Over the decade, the modern medical care system and research facilities in the healthcare sector have been creating tremendous miracles. With the improvement of comprehensive medical care and treatments, the life expectancy of people has enhanced and improved. This situation has some positive aspects along with some drawbacks. However, I believe the former outweighs the latter.

With the ultra-modern and advanced medical facilities, the medical system has transformed and cured many fatal diseases, improving people’s lifespan. On the one hand, some people claim that increasing life expectancy increases the ratio of the older population. The interesting fact is that these elderly people remain active and energetic in their workplace. They even contribute to society even during their retirement age remarkably. In addition, the older people are an asset for the country as they will teach values and traditions to the younger generation, which would help the younger ones better understand the past.

On the other hand, there are several drawbacks of longer life expectancy. The predominant evidence is that not everyone can afford first-class treatment as it costs a fortune. Moreover, the need for doctors, nurses, and hospitals will increase gradually if there’s a surge in the number of older adults getting affected by diseases. Older people are more prone to infections. Consequently, resources will be scarce in the hospitals. The government will then have to support and fund the treatment costs and hospital resources, which would require a considerable sum of money.

To conclude, although enhanced life expectancy is a blessing, it is not without disadvantages. In my view, life expectancy outweighs its drawbacks as improvement in the medical care system in the country will undoubtedly decrease the death rate caused by fatal diseases. Further, I believe that people should improve their lifestyle and lead a healthy life.

One approach to live a stress-free life is to live one’s life in a robust manner. Keeping that in mind, scientists and doctors have been making a lot of effort to develop the medical sciences. Due to this combined effort, curative science has made a headlong growth that led to the prolongation of human life expectancy. While one group of people is in favour of this development, others feel that there are more drawbacks than advantages here. In this essay, both these views will be discussed so that a conclusion can prevail.

The foremost benefit of the advancement in the medical field is that every person can enjoy a wholesome life with their family and friends without the fear of ailments that can end their life at any point in time. This will make life less stressful and more fun. Secondly, the living years of the elderly population will escalate, which will aid the youth to learn from their wisdom and experience. The senior members can guide them during difficult situations, inculcate moral and social values and pass on the baton of the ancestors in safe hands. Further, the government can set examples of the diligent works of the golden-ager to inspire the younger generation and regulate the positive vibes of the country. Additionally, they can be engaged in community development activities where the needy and the orphans can develop a symbiotic relationship. Overall, every individual, irrespective of their age, can live an active and anxiety-free life.

Unfortunately, advancement does not always mean only positive events. The first issue with this evolution is that higher life expectancy may not mean a healthy life. For example, a person may live longer, but he/she may be riddled with ailments that still do not have any cure like cancer, AIDS, etc. Consequently, with the invention of arrays of medicine and disease-preventing techniques come different sets of side effects that may make the body weak and insufficient. Furthermore, it is common knowledge that natural resources are already dwindling. So, if the life expectancy increases, the population will also be boosted, resulting in more duress on the resources. It will not only affect our environment but also cause natural disasters, which will ultimately kill humans. Also, if the senior, experienced continue to work for different organizations, as they need to earn a livelihood for themselves and their family, the novice will not receive enough opportunity leading to an increase in unemployment.

In the end, it can be concluded that although life is a gift to all organisms in the universe, it is better to accept that it is more sustainable when it is balanced with its paradox, death. So, in my opinion, it is highly recommendable that medical science is advancing at a fast rate. Still, every individual should have the option to accept death gracefully to protect the environment and give equal scope to the young generation.

Governments should spend more money on medical research and less on researching the environment. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Many believe governments today should prioritise funding for medicine over environmental studies. In my opinion, learning more about the environment is one way to inform policy regarding climate change but more money should be directed towards medical research.

Those advocating for increased focus on the environment are eager to understand and counter the effects of climate change. There is arguably no greater threat facing the future of human civilisation than a degrading natural world. At the moment, billions are being poured into studies to understand how fast the polar ice caps are melting, what the impact will be, the damage to ecosystems, the interrelation between humans and these delicate ecosystems as well as the role of fossil fuels in aggravating climate change. There are wildly different theories about all these areas and some think the best utilisation of research grants is to give scientists free rein to study and collaborate in the hope of coming to a stronger consensus, which can then shape international accords and domestic policy decisions.

Despite the force of the above argument, I believe health is a more tangible and pressing concern. There is constant disagreement from climate scientists and it is unclear if increased funding would be a remedy or injury. Health research is unequivocally positive. Some of the many advances in health from the last several decades include increased understanding of mental illness, less invasive procedures for surgery, better vaccines, and countless new iterations of advanced medical equipment. These are all put into practice immediately and save or better lives in every country around the world. More money for research now would open up possibilities for new medical innovations that could involve experimentation with genetic modification and greater understanding of disease prevention.

In conclusion, making sense of climate change is important but nothing is more essential than one’s health. Governments ought to find ways to balance these competing interests but also be mindful of what most benefits their present citizenry.

Ielts writing task 2: public/private healthcare.

A recent IELTS Writing Task 2 question was about the advantages and disadvantages of private healthcare. Here are some ideas from my ebook :

State Health Systems: Advantages

• Good healthcare should be available to everyone for free.
• State healthcare is paid by the government using money from taxes.
• Everyone has access to the same quality of care and treatment.
• Private healthcare is unfair because only wealthy people can afford it.
• The National Health Service in the UK provides free healthcare for every resident. (use this as an example)

Private Healthcare: Advantages

• State hospitals are often very large and difficult to run.
• Private hospitals have shorter waiting lists for operations and appointments.
• Patients can benefit from faster treatment.
• Many people prefer to pay for a more personal service.
• Patients have their own room and more comfortable facilities.

Note: You can use the advantages of state healthcare when discussing the disadvantages of private healthcare.

i have some ideas to share about this topic: the benefits of private hospitals: 1)Faster access to treatment with nearly no waiting time.

2)Choice of when and where you want to be treated.

3)Choose your own private health care doctor or a private specialist.

4)Access treatment to fields, which are not covered by the NHS.

5)Treatment and consultation can be done quickly and at a time convenient to you.

6)Payment is either by private insurance or you can pay directly by the 'self-paying' method.

I made a small mistake. It should be "for a more" not "for more a".

Both of these are correct: - Many people prefer to pay for a more personal service. - Many people prefer to pay (more) to receive a (more) personal service.

I met the problem that i can't get enough ideas of the disadvantages of the private healthcare system. It seems that the only problem in the private healthcare is just the "money". If in the writing problem, i can't have the idea of the topic enough just like this, how can i solve the problem? The problem is not from the English but the little idea of the topic?

That's the big problem with task 2 - if you don't have good ideas, you probably won't be able to write a good essay. More planning time might help.

Health care system has become imperative in today’s world, where people are prone to health related problems. With the development of privatization, many public hospitals are privatized by owners or masters in field of medicine established their own clinics. But, there are many pros and cons associated with private healthcare. Firstly, with private healthcare you often have the option of choosing when you will be treated. For example, many private specialists will offer appointments outside normal working hours, even on weekends, so people don't have to take time off work. Countries with government controlled healthcare often have the problem of long waiting lists for doctor-depending upon the treatment is needed. Secondly, there is a greater choice and variety of specialist in private hospitals. A person who need a doctor’s advice many want to consult with a certain master that has a good reputation. Finally, private healthcare patients normally get their own room when being treated, allowing them to keep their privacy. However, there are cons that need to be weighed against pros of private healthcare. A severe downside with private healthcare is that it leaves many people uninsured. This means that people without insurance may have to pay medical bills that can reach extraordinary figures. If you are funding your private care yourself, this could get very expensive. If it’s paid through an insurance company, it may not be happy with the situation. Thus, above mentioned factors make it clear in spite of, having convenient facilities and services there are drawbacks in the private healthcare system.

Private healthcare system has some benefits and drawbacks. In this essay, I will discuss both pros and cons of having a special medical care. One of the positive points for the personal medical care is that patients have access to better and more convenient facilities. This may leads to a faster and more satisfactory treatment process. With the public health care, people normally have to be in a long waiting list and they can only visit their doctors in certain times and dates that suit their doctors. Therefore, their options are limited and it is usually determined by the doctors or hospitals. Most of the times, people have to take some hours or even days off their work in order to consult a specialist. For example, in my country, treatment in private clinics is not only much faster, but also much safer. This is due to the excellent quality of equipment used in private hospitals compare to those applied in public hospitals. A drawback of having a private healthcare is that it is expensive and many ordinary individuals can not afford it. It is not fair because only wealthy families can pay for such insurance. One of the benefits of state health care is that it is affordable for many citizens and it is a just system because the money for the public medical care is coming from the taxes paid to the government. For instance, in my country almost everybody is insured with the governmental public health. This means that all people are provide with the same quality of care and treatment. In conclusion, there are several advantages and disadvantage of possessing a special medical care. The positive aspect of it include the quicker and better cure, while the high expense is one of the main negative feature of it.

Few individual,think that private sectors is good.Whereas,Other's vocalizes that the government of the country should take the responsibilities in providing free health services for the its people.If so,will there be quality and standard health care services provided to every individual? However I strongly feel that both the government and the private health sectors should work hand in hand for the people Firstly,to discuss about the government services towards health care,I believe that there would be a gap in the quality care ,although it is easily accessible and feeable,Inspite of its highly beneficial scheme to the affordable people in the country.I often analyse that the government in my country should improve in its standard in providing health services though the availibilties of primary health sectors in every area of the state. Tver is the city where i study, foreign students at the photo exhibition “i’m here”, our history.

The history of the Tver State Medical Academy opens up in 1902 when courses for dental students were arranged. In 1936 the Leningrad Dental Institute was founded. In 1954 by decision of the Soviet government the Institute was transferred from Leningrad to the city of Kalinin.

In 1986 the Institute was awarded the prestigious Nations Friendship National Award for outstanding contribution to international education, collaboration and development. In 1994 after renaming of Kalinin to Tver, the Institute was also renamed and got the status of the Academy.

1902 – Dental School was founded in St. Petersburg by I. A. Pashutin

1919 – the Institute of Public Dentistry was founded and led by E. N. Anderson

For more than 70 years the Tver State Medical Academy has been playing a leading role in the development of medical science and training of medical practitioners and scientists. It is always among the top 10 Medical Educational Institutions according to the annual official rating of the 48 Russian Medical Educational Institutions. Today it is the largest medical scientific, research and educational centre, noted for its extensive clinical and laboratory base and a brilliant teaching staff. The Academy possesses a complex of buildings designed for practical classes, lectures, laboratory studies, research work and auxiliary services.

The Tver State Medical Academy is a public educational institution and operates under supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Development and Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

The Tver State Medical Academy is a home for 4700 students simultaneously. Every third student in the Academy is a foreign national. The Academy consists of 63 theoretical and clinical departments. It occupies 6000 beds in 10 various hospitals, including specialized hospitals for oncology, tuberculosis, infectious, skin and sexual transmitted diseases. The Academy owns dental clinic of more than 200 chairs, the clinic considers being one of the best and advanced in the country.

The Academy provides training of specialists not only for Тver and Tver Oblast but also for other regions of Russia — Tula, Bryansk, Novgorod, Pskov, Moscow, Kaluga, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Vladimir, Murmansk, Vologda, Karelia.

The Tver State Medical Academy is officially recognized by the UN agencies for health care and education. For more than 47 years (since 1962) it has been training specialists for 57 countries of the world. Today teaching in the Academy is conducted in Russian or English.

One of the main aspects of work of the Academy is its clinical activity. Clinical departments of the Academy are integrated to the structure of municipal and regional health care institutions. Main surgical, therapeutic and dental departments in Tver are headed by the Academy professors and associate professors.

GETTING TO KNOW THE TVER REGION

International Friendship Club of Tver State Medical University and teachers of the Department of Russian language organized and conducted a bus tour to the ancient Russian city of Staritsa and the City of Military Glory of Rzhev for foreign students of our university on September 21, 2022.

During the tour, the children got acquainted with significant corners of the Tver land, learned many interesting and important facts related to the history and culture of our region.

First, the students went to Rzhev, where, after tour around the city center, they visited a branch of the Victory Museum – a memorial complex in memory of all the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, erected on the site of the bloody battles near Rzhev 1942-1943. During the tour, the children heard a story about one of the most terrible pages of the Second World War, and also visited the museum pavilion with multimedia the exposition, where they looked at documentary photographs, got acquainted with letters from front–line and memories of soldiers participating in battles. Sri Lankan student Malavara Upeksha from group 424 tells about her impressions like this: “I have already seen a monument to a Soviet soldier during a concert dedicated to Victory Day, but in reality it is even more grandiose and majestic. I especially liked the birds that hold the statue of a soldier in the air. They are very symbolic.” Sandipa Himire, a student of group 225 from Nepal, says: Russian soldiers’ names were stamped on the walls of the memorial, and I was amazed. There are so many of them that you can not even read them all. Moreover, all these people died fighting for their land. It’s very impressive.”
