent's responsibility to teach their children about sex. However, some parents believe sex education should not be mandatory for schools. They think that sex education should be a family matter and that it is not the business of the school to teach children about sex.

Thesis statement: Sex education should be mandatory for schools to help reduce teenage pregnancy rates and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Paragraph 1

Topic sentence: Sexual education should be taught in schools for various beneficial reasons.

Supporting detail 1: For one, it can help reduce teenage pregnancy rates. Studies have shown that teenagers who receive sex education are more likely to delay having sex and to use contraception when they do have sex. This can lead to fewer teenage pregnancies and abortions. Bialystok. (2018) states, "Parents' rights to choose what their children learn in school should be balanced with the state's mandate to ensure that all children receive a quality education."

Supporting detail 3: sex education may not be relevant to all students. Some students may not be interested in learning about sex, and others may already understand the topic well. If sex education is not relevant to all students, it may not be worth teaching in school.

There are many benefits to teaching sex education in a school that outdo those of failing to teach the subject in school. For one, it can help to prevent teenage pregnancies. It can also help to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, it can help to promote healthy sexual relationships. Consequently, sex education should be mandatory for schools to help reduce teenage pregnancy rates and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
