Words of Gratitude (Graduation & Moving Up Ceremonies)

Started 1 year ago by teachersportalph in School Events , Graduation Events

Please describe the reason with violated rule

Explore heartfelt words of gratitude for graduation. Find inspiration, sample speeches, and tips for crafting your gratitude message here.

I. understanding words of gratitude.

Words of gratitude for graduation are expressions of appreciation and thanks delivered during a graduation ceremony. These messages can be a part of a speech delivered by a student representative or can be written in a graduation card or letter. The purpose is to recognize the support, guidance, and contributions of individuals such as teachers, parents, friends, and others who have played a crucial role in the students' journey to this significant milestone.

II. Crafting Words of Gratitude

Writing words of gratitude for a graduation involves acknowledging the support, encouragement, and love provided by those around you during your academic journey. Here are the steps to guide you:

Address All Relevant Parties: Identify all individuals who have contributed to your journey such as teachers, parents, friends, administrative staff, and fellow classmates.

Mention Special Contributions: Highlight the special or outstanding support you received from individuals, such as a teacher who went the extra mile, a friend who was there during tough times, or your parents for their unwavering support.

Recall Important Experiences: Share memorable or impactful experiences. These could be a challenging assignment, a class project, or any other significant memory that will resonate with your audience.

Show Genuine Gratitude: Express your heartfelt gratitude. Speak from the heart to let those you are thanking know how much their support and encouragement meant to you.

Keep It Simple and Direct: Your message does not need to be complex. A clear, sincere message is often appreciated more.

Wish Everyone Well: Conclude by wishing everyone well in their future endeavors.

III. Sample Words of Gratitude for Graduation

Honored Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. ________, and her representative, Education Program Specialist 1-A, Division Mathematics Supervisor ________; Alumna Speaker, ________.; District-in-charge, ________; School Heads of Prosperidad IV; our Brgy. Council, led by Barangay Captain, ________; School Head, Mrs. ________; GPTA President, ________; dedicated teachers, supportive parents, my fellow graduates, and all distinguished guests - good afternoon.

Actor Ed Helms once said, "Do not be afraid of fear because it sharpens you, it challenges you, it makes you stronger." This quote has stuck with me since my first day at ________ National High School. At first, it was tough. Some people didn't believe in me. But I worked hard, achieved a lot, and turned these challenges into motivation.

When I entered Senior High School, my responsibilities grew. My mom works overseas to support us, so as the eldest child, I had to care for my siblings. This forced me to mature quickly. I became both a caregiver and a student, struggling to balance school work and home duties. But these experiences made me independent and goal-oriented, and surprisingly, brought me here to speak on our graduation day.

Firstly, I want to thank God, the source of all our accomplishments. We wouldn't be here without His guidance.

To my parents, a simple thank you doesn't express my deep gratitude. Your unwavering support has been invaluable. I also want to thank my loving grandma, who has been like a second mother to me.

To the teachers of ________ National High School, thank you for your tireless support and for sharing your knowledge with us. We are proud to be your students.

To my classmates, your daily support meant a lot to me. I will always cherish the moments we shared, through good times and bad.

And lastly, to my closest friends, thank you for your advice, for listening when times were tough, and for being there when I needed you most. I apologize if I was sometimes immature.

Thank you, and congratulations to the Class of 2023!

IV. Delivering Your Words of Gratitude

Delivering words of gratitude can be a powerful way to express your appreciation. Here are some tips to make your delivery effective:

Be Authentic: Speak from the heart to make your message truly powerful.

Personalize Your Message: Share specific examples of how the person or people you're thanking have helped you to make your message more impactful.

Practice: Practice your speech multiple times to become familiar with it and deliver it with confidence.

Keep It Brief: A concise, focused speech is often more powerful than a long one.

Use Eye Contact: Engage your listeners by making eye contact during your delivery.

Use a Warm, Grateful Tone: The tone of your speech is as important as your words. Convey your sincere gratitude by speaking in a warm, heartfelt tone.

Stay Calm and Composed: Even though it's natural to feel nervous, try to stay calm and focused on your message.

End on a Positive Note: Conclude your speech with a positive and uplifting message.

V. Share Your Words of Gratitude

To all our readers, if you have your own words of gratitude, we invite you to share them in the comments section below. Your unique expressions of thanks can inspire others and help someone else articulate their feelings. Whether they're words for a graduation, a family gathering, or a quiet moment of thanks, we invite you to share them. GRADUATION SPEECH: Do not be afraid of failing, as long as you keep learning, you keep winning!

  • Aubrei Nicole C. Ipulan
  • March 25, 2018

(Words of Gratitude delivered at the Liceo de Cagayan University’s Grade 12 (Words of Gratitude delivered at the Liceo de Cagayan University’s Senior High School graduation on 22 March 2018 by Aubrei Nicole C. Ipulan, 18, one of three who graduated With Highest Honors but who topped overall among 1,454 graduates of the pioneering K-12 Class 2018 of the Cagayan de Oro City-based university.

…University officials, dear parents, beloved teachers, fellow Liceans, good afternoon.

As I am standing here behind this podium, I cannot help but remember all the other times I have been given the privilege to speak on behalf of my batch: two years ago, in tenth grade, I expressed my words of gratitude; in sixth grade, I delivered my Valedictory Speech, and in Kinder 2, I gave my first Welcome Address.

I was standing there at the center and did not know to whom I shall turn my head whenever I greeted the university officials. So young and naive. Now, I am yet again having an exceptional chance to share my insights, personally express my gratefulness, and of course, speak on behalf of you, my fellow graduates.

Albert Einstein, developer of the Quantum Theory and Theory of Relativity. Thomas Alva Edison, inventor of the incandescent bulb and phonograph. Bill Gates, founder of the largest software business, Microsoft. Steve Jobs, co-founder of the revolutionary Apple computers. Mark Zuckerburg, creator of the world’s most used social media, Facebook.

What do you think are with these men that made me mention them now? Yes, they all had great contributions in everyone’s lives and they are all school drop outs. But that does not mean that we need to stop schooling in order to succeed. They had their own reasons for their decisions. We all have different ways in building ourselves in accordance with our perception of our own success.

Our journey in our Senior High School life was like a roller coaster ride – not because we had our fair share of ups and downs but because of the plot twists we experienced all throughout these years. May I see a raise of hands: Who among you here tried having failing marks in exams? Who has had days of community service due to extensive number of tardiness? Who has gone crying due to Research? Who has thought of giving up? Who wanted to succeed?

You see, we have faced innumerable challenges and surpassed all of them because of our will to succeed. We may have thought of giving up at the middle of the stormy days, but our dreams were bigger than our problems. We say ayoko na but our action does laban pa . You see, what’s good with us Filipinos is our resiliency. We can easily recover from any mishaps: we stand up after tumbling into hardships bringing with us new lessons we’ve learned. We stand up through challenges stronger than before. Why is that so? Because we see failures as our building blocks towards forming a better version of ourselves.

For one, I’ve also had my fair share of hardships and struggles. If your opinions about me are based on my rank now, thinking that life for me must have been easy, that I do not cram when there’s surprise quiz, that I do not problematize Research, Chemistry, Physics
 then you are all wrong.

In Kindergarten, I’d been ashamed of myself because I forgot my lines during the story telling contest I joined. In Grade School, I experienced getting zero in my Math quiz because I subtracted the numbers instead of adding them, but that taught me to be more cautious of my work. In High School, I almost got zero again in a test because I failed to read the instructions which said “answer in all capital letters”. Good thing our teacher gave consideration to all those students who answered in lower cases that time.

Pressure – that is my greatest enemy but it also played an important role in building myself. My teachers expect too much from me. My classmates look up to me. You may think that the feeling must be so great but for me. It is not. My mistakes are easily noticed and they easily judge me based on those mistakes. I get low scores too and even sometimes spend the night crying because I do not know how to balance my responsibilities anymore then end up failing the people who believed in me.

Fellow Liceans, I am openly expressing myself because I want you to realize that anything that happened to us in the previous years, even the smallest of things, has contributed a lot to our humanity. I want you to accept your flaws because that made you who you are today.

As we have come to end of our Senior High School journey, let us not forget to acknowledge the values of gratitude we’ve inculcated and humility coupled with our faith in our Almighty Creator. This paves the way for us to reach this point in our life and achieve these fruits of our labor. So many people had a hand in our success. Let us all thank them and give them a round of applause:

To our classmates for giving us treasure-worthy experiences, for all the uphill battles we’ve overcome together, for the efforts each has exerted for the betterment of the class, and for all the merriment, indulgence, and trips that made us take a break from the stressful process of education; to our friends for flashing a genuine smile on our faces and for not letting us do or face situations alone, for backing us up every time; to our parents for selflessly giving us the support we need, financially and emotionally; to our teachers and advisers who inspire us a lot as they themselves continue to demonstrate integrity in what they do and for being so extra in making this graduation ceremony as perfect as it can be, for extending beyond their working hours just to prepare everything , and personally, I would like to thank them all for bestowing upon me their trust and confidence, for believing in my capabilities even when I doubt myself; to the Maintenance Department for keeping our environment conducive for learning; to our security guards for ensuring our safety inside the campus premises; to Nong Bing and his team for being with us to capture all the momentous events in our lives; to the Liceo Band for patiently practicing with us these previous days and for the past years and to all those remaining others who act truly behind the stage and of course; to Liceo de Cagayan University, for molding us into better citizens of our country and for instilling in our hearts and minds the values of excellence, integrity, loyalty, discipline, and service; and most especially to our Creator, regardless of our religions, for His guidance, understanding, and love. Without Him, we would have not been able to reach this point of our lives.

More importantly, I would like to express my deepest and sincerest gratitude to my family for not pushing me too hard, for their encouragement, and for being sensitive with and understanding of what I feel; to my mother who knows me so well, for standing by my side and defending me in times of need; to my father who reminds me to rest whenever I am bombarded with tasks and for patiently listening to my whines especially when we are stuck in a heavy traffic; to my sisters and their better halves for knowing so well the best way to comfort me; and to my niece and nephew who never fail to wipe away any bad vibes in my system.

To my family, thank you so much for the laughter, tears, comfort, patience, care, and love. I cannot express any further how thankful I am to have you as my example in everything. Above all, I would like to thank God for guiding me all throughout everything, for hearing and answering my prayers, and most especially, for blessing me with superb people who continue to provide me the guidance to do what is just and right.

Despite all the challenges, there are a lot to thank for. Personally and sincerely, thank you all for being part of this wonderful and meaningful journey.

Plants grow better during rainy days. Fellow graduates, let us not forget the struggles we faced and the important lessons in life we learned during our education process no matter how dark and hurtful the past was. Let us bear in mind that these are our foundation in building a sturdier version of ourselves.

This graduation ceremony is a great manifestation of the hard work, sweat, and tears we’ve invested in our education. Let us congratulate each other for overcoming those challenges and for being able to reach this far.

Even the best fall down sometimes. Even the wrong words seem to rhyme. Out of the doubt that fills my mind, I somehow find, you and I collide. Let us not worry ourselves for failing because it is through our failures that we learn better. Failing means having a time to breathe, having a time to rethink things, having a space to grow. It serves as a redirection in our lives.

Everyone fails but not all who fail is a failure for failures are only for those who did not have the courage to stand up after they fall. We will fail
but, we will never give up. Let this be our mantra for the rest of our challenging lives. Do not be afraid of failing,  as long as you keep learning, you keep winning!

Gratuliere alles! Vielen dank und Guten Tag! Congratulations everyone! Thank you very much and good afternoon! May the speed force be with us all!

9 Memorable Pinoy Graduation Speeches

words of gratitude speech for graduation tagalog

We have heard inspiring commencement speeches from the world over, but no one can pierce the Pinoy heart deeper than fellow Filipinos with their well-chosen words of wisdom. In honor of the toga-tossing season, here are some of the wittiest, fiercest and most heartfelt local graduation speeches that we should all listen to– whether you’re fresh out of school, or a professional meant to write your own such speech someday.

1. Manny V. Pangilinan

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 2015 The PLDT, Meralco and TV5 Chairman shares the secret recipe for success: that there is none.

words of gratitude speech for graduation tagalog

“What accounts for success? There is no magic, no mystery, no secret recipe.  Success springs from values as basic and old-fashioned as being honest and truthful, working hard, playing fair, setting goals, discipline, and determination to pursue them. Most of all, success is about passion. Passion to succeed. Passion to compete. Passion for excellence. Commitment to succeed can overcome poverty.

A spirit of purpose can give impetus to human energy, ambition can set heroic goals and achieve them. But let me add this – you can’t succeed if you’re afraid to fail. I’ve known how to lose – not just once, but many times.  Boldness to take risks, guts to decide and act – these are strengths.  Paano ka makaka-score, if you don’t shoot that ball?

Remember that you can afford to fail because you’re young. Successes tell you that you can attain more successes in the future. But failures tell you that you can survive and move on.  Sabi nga ni JK Rowling: “It’s impossible to live without failing at something, unless you’ve lived so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all.” Read the full speech here .

2. Lisa Macuja-Elizalde

Ateneo de Manila University, 2015 The world-renowned Filipina ballerina gives eight lessons inspired by the “eight counts” used in ballet.

words of gratitude speech for graduation tagalog

  • Decide and commit to something that you are passionate about.
  • No pain, no gain
Nothing can take the place of hard work – not even talent.
  • Whatever your goal, get good at it!
  • Honor your emotions and acknowledge your fears.
  • Treat every time you get to practice your profession as a performance. Don’t save your best effort for another day
Always give 100% so you never have to regret anything. But BE PREPARED.
  • Do something crazy. Do something that defies all logic at least once in your life. You never know what could happen from there.
  • One of the hardest decisions you’ll ever face in life is choosing whether to walk away or try harder.
  • Serve. Offer yourself to a cause bigger than your own needs or ambition.

3. Winnie Monsod

last lecture to her UP Economics class, 2010 “Please don’t cheat” whether in school or in life, warns the fierce economist, because you will only be contributing to the problem, instead of being part of the solution..

“Can you assure me that, as a leader, you are going to, right now, until you finish your courses, are you going to act with honor and integrity? Because I’m going to tell you class, you think cheating is something that is very unusual? It’s very usual in the University [of the Philippines] and this is what bothers me so much.

Because you do not have to cheat. And cheating in the small things is going to lead to cheating in the large things. And all these people that you have contempt for, because they are corrupt, because they are cheating, are people who may have in fact, been part of the university. As a matter of fact, if you think about it – I keep on telling this because we are always so proud, UP  tayo, ha ! I think 6 of the, the majority of presidents of the Philippines came from UP.

The majority of the Supreme Court Chief Justices come from UP. The majority of the Speakers of the House come from UP. The majority of the Senate Presidents come from UP. Eh, saan tayo ngayon? [Where are we now?] “If they were so good, why are we where we are now? And so you have to ask yourselves that. And part of the reason is that we have always looked at excellence, and not at honor and integrity.”

4. Jose Dalisay, Jr.

University of the Philippines Baguio, 2005 The award-winning writer and former chairman of UP Diliman’s English Department, who took 14 years to finish college, leaves the students with five life lessons.

words of gratitude speech for graduation tagalog

“Let me end with five brief exhortations, of the kind we’ve been hearing since elementary school: First, read a good book. Not another novel, if you’re already a writer, nor another paper on the molecular theory of turbulence if you’re already a physicist. Perhaps we should exchange books, for the purpose of – using one famous definition of education- turning an empty mind into an open one. Second, learn how to play the guitar. By this I mean find some form of artistic expression, or some source of artistic pleasure.

The solace of art is often the truest and the most enduring. Third, learn how to swim. Be independent, and learn how to fend for yourself. But also learn how to swim so you can save others from drowning. Lord knows this country needs all the lifeguards it can find. Fourth – and they didn’t say this in grade school – have fun.

Too many academic papers deal with the sources of our sorrows – as if we didn’t know them already. Give us something to feel good about, and find us the way to happiness, now and forever. It doesn’t sound like a scholar’s task, but if happiness isn’t worth our minds and labors, what is? Lastly, get a life – and get a good one.”  Read the full speech here .

5. Lourd de Veyra  – University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication, 2012 The multi-awarded writer and “Word of the Lourd” host delivers a humorous and unconventional graduation speech.

“Unannounced changes in life’s itinerary are like dancing lessons from God.”  Napakagandang ideya. Napaka-akmang metapora.  Dancing lesson. I refuse to believe in a God who does not know how to dance.”

6. Archbishop Antonio Luis Cardinal Tagle

Ateneo de Manila University, 2013 The archbishop offers a God-centered advice for all of us to heed.

“If we look at the three keywords — to praise God, to reverence God, to serve God — the purpose of the human person is to get out of our confinement, to get out of our shells, to get out of ourselves, and to reach out to God in praise, in reverence, and in service. And it is only by losing ourselves that we find our true selves.” “If your purpose is clear, and it is not directed to self-promotion and self-propagation then you can really be an asset to society and to the world.”

7. Ryan Cayabyab

University of the Philippines, 2005 The Maestro does not only compose beautiful music and lyrics, but is also capable of crafting a memorable speech with witty school and life analogies.

  • Sa UP, lahat tayo magaling.

8. Roselle Ambubuyog

summa cum laude, Ateneo de Manila, 2001 The visually-impaired BS Mathematics graduate shows us “the light in the darkness by the light of the stars” in this inspirational speech.

words of gratitude speech for graduation tagalog

“We thank our mentors for being good teachers from whom we learn a lot. But I am certain that each of us has encountered teachers who helped us best by becoming students themselves: open to learning new things, developing better methods, nurturing our true potentials.” “Even if fears persist to hinder us from achieving something, what really matters is the shift from “I can’t do it,” to “I can try”.

I went beyond my impairment by doing not only what sighted people can do, but also what they sometimes are too frightened to try.” “Everyone experiences disabilities one way or another; mine is just more obvious than yours. We are all fortunate to have loved ones, who help us bear the burdens brought about by our weaknesses.

We may find ourselves in the dark, but we should not be afraid to move forward, because we have the light of our stars to count on, and to be thankful for.”  Read the full speech here .

9. Anna Kristina Arce

magna cum laude, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 2009 The Applied Deaf Studies graduate, who majored in Multimedia Arts, speaks to our hearts with a message worth more than words could ever explain.

https://youtu.be/dh_Qjbe4r1Y

“We may be Deaf persons but we can also do anything you can do, except hear. Communicating with our hands should not make a difference. We live in one country, one world. That means we also long for respect, inclusion in accessibility, and acceptance with dignity.

We are not a different breed because of our disability. We also want to live in a society where people will not stare or frown at us or treat us differently. We are also human beings and we are similar regardless of our disability. Please allow us to show you what we can do, please believe in us too. Let us prove to you that, yes, the Deaf can!”

Graduation speech inspired by Lloyd Luna

  • Sample Speeches Philippines
  • Graduation speech inspired by Lloyd…
This graduation speech, inspired by Motivational Speaker Lloyd Luna was delivered by Kevin Yambao

Honorable Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Honorable Congresswoman Lani Cayetano, Honorable Mayor Freddie Tiñga, our superintendent Dr. Norma Ablan Adamos, our principal Mr. George P. Tizon, department coordinators, 4th year advisers, teachers, parents, distinguished guests, co-graduates, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant evening to all of you.

Kevin Yambao Graduation Speech was inspired by Lloyd Luna

I am greatly honored and flattered to have been asked to speak for this very, very wonderful occasion. I promise, as King Henry the VIII allegedly promised each of his wives, “Don’t worry, I won’t keep you long.” This speech will last for 5 minutes and 2 hours.

I’m sure everyone knows what a corn seed is. When you plant a corn seed on a healthy soil, you don’t get a corn seed but a corn, right? It’s because the harvest is always greater than what is planted as long as we nurtured them properly. This applies to what we are right now.

And so, my fellow graduates, we are gathered here tonight to reap more than all the combined product of the thirst, hunger, exhaustion, & sleepless nights we encountered en route to this exciting moment.

As we happily walk our way up to this stage, but please do not take it literally, we sometimes falter and fumble. We have already heard inspiring stories of successful people, and as I have noticed, failure is the common ingredient that seemed to add flavor to the final dish of what they have cooked.

When I was a child, I loved music so much and I dreamed of becoming a professional musician. I even thought of enrolling in some of the prestigious conservatory school of music in the Philippines, but my family couldn’t afford it.

I didn’t turn out to be a full-fledged musician.

During my elementary days, I always dreamed of being the best. I strived hard and managed to be consistently on top of the class. Because of the social issues that occurred between me and my teachers, I was not able to make it to the top when I was on my 6th grade.

I didn’t become the valedictorian.

These failures made me stronger. True, what I’ve just shared to you are my sad experiences. But these experiences didn’t bring me down because I didn’t want them drag me down. I know there are still a lot of things like this out there waiting for me, but always remember what Robert H. Schuller reminded us, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.” Also, remember that “Day always follows the night as there’s rain after summer.” I managed to survive the rainy season and am now starting to work on summer. Are you experiencing the night of your life right now? Don’t worry; you will have your day after the night. The sun will rise and it’s rising very soon.

Today, as you leave with a diploma on hand, remember the encounters, the good times as well as the bad times you’ve experienced at Senator Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial Science & Technology High School that made us a better person. Bear in mind the promises you made to yourself and others. Keep in contact with those who have touched your lives. Come back and visit our Alma Mater!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the God Almighty, my guardian angels, Lola, Ate Neneth, my family for their encouragement, unconditional love and support, my teachers who discussed not only what is in store in their lesson plan but also the lessons of life, my fellow schoolmates who took part in molding my personality and were always considerate during difficult times. Let us also take time today to thank the people behind the success of this momentous event.

The Cayetanos namely His Honorable Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and his wife Honorable Congresswoman Lani Cayetano, Honorable Senator Pia Cayetano and most especially the late Honorable Senator Rene “Compañero” Cayetano, last but not the least the energetic and exciting, disciplinarian but compassionate, our principal George Tizon. The sacrifices of these people lead us to this fruitful accomplishment. Let us give them a big hand. (clap)

Thank you! I am going to miss the days we have spent together. Keep our dreams alive! And finally, please let me end this speech with a quote from the ever famous Winston Churchill, “Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It is courage that counts.”

God bless you all.
