The government of Taiwan, other organizations, and your respective colleges also provide scholarships for international students. Being offered a scholarship does not guarantee admission to NTU, and vice versa.

The scholarships on this page are exclusively for degree students (undergraduate and graduate). For scholarships of non-degree programs (exchange and visiting), please contact your home university. For scholarships available to students already enrolled at NTU, please refer to Scholarships for Current Students .

Entry requirements

Applicants for PhD  should normally hold a first or upper second class honours degree of a UK university or an equivalent qualification, or a lower second class honours degree with a master’s degree at Merit level of a UK university or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants for Professional Doctorates will be well-qualified in their chosen field and will normally have already gained a related master’s degree or equivalent qualification, together with sufficient professional experience in the relevant field. Typically, an applicant will have a minimum of 5-7 years’ relevant professional experience.

Applicants for part-time study within Business should consult the University Doctoral School about whether a traditional PhD or the DBA is most appropriate.

Applicants for part-time Professional Doctorate study in education, social practice or legal practice should also contact the Doctoral School or the relevant course leader for advice about whether a part-time PhD or a Professional Doctorate is more appropriate.

English Language Requirements for all research degree programmes

You will need an overall IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.5 with minimum sub-scores of 6.0 in all component sections (writing, reading, listening and speaking).

Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarships (NPGS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore

The Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a PhD at NTU.

Who is eligible? There is no restriction as to the nationality of candidates but all things being equal, preference will be given to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents.

Eligibility criteria

• You must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent at Bachelor ’s level
• If you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree programme, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get a First Class Honours degree or equivalent

Bond There is no bond attached to the scholarship.

In addition to the monthly stipend, the award also covers the annual tuition fee .

For scholars who pass the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination/Confirmation, he/she may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $500 per month. The increased in stipend is subjected to good performance in research and the attainment of required standards for courses taken. The University reserves the right to vary the amount of the stipend at any time by written notice.

• You are eligible for this scholarship if you are a local or international student seeking admission as a full-time candidate pursuing a Graduate Research programme at NTU.
• You must have a minimum of Honours (Distinction) or its equivalent.

Nie phd scholarship.

• You are a local or international student seeking admission as a full-time candidate for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme at NIE
• You have a Bachelor's degree with honours at least at Second Class Upper level, Master's degree in the relevant areas and the ability to pursue research in your proposed field of advanced study
• You must not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award
• There shall be no bond of service in Singapore attached to the scholarship.
• The scholarship shall be tenable for one (1) year in the first instance and renewed annually subject to the scholar's satisfactory progress. The maximum period of award is four (4) years from the date of admission into the PhD programme.
• The monthly stipend is shown in the table below. 

1 Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Disciplines

2 Social Science & Humanities (SSH) Disciplines

• For Singapore Citizens, Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions shall be provided at a rate pegged to the prevailing employer's contribution rate set by CPF, on top of the monthly stipend received.
• For scholars who pass the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination/Confirmation, he/she may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $500 per month. The increase in stipend is subject to good performance in research and the attainment of required standards for courses taken. The University reserves the right to vary the amount of the stipend at any time by written notice.
• The scholarship award will also cover the annual tuition fee.
• Students must perform teaching/ laboratory supervision duties to fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Assistantship Programme (GAP).

No separate form is required for the application of National Institute of Education PhD Scholarship. Candidates may apply for the scholarship by indicating in the online application form.
