Verizon business phone plans: What are they and are they worth it?

If you're on the search for Verizon business phone plans, here's a look at what the carrier offers

Verizon business phone plans

When it comes to business phone plans, Verizon stands out as one of the best options around. Filled with features, backed by some excellent coverage and heavy on the discounts for added lines, there's a lot to like about what Verizon has to offer.

As with standard Verizon phone plans , the best Verizon business phone plans won't be the cheapest option. But if you're looking to stack up on lines, you could end up with some pretty affordable prices for your business.

  • Compare the best cheap cell phone plans
  • What is 5G ? The definitive guide to the 5G network rollout
  • Best prepaid phone plans

Verizon keeps things simple, offering just three cell phone plans in its business section. All three options offer unlimited data, calls and texts; the more you pay, the more features that get chucked in.

These extras include security features, mobile hotspots, more advanced 5G and priority data. Verizon also offers business phone deals and 5G internet service. In some cases, Verizon business phone plans can also get you discounts on tablets and phones when you sign up for different plans.

What Verizon business phone plans are available?

The choice in Verizon business phone plans is pretty simple: You can choose between three options, all with unlimited data — Unlimited Start, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Pro. You can stack the plans up for added discounts with the price falling by $5 per line the more you add.

Verizon Business Unlimited Start

Verizon Business Unlimited Start Verizon's cheapest business plan, the Unlimited Start offer, features unlimited calls, texts and data with 5G nationwide and 4G LTE. While you do get unlimited calls, texts and data, the plan is otherwise pretty limited. A Call Filter is included for screening potential spam), but you won't get mobile hotspot data or access to Verizon's faster Ultra Wideband 5G network.

Verizon Business Unlimited Plus

Verizon Business Unlimited Plus Jumping up in cost, the Unlimited Plus plan sits in the middle of the Verizon business phone plan offerings, blending features and affordability. You'll get the same basics as the above plan — unlimited calls, texts and data — but you'll also get 60GB of premium network access, giving you priority when there is congestion. You'll also get a unlimited mobile hotspot, access to Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband and, enhanced security features with Verizon's Business Mobile Secure .

Verizon Business Unlimited Pro

Verizon Business Unlimited Pro Finally, Verizon's most expensive business plan — the Unlimited Pro. This plan, just like the two above, includes unlimited calls, texts and data, but it brings your premium data up to 120GB. Other than that, this is almost identical to the Plus plan above with the only other difference being that you can also get 50% off Business Unlimited Pro Tablet plans.

Why choose Verizon?

Verizon business phone plans

As the biggest carrier in the U.S., Verizon has the infrastructure, speeds and connections to offer impressive wireless performance. It takes the number 2 spot in our best phone carriers guide and for good reason.

While Verizon has some pretty pricey plans, that's in part because Verizon offerings tend to be packed full of features across all of its plans, including its business options.

Through our tests, Verizon has come out on top for LTE speeds and its Ultra Wideband 5G connections reach more than 80 cities, capable of reaching 1 Gbps download speeds. Verizon's nationwide 5G network isn't that fast, but it does bring coverage to 230 million people.

Among the features included with Verizon business phone plans are Call Filters, enhanced security features and the possibility of additional plans for devices and internet service.

Which other carriers offer business plans?

While Verizon does have some of the best business plans around, it isn't the only provider catering to businesses. The other two major wireless services and many MVNOs offer business plans in some form, some focusing on affordability and others on features.

Like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile put their priority on feature-filled business plans...at a high cost. With unlimited data, add-ons and a host of features around data prioritization, these are the options if you've got a bit more budget in your business.

Alternatively, if you're looking for something more affordable, a number of MVNOs offer plans that will work well for a business. Mint Mobile for example is one of the cheapest providers in the US and while it doesn't offer specific business discounts, it will likely be the cheapest option for smaller businesses; just don't expect discounts on multiple lines like you'd find with Verizon business phone plans.

Our Verdict

Verizon Wireless’ Business Unlimited is so named because there are no limits on plans featuring talk, text and data. Companies get 5G or 4G quality data transmission (LTE) where available. Verizon provides customers with mobile hotspot data and a call filter spam blocker. In addition to phone service, customers can purchase compatible devices or switch and bring their phones and preexisting numbers.

  • Unlimited talk, text and data plans
  • Data for mobile hotspot
  • Call filter that blocks spam
  • Price discount if you sign up for autopay
  • Somewhat expensive

Verizon Wireless’ business phone service provides extensive phone service to customers nationwide thanks to the advanced quality of its 4G and 5G networks. It is one of the premier telecommunications providers in the industry, having won numerous awards, including 31 consecutive wins for network quality from J.D. Power.

In addition to calling and texting, Verizon Wireless lets you create a hotspot using high-speed data, ensuring you and others can connect to the internet even with poor Wi-Fi.

Despite Verizon’s widespread popularity and reliability, its business phone system will not be the best fit for every company.

Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited Is Best For:

  • Strictly voice communication: Unlike many VoIP services providing voice, chat, video conferencing and internet fax capabilities as part of an all-in-one platform, Verizon Wireless’ business phone system is best suited for those who anticipate only needing reliable calling and texting capabilities.
  • Reliable phone service: Because Verizon has such a wide range of coverage across North America, it is ideal for ensuring you are always reachable and that you can easily make and receive calls.
  • Mobile hotspots: The ability to turn your phone into a hotspot ensures that you and others can remain online during a Wi-Fi outage.
  • Avoiding spam calls: Thanks to the call filtering feature, you can better conduct business and answer important calls without worrying about constant spam or robocalls and scam attempts.

Verizon Wireless’ mobile hotspot is a welcome feature for those who want to ensure constant internet connection for other devices or their co-workers. Still, at a time when rival communication services routinely offer multiple streams of collaboration at far lower prices, it may appear somewhat limiting by comparison.

Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited Is Not Recommended For:

  • Those operating on a tight budget: Though you could get a discount when you add so many lines, a single line costs $70 per month; it gets discounted to $65 per month with autopay. As such, it can be an expensive option for sole proprietors or small businesses compared to other communication services.
  • Individuals or small teams: Though service is available starting with a single line, discounts begin once you purchase at least two lines. At this point, the pricing makes it such that a small company should seek a more cost-friendly alternative.
  • All-in-One or UCaaS-like service: Some companies want to make calls, host video conferences or collaborate in chat, all through the same service provider. While Verizon is reliable for calling and texting, it is limited compared to services such as RingCentral or Zoom , which offer multiple communication streams.

If you are a business solely searching for excellent call, text and data support, then Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited may be an ideal solution for you. Should you need more than voice and text, it is best to consider other service options.

Verizon’s award-winning reliability is perhaps one primary reason so many customers rely on and remain with the service. Its 5G LTE ensures high-quality calls are made and received with ease, and even where 5G is not available, its 4G LTE network means that you should hardly ever find yourself dealing with poor quality or dropped calls.

Unfortunately, another factor setting Verizon apart is that its plans are among the most expensive, and that may often be due to the virtual monopoly it enjoys in some locations. If you want the ability to make calls through a professional business phone system, there are far more affordable options available. With a VoIP service provider , you may not pay as much or be impacted by a potential lack of competing telecommunication service providers.

There are a few significant features that customers should consider before signing up with a business phone service provider. These items are often the deciding factor in whether your investment will represent good value for your purchase.

Verizon Wireless offers devices that are compatible with its service. This includes a range of smartphones, tablets, laptops and hotspot hardware, all of which may be purchased directly through the website. You also have the option of signing up for Tablet Start and Tablet Pro for plan options that combine Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited with a device of your choice.

International Calling

Much of Verizon Wireless’ service is concentrated in North America—specifically, the continental United States. However, it is still possible to make or receive calls through your Verizon service, even when traveling internationally, but you may incur additional fees or run into limitations while abroad. One way to avoid this issue is to use TravelPass when out of the country.

The TravelPass costs $10 per line per day as an add-on service, or you can get it as part of either the Business Unlimited Plus or Business Unlimited Pro plans. When included with your service plans, you receive between two and four days worth of unlimited calling and text. You also get 2GB of high-speed data, which converts to lower-speed data after you exceed the allotment.

TravelPass is available in over 210 countries, though your device must be 4G or 5G capable. If unused, your TravelPass days will not roll over to the next month.

When you sign up for either Business Unlimited Plus or Pro, you get access to advanced security tools. Plan perks include anti-phishing support, Wi-Fi network protections, management and controls across multiple devices and dedicated chat-based personnel. Please note this feature usually costs an additional $5 per month, but the cost may be offset by a $5 credit with a qualifying plan. The added security is a necessity for many companies desiring data protection.

There are additional security features that may be purchased separately. For instance, Verizon Cypher protects calls made on commercial smartphones, even when making calls across differing phone networks. Contact Verizon’s sales team for a complete list of premium security add-ons available to businesses.

Third-Party Integrations

Because of the nature of this service, it is not designed for integrations with popular apps, such as Salesforce , Slack or HubSpot . This is something you are more likely to get with a unified communications as a service (UCaaS) provider ; if you want a more robust collaboration and calling experience paired with third-party integrations, there are better choices than Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless is often an easy service to use, with the ability to activate your phone relatively quickly. The only thing to be mindful of is if you attempt to sign up for service with an older flip phone or another device that is not up to date. In that case, you would likely need help from customer support, as it may be too challenging to get the equipment to work on your own.

Verizon Wireless offers extremely high-definition audio quality, which has only improved with its 5G LTE availability. From our expert’s experience, calls made or received tend to have sharp, clear audio; we could hear the caller easily and be heard and understood. There were no odd sounds or echoes.

Business Unlimited Start

Verizon’s standard Business Unlimited plan supports talk, text and data for customers across the United States. Unlimited calling and text messaging are available in both Mexico and Canada. Please note that if the percentage is greater than 50% each month, services in those countries could either get removed or limited.

Customers also get 5GB of 5G or 4G LTE mobile hotspot data; if you exceed your monthly allotment, data quality drops to lower speeds (600 Kbps) for the remainder of the month. This plan provides a call filter option to help you cut back on spam calls. As for video streaming quality, Business Unlimited Start supports 480p high definition, which is remarkably lower than the quality available at higher service tiers.

If you need a good quality calling plan for reliable service throughout North America, Unlimited Start does work. However, it is notably limited compared to other pricing plans and, for the cost, needs to represent better value for the money. You could increase your per-line savings substantially by getting at least five lines and utilizing autopay; if you are willing, you are better off upgrading and getting additional features.

Business Unlimited Plus

The Unlimited Plus plan has everything in Start while adding a few key features. For instance, you get 5G Ultra Wideband, which provides the fastest possible network experience, though you must have a device capable of 5G. You also get 100GB of premium network access per month and 100GB of premium hotspot data.

Additionally, this tier adds Call Filter Plus, which improves on standard call filtering by including a caller ID feature, spam look-up risk meter and a personal block feature that removes callers by category. This plan has a monthly TravelPass, giving users two days per month of international calling and texting with 2GB of data. Customers also see their streaming quality increase to 4K HD and enjoy enhanced security through Business Mobile Secure.

Altogether, Business Unlimited Plus offers a better range of service features that make it a much better value for money than Start and probably the better investment, especially after applying various plan discounts to bring down the overall cost.

Business Unlimited Pro

Verizon’s Business Unlimited Pro plan improves on Start and Plus by providing unlimited premium network access all month long and 200GB of mobile hotspot data. TravelPass is increased to the equivalent of four days per month, and customers get 50% off on the Pro Tablet plan. Though this highest tier has the most going for it, its price per line might not make it worth the investment compared to the Plus plan.

When we reached out to customer support with questions, we were able to connect with a member of the team without too long of a wait. The agent who answered our call was professional, helpful and able to guide us through activating our service and ensuring that everything was in working order.

Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited vs. Grasshopper

Verizon’s business phone service relies on a more traditional telecommunications system to ensure high-quality calling and texting. At the same time, Grasshopper is a virtual phone system that operates using an existing phone service. Verizon customers can rely on up to 5G LTE for data, making it possible to use the internet without a traditional connection. As Grasshopper is a virtual service needing an existing phone line, you must add it to a current phone service.

If you went with a more affordable phone service provider than Verizon, it might be possible to pay as little as $14 per month. In such a case, you not only get calling and texting capabilities but also enjoy additional features, such as a professional number and phone system, internet faxing, custom greetings and instant response. Grasshopper is the better choice, as it comes with more business phone system features.

Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited vs. Vonage

Regarding pricing and features, Verizon and Vonage are each ideal for medium to enterprise-level companies. That said, at $13.99 per month, Vonage has a far lower starting cost than Verizon’s Business Unlimited plan, even with Verizon’s potential discounts.

The Business Unlimited plan could work for businesses mainly operating in the U.S. with some occasional need for international calling. Vonage has better international calling support while having other collaboration-friendly features, such as video conferencing, internet faxing and voice mail to email. Moreover, Vonage has popular third-party integrations that allow your business to do more than send and receive calls or texts.

Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited provides a high-quality voice and internet experience. Still, for larger companies that need more communication, especially for team engagement and learning, Vonage will offer more features, making it the ideal choice.

Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited vs. Zoom Phone

Between the two, Verizon Wireless offers better-quality audio during calls; that said, Zoom provides the ability to make audio and video calls, which opens up collaboration potential considerably, especially when you need to share documents and other visual data with clients or team members.

Zoom Phone only provides unlimited domestic calling once you upgrade to the highest tier. Even in doing so, you will pay less for service than Verizon Wireless’ most affordable plan. Still, Verizon does offer unlimited calling, texting and data from its lowest tier. If you want a few additional features, such as video conferencing and call monitoring and more affordable pricing, Zoom Phone is the better option.

Verizon Wireless phones and services are very reliable, and we were able to make and receive calls and text messages easily to people located across the country. Even when calling internationally, we found few issues when using the service.

verizon business plan prices

That said, while Verizon Wireless Business Unlimited represents reliable traditional phone communication, businesses should strongly consider value for money and the availability of more comprehensive collaboration tools. For instance, some competing service providers provide video conferencing and voice and text messaging. One can collaborate in chat rooms in real time and share screens and files.

While Verizon Wireless works as a straightforward phone solution, if your company needs a wide range of channels for communication and collaboration, consider an alternative service that can give you more ways to stay in touch with customers and peers alike.

Does Verizon have business lines?

Yes, with the Business Unlimited plan, you pay a starting price $65 per month for one line (if you sign up for autopay). If you get five or more lines, the price drops to $30 monthly for each line.

Is Verizon Business the same as Verizon?

Verizon Business is targeted at professionals and companies needing phone service, while Verizon is the overall company with plans for business and non-business customers.

Does Verizon give small business discounts?

While we did not find discounts for small businesses specifically, Verizon does offer discounts to qualifying customers, including deals specifically for veterans.

Who qualifies for Verizon Business?

Verizon Business is aimed primarily at small to large businesses.

Breaking Down Verizon Business Internet: Which Option Works Best for You?

With the increasing importance of establishing an online presence, having fast and reliable internet has become crucial for businesses to remain competitive. In fact, according to a recent survey by ooma.com , almost 95% of businesses require speeds higher than 25 Mbps, with 85% believing 50 Mbps or higher would be the best fit for their primary location. However, more than 2 million U.S. business locations still subscribe to broadband services that deliver downstream internet speeds less than 50 Mbps.

The effects of substandard internet on businesses can be staggering. If productivity drops by just 5%, U.S. small businesses would incur productivity costs exceeding $80 billion. Shockingly, 70% of these SMBs that use DSL as their primary form of internet connectivity do not have services exceeding 50 Mbps.

Given the significant impact that slow internet can have on a business's productivity and growth potential, it's critical to choose a reliable and fast internet service provider that meets your business's unique needs.

In this article, we will focus on Verizon's Business Internet plans, which have been designed to cater to the specific requirements of businesses of all sizes. By providing comprehensive information on Verizon's plans, pricing, contracts, and data cap policies, we aim to help businesses determine if Verizon's Business Internet is the right solution for their particular needs.

What is Verizon Business Internet?

Verizon Business Internet is a high-speed internet service designed specifically to meet the demands of businesses that need to transfer large files, host e-commerce websites, utilize cloud-based applications, support multiple users, and engage in video conferencing, among other data-intensive operations.

With its extensive coverage across many locations throughout the United States, Verizon Business Internet ensures accessible services with plenty of operational redundancy. In addition, the company offers a range of internet plans to accommodate small and medium-sized businesses, as well as large enterprises.

Available Plans and Pricing

Recognizing that businesses have unique internet requirements that vary based on factors such as size, industry, and operations, Verizon Business Internet created different options to cater to these diverse needs-offering three different internet options, each with its own set of speeds and plans to choose from. This allows businesses to select a customized plan that meets their specific needs, resulting in increased operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Verizon 5G Business Internet

Verizon 5G Business Internet offers ultra-fast internet speeds and low latency, making it ideal for businesses that require high-bandwidth applications, such as video conferencing and data-heavy cloud computing.  Verizon 5G Business Internet is available in 38 states covered by Verizon 5G networks.

Packages Offered

Verizon 5g business internet 100.

  • Speed: 100Mbps
  • Price: $69 per month

Verizon 5G Business Internet 200

  • Speed: 200Mbps
  • Price: $99 per month

Verizon 5G Business Internet 400

All three Verizon 5G Business Internet plans provide fast and reliable speeds. Each one comes with an ultra-simple connection process, businesses can choose either professional installation or easy self-setup options to get started.

For those who want to lock in prices for the long term, select customers can take advantage of the 10-year price guarantee without signing a long-term contract . Meanwhile, all plans come with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee that allows businesses to cancel within 30 days of installation and receive a full refund.

It is important to note that the 5G Business Internet service requires equipment . Verizon offers professional installation, a plug-and-play (self-setup) option, or customers may bring their own 5G compatible device, all of which are dependent on availability in select markets and speed tiers. All installation options through Verizon will be simple, and the company will keep businesses informed throughout the process.

Cost Saving Options

Bundling with smartphone plans.

When businesses bundle Verizon's 5G Business Internet with a Business Unlimited smartphone plan, they can save up to $80 per month. To take advantage of this offer, businesses must sign up for a qualifying 5G Business Internet plan and a qualifying Business Unlimited plan.

Eligible smartphones must be purchased via device payment or brought your own. Existing customers are eligible with qualifying upgrades. The $80 per month discount is available for 5G Business Internet (400 Mbps) and Business Unlimited Pro plan (at least 1 line is required), while all other combinations of service plans are eligible for a $40 per month discount.

Online Only Offers

New customers who sign up for 200Mbps or 400Mbps speed tiers of 5G Business Internet online can receive a one-time discount of $99 or $199 , respectively. This offer is available online only and will be fulfilled as a bill credit to the Verizon account within 1-2 billing cycles. Businesses should note that this offer may not be combined with all offers and is available for a limited time only.

Contract Buyout

Businesses that switch to Verizon's 5G Business Internet can receive up to a $1,500 credit to help cover early termination fees (ETF) from their current provider. To redeem this offer, businesses must email documentation of the ETF from their prior service provider within 30 days of receiving the final bill . The offer is fulfilled via a bill credit to the Verizon account in the amount of the billed ETF up to $1,500.

The credit will be issued after 60 days of service and will appear on the Verizon bill within 1-2 billing cycles thereafter. Businesses should note that they remain solely responsible for paying the ETF to their prior service provider. Additionally, this offer may not be combined with all offers and is available for a limited time only.

Verizon Fios Business Internet

Verizon offers a contract buyout option for new Fios Business Internet customers to help cover early termination fees from their current provider. To redeem the offer, customers must email documentation of the early termination fee from their prior service provider within 30 days of receipt of the final bill . Free Visa Prepaid Cards

For businesses considering the 500 or 940 Fios Business Internet plans, switching has its perks. With the 500 plan, businesses can get a $300 Visa Prepaid card when they switch. Meanwhile, those who choose the 940 plan can receive a $500 Visa Prepaid card.

Free Verizon Cloud Storage

For select Fios Business Internet plans, Verizon is offering 2TB of Verizon Cloud for free for the first 3 months. This option is available for the 500 and 940 plans. The Verizon Cloud allows businesses to store, access, and share files across multiple devices, and it can be a valuable tool for businesses that need to access their files remotely. After the initial 3-month period, businesses can choose to continue using Verizon Cloud for an additional cost, or they can opt out and find another cloud storage solution .

Price Guarantees

Verizon Fios Business Internet plans offer a price-guarantee duration based on the chosen plan, ranging from 1 to 3 years. This means that the monthly rate for the chosen plan will remain fixed for the duration of the guarantee period, regardless of any price changes that may occur during that time. This provides businesses with predictability and stability in their monthly expenses for internet services.

It's important to note that the price guarantee applies to the internet service only, and not to any additional services or equipment that may be purchased. After the guarantee period ends, the price may be subject to change, but customers will be notified in advance of any price changes.

Verizon LTE Business Internet

The Verizon LTE Business Internet is a wireless service that is designed to provide businesses with flexibility and mobility, which is perfect for those who need internet access in remote locations where a wired internet service may not be available or feasible. This is available across 50 states covered by Verizon 4G LTE networks.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Which Plan is Best for You

Number of users and bandwidth requirements.

To select an internet plan with the appropriate bandwidth , it is essential for businesses to determine the number of employees who will be using the internet. This is because the speed and performance of the internet connection can be impacted by the number of devices and users. As the number of users and devices increase, so do the internet requirements .

For instance, a business with 1-2 users/devices that only require online browsing, email, and research would need a minimum speed of 5 Mbps. On the other hand, a business with 30 or more users/devices that require extreme speed operations with zero interruptions would need a speed of 1,000 Mbps or 1 Gbps.

Nature of Business

When selecting the appropriate internet plan for your business, it is important to take into account the unique nature of your operations . This involves assessing the size and structure of your organization, as well as identifying the online activities that your employees perform regularly.

If your business requires an ultra-fast and reliable fiber-optic network, Fios Business Internet is an excellent option for you. With high speeds and 99.99% reliability, you can work efficiently with high bandwidth. Plus, professional onsite installation and 24/7 business-class support are included for your convenience.

For businesses looking for a fast and guaranteed connection, 5G Business Internet is the right choice. With unlimited data and fast download speeds, you can work efficiently and keep work flowing with low latency.

For businesses that require wireless connectivity and flexibility, LTE Business Internet is a great option. It is easy to set up and perfect for businesses on the move, such as food trucks, construction sites, and pop-up stores. It also offers resilience and the ability to segment critical data.

Business Location

The location of a business greatly affects its internet connection, as some areas may have better internet infrastructure and coverage than others. This is because internet service providers may not have invested in building the necessary infrastructure in rural areas. In some cases, you may be left with few options that may bring up the need to prioritize the reliability of the connection over the speed, while in other cases, speed may be a crucial factor.

Fine Prints: Contracts and Data Caps

While Verizon's plans offer great flexibility, each plan may have distinct limitations. To help you make an informed decision, allocate the necessary time to meticulously review the policies that apply to each plan, taking into account all variables thereby avoiding incurring extra charges.

Discounts Locked Behind Contracts

Verizon offers no annual contracts and early termination fees for their internet packages. However, in order to take advantage of lower monthly costs and other promos, signing a contract with them for usually 2 years is required. While this offers flexibility for businesses to choose how long they want to stay with Verizon, it also means that some discounts and benefits are locked behind contracts .

It is important to note that there are also early termination fees for a 2-year contract, which is 35% of base monthly charges for unexpired terms. Additionally, the 2-year term automatically renews at then-current term rates unless canceled within 30 days prior to or 60 days after the term is renewed.

LTE Business Data Caps

Verizon is known for its generous data policies, which offer no data caps or overage fees for its business plans except for its LTE Business plans. These plans have specific data allowances and Premium Network Access based on the chosen plan. However, it is important to note that once a business exceeds their data allowance, blocks of 5GB will be automatically added to their account for an additional charge of $10 per block, plus taxes .

The Bottom Line: Is Verizon Business Internet Right For You?

Verizon offers dynamic business internet options for businesses of all sizes, providing reliable connectivity through its different plans. With Fios Business Internet, 5G Business Internet, and LTE Business Internet plans, businesses can choose the right package that suits their specific needs.

For businesses that require a stable and dependable internet connection, Verizon's Fios Business Internet is the optimal choice, offering an unmatched reliability rating of 99.99%. This makes it a great option for companies that depend heavily on online communications, such as video conferencing and cloud computing. Alternatively, businesses that place greater importance on flexibility and mobility will find either Verizon's 5G or LTE Business Internet plans a cost-effective solution, allowing employees to access reliable internet on the go or in remote locations

In addition, Verizon provides businesses with 24/7 support, a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, and options for contract buyout and price guarantee . Nevertheless, it's important to take into account the data caps and early termination fees that may be associated with certain plans before deciding on the best fit for your business.

When choosing a business internet provider, it's essential to take into account all the factors we've discussed. Take the time to research and compare different plans and pricing options to find the right fit for your business. Do I have to be present for installation?

Yes, for most business internet plans, Verizon requires that someone be present during installation. This is to ensure that the installation process is completed successfully and any potential issues can be addressed immediately.

Can I use my own router?

Yes, you can use your own router with Verizon's Fios Business Internet plans. However, for their 5G and LTE Business Internet plans, Verizon provides a high-quality wireless router as part of the package.

What’s the main differences between Verizon 5G, Fios, and LTE?

Verizon's 5G Business Internet plan utilizes the latest 5G technology and provides fast download speeds and unlimited data. It is ideal for businesses that require high-speed internet access on the go or in remote locations. On the other hand, Verizon's Fios Business Internet plan utilizes fiber-optic technology, which offers fast internet speeds and high reliability. It is ideal for businesses that require a stable and dependable internet connection. Finally, Verizon's LTE Business Internet plan provides wireless connectivity and mobility, making it ideal for businesses that need internet access in remote or temporary locations.

What is the biggest disadvantage of 5G?

One of the biggest disadvantages of 5G is that it has limited coverage areas, particularly in rural areas. As it is a new technology, it may take some time for it to become widely available. Additionally, the cost of implementing 5G infrastructure is still relatively high compared to existing technologies, which may limit its availability to some businesses.

Do I have to purchase a phone plan with my 5G Business Internet plan?

No, purchasing a phone plan is not a requirement for Verizon's 5G Business Internet plan. However, they do offer phone plans that can be bundled with their internet plans for added convenience and cost savings. You can contact Verizon to discuss any specific needs or questions you may have about their phone plans.

Our Verizon Business Internet review

' src=

Verizon offers a diverse set of business internet plans with four very different service options: Fios (fiber), 5G, LTE, and a premium enterprise called Internet Dedicated. Because pricing is fairly static across Verizon’s various type of business internet, accessibility will likely determine which you should choose. While we think Verizon is one the best internet service providers (ISPs) in the nation, some of its business services are certainly better than others. Fios is by far our favorite; it provides more speed and a top-notch connection for the same price as Verizon’s other business services.

Which of Verizon’s several business internet services is best for your business will  depend on what’s available in your area. Without a significant difference in pricing, the Fios plans offer the most value and the highest-quality service. However, 5G and LTE may be solid picks for locations outside of Verizon’s fiber footprint.

Key Features:

  • Fastest speeds
  • Most reliable
  • Symmetrical bandwidth (faster upload speeds)
  • Unlimited data

Verizon Fios is a fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) service, which delivers symmetrical multi-gigabit speeds via high-bandwidth fiber-optic cables. Symmetrical speeds mean you get equally fast download and upload speeds which are important for applications like video conferencing and large file transfers. As for reliability, Fios is as good as it gets. Even among other fiber ISPs, Verizon stands out with the top reliability ratings from customers two years in a row. Fios’ main drawback is its lack of availability: It’s mostly limited to the East Coast.

Fios is the best choice (if you have access to it). It deals out faster download and upload speeds and is more reliable than Verizon’s 5G or LTE. That isn’t to say those services won’t suffice, but Fios rests on one of the most impressive and well-maintained internet networks in the country. There’s not much that compares.

Verizon now offers business internet through its renowned cellular network, which has been considered the best in the U.S. for over two decades. According to the FCC, Verizon 5G Business Internet reaches most of the U.S., so if you can’t get Fios, this is a great option.

5G internet’s main strengths are simplicity and convenience. Because the service runs over cellular networks, self-installations are quick and easy. The service has quickly become a customer favorite, having received excellent feedback across the board, earning several top scores in our most recent customer satisfaction survey .

Verizon’s LTE internet service is a good pick for businesses in more rural areas or locations without cable, fiber, or 5G internet. For areas with few connectivity options, LTE services can be a game-changer and even open up new areas for expansion that were previously off limits due to no or poor internet access.

But, in no circumstance do we recommend this service above any fiber, cable, or 5G internet service. Verizon’s LTE is similarly priced to its other offerings with substantially slower speeds, a limiting 300GB data cap, and throttled speeds after your first 50GB. This is not a service for companies that rely on high-bandwidth connectivity. But if you just need to send and receive emails, process payments, and access the web, Verizon’s LTE can get you there.

Internet Dedicated is a premium business internet service for organizations that critically depend on their connectivity. Verizon provides dedicated symmetrical bandwidth, guaranteeing a certain level performance 24/7. When other companies are suffering from typical network congestion, Internet Dedicated customers circumvent the issue using its direct, guaranteed bandwidth.

This is heavy-duty corporate internet service, suitable for organizations with multiple data centers and complex connectivity needs. These services are highly variable and customizable, so you’ll need to discuss your needs with a Verizon representative in order to get a rate quote.

Plan details vary considerably from one plan to the next. Verizon’s 5G business plans are the most generous. The LTE plans have the strictest policies. The Fios fiber plans fall somewhere in between.

All Fios and 5G business plans come with unlimited data. But Verizon’s LTE Business plans have monthly data caps as low as 300GB; that’s another reason why the LTE plans are only suitable for businesses with modest connectivity needs.

Installation

Verizon Fios will likely require a professional installation, which is common for fiber internet. The 5G and LTE fixed wireless service usually only require a quick and easy self-installation, except for the 400Mbps 5G Business Internet plan, which requires a professional install. With all services, additional charges for inside wiring and more complex installations may apply.

Bundling your Verizon Business internet with a business mobile plan may come with substantial savings. If you combine any of Verizon’s wireless business internet services (5G or LTE) with a Verizon Business Unlimited mobile line, you save $30 per month for every internet line attached to the account (up to six lines). This offer is currently limited to Verizon 5G and LTE business internet.

Verdict: Which Verizon Business Internet service is best?

Normally this is the part where we say you should match your needs with the right plan, but, if you have access to Verizon Fios, there’s little reason to go with anything else. You get more speed for the same price, plus the peace of mind of being on what’s arguably the most reliable major internet network in the nation.

If you don’t have access to Verizon Fios, Verizon 5G Business Internet should suffice for most use cases. 5G internet is still young, but in the last few years, we’ve received exceedingly positive feedback from 5G customers. Latency and speed don’t seem to be an issue, and the convenience of a completely wireless service is second to none.

Verizon’s LTE business is great for connecting business in low connectivity areas without many other options. But given the prices, data caps, and slower speeds, LTE won’t work for everyone. It’s far too limited for a busy office, but shops and service stations in remote areas may find just what they need with Verizon LTE.

FAQ about Verizon Business internet

Where is verizon fios business internet available.

According to the latest FCC data, Verizon Fios Business Internet availability is mostly limited to the East Coast with service in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, Delaware, and a very small coverage area in Mississippi. FCC data is usually at least six months behind current coverage, so certain coverage areas may not be represented with 100% accuracy.

Is Verizon Fios better than Verizon 5G Internet?

Yes, Verizon Fios is a superior service to Verizon 5G. Fios speeds are not only faster but also symmetrical, meaning your upload speeds are much faster than they would be on Verizon 5G. Fiber networks are also more reliable and have lower latency for time-sensitive applications like video calls. The final nail in the 5G coffin is the pricing; 5G doesn’t come with a reduction in price—you actually pay more per megabyte of speed.

Verizon High-Speed Internet Editor's Rating:

Why we chose verizon for wireless internet service.

Wireless internet is more powerful than ever before, and Verizon stands out from its competitors with its 5G Business Internet and LTE Business Internet services. We were impressed with Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband product, which uses high-band, ultrawide wave spectrum 5G to deliver internet speeds of up to 400Mbps. This wireless solution provides an online experience with low lag time so businesses can enjoy high-quality video conferencing capabilities or seamless point-of-sale (POS) system operations with unlimited data. The LTE Business Internet service features plans with speeds up to 50Mbps and 150GB Premium Network Access. This offering is matched closely by AT&T for small businesses, those on the go, temporary sites and home offices. Overall, however, Verizon is the better option for your wireless internet service needs.

We like that Verizon provides its customers with fixed wireless access technology using radio frequencies instead of cables to enable high-speed connections where fiber-optic connections are not as strong or convenient. The 5G network Verizon uses was rolled out less than a decade after its predecessor, 4G and began transforming businesses by enabling technology like connected cars and smart factories. Verizon 5G powered the most immersive Super Bowl Halftime mobile experience to date, demonstrating the network has the capability to provide quality wireless service to businesses of many scales.

As one of the larger telecommunications companies, Verizon offers a broad range of business-focused connectivity tools. While the company’s 5G Business Internet shines the brightest, there are other reasons to consider Verizon for your connectivity needs.

Customization

Verizon has a variety of solutions for internet access, which gives business owners the flexibility to choose the type of internet service , speed capacity, data provisions and add-ons that make the most sense for their unique needs. You can choose between the Fios plan, which utilizes a fiber network that works faster than traditional copper cables, the 5G plan, a scalable 5G Ultra Wideband solution for wireless connection and the LTE plan, which is designed for small businesses, mobile sites and backup services. Those who need more than just the internet can opt for add-ons like phone, video conferencing and television services. With all of these customization options, you can find the precise solution you need from one provider, although doing so may seem daunting at first. Verizon offers its business internet customers sensible add-ons to their internet plans, like video conferencing, digital or voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) phone service and TV for businesses. These solutions are designed specifically for improving business operations. For example, Business Digital Voice is Verizon’s VoIP calling service that allows users to stream calls over a secure, cloud-based IP network for seamless transfers of calls between offices and mobile phones. This product includes more than 30 features that enhance communication and unlimited long-distance calling to anywhere in the U.S. Meanwhile, BlueJeans by Verizon is a video conferencing platform available with the Fios and LTE plans with smart audio, up to 150 participants allowed and a Slack integration. We also appreciate that Fios TV for Business is powered by the same fiber-optic technology as Fios Internet and includes up to 325 channels. [A key aspect of video conferencing etiquette is having reliable software, such as Verizon’s BlueJeans platform.]

Verizon offers powerful wireless internet services with 5G Ultra Wideband, which provides the fastest wireless speeds on the market and allows you to connect to the internet wherever your business takes you. Verizon’s wireless solutions offer video conferencing from a phone or tablet in almost real time, streaming speeds with nearly no lag time and efficient POS interactions from mobile devices. We like that in many locations, businesses can easily set up their internet without waiting for professional installation. The 5G Business Internet plan provides businesses with unlimited data and speeds up to 400Mbps. Verizon also offers an array of 5G-enabled mobile devices to help teams operate smoothly.

Because Verizon offers such a wide array of plans, the pricing can be challenging to understand at first. However, Verizon provides straightforward plan descriptions and cost information to help make the best option for your business clear. There are three plan types, each with varying price tiers: Fios Business internet, 5G Business Internet and LTE Business Internet:

  • Fios Business Internet: The Fios plans include glass fiber-optic cable internet connections with professional installation and unlimited data. Plans start at $69 per month with speeds up to 200Mbps, a one-year price guarantee and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The highest tier facilitates a high-capacity connection with a three-year price guarantee for $249 per month. There is a $49 activation fee for any plan under 500Mbps, but you may be able to have this waived during a promotion.
  • 5G Business Internet: The 5G plans are a scalable wireless connectivity solution with fixed wireless internet access. Powered by 5G Ultra Wideband, this service can provide fast connections for any size business. All plans include unlimited data, and the lowest tier provides speeds up to 100Mbps for $69 per month. The most expensive 5G plan gives users speeds up to 400Mbps for $199 per month.
  • LTE Business Internet: The LTE plans, designed for small businesses, mobile sites and as a backup service, allow customers to set up their service without professional installation and connect on the go. For $69 per month, you can receive 25GB Premium Network Access and reach speeds up to 10Mbps. The highest tier lets users engage more seamlessly in video conferences and share large files more easily. It offers speeds up to 50Mbps and 150GB Premium Network Access for $199 per month. All LTE plans include 300GB of monthly data allowance.

Verizon also sells add-ons like its BlueJeans video conferencing system for $12.49 per month and Business Digital Voice for $35 per month. Like its peers, Verizon has bundle options with internet and phone service to help customers with cost savings. Plus, a $100 credit for new customers, a paper-free billing deduction and an $85 Business Digital Voice discount help make Verizon’s internet service more affordable.

Implementation

Whether your business is a candidate for self-installation or requires a professional implementation, you’ll have access to Verizon’s My Business web platform and mobile app to assist with the activation of services and devices. Generally, all installations are completed within a week of your purchase. In the “View Orders” page of My Business, Verizon customers can track all equipment purchases and service orders. When you purchase Verizon Business Internet, you’ll receive an email when the service is ready for implementation or you can view the status online. Self-installation is easy with a router and simple account activation steps are detailed online.

While Verizon’s wireless options frequently allow for self-installation, the Fios Internet plan is a multistep process involving professional assistance. A typical installation takes four to six hours, and a Verizon worker must install the cables in the ground, connect the cables to a telephone pole and install above-ground equipment. The Verizon technician will run data to your router connecting your computers to the internet and guide you through the installation to ensure stable connections. For an additional fee, the technician can also configure your computers. [Find out how to set up business Wi-Fi .]

Customer Support

Verizon Business Internet customers receive business-class customer service around the clock. You can access assistance via phone 24/7 and web chat to troubleshoot issues quickly. On the My Verizon Business app, customers can chat instantly with a customer support representative and receive answers to questions about billing and payments, account management, orders and more.

Each service provided by Verizon Business is featured on online help pages for easily accessible self-guided support. There are written directions and video onboarding resources for everything from changing a router password and getting security tips to troubleshooting connections and adding new devices to the network.

Beyond technical help, we like that Verizon also provides educational resources and new insights on business technology on its website. You can even browse case studies and sign up for webinars.

Verizon speed test

Limitations

While Verizon is a powerful, scalable and versatile internet provider, it is also expensive. The company offers an array of incentives and assistance with up to $1,500 in termination fees from your current provider, but its discounts and bundle deals only apply in select scenarios. To get the speed, unlimited data and reliability Verizon is known for, customers must pay higher rates for its higher-tiered plans. That could be cost-prohibitive for small businesses on tight budgets.

Verizon is a popular choice for businesses because of its fast 5G network, but its reach has geographical limitations. Not all of Verizon’s services are available within its operating territories and businesses in particularly rural environments may not be able to access the high speeds they expect. In various rural locations across the country, the Verizon 5G service can’t connect because there isn’t a direct line of sight between the location and the 5G cell site. In that case, you may be logistically unable to use Verizon’s internet service.

Methodology

During our search for the best business internet service providers , we evaluated vendors on the basis of their product offerings, pricing, setup process, customer support quality, drawbacks and other factors. Whenever possible, we spoke with company representatives and received demonstrations of various features and tools, keeping in mind the services businesses need based on their size, location, mobility and internet use. We identified Verizon as the ideal solution for business owners seeking wireless internet service because the provider’s 5G Business Internet and LTE Business Internet are fast, reliable options that can meet a variety of business needs.

Is Verizon’s business internet unlimited?

Is verizon business better than residential internet, how much is 5g wireless internet for business, bottom line.

We recommend Verizon Business Internet for:

  • Business owners looking for the fastest wireless business internet available.
  • Companies that want to bundle many connectivity services and save on cost.
  • Businesses interested in potential long-term wireless internet price guarantees.

We don’t recommend Verizon Business Internet for:

  • Rural businesses that may not be in the direct line of a Verizon cell tower for a 5G connection.
  • Companies that need more than 850Mbps upload speeds.
  • Business owners seeking the lowest-cost fiber internet plan.

Bottom line: If your small or medium-sized business needs the fastest and most reliable internet, Verizon Fios is an excellent pick. You can expect high speeds, very little downtime, and superior customer service that’ll keep your business running smoothly online.

Verizon’s fastest option is its Fios Gigabit Connection plan that boasts top speeds of 940 Mbps download and up to 880 Mbps upload. At those speeds, you and dozens of employees can zip through the web, conduct HD video conferences and VoIP calls, and upload massive files to the Cloud interruption-free.

The fastest Verizon DSL plan tops out at 15 Mbps, which isn’t that impressive—especially for $69 a month. But if you think that’s the plan for you, you can still connect a few employees and operate your business online.

What you should know about Verizon business internet

When comparing Verizon to other business internet service providers, Verizon stands out in several ways.

We praised Verizon for its lightning-fast fiber-optic speeds and uptime guarantee. These are factors that business owners should consider if they want to expand the number of users on their networks without sacrificing reliability.

Another pro for the company is its reputation for providing superior customer service to its business customers. Other internet providers— Comcast Business , for example—are known for the opposite .

But Verizon isn’t perfect. Verizon's fiber-optic network stretches across only a few dozen zip codes in the northeastern United States. Compared to Comcast internet, that's a much smaller footprint.

Moreover, you may pay more for Verizon business internet than you would to another provider for the same speeds. Plus, Verizon’s DSL plans are much slower than the competition, which Verizon’s higher prices don’t make up for. Finally, we uncovered some troubling complaints about latency, which we explain a bit later.

Verizon business internet plans, pricing and speed

Below, we've put each Verizon business plan side-by-side so you can compare them by price and speed. Verizon Fios (fiber) plans are the standouts, but we’ll take a look at each DSL plan too.

Verizon’s bread and butter are its Fios-branded plans. These connections, delivered via fiber-optic cables, offer some of the fastest internet around. The Gig Connection plans are the prime offering.

The shining feature of Verizon Fios for small business is that the plans come with identical maximum upload and download speeds. These connections are often called “symmetric,” and they are great if you need to send or upload large files online. Symmetric connections are even more important for HD video and VoIP calls if you want to avoid interruptions.

Verizon Fios Gig Connection is expensive , but it’s a blazingly fast plan for businesses with the most demanding internet needs. Of course, even though it’s named “Gigabit,” which equals 1,000 Mbps, the plan’s download and upload speeds are just shy of a true gigabit, at 940 Mbps and 880 Mbps, respectively. However, considering Verizon’s Fios business internet plans are known to operate at above 100% of their advertised speeds,1 you can expect the Gig Connection plan to be as fast or faster than competitor gigabit plans.

For medium-sized businesses—those with more than 20 employees—Verizon offers the same Fios plans at the same price as the small-business market. This provides an excellent solution for growing businesses that aren’t quite ready for the cost and complexity of the Verizon Enterprise Solutions suite of products.

Verizon’s LTE business internet plans aren’t what you’d call “high speed.” You can’t do a whole lot with 10 Mbps. But if your business employs only two or three people and you don’t need much speed—but you do need a reliable connection—then one of these plans is for you.

Verizon business bundles and packages

We bet your business needs more than internet—most likely, you’re going to need a phone system too. You may be able to save money on both by bundling services with Verizon. You can also add TV or other packages.

If your business has a phone number, you’ll still need phone service basics like toll-free numbers, three-way calling, long-distance calling, etc. You can bundle phone service—meaning business voice, not cell phone—with any internet plan. The cost depends on whether you choose Fios digital voice phone (VoIP) or standard voice services (and the cost of either service varies based on your location). One VoIP line adds about $5 per month to your internet plan (a $35 cost on its own), while one standard voice line adds $10.

For TV, you'll pay an extra $10 a month to get Verizon Fios TV, delivered using the same fiber connection as your high-speed internet service. This standard plan gets you only local TV stations, but there are more expansive plans available for higher costs.

Value-added services and packages

Verizon sells an array of extra services and packages to let you tailor your internet plan to your business’s needs. From cloud storage to high-end technical support, see if you need any of these value-added plans.

Products for medium-sized businesses

Verizon puts midsize businesses in a unique position. If you have more than 20 employees—but fewer than 500—you get access to certain Verizon business enterprise products.

From business digital VoIP to dedicated internet, these services help upgrade your networks, increase productivity, and improve communication within your organization.

Consider switching to an internet-based solution for handling customer and interoffice calls. It’s fast, reliable, and portable.

If internet delays are a major worry for you, a dedicated internet connection provides consistent speeds and an immensely reliable connection.

Concerned about data privacy and potential security breaches? Set up a private, encrypted network to ensure only permitted employees get access.

Verizon business reigns supreme with reliability and support

Uptime: guaranteed reliability.

For businesses that have reliability and technical support as their utmost concerns, Verizon is a shining option.

DSL plans from Verizon have a 99.95% uptime guarantee—still impressive for high-speed internet plans. That exposes you to about 22 minutes of downtime a month.

For more information about uptime, see our FAQ section below.

Technical and customer support: Best in class

In 2022, J.D. Power rated Verizon best for customer satisfaction for "very small" and "small/midsize" business internet market segments and second for "large enterprise" business. 2 This distinction is important if you care about the factors customers used to rate Verizon so highly, like reliability, cost, billing, and customer service. But then again, who wouldn’t?

If you want access to the best technical and customer service support Verizon offers, consider purchasing one of its extra services or applications mentioned above.

Verizon’s 99.99% Fios uptime guarantee means you can expect downtimes below only four or five minutes per month. If you experience service worse than that, Verizon will credit your bill.

Latency: Pinged as a potential problem

It isn’t all roses with Verizon’s high-speed internet service. We caught whiffs of complaints in internet customer perceptions stemming from problems with latency. Latency is the delay in how long it takes Verizon to send a bit of information from one end of its connection to the other. High latency can lead to headaches: when your connection stalls or slows down, it can cause lower-quality VoIP calls, disruptions in file uploads and downloads, and delays in employee and customer communication.

Verizon has a service level agreement for latency of 45 ms (milliseconds) or less for its US business connections. That isn’t terrible, but it isn’t as good as what some competitors— like AT&T —offer their customers. This could be why we found all those online latency-related complaints.

Verizon business internet: The fine print

Let’s break down some of the less obvious costs, rules, and hardware requirements you may run into with Verizon.

On top of your monthly cost for Verizon internet services, you may pay certain fees for the installation, activation, or early cancellation of your service.

  • Installation and activation: Verizon waives most installation fees we could find, but you will pay $99.99 to activate a new Fios 100 Mbps internet connection or $24.99 for DSL (or $149.99 without an annual contract for either internet type).
  • Early termination: To cancel early with a two-year agreement, you’ll pay 35% of your base monthly charges for the remaining months of your contract.

You can get lower prices for signing a two-year agreement that renews automatically. For no-contract plans, expect to add about $15 to $20 per month to your bill.

You need certain hardware to run your business internet, including the Wi-Fi network. For DSL lines, Verizon will ask you to purchase a $24.99 router. Fiber plans require higher-tech equipment, so you’ll need to buy the $199.99 (or $9.99 per month) Fios Quantum Gateway. You can extend your Wi-Fi range with a network extender, which costs another $99.99 (or $6.99 per month).

Verizon vs top competitors

$69.99

Symmetric fiber speeds, affordable near-gigabit plan

$69.99

Affordable high-speed options, up to 2,000 Mbps

$75.00

Downloads up to 1,000 Mbps, superior customer service

$49.99

24/7 support, competitive pricing

$49.99

Cable speeds up to 940 Mbps, reasonable costs

$80.00

Fast satellite internet, large ranges of speeds

The takeaway

Imagine you’re close to landing a new client for your business, and as you try to send a critical file, your internet connection freezes. If this worst-case scenario terrifies you, then your business needs what Verizon offers: superior speeds matched by equally superior uptime guarantees. Here are a few particular Verizon plans we like best:

  • For top-of-the-market speeds, Verizon Fios Gig Connection lets you do just about anything online—and scale your internet connection as your business grows too.
  • If you’re budget-conscious but still need a fiber connection, go with Verizon Fios 200M . At $69 with matching download and upload speeds, you can balance your needs for speed and cost.

Don’t need a speed-demon-friendly plan? Verizon Business Internet 3 Mbps is good for a one-person, data-light business for under $50 per month.

FAQ about Verizon business internet

But wait, there’s more! Let’s see if we can answer some questions you might have about Verizon business internet.

Fiber internet gets its name from the fiber wires with glass connections used to transmit internet data at super-fast speeds. Fios is Verizon’s brand name for its fiber-optic internet and TV services.

In other consumer news: Thanks to a 2016 purchase of Verizon internet lines in some US states, you may see Frontier’s fiber internet plans, Frontier Fiber, in more areas. 3

Verizon’s 99.99% uptime guarantee is one of the reasons we recommend the brand to many small businesses. With less than four and a half minutes downtime per month, Verizon’s “four nines” service level guarantee is worth the extra cost of its plans.

How much speed do I need for my business internet?

Not every business needs the lightning-fast internet speeds of a gigabit fiber connection. Many can get by on a few megabits per second. See which of these download speed ranges might be best for your business. (Each bullet adds to the capabilities of the previous one.)

With downloads up to 940 Mbps and uploads up to 880 Mbps, you can do near-instant file transfers, operate sophisticated e-commerce services, and scale your internet capabilities as your business grows.

  • 1 to 4 Mbps: Allows one to three users to do light web surfing, email, online computing, and standard-definition video streaming and conferencing.
  • 5 to 19 Mbps: Connects a few employees and adds the ability to easily transfer files, run ecommerce services, and stream and conference in high definition.
  • 20 to 49 Mbps: Several employees can download big files and stream and communicate online with little interruption. You can also set up well-functioning Wi-Fi for employees and customers at this level.
  • 50 to 99 Mbps: About a dozen employees can work, conference, and collaborate in real time. File sharing is easier, and downloads and backups are faster. Hi-def streaming and conferencing is clear.
  • 100 to 499 Mbps: Suits internet-heavy business operations with many users who access applications and files on the cloud. Supports website services with lots of online traffic and activity.
  • 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps: The fastest business internet available. As you approach 1,000 Mbps, all the previous activity and more become near-instantaneous, and you rarely wait for any service to function.

Where is Verizon Fios available?

Fiber internet is still fairly new in the market, which means companies that provide it are still building out their connections across the United States. Unfortunately, Verizon Fios is limited to a few markets clustered in the Northeast.

Should I pay extra for a static IP address?

Verizon’s plans all give you the option to have either a dynamic or static IP address. The static IP address costs another $20 per month, so what is it—and should you buy it?

Dynamic IP addresses can change over time if your service provider thinks it's necessary. Many customers and businesses won’t notice the change. But a shifting IP address can spell trouble if you use certain services online. That’s why Verizon gives you the choice to lock in your IP address—for an extra fee on your forward-looking statement that covers the administrative cost.

For example, you might need a static IP address if you work in digital marketing and need to “whitelist” certain IPs, including your own, so your activity on a client website doesn’t mess with the client’s traffic analytics.

Static IPs also help if your employees or others need to remotely access your network, or if you host your own servers for online communication, ecommerce, or virtual private networks (VPNs).

Start 5G : Unlimited 4G LTE/5G Nationwide, and Verizon Call Filter, a feature that screens for unwanted calls

Plus 5G : double the mobile hotspot data (now 100 GB), Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband, streaming at 1080p, Verizon Call Filter, and TravelPass (2 days per month: $20 monthly savings vs. purchasing them separately), which offers unlimited talk, text and data in 210+ countries and destinations

Pro 5G : double the mobile hotspot data (now 200 GB), Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband, streaming at 1080p, Verizon Call Filter, TravelPass (4 days per month: $40 monthly savings vs. purchasing them separately), Business Mobile Secure Bundle, and 50% off a Business Unlimited Tablet Pro plan

“Our new plans are about more than savings, they’re about value,” said Iris Meijer, Chief Marketing Officer, Verizon Business. “We conducted extensive customer research to get a complete picture of what customers valued the most in their plans and what they wanted added. We built our new plans based on that feedback, and included the features that made the biggest impact for our customers at price points that made sense for businesses of all sizes.”

Each plan offers progressive savings, with every additional smartphone line decreasing in cost by $5-15, reaching the greatest savings at the 5-line mark: $30, $40, and $45, respectively (auto-pay/paper-free billing discount also included). Additionally, Verizon Business is currently running a limited-time BYOD (bring your own device) promotion, in which customers can save $600 over 24 months by activating a Business Unlimited Plus 5G or Unlimited Pro 5G plan when they bring their existing number and smartphone.

Business Unlimited 5G customers have access to 5G coverage and the leading performance of Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband (UW), along with the powerful security bundle, Business Mobile Secure.

Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network is available to more than 200 million people. 5G and 5G UW are available as part of select Business Unlimited 5G plans.
