Each CQI is organized and facilitated by a Coordinating Center, led by Program Directors and Co-directors, and a Program Manager. Michigan Medicine is home to the coordinating centers for 20 of the current CQIs.  The Michigan Social Health Interventions to Eliminate Disparities (MSHIELD) is a CQI focused on addressing health equity as a key component of quality improvement in health care (www.michiganshield.org). MSHIELDs mission is to empower CQIs to lead the future of quality improvement which achieves whole health for all people by integrating social care and clinical care, using data to drive health equity, and fostering a culture of anti-racism.   The Health Equity Data Analyst will support MSHIELD by providing data management and analysis of quantitative data from multiple sources, including national and state-based surveys, electronic health records, claims data, and social needs screening data from health care providers and community organizations. Specifically, the position involves providing independent and collaborative statistical support including: 1) compiling and maintaining a geographic-based dataset of social determinant of health (SDOH) data for Michigan for CQIs; 2) developing and testing algorithms to predict social needs and health outcomes for patients in the CQIs; 3) learning and applying equitable and anti-racist methodologies in the measurement of health outcomes; 4) creating dashboards and metrics for measuring health equity outcomes. The person in this position will also participate in anti-racism learning with the MSHIELD team and will help translate that learning to the practice of health analytics.

Under general direction of the Project and Program Supervisor, the analyst will assist CPUC decision-makers in developing high-level policy and oversee programs that are developed pursuant to those policies. To help develop CPUC policy, the analyst will conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts and develop work products that are used to advise key decision-makers such as Commissioners, Judges, and Energy Division management; this includes briefing documents and PowerPoint presentations.

The analyst will support oversight and policy development of electric and natural gas research, development, and deployment (RD&D) programs to ensure they benefit ratepayers and aid in achieving California’s goals to reduce greenhouse gas, support reliability, and promote equity. The analyst will also support the section related to other climate issues including Cap-and-Trade, climate adaptation, and general equity policies including community engagement. In this regard, the analyst will help to ensure the state’s electric and natural gas systems provide safe, reliable, and affordable service to customers while mitigating and adapting to climate change. This involves coordinating with staff subject matter experts throughout the CPUC, other state and federal entities, and diverse stakeholders.

Mizuho Americas Hires Steven Valiquette as Managing Director and Senior Equity Research Analyst to Cover Health Care Technology & Distribution

NEW YORK, June 11, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mizuho Americas today announced the hiring of Steven Valiquette as Managing Director and Senior Equity Research Analyst, covering Health Care Technology & Distribution. Based in New York, Valiquette reports to the Head of Americas Equity Research, Bill Featherston.

Valiquette has more than 25 years of experience covering the Health Care sector and has been ranked in the top five in Health Care Technology & Distribution in the Institutional Investor’s All-America Research Team survey more than five times. Most recently, he was Managing Director, Equity Research Analyst at Barclays focused on Health Care Technology & Distribution, as well as two other Health Care sub-sectors.

Prior to Barclays, Valiquette was at Bank of America where he provided sell-side equity research coverage on approximately 25 Health Care companies in the Pharmaceutical Distribution, Retail Pharmacy, PBM, Dental/Medical Distribution, and Health Care Technology & Distribution industries. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at UBS as a Health Care research analyst.

Valiquette holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Finance and Accounting from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Commercial Real Estate Finance from Georgetown University.
