good online jobs for stay at home moms

If you are a stay at home mom but still want to earn some money, you can still do so through online jobs! There are lots of legit work from home jobs for moms that can help you achieve your financial goals while still being able to take care of your family at home.

Depending on your needs, schedule, and flexibility, there are good online jobs that you can try out.

Table of Contents

The best work at home jobs for moms:

Being a mommy blogger is a popular online job for moms. This is because of the amount of flexibility that you can have. You can work whatever hours and days that fit your schedule or your family’s schedule.

When I first started my blog I would start working on my blog at 10:00 at night once everyone was asleep. It was hard work getting my blog started, but I eventually was able to grow it to make more than I did at my old full-time job.

Mom bloggers can earn around $500 – $50,000 in a month.

Another pro to being a blogger is that you don’t need to be a computer programmer or techie, you don’t even have to be a professional writer. The key is to write or blog about something you feel passionate about or what interests you. You may have some knowledge you want to share with other moms that can be helpful for them.

I get a ton of questions about how I grew my blog so I put together a few resources to help you get started!

2. Virtual Assistant

A virtual assistant is someone who does specific tasks for a company or client. You are doing the work and performing your duties from your home, hence the term “virtual”.

Everything is done online such as meetings, emails, writing, editing, researching, and many more. As a virtual assistant, your tasks could range from managing social media, ghostwriting, replying to emails, sending invoices, graphic design, editing, photoshop, scheduling meetings, data entry, customer service, and other admin work.

My very first online job as a mom was working as a virtual assistant for a small local company. I did social media management, influencer marketing, and customer service. I learned a ton and it helped me develop skills that eventually helped me grow my own businesses.

Many virtual assistants start at about $15 , but as you develop your skills and especially if you can specialize in an area you can earn up to $50 an hour.

3. Freelance Writer

If you are passionate about writing, then being a freelance writer could be a great option for you. Freelance writing is a great job for moms because it allows you to have the flexibility to accommodate your schedule.

There are also lots of businesses and even bloggers out there that need writers. You can write for blogs, magazines, social media, and media publications.

Some freelance writing sites you can check out are Babble, Narratively, Upworthy, to name a few. You don’t need to be a professional writer in order to succeed in this job. You can simply share your own knowledge and personal experiences and earn some money in doing so.

Some freelance writers can even earn up to $200,000 a year.

4. Online Tutor

If you have specific knowledge about a subject or have teaching or tutoring experience, you can apply to become an online tutor and earn from home.

One of the best online tutoring jobs out there is VIPKid . This company hires English tutors to teach Chinese kids online. You don’t need to learn another language, you would just need to have a bachelor’s degree and have some teaching experience.

The pay could range from $14 – $22 an hour. Another great thing is that VIPKid allows you to choose your own teaching schedule, so it’s perfect for a busy stay-at-home mama. Their peak hours are in the early mornings or late evenings so right when your little ones are asleep.

If you don’t have a bachelor’s degree yet but you are working on one try QKids . They do not require that you have completed your degree.

You can also go to Tutor.com for more tutoring job options. Being an online tutor can be a satisfying job to have especially if you like to help others and teach others as well.

5. Proofreader

If you are a grammar aficionado, have a great eye for detail,  and can spot grammar and spelling mistakes, then you can try becoming a proofreader online.

Depending on the company, they would have different requirements regarding your experience or skills.

There are also free proofreading courses to help you out in case you want to learn more and improve your skills.

Learn Here: This free webinar is a great place to start !

6. Selling on Amazon

If you are a deal-savvy mom then this might be a great option for you.

There are two main ways you can find products to sell on Amazon, retail arbitrage or private label.

Retail Arbitrage is where you find things on sale or on clearance in stores (or online) and then sell it on Amazon for a higher price.

Private label will require more to get into, but with it, you purchase products in bulk straight from the manufacturer and sell them as your own products.

We sold on Amazon FBA a few years ago and made some good money from it. But for most people, I would recommend starting with retail arbitrage until you’ve learned the ropes and have a little bit more money to invest in products.

Once you have your products you ship them to Amazon and they list them on their site. When it sells they ship it to the customer for you and you get your cut of the sale.

When I was first getting started I learned a lot from the Selling Family. They have a free Amazon course that you can take that will walk you through getting started with Amazon. They were able to build up a business making over $100,000 a year via retail arbitrage.

7. dropshipping.

As a dropshipper you don’t have to actually carry any products and the investment to get started is small. First, you will create a Shopify store ( you can get a free trial with this special link ), then you will do some research to find products that you can sell for a profit using Oberlo .

The items you will sell come directly from the manufacturer.

Generally, these manufacturers are in China. When your customer orders from your site then you go in and order directly from the manufacturer and they ship it right to your customer.

This is a great online job for moms because you don’t have to invest a ton of money upfront or carry inventory.

You can really sell anything you want to! Having an online store also means you are more flexible and you can still take care of your home and family at the same time.

You don’t need to be a computer expert to have an online store either. There are tons of beautiful themes and templates that you can use on Shopify to quickly make a gorgeous store.

8. Freelance Graphic Designer

This is a freelance job for moms that requires a higher level of skill.

You don’t necessarily need formal training or a degree, but you do need to know how to design. You can always take courses online to enhance your skills. This free course from my friend Kimi has a ton of graphic design tips if you want to market your services to bloggers.

As a freelance graphic designer, you need to know programs like Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and others.

Nowadays, all kinds of companies and businesses would require a graphic designer and this work can be profitable for you if you would become successful at it. There is definitely a market out there for it.

You can also make a significant amount, especially if you have the experience and have built up your portfolio. You can charge around $25-$300 per hour and the average amount a freelance graphic designer will earn in a year is around $60,000.

What’s great about being a freelance graphic designer is that you can choose to accept work or projects or not, it’s all up to you and how much you are willing to take on.

9. Online marketing

There are a lot of online marketing positions out there that stay-at-home moms can take on. You can provide marketing services to companies like being a SEO strategist, content strategist, social media expert, Facebook ads manager and more.

These kind of jobs are good for you if you are into marketing and promoting products, services, and brands.

10. Search Engine Evaluator

The role of a search engine evaluator is to make sure that search engines are always updated and accurate. It’s another one of those online jobs for moms that will allow you to work at any time you prefer.

You don’t need any special skills or training to be a search engine evaluator. All you need is a computer and a good internet connection.

Companies that hire search engine evaluators include Appen , LionBridge , among many others. When you have applied online, you will then be given an assessment test.

Roughly you can earn $12 – $14 per hour , depending on the company you are working for. There are also companies all over the world who are looking for search engine evaluators so it’s an in-demand online job.

11. Transcriptionist

Being a transcriptionist means you listen to audio files and record them as text in a document. This requires you to enhance your listening as well as your typing skills.

If you want, you can make a business out of this and offer your own services to earn even more. Transcriptionists are in super high demand.

Here are a couple of free courses if you think this is something you would enjoy:

  • Free General Transcription Course
  • Or learn about the specialized niche of legal transcription

12. Data Entry

This job entails you to follow directions and key in specific data that a company or business would require. You can easily do this from your home and you would just need the right equipment. It’s great work to do to give you extra income.

There is a big demand for this job but you have to make sure you do your research and find a legit company.

There is also a lot of competition out there for this role. Some companies you can check out are: Sigtrack , Quicktate , SpeakWrite , among others.

13. Chat Agents

Chat agent work involves work similar to customer service in the sense that you are basically helping customers and answering inquiries. The only difference is that everything is done online in the form of chat.

You would just need to work your way around the computer and also be willing to help others. Having the right helpful attitude can also go a long way since you are doing a sort of customer service job.

You can check out sites like The Chat Shop to find chat agent work opportunities.

14. Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing involves you referring a certain product or service to someone. If that person uses your link and buys that particular product or service, you can then earn a commission from it.

It’s an easy and convenient way to earn extra income because after setting everything up, you don’t need to meet deadlines, answer phones, reply to emails, or anything like that.

This means you can still have your own mommy time to do other things while having the potential to earn from your affiliates.

Some of my favorite affiliate networks to work with are:

  • Ultimate Bundles

One great way to make money with affiliate marketing is by using affiliate links on Pinterest !

15. Bookkeeper

If you like the idea of dealing with numbers or finances as part of your work, then being a bookkeeper may work for you. As a bookkeeper, you will be taking down financial transactions, producing financial statements, creating financial reports, and basically organizing a company or organization’s accounts.

You can do this work either directly for a company, or you can create your own business and provide this service for clients. This will be kind of like freelance bookkeeping work.

If you have had no experience, you can always take free courses online to help you understand and learn more about the craft.

If you already had the experience, you can go apply to directly to companies like Belay or Accountingdepartment.com. As a bookkeeper, you can charge up to $80 per hour , while working for the companies mentioned above would let you earn around $16 per hour .

16. Selling on Etsy

Etsy is a great platform for you to use your creativity and sell items that you are passionate about, and make a profit while doing it. What’s great about it is that you can manage your own time and be flexible – something that is very important for a stay-at-home mom job.

This mom we interviewed has made over six-figures selling on Etsy !

17. Mystery Shopper

A mystery shopper is basically a “secret” shopper which requires you to do market research for certain companies. You would then make reports based on what is required of you. These are based on actual observations.

It’s also flexible enough for stay-at-home moms since you can choose to accept certain assignments or not. Some companies that you can check out for mystery shopping jobs are: BestMark , Intellishop , Market Force , Trendsource .

For more options check out the best mystery shopping companies .

18. Social Media Manager

Social media is very popular nowadays and almost everyone has an account in different platforms. If you love to be on social media, why not make money out of it at the same time?

As a social media manager, your job is to manage a company or business’s social media accounts. You can create posts, respond to messages and inquiries, reply to comments, etc. It is flexible because you can take on as many clients as you have time for.

You can earn around $1,000 to $10,000 per month , depending on how many clients and work you have.

19. Photographer

If photography is your passion, you can definitely do it and earn some cash out of your hobby. If you have great quality photos, you can create an online portfolio and you can post your work on social media and sell them. You can also sell your photos as stock photography to companies like Shutterstock and iStock .

You can also offer services to friends, family, or small businesses.

20. Family YouTube channels

If you are comfortable being in front of the camera you can create a YouTube channel about a topic you are passionate about. As you get more views and followers you can run ads on your Youtube channel. As you build a loyal following you also can work with brands on sponsored videos.

It’s flexible enough since you have control of your own time and you can work from home or anywhere else. You also have control of what content you would put out there.

As a stay at home mom, I recommend “Medical Coding” as a wonderful work from home option. Yes, you will need training. You can’t just code medical records without having proper training. However, this is a real and promising career. I used to work for “Career Step” and they have an awesome Medical Coding course.

http://www.careerstep.com/

Their training is done online and is self-paced. You could finish the program in 4 months but 6 months is probably more realistic. They do however give you up to a year to get it all done. Their program prepares you to become certified by the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. They are partnered with RCM Healthcare services a premier provider of staffing solutions for over 400 healthcare institutions. They get their graduates working from home right out of the program.

The average salary for this career is about $40,000. Their entire program including books, instructors and job assistance is around $3,000 and they offer sweet payment plans.

Rocking list McKinzie. I am totally partial to blogging myself 😉

Wow! This is an incredible list! I never knew the options that were available for SAHM. It can be difficult to find a job that is simple to do at home. Especially when your significant other has crazy work hours.

I try to make income on the side from blogging but would love to branch out and try different resources. Freelance writing and virtual assistant sound interesting and is something I am interested in trying.

Thank you Mckinzie for writing this post. Will bookmark this to refer back to.

Am interested in medical coding.

Remote work: The ultimate ally

10 best work-from-home jobs for moms, the downsides of working from home, how to job hunt as a mom, when’s the best time to return to work after becoming a mom, don't hesitate to ask for help.

It doesn't matter whether you're a first-time mom, a mom with more than one child, or if you have a partner at home. Balancing family and work is difficult.

You’re probably at a stage in life where you're trying to support your family but still thinking about your professional career. A flexible job that allows you to work from home might be your best friend.

Finding the best work-from-home jobs for moms isn't as easy as you think — but there are some great ones out there if you know where to look.

Jobs for stay-at-home moms still have some downsides, so we're here to explain all the important aspects of remote work and why remote work is a great option for moms in the first place.

Achieving a balance between professional and personal lives as a mom is challenging. You want to be present when you’re at work and home with your family. But sometimes, work pulls you away from your home responsibilities, and vice versa.

Since remote work schedules are more flexible, they eliminate commutes and allow you to spend more quality time with your family. Whether it’s a full-time job or just a side hustle for extra income, you can adjust your workload as needed.

Apart from moms, a lot of people want to work from home . One survey found that 70% of workers want to work remotely or have a hybrid model after the pandemic is over . With remote work or hybrid models gaining popularity among workers, it’s great news for moms looking for job opportunities.

More companies will consider remote or part-time options, and moms can take advantage of them.

If your job before was in-person and you want to switch to remote working, BetterUp can help you make that transition. We can help you overcome the challenges of adjusting to a new way of working and managing your valuable time.

The best work-from-home job for you might be completely different than someone else. Some require a bachelor's degree, while others are the best jobs for stay-at-home moms with no experience. You can find full-time work, side gigs to earn extra money, or part-time jobs for moms at home. The point is that you decide what your work-from-home job will be.

To paint a better picture of what a work-from-home job could look like, we've compiled a list of 10 jobs you can do remotely, and an estimated salary for each of them:

Busy-young-female-transcriptionist-in-earphones-best-work-from-home-jobs-for-moms

It's the positive aspects of work-from-home jobs that we hear about most often. But that doesn't mean there aren't any downsides or challenges to remote work .

Working from home makes it tempting to do nothing but work sometimes. It's something that easily consumes us, which leads to burnout . We need to have a healthy work-life balance for our family's sake, and so we must establish limits on how much we work or our work hours throughout the day.

Another downside of doing work-from-home is our internet connection. One study done in 2020 found that an estimated 42.8 million Americans didn't have stable broadband to work productively from home without internet problems . If we have poor internet connection, we aren't able to log onto the programs our online job demands.

And while the pandemic has opened up more opportunities for moms to take advantage of remote work, it doesn't mean it's smooth sailing for everyone. The Pew Research Center has found several ways the pandemic challenged working moms, including while doing remote work.

One of their surveys found that 54% of working moms struggled to balance their work and parenting responsibilities . Plus, out of the moms in opposite-sex relationships, 74% said they took care of their children more than their partner, which cut into their ability to work productively.

And if all single mom jobs from home were fully remote, they wouldn’t have a partner to help them with at-home responsibilities. Daycare and childcare can be expensive, so finding a job that let’s you work when you can — like during nap time or after dinner — will increase your work-from-home opportunities.

Even if you're motivated to find a remote job, it's still helpful to learn some tips for the job search. Like any other job hunt, it sometimes makes you feel lost.

Happy-young-woman-student-or-employee-excited-by-reading-good-news-best-work-from-home-jobs-for-moms

Here are eight tips to help you on your job search:

  • Begin with some shadow work to decide what work is best for you and fits your needs
  • Network within the industry to learn tips or hear advice from other professionals
  • Find companies you admire and keep an eye on their hiring pages
  • Look on remote work specific job sites for postings
  • Take a few online courses to sharpen your skills and refresh yourself
  • Practice your interviewing skills with your partner or friends
  • Create a website that shows off your skills and portfolio
  • Widen your search to companies far away if the work is all remote

The best time to return to work as a new mom is a tough question. The short answer is that there’s no exact time you should go back to work after becoming a mother, as it depends on your situation. Your preferences and lifestyle might differ from another mom's, so there's no sense in comparing yourself to others.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists say that 73% of women return to work within six months of becoming mothers . But some of these moms return because they run out of paid medical leave and risk losing their jobs or need the income to alleviate financial stress .

Just because others are doing it doesn't mean you have to rush yourself. If you have the means, take all the time you need. And listen to your mind and body. If you aren't ready now, you deserve a break. If you rush yourself, you could burn yourself out and harm your well-being.

Some of the best work-from-home jobs for moms could replace your previous career. While the law prohibits employers from discriminating against you based on your pregnancy and recent motherhood, prolonged maternity leave might lead to a potential loss of income. Finding a more flexible role might be just what you need.

Successful-Pregnant-Businesswoman-Working-best-work-from-home-jobs-for-moms

Take it easy

As you think about when you want to return to work, remember to have patience and self-compassion . If you're looking for a new job as a mom, don't forget to slow down and give yourself a break. Stay-at-home mom careers take resilience, as they’re likely new to you.

You're trying to adjust to a new stage of life after some big changes. Remember to be kind to yourself because things may not go exactly to plan right away.

If you're checking out new remote jobs, brush up on some tips for working at home . Some tips will work for you, but some won't. That’s OK — everyone’s different.

The best work-from-home jobs for moms vary from parent to parent. What might be the ideal job for one mom could be the opposite for someone else. That's why we need to take this journey at our own pace.

Going back to work after maternity leave is difficult. It's tough to balance our family and our professional career, so asking for help is something we need to become comfortable doing. We could ask our managers , coworkers, or friends for help as we adjust to working again. A surprisingly high percentage of mothers leave their jobs once they have children, some citing the statistic as high as 43% . Some of these moms plan to stay at home with their kids, of course, but there are also many mothers who find returning to work after giving birth overwhelmingly challenging—and in many cases, just not worth it.

For one, companies often aren’t supportive of moms advancing their careers after they have kids. They rarely offer flexible schedules that allow moms to balance their careers with raising their family. And maternity leave policies in the U.S. are seriously lacking.

The U.S.’s Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) guarantees just 12 (unpaid) weeks off for the birth of a new child to full-time workers who qualify. (In fact, millions of American moms aren’t offered any maternity leave after the birth or adoption of a child.) New moms frequently need to make a choice: leave their infant with a daycare, nanny, or family member, or lose their job. In other words, our government really puts the FML in FMLA.

Despite this sad state of maternity rights in the U.S., it is possible to stay at home while keeping a foot in the career world. To accomplish this, it can help to find a remote job with scheduling flexibility.

Luckily, it’s getting easier and easier to find remote jobs for moms. While you can search remote job boards for work at home jobs for moms, you might have a better chance of getting hired with one of the six job-matching sites below.

6 sites that match you with work at home jobs for moms

These websites are specifically designed for finding legit work at home jobs for moms who need flexible work they can do around their parenting schedule. The social mission of these companies is admirable, and hopefully a sign of future possibilities for working mothers.

If you’re looking for a flexible online job for stay at home moms, these recruiters could match you with the opportunity you’ve been seeking.

1. The Mom Project

The Mom Project has a spectacular social mission: to make it easier for women to re-enter the workforce after having children. The organization writes,

Juggling a career and a family is a nearly impossible task. Our platform makes it easier by matching you with work opportunities that align with your work and flexibility preferences.

The Mom Project collects a fee from the hiring company, but membership for you is free. They match you with remote jobs for moms in tech, finance and accounting, marketing, HR, legal, operations, and sales.

Along with work from home options, you can also find on-site jobs that The Mom Project promises are compatible with your work and life preferences .

2. Hire My Mom

HireMyMom.com allows stay at home moms to upload a resume and apply for jobs and projects they can do from home from their computer. As with the others, you create a profile and then apply for jobs.

HireMyMom.com doesn’t take a commission; instead, they charge a fee of $29.95 a quarter (or $99 for a year). They post jobs in a host of different areas, including blogging, copy editing, finance, customer service, administrative work, virtual assistance, marketing, and sales.

3.  Power to Fly

With Power to Fly , you start by filling out a profile and can then search for job opportunities. You can keep your resume up even after you find a job, in case something interesting comes along.

Power to Fly has a “Remote Jobs” category you can select as you search, and it lists tech, engineering, product and design, marketing, and sales jobs specifically for women.

4. The Second Shift

Membership to The Second Shift is free, but if you get hired for a project through the site, 5% of your proceeds will go to them. They do provide invoicing, payments, and tax forms, which is a nice benefit of the commission fee. The company says,

We are on a mission to change the future of work for women.

The Second Shift will check references and conduct a personal interview with you in order to then match you with projects and jobs you’d for which you’d be a good fit. They mainly work with companies seeking help on marketing and finance projects.

Werk offers another great service for highly educated and qualified parents looking for remote jobs for moms with built-in flexibility they can do from home, whether full or part-time.

This site charges an annual membership fee to access its job listings, which are generally in the fields of communications and PR, fundraising, marketing, product management, sales and business development, talent and culture, finance and accounting, and law.

They claim to offer jobs with “pre-negotiated flexibility,” so anything you apply to is already designed for parents who need flexible schedules. Their jobs are categorized by their degree of flexibility, so parents can apply for jobs that are fully remote, partially remote, part-time, or that operate at hours other than the standard 9 to 5.

Another built-in option gives employees the ability to make last-minute adjustments to their schedules, a useful perk for when your kid gets sick or your babysitter cancels unexpectedly.

Through Pepperlane, you can create and manage your business, get help with marketing, and find advice and encouragement from other moms. This Cambridge, MA start-up was the idea of Sharon Kan, who co-founded the Women Innovating Now Lab at Babson College.

Knowing where to start as an entrepreneur is a daunting prospect, but Pepperlane makes it easy to implement your vision and turn your idea into a fully functioning business.

Starting your own business from home is another option, with many moms successfully running home-based businesses in various industries. Identifying Legitimate Work-From-Home Opportunities

When it comes to finding legitimate work-from-home opportunities , it’s important to be cautious and do your research. Here are some tips to help you identify legitimate remote job opportunities.

Remote job boards are a great place to start your search for work-from-home opportunities . Some popular remote job boards include FlexJobs, Remote.co, and We Work Remotely. These job boards list remote job openings from various industries, including customer service, marketing, and IT.

When using remote job boards, it’s essential to read the job description carefully . Make sure the job requirements match your skills and experience. Also, check the company’s website and social media pages to verify their legitimacy.

I have a TikTok video here to explain what I look for when identifying if a company is legit or not.

Unfortunately, there are many work-from-home scams out there. To avoid falling victim to a scam, it’s essential to perform a background check on the company before applying.

One way to check a company’s legitimacy is to search for reviews online. Sites like Glassdoor and Indeed provide reviews from current and former employees. You can also check the Better Business Bureau website to see if the company has any complaints.

It’s also important to be wary of job postings that promise high pay for little work or require you to pay a fee upfront. Legitimate companies will never ask you to pay for a job.

Also, look for a company’s address, only verified companies have registered addresses with Google. If they don’t have one, there is a good chance the company may be fake.

In conclusion, finding legitimate work-from-home opportunities requires caution and research. By using remote job boards and performing background checks, you can increase your chances of finding a legitimate work-from-home job that matches your skills and experience.

If you're looking for an online work-from-home teaching gig, Outschool may be right for you. After filling out a brief application and verifying your identity, you will need to complete a background check. Once said check clears, you will need to complete several required training sessions.

You can then create your profile and list your first class, which can be a topic you've had formal training in/on and/or anything you know a lot about. (Outschool does not require teaching credentials; they believe that experience and interest make an individual more than qualified.) As for pay, you will get 70% of the enrollment fees.

TranscribeMe!

After registering online and completing a training and exam course, TranscribeMe will set you up with audio and video files that need transcribing. The only requirements are a high school diploma and being fluent in English. You will also need a computer and internet access. TranscribeMe issues payments once a week through PayPal, and you can earn up to $22 per audio hour.

Becoming a virtual tutor through websites like Chegg can be a great way for parents to earn some extra cash flow from home. Before approval, one must fill out their online application, and provide two forms of school verification—such as a diploma, transcripts, or student ID—that prove you are currently or have been enrolled in a university.

Subject tests may be required depending on your area of expertise. Once an application is submitted, a response should follow within seven business days. All tutors are paid a flat rate of $20 an hour. PayPal processes payments automatically every Thursday morning.

While many assume a job with Amazon would be out of the house—delivery drivers, for example, are on the road most of the day and both pickers and stockers work the warehouse—the company has numerous work-from-home positions.

Customer service reps work remotely, as do data entry personnel and many members of their tech support team. Learn more about each position by visiting Amazon's remote locations jobs page . Depending on your location, qualifications, and job type, earn anywhere from around $15 per hour to over $100,000 per year.

World Wide 101

World Wide 101 is a premium subscription staffing website that provides virtual assistants to those in need. Although you have the luxury of working from home, you are still titled "a world-class business support specialist" whose main goal is to support entrepreneurs, small business owners, and executives with a wide range of assistant-like tasks. This is ideal for individuals with a background in administration, customer service, marketing, or project management.

The application process includes two video interviews, psychometric testing, reference, and background checks—accepted candidates will be contacted within 14 days. You can earn up to $20–$22 an hour (payments go directly to your bank account) and there are benefit opportunities such as parental leave and paid vacation.

Appen has gained a positive reputation for being the ideal work-from-home option for new parents. The most popular job opportunity under Appen is the Social Media Evaluator position. After your application is accepted there is a paid training process.

According to workersonboard.com , once training is completed your role is to evaluate the "impact" of random social media posts—this means examining assigned feeds and rating them. The job requires four-hour work days, five days a week.

Other Work-From-Home Job Opportunities

Interested in pursuing work in a certain field? Consider one of these work-from-home jobs.

If you're good with a needle and thread, you may be able to work from home as a seamstress. Contact area dress shops, bridal shops, department stores, and even your local dry cleaner. Many offer contract or seasonal work. Word-of-mouth is another great way to find potential clients.

Another option is to offer tutoring or after-school academic programming to kids at local schools. This is a great option for teachers but can also work for anyone with child care or teaching experience and substantial knowledge in subjects like math, coding, writing, reading, or languages. Check with teachers and school staff to find out if you can post an ad in the weekly newsletter or school website. Or spread the word through parents you know.

Medical coder

Have a background in medical billing and coding? Hospitals and medical facilities across the country need trained coders, and this work can be done remotely. All you need is a computer and access to the proper software and systems. That said, while this position can be lucrative, it does require training—either online or in-person.

Proofreader or writer

While it may not sound lucrative, freelance proofreaders and writers can make a decent living—with a little grit, hustle, and whole lot of determination. Look at company job boards and join online writing forums and groups. Network. And contact local and national publications directly. Newspapers, websites, magazines, and blogs all employ freelancers.

One of the most flexible (and obvious) ways to earn money at home with children is to babysit, especially if you are already home watching your own child. You make your own hours, set your own rate, and can pick and choose your clientele. Consider offering regular babysitting or hosting camps. A real win-win. Interested? Consider setting up a profile with companies like Sittercity or Care.com . Or put the word out in your community—you're bound to know someone looking for child care.

Companies often hire remote-working customer service reps. From home, you can take phone calls or online chats from customers to help them with order inquiries, trouble-shooting technology, or support with payments.

Companies are often looking for people with a degree in communications or related experience, plus knowledge about analytics and search engine optimization (SEO).

Stay-at-Home Mom Side Hustles

The careers we’ve listed here are great stay-at-home mom jobs for those who want or need a full-time setup. But what about moms who just want to earn a little extra money on the side?

There are plenty of good side hustles for stay-at-home moms to make money without the commitment of a new career. You won’t make as much money, but these ideas can help you get extra cash.

Market researcher

Market research companies need to know what consumers think and they find out by conducting research through paid online surveys . You can sign up to take these surveys and earn cash and rewards. It’s a quick and easy way to make money from home.

There are lots of sites that claim to pay you for taking surveys, but many offer very low pay or are just plain scams. Freecash , Survey Junkie, and Swagbucks are reliable companies that pay you to take surveys.

Food delivery driver

If you have kids in school and access to a car, you might be able to make some money during those hours by delivering food for companies like DoorDash and Uber Eats , or by shopping for groceries with Instacart .

The money you earn depends on how many orders you accept, any tips you receive, and the hours you work (i.e. peak delivery times pay more than off-peak). Make sure you read the requirements and payment schedule for each program before you apply, and factor in expenses like gas and car maintenance.

By selling items you no longer need or sourcing undervalued goods to sell at a profit, you can tap into the growing market for pre-owned items.

This approach not only helps in decluttering and organizing your home but remains one of the precious few income ideas that require minimal upfront investment.

Source items on places like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, local thrift stores, or flea markets, and refurbish or resell on niche marketplaces like Decluttr (tech), Etsy (handmade), and thredUP (clothing).

Balancing Work and Family Life

Balancing work and family life as a stay-at-home mom involves strategic planning and setting clear boundaries. If you’re finding it difficult to juggle both, these tips may help:

  • Create a Schedule : Designate specific work hours that fit around your family’s routine. Early mornings, nap times, or evenings can be productive times for work without interrupting family time.
  • Set Up a Dedicated Workspace : Having a specific area for work helps in mentally separating work from home life, making it easier to focus during work hours and step away when it’s family time.
  • Prioritize Tasks : Identify your most important tasks for the day, both for work and family. This helps in managing your time effectively and ensures that you’re not overcommitting yourself.
  • Communicate with Your Family : Share your schedule with your family so they understand your work commitments. This helps in setting realistic expectations and supports in managing interruptions.
  • Take Breaks and Self-Care : Regular breaks and self-care are vital. They prevent burnout and ensure you have the energy to enjoy time with your family and be productive in your work.

Tax Considerations

Firstly, It’s important to determine if you’re classified as an independent contractor or an employee, as this affects your tax liabilities and deductions.

Independent contractors need to set aside a portion of their income for taxes, as they’re responsible for both income tax and self-employment tax.

“Make sure you set aside 20% – 35% of your side hustle income to cover your tax obligations to the federal government, your state, and even your local government,” says Ben Watson, CPA and vCFO at DollarSprout.

Keeping meticulous records of income and work-related expenses is vital, as many costs, such as home office setup, internet, and even a portion of your utilities, can be deductible. It’s also wise to make estimated tax payments quarterly to avoid a large tax bill at the end of the year.

Consulting with a tax professional can provide personalized advice, helping navigate the complexities of tax laws and maximizing potential deductions, ensuring that your financial contributions from home-based jobs are as efficient and beneficial as possible.

Customer Service Phone Jobs

One of the most popular online jobs for stay-at-home moms is customer service jobs.

A lot of companies hire for these positions very often. So if you’re struggling to find a work-from-home job, this is a great place to start.

Most people get around this problem by working night shift positions.

A great place to find work-from-home positions is in Facebook groups dedicated to this type of thing.

My favorites are WAH Job Queen, Kiss that Cubicle Goodbye, and Ditch Your 9 to 5. I’m sure there are other Facebook groups out there.

Companies on LinkedIn are always hiring for this role. You can also teach college courses as well with the right qualifications.

Remote Accountant/Bookkeeper

If you have accounting skills, then consider becoming a bookkeeper for other companies.

You may need to learn some software like QuickBooks as well as other accounting software.

Most of these can be self-thought with courses from Skillshare. Skillshare is an online course platform where you can learn anything from Quickbooks bookkeeping to painting.

Below is a Google search I did for a remote bookkeeper. The only major qualification mentioned is a knowledge of QuickBooks .

Bookkeeping will make a great work-from-home job for stay-at-home moms.

Managing a company’s social media accounts pays very well. It’s also a great WFH job for stay-at-home moms.

Transcriptionist

A transcriptionist is someone who listens to audio or video and then types up what is said.

Transcriptionists help create closed captions for TV shows and other types of video.

This would be a great WAH job for a stay-at-home mom because of the flexibility. With most transcription jobs, you set your own schedule.

Check out sites like Flexjobs, LinkedIn, and Google for Transcription jobs online.

Order Processing Specialist

Another remote job that would be perfect for stay-at-home moms is order processing specialist.

These are people who make orders of products or services for a company. They keep track of how much of the product/service is left and reorder so they don’t run out.

They also communicate with other companies to check on order status.

It’s a job that a stay-at-home mom can do. The screenshot below lists the job description of an order-processing specialist. You don’t need a college degree to do this job.

However, some companies require you to know how to use QuickBooks . The knowledge of QuickBooks will increase your earning potential. You can learn QuickBooks online in just weeks, on platforms like Skillshare and Coursera.

A sales support specialist is a fancy term for administrative assistant. They’re people who assist the sales team in whatever tasks they need to do their job.

This role usually requires only a high school diploma. There are also a lot of work-from-home jobs available for this position.

Most jobs can be found via Google search or LinkedIn.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a great way for stay-at-home moms to earn a living.

What is something you rave about to your family or friends? is it makeup, nail products, clothes, or cleaning supplies? What if you could get paid every time someone buys that thing you always tell them to try?

That’s what affiliate marketing is.

The basic concept of affiliate marketing is that, you recommend products or services to a group of people who could benefit from them. These people could be family, friends, followers, or readers online.

In exchange for your recommendations, the company pays you a commission when someone buys, signs up, or uses their services.

Affiliate marketing is a great work-from-home job for stay-at-home moms. You can do it at any time or day while still caring for your kids.

If you already have a following on social media, leverage that network and start doing affiliate marketing today.

My favorite affiliate networks are ShareAsale and Awin . They have a high acceptance rate for beginner affiliate marketers. Those are the ones I use. You can Awin.com ” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored”>sign up for Awin here . and Join ShareASale here

In-home Dog/cat groomer

One of the moms I interviewed for this article mentioned that she started her own business as a dog and cat groomer.

She does it out of her garage. Her first clients were family members and friends. Through their word of mouth and recommendations, she was able to gain more clients.

She now earns about $2000 a month doing this job.

Content Creator

Content creators are the new wave of work-from-home moms. There’s no better time than now to start a YouTube channel, Ticktock, or Instagram account.

I know how intimidating it is to show your face on camera but there are a ton of other ways to make videos without showing your face.

All you need is a little research. Content creators make good money once they are monetized.

Start a Baby Gear Cleaning Service

The other day, a friend told me that she paid about $300 to get her Upperbaby stroller and accessories cleaned.

I thought she was nuts.

As I thought about it, I realized that I’d never been able to clean my strollers, high chairs, and car seats since I bought them. That’s because of how tedious a job it is.

I would gladly pay that amount to get my baby gear cleaned.

If you can’t start your own service, then you can always sign up for BabyQuip Cleaning Service.

They offer a baby gear cleaning service. They will help you create and manage your own website, and send clients your way.

Rent Out Your Baby Gear

As a mom, you know how difficult it is to pack up for a baby when traveling. You have to worry about a crib, pack-n-play, strollers, and so on.

By the time you pack all the baby gear, there’ll be no more room for your things.

That’s where BabyQuip comes in.

As a BabyQuip contractor, you rent your baby gear to parents traveling to your city. You set the price and can even add delivery fees as well.

There is a $200 cost to sign up for this service, but if you’re serious, you can make back that money in the first month.

I’m actually planning on signing up to become a BabyQuip contractor when my youngest no longer needs all his baby gear. Why not get my money back for them?

Start an In-home daycare

Since you’re already taking care of your kids at home, why not add one or two other kids to the mix as well?

You can watch other people’s kids for a great price. In New York where I live, people charge about 25-40 an hour to babysit depending on the number of kids. The lowest I’ve been charged by a babysitter for my two kids is $25 dollars per hour

Bernadette whom I interviewed for this article says “I stay home and watch other people’s kids. It’s great money and I get to be with my baby all day. I watch 3 kids plus my own and I make $3000 a month doing it”

“An in-home daycare is a perfect work-from-home job for a SAHM. Here’s what another mom Emily says about running an in-home daycare.

I’m an in-home child care provider. My kids are growing up with play dates everyday. Their own momma is always there to kiss their booboos, and I am able to still make sure they’re friends with more good humans too. It’s a win-win” Emily – In-home daycare owner

Start an in-home Laundry business

Many busy people need help doing their laundry. Some are more comfortable paying others to do it for them.

So why not start your own laundry business? You can help other people do their laundry, and charge for pick up and drop off too!

One mom I spoke to said she started her own laundry business and has never looked back.

Here’s what she said

“I pick up and drop off laundry within 48 hours. I started last month and I’m very pleased with the amount of clients I have!”. You can set your own schedule and customize your service however you want. It’s a great WFH job for a stay at home mom”.  In-home laundry business owner

Sell printables on Etsy or Teacher Pay Teachers (TpT)

If you’re skilled in designing planners, kids’ worksheets, and other educational materials, then open an online store.

A lot of people make good money doing this on Etsy or Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT).

I  have an Etsy store myself.

To open a business on Etsy, figure out what you’ve bought in the past from Etsy and make a better version of it. If you’ve bought that product before then there’s probably a good market for it.

Head over to Canva and learn how to use it to make printables. I learned by watching a bunch of YouTube videos. It’s possible to sell printables as a work-from-home job.

Start a Cleaning Business

Another great WAH job for stay-at-home moms is a cleaning business.

This requires you to take your kids with you to the house you’re cleaning.

So it’s not exactly work from home.

I spoke to some women who clean homes and offices on the weekends when their spouses are off from work. This way, there’s always someone watching the kids.

I know three people who pay someone to clean their homes every week because they’re just too busy to do it themselves. The person getting paid could be you if you market your services well.

Go on Facebook groups of people in your area and tell them about your new business. Offer your services for a discounted price until you’ve gathered enough clients. Then you can raise your prices.

If you own your own cleaning business, you get to set the price and the schedule.

Insurance Verification Specialists

If you have any prior experience working in a medical office then you may be qualified to become an insurance verification specialist.

These are people who verify patients’ insurance coverage of a medical procedure. They also verify insurance coverage before a patient is allowed to see a specialist.

I once had an HMO insurance plan that needed me to get prior authorization documents before I could see any specialist.

You would be the person giving me this document if you got this job.

It doesn’t require any college degree. However, most companies require you to have at least a year of experience doing intake work or collecting patient insurance information.

That’s the kind of experience one would get from working at a doctor’s office. Most of the jobs are done from home so it would be a perfect remote job for stay-at-home moms.

Graphic Designer/Logo Designer

If you have experience creating graphics, designing logos, and branding then you should do that online as a SAHM.

You can offer your services to small businesses that need to establish a brand presence.

A great place to start is Fiverr . Create a profile on the platform to advertise your services.

They already have a built-in customer base for graphic designers. So finding clients should be easy.

Start A Print-on-Deman Business

work-from-home jobs, remote jobs, virtual jobs, stay-at-home jobs, WFH jobs, and WAH jobs

Instead of working for someone, why not start your own business? Print-on-demand is a great business that any stay-at-home mom can do.

The way print-on-demand works is that you create a unique design that can be placed on shirts, hats, mugs, sweatpants, tumblers, etc, and sell your designs through a company that does all the legwork for you.

When you get an order for a product, the print-on-demand companies such as Printify will make your shirts, mugs, and other products using your designs.

They will package and ship the product to your customers on your behalf, and help you accept payments. In return, you pay them a small percentage of your profit.

Printify is great in that it has a mockup generator to help you visualize how your designs will look in the shirts, caps, and other products you sell. They give you a lot of support to get your print-on-demand business off the ground.

It’s easy to create designs using a free website like Canva. You can sign up for Printify here.

Sell Life Insurance

Selling life insurance could be a great WFH opportunity for stay-at-home moms.

You can do it remotely and some companies even let you set your own schedule.

The best part is that they provide you with the leads. If you have sales experience already, this could be a good way to use it.

I spoke to Stacey, a SAHM who sells life insurance.

Here’s what she said:

“I sell life insurance. The company I work for allows us to make our own schedules. I usually schedule myself for 4 hours a day. They are currently hiring for part time on linkedin. It can be extremely tough juggling the kids and the work, but I’m happy to be home with them”. Stacey – WFH Life Insurance SaleS

Get Into IT Support

When most women think about working from home, they don’t usually consider a career in IT.

Getting into this field is very lucrative and it’s a perfect WAH job opportunity for stay-at-home moms.

A lot of colleges offer boot camps that allow you to learn IT fundamentals in about 6 months. This will then allow you to apply for entry-level positions in IT.

The good thing about IT is that you can choose to work phone or chat support. You can also work nights so that your kids don’t interrupt your shift.

Become a blogger

That’s right! Blogging is an amazing way to make money online.

I am a blogger and I love it.

As a blogger, you get to help a specific group of people solve a problem. In return, you can get paid in so many different ways.

Here are the various ways that bloggers make money. Affiliate marketing, putting ads on their blog, selling their own products, or coaching services.

As a stay-at-home mom blogger, I get to help other moms like me find ways to make money and save money so they can continue to stay home with their kids.

That’s pretty cool!

Sell your own product

If you make something that everyone keeps telling you to sell, then maybe now is the time.

If you don’t have any such skill, there’s always time to learn.

You can learn to sew, crochet , make soaps , perfumes, candles, wooden toys, etc from Skillshare . The list goes on.

Platforms like Etsy, eBay, and even your own website are great places to sell your own products.

Now that I’ve provided you with a long list of work-from-home jobs you can do as a stay-at-home mom, let’s figure out how to get these jobs.

How can I get a work-from-home job easily?

Use the skills you already have .

To get a work-from-home job easily, you have to leverage your skills.

SAHMS has so many useful skills that they can bring to a career. These are called transferable skills.

Read this article to learn all about the transferable skills you already have as a SAHM .

Learn a new skill that aligns with your ideal job

If you have a particular job in mind that you aren’t qualified for, then take some time to gain more experience.

This could mean going back to school to earn a degree or certification. It could also mean volunteering or working in a related field to gain some experience.

In some cases, you could teach yourself the skill through YouTube videos and online courses.

work from home websites for moms

Use your degree or training

Most people think they have to switch careers in order to get a work-from-home job.

That’s not true.

The best way to get a WFH job is to transition to a remote position in the same field you’re currently in.

So if you were a teacher before, you could teach online or tutor online.

If you were in sales in an office, you can transition into an online sales position or customer service.

It’s easier to use the degree you already have than to start from scratch.

1. Sell Printables on Etsy

If you are stuck thinking of an idea for a side hustle, have you considered creating an Etsy store that sells printables?

You can sell printables on Etsy for a little extra money each month for not much work .

My friend made over $6,000 doing this side hustle!

What are printables?

Printables are digital downloads that a buyer can purchase and print at home. Things like printable trackers and checklists for all kinds of things sell like hot cakes online.

People love buying printables because they get them instantly and can print at their leisure plus they are much cheaper to buy than paper products

The amazing thing about selling printables on Etsy is that you can make them at home in your free time and then sell them again and again.

It’s the perfect side hustle for a mom with young kids who can only work when they are sleeping.

This was my dilemma to be honest. I knew for a few years that I wanted to sell printables on Etsy but I couldn’t work out how to make ones that look professional

Last December I took the E-Printables course by Cody and Julie. and I am loving running my own Etsy shop – its the best stay at home job I’ve ever had.

The videos in the course are step by step and actually taught me what to do.

Open a Shopify Store

If you want to own your own online business,  opening a store on Shopify is a great option for you.

The biggest names on Shopify are making $100,000+ a month selling printables, binders and other online products – from the comfort of home!

We’ll cover everything from why you should open your own Shopify store, how to find products and what the best payment gateways are.

Teach Online With Outschool

If you have kids (and I guess you do because you are reading this article, you have probably heard of Outschool).

Outschool is a platform that connects teachers with students in need of one-on-one attention.

The company strives to help both the student and the teacher by providing a space for learning that’s not confined to classrooms or textbooks.

If you have any kind of skill, you can become an Outschool teacher .

My kids love attending their online classes and have taken Preschool Halloween Math, a Frozen Dance Party and a Fancy Nancy Craft class.

This is one of the best online jobs for stay at home moms because it is such a flexible job. You can set your own class schedule and work whenever you want.

It is a great way for stay at home parents to make some extra money.

If you have expertise in a certain topic, you might have success publishing ebooks on  Amazon Kindle Self-publishing .

Canva is the perfect platform for anyone who needs to create an ebook.

For no money down, I can get my eBook created with this awesome design tool that also has some free templates too so all skill levels are welcome here.

Once designed, publishing takes less than 5 minutes on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

Then once approved by KDP step six occurs automatically which brings me back about 200 bucks monthly passively without doing anything else.

Read my tutorial on Kindle publishing.

Graphic Designers are hired every day to create logos and branding for bloggers.

They also format ebooks, templates , powerpoint presentations or flyers-anything that needs a professional touch!

The great thing is that you can easily get work as a graphic designer using a program such as Canva and this is a fantastic remote job that you can do anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.

Most graphic designers freelance on Fiverr because it’s so easy to get started making money doing what they love best.

Teach Courses on Udemy and other online platforms

Here’s another easy way to make money with no prior experience

If you have a particular skill-set that you could use, consider  creating a course on Udemy and making money teaching online.

I love this idea of making money as it can be a great way of making a passive income for years to come.

Teaching courses on Udemy is a great way for people with no or little experience to make money online.

You can be an expert in any topic, teach about something you love and share your knowledge with the world!

Take a look on the Udemy site and you will see there are courses for literally anything, from how to be a freelance model to ancient history.

If you are teaching on Udemy, it’s important to get feedback from students so that you know what they like/dislike about your course.

Getting testimonials is also a good idea because it will provide social proof which will help more people enroll in your course.

Transcription Services

Transcriptionists are in high demand and it is a relatively easy career to break into.

This is one of the best work at home jobs if you want to make a lot of money and are prepared to do some training courses.

A transcriptionist is someone who listens to recorded speech or music and types out what they hear.

This person not only has to type the words, but they must also punctuate, spell, and include any other special information that was said in the recording.

Medical transcription and legal transcription (court reports) are the most common kinds of transcription services that you can do from home.

Transcription is the perfect job for a stay at home mom because it allows for a flexible schedule and it pays really well.

Plus, you can get started with little to no experience.

For moms who want to work from home and stay connected with clients, this job may be perfect.

Virtual assistants complete many different tasks for their clients including making videos or creating social media posts on behalf of them in order to promote products they’ve branded themselves (e-commerce stores).

Some people might think that working as a virtual assistant requires too much talking and is too difficult with kids around.

In fact, it actually has very little voice interaction during normal business hours when you’re not assisting someone else’s company; instead most duties entail completing paperwork via email correspondence while also managing meetings remotely if necessary.

Other tasks can include:

  • Managing schedules and appointments
  • Editing websites
  • Creating social media posts
  • Coordinating meetings
  • Editing documents
  • Sending emails

It’s a good side hustle to do from home in your spare time and can be very lucrative.

Virtual assistants can easily earn $1000+ working part time from home.

If you are interested in getting started as a VA, I highly recommend checking out this blog post that will help you find virtual assistant jobs that pay well.

Become A Flea Market Flipper

Selling things you find at flea markets or thrift stores for a profit is an awesome side gig that is so much fun.

You can get started for free by looking for no-cost items on the curb or on Craigslist.

Once you have exhausted those options, you can start looking for items that you can buy low and sell high for a profit.

What items are great for flipping for a profit?

Here are the best things that you can buy and sell for a profit, you will probably be surprised at some of the weird things that people buy!

This is a great side hustle for single moms – you might be shocked to learn that there are flea market flippers who make six figures with this side hustle.

Social media managers manage all the social media channels for a brand or business – from creating images and researching hashtags to scheduling content and responding to DMs (direct messages).

This is a great job if you love social media and is great for moms as it is a smart-phone heavy job that you can do at all hours.

What I like about this job is that it is one of the best jobs for stay at home moms with no degree as your expertise in using social media is what is important (although marketing experience will certainly be an asset).

Your tasks as a social media manager may include:

  • Posting in Facebook groups
  • Managing a Facebook Page
  • Creating and updating social media accounts
  • Posting on Instagram and Twitter
  • Responding to DMs

The easiest way to get started with this kind of job is to contact local businesses and ask if they need any help with their social media.

Average rates for social media managers are around $300-1000 a month depending on the hours and scope of the work.

A freelance writer is someone who has the ability to write content for other businesses.

This could be anything from advertising copy, website pages or even blog posts on behalf of clients as opposed to organizations they work with directly.

A freelancer’s writing comes in many forms:

  • Journalism (news articles)
  • Fiction novels and plays
  • Creative nonfiction
  • Copywriting
  • Ghostwriting
  • Blogs and magazine articles

If you are creative and love to write, this might be the perfect work for you.

If you are interested in becoming a freelance writer, my go-to recommendation for freelance writing tips is Gina Horkey.

She is a guru in starting a freelance writing business and has tons of tips on her blog.

This post is packed with great information for you to get started finding freelance writing gigs.

If you like writing, an easy way to get gigs is via a site such as  Textbroker.

They connect authors with different kinds of jobs which takes the marketing part out of running your own writing business.

Fulfilment by Amazon, or retail arbitrage is something I have been intrigued by for a few years.

It is a really highly effective way of making a lot of money from home if you know what you are doing.

What is Amazon FBA? It’s the “art” of buying products at a deep discount and then selling them on Amazon for a huge profit.

It really works and some people like Cliff and Jessica from  The Selling Family make up to 100% profit on their products.

Sell Crafts on Etsy

If you make crafts at home, then Etsy is a great place to sell them online!

You can choose what products to sell and how much they cost.

After making your listings, the only thing left to do is wait for orders!

If you are moderately crafty or good at sourcing crafty materials,  starting a Etsy store might be for you.

One of my friends started a T-shirt business last summer and just sold her 1000th T-shirt via Etsy!

You might be surprised but anything handmade from baby clothes to knitted items all sell really well.

If you have an eye for good quality, brand name items, this can be an amazingly fun business to run!

Proofread For Court Reporters

If you’re a perfectionist at heart, proofreading might be your perfect career.

This business is the stage after transcribing. Once audio has been transcribed, it often needs to be proofread for accuracy and grammar.

Book editors also rely heavily on proofreaders for checking work before it goes to be published.

You take on the task of catching typos and errors in texts such as legal documents or medical articles to make them readable.

Proofreaders also assist with formatting by making sure all paragraphs match up properly according to their designated stylesheet.

This means that there will never again need an extra “em” added into someone’s dialogue because we missed it out when copy editing last week 🙂

This really isn’t just any old 9-5 either, an online proofreader can set their own schedule and work as much or as little as they like.

Although you don’t need any experience to become a proofreader, you can command a higher price if you have some training.

Check out the free webinar by ProofreadAnywhere which will take you through everything you need to know to get started.

You can also check out my list of amazing proofreading jobs that don’t require any experience at all.

Dropshipping

What is dropshipping?

work from home websites for moms

Dropshipping gives you the ability to sell products without keeping any live products in stock. Your online store will promote and sell products, but a third-party supplier will keep the inventory in stock and send the product to the customer.

A popular example of dropshipping is selling T-shirts online.  You would create your own designs and send them to a company such as Printful, who would then print them on demand and ship them to your customer every time you get an order.

Then you can set up a store on a platform such as Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, etc., and connect your account to your printing company.

Whenever a customer purchases a t-shirt from your store, your print-on demand company (Printful, Print Aura, etc.) will automatically print your product and ship it to the customer.

Dropshipping has the potential to become lucrative with the right products and promotion.  Using a marketplace such as Etsy or Amazon can increase your chances of success and get your products in front of a larger audience.

Vlogging has become very popular in the last few years with YouTube, and TikTok has gained momentum all around the world.

The rise of influencers through platforms such as these or Instagram has increased substantially in the last few years.

Did you know that some YouTube channels make millions of dollars each year?

Ryan, from Ryan’s World, makes $26 million a year from his channel, which originally began as an unboxing channel.  Unboxing is when you open toys or other products, and explain how they work and what you think about them.

YouTube allows you to earn money through advertisements once you reach a threshold number of subscribers and views on your videos.

You also have the potential to sell affiliate products to your subscribers as well, which could help you earn extra cash.  This is when you promote brands you love in your videos, then in your description you leave a product link.

As an affiliate, if a subscriber decides to make a purchase through your affiliate link, then you would earn a commission.

Influencers on Instagram can also use affiliate links in their stories and bios to make extra money.  A great way for influencers on Tik Tok and Instagram to earn money is by accepting paid sponsorships.

This means you would reach out to companies (or they reach out to you), and you would promote their brand on your account.  In return for your promotion to your followers, they would either pay you or give you products for free.

All of these options would take a while to earn money until you grow a large audience.

Create a product or course on Teachable

One way that bloggers earn extra money is by selling online courses or products through their websites.

If you are an expert at a specific skill such as social media, SEO, marketing, vlogging, keyword research, or another topic that people want to learn about, then you could create your own course around that topic to sell to others online.

Customers will be interested in taking courses that can accelerate their career growth, even if they have a larger price tag.

Make and sell crafts

Do you know how to sew or knit? If you love to make products such as blankets, sweaters, bows, quilts, and more, you could sell them.

If you own a  Cricut   or   Silhouette , you have even more crafts you could create.  Some great ideas are creating decals, wooden signs, decorations, wedding invitations, party supplies, T-shirts, jewelry, and more.

If you decide to use an online marketplace such as an Etsy shop, you can start selling your products quicker because they already have consumers who are looking to make purchases.

Creating a business page on Facebook to sell your products to your friends and family is another way you could generate money from your business.  You could also set up a booth at a local craft market.

10 Legitimate Websites to Look for Work From Home Jobs for Moms

Working from home always seemed like having the best of both worlds. Through working from home, moms have the opportunity to earn and support the family and stay home to look after their children. As with anything else, being a work-at-home mom has its own challenges, but for most WAHMs, the advantages almost always outweigh the disadvantages.

But recently, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home evolved from being an option that could be afforded by some to a necessity for most.

More people are working from home now more than ever. For most businesses, getting the employees to work from home solves the problem of limiting physical contact in the workplace. People had to make major adjustments as the atmosphere of the workplace is quite different from the atmosphere at home.

Unfortunately, for many businesses, allowing the employees to work from home is not even an option. Because of the economic impacts of the pandemic, many businesses are forced to reduce their staff or reduce working hours or even close down permanently.
