Jazz @ Presentation House Studio

Jared Burrows and Clyde Reed continue to program great shows at the Presentation House Studio.

Come out and support this effort entering its third year.

Jazz at Presentation House Studio This is an artist-run weekly series embracing the full spectrum of jazz

and improvised music from trad to post-bop, free improv to world music fusions.

Presentation House Studio is an historic former church with excellent

acoustics where the audience can be up close and personal with

the musicians. It is easily accessible by public transit and is located

just a few blocks from Lonsdale Quay. Lots of free parking.

Come and join us for great music and a relaxed weeknight hangout.

333 Chesterfield Avenue (3rd St. one block west of Lonsdale), North Vancouver Wednesdays at 8:00pm. Admission $10 at the door. Free tea and cookies. contact jaredburrows AT hotmail for more info. October 12 Sawyer/Reed/Burrows Musical friends improvise chamber music, spontaneous poetry,

fragments of text and textures, songs and sounds from the

depths of heart and head. Carol Sawyer (voice), Clyde Reed (bass),

Jared Burrows (guitar).

October 19 Coat Cooke and Joe Poole Saxophonist Coat Cooke and drummer Joe Poole

play here together in the most pared down collaboration

that improvisation offers, the duo. Come and hear this dynamic pairing. The excitement that

they feel in improvising together is visibly and audibly palpable to the listener.

October 26 Branter/Burrows Quartet Alto saxophonist David Branter and guitarist Jared Burrows are

joined by the hard-swinging rhythm section of Dave Robbins

on drums and Al Johnston on bass for a set of originals and standards.

The 26th is also Hugh Fraser's birthday so expect a tune or two from Hugh's great songbook.

November 2 TBA

November 9 Jillian Lebeck Quartet Singer and pianist Jillian Lebeck presents an evening of her fantastic original tunes. http://www.jillianlebeck.com/

Presented by Electric Company Theatre, Innovation Lighting and Presentation House Theatre

“In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary” – Aaron Rose

The Magic Hour is an immersive, walk-through, theatrical experience; a light-charged story of finding beauty in small moments and possibility within domestic isolation. Created and conceived by award-winning theatre director Kim Collier with playwright Kendra Fanconi, the individual experience invites you to embark on a solo room-by-room exploration of familiar, yet-transformed spaces at Presentation House Theatre. The destination of this curious and magical journey is a reflection on an unprecedented year – and a step forward into a brave new world.

Guided through scenes by rich audio, video, lighting, and stagecraft, and created in collaboration with Vancouver’s Innovation Lighting and Presentation House Theatre, Collier describes the piece as “a love song for the possibility of change in even the most static of situations”. The Magic Hour explores the routes of the imagination; the physical world meets the digital world, blending art, design, music, and text in a multi-layer mixed-media feast for the senses.

More about The Magic Hour Experience

Created in early 2021, and originally intended to premiere in late April, The Magic Hour was developed with the global pandemic in mind, both creatively and practically. After a year of cultural sacrifices, return to the theatre safely, and be enveloped by this electrical storm of a show. Timed individual entry slots and isolated rooms support public health measures, while also creating a personalized experience, unique for each person that walks-through. The Magic Hour is a show for you and made with you – just you, and only you.

While the show is specifically designed for an individual audience member, a tandem experience can be booked within your household bubble but may impact certain elements of the installation experience.

Trump accepts 'Nebraska Walz' family endorsement: 'It is a great honor'

by JACKSON WALKER | The National Desk

WASHINGTON (TND) — Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday took to Truth Social to accept a supposed endorsement from the family of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

An image which surfaced on social media shows a group of people wearing shirts claiming to be “Nebraska Walz’s for Trump.” Users were quick to point out the inaccurate punctuation of the governor’s name and questioned whether it could be a product of artificial intelligence. The National Desk (TND) could not immediately verify the authenticity of the image.

Trump touted the image as a supposed endorsement from within his political opponent’s presidential campaign.

“Thank you very much, Jeff,” Trump wrote, referring to Gov. Walz's brother. “It is a Great Honor to have your Endorsement. I look forward to meeting you soon!”

Representatives of the Harris-Walz campaign did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday about the image.

Walz spoke with CNN last week in the first major sit-down interview of his White House bid. During that conversation, he admitted to having misspoke about his military record when he claimed to have carried guns “in war.”

“I said – we were talking about in this case, this was after a school shooting – the idea of carrying these weapons of war,” Walz said alongside his running mate. “My wife, the English teacher, told me my grammar is not always correct.”

CNN anchor David Chalian this month also challenged Gov. Walz over a suggestion his family used IVF treatment. The governor's wife has explained she underwent a different fertility treatment despite Gov. Walz suggesting otherwise.

“This is a head-scratcher politically,” he said. “Just have your facts right if you’re going to come out and you’re going to tell the story.”
