Beauty is relative, as they say, “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” There is now not a single set meaning, value or definition for beauty. It is a collectively iffy notion due to the fact its definition exclusively lies on observation. Therefore, each has their ideas with regards to beauty. It is via one’s view and opinion. Beauty is not just about the outward appearance of a individual neither is it about the heart and the qualities of a person being compassionate and kind. There is an absolute splendor in everything; we just need to recognize it.People exactly observe different objects, on the other hand, humans define beauty according to their previous experiences. Each person has their definition of beauty, and others convince their fellows to consent with their views with regards to beauty (Wolf et al., pp. 12). The physical appearance of an object or a person does not fully speak of their beauty. Preferably, it is a conscious experience to one’s intellect, eyes, ears, and moral sense. Beauty is expressed from within the heart of an individual. People are motivated by inner strength of character, and this leads to a perception that someone has a beautiful soul.People often appreciate beauty in other people or objects in their environment, and they acknowledge what they feel and see. For instance, most men appreciate a confident and physically attractive woman. These qualities charm most men, and as a result, they value her and take pleasure in being associated with her. Such a beautiful woman gets appreciation from all people in the society, even her fellow women. According to Wolf, recognition of beauty is transmitted through the use of senses. People appreciate beauty owing to the pleasure they derive from an individual, a thought or an object.If humans took time to analyze everything that lies within their horizons, they would discover that there is beauty in almost everything that the eye comes across. Aggregate qualities in an object or a person that pleasurably exalts the mind or gives pleasure to the senses result to beauty. Different people find beauty in various objects, persons, qualities, and ideas. I am of the opinion that if we looked carefully at people and objects within our environment, we would be thrilled by the undisputable beauty that lies within them. There is a chance to discover beauty even in some of the things that we neglect.The secret to beauty has been having been a human quest over time. Both men and women spend a great deal of their income on grooming and beauty enhancement. The beauty industry has grown and diversified over time, products and procedures that enhance the looks of a person increase day after day. It is true that many people spend time on the mirror worrying, fretting, scrutinizing or wishing they could change a thing or two about their appearance. Today’s technology exposes us to trends in the beauty industry, and there is increased awareness on beauty products and procedures. We want to look like a particular model, have our eyebrows on point, have a shapely body and a smooth skin or even acquire a specific perfume.There is no consistency in the definition of beauty. Qualities that result to beauty change over time and from one person to another (Gunes et al., pp 93). People express different views on beauty, what one person considers attractive and beautiful may be what the other person finds unappealing. However, people’s ideas of beauty have continually been influenced by others, the trends, social media, and fashion. Nevertheless, opinions on what is beautiful and what is not still differing among different people, societies, and social classes. Therefore, the definition of beauty lies within an individual.Beauty is not about the outward appearance of an object or a person. Qualities that amount to beauty go far beyond the visible (Peitgen et al., pp 47). Appearance is deceitful, and that is the reason as to why we commonly say that we should not judge a book by its cover. A person or an object may appeal to the eye yet from a closer look and observation of its qualities be undesirable and ugly. Good physical looks do not define entirely the beauty that lies within a person or an object. On the other hand, physical appearance may, in some cases, be enhanced by the beauty of a person’s qualities. There are times that we fall in love with the merits of an object or a person then later acknowledge its physical beauty.In conclusion, beauty is an aspect that has no fundamental definition, and there are no set qualities or aspects leading to elegance. People’s opinion on what is beautiful is different, and it is dependent on a person’s past experiences, social class, and taste. People are influenced to have a standard inclination with regards to beauty due to current trends, social media influence, and fashion. However, there is still a distinction in people’s ideas and definition of beauty. Close observation of people and objects leads to a wholesome discovery of beauty that lies within those people or objects. There is always more to everything that meets the eye. This proverb beauty is in the eye of beholder is very famous among all. It actually means that one can see beauty in everything if he wants to.

This proverb is being used from 3 century BC by Greeks. It has undergone many transitions and used by different authors with the passage of time but it was used in its current form by Margaret Wolfe Hungerford in her book ‘Molly Baron’ which was released in 1878.  

Beauty is an abstract notion. It cannot be quantified. What is found beautiful by one person might not be attractive to another.

If a person seeks out beauty, he can find beauty in everything; he can find beauty in everything. Beauty is not just about the external appearance and the looks but it is about the soul of a person.

The difference between beautiful and pretty or handsome is that the words pretty and handsome are more concerned with the external beauty of a person.

But when a person is called beautiful, it is about the inner and external appearance as well. What matters is your heart.

On your funeral, you will not be remembered as the one who had an expensive couch and Ralph Lauren sandals. But you will be remembered by the deeds you have done, the way you have touched hearts and your relationships with others.

What meets the eye is only external beauty which is materialistic in nature. Materialism will never take you anywhere but your feelings surely will give you experience to remember and cherish forever.   

Beauty is enjoyed and loved wherever it’s tendrils spread to. But humans these days seem to enjoy only external beauty. They pay no heed to the inner beauty of a person.

This is the reason we see so many couples together but not in love. Similarly, there are so many couples in love but not together because they can’t sum to accept the beauty of commitment.

This is why all of us remain locked in loveless relationship. There are a lot many beautiful things in the world. Beauty is what gives us happiness, relief and distresses our mind from all the tension.

A relaxing sleep is the most beautiful thing ever because it relaxes you and rejuvenates you.

The moment when the first ray of sunlight strikes your eyes, that is a beautiful moment meant to be trapped but cannot be.

The beauty of the nature is meant to be reminisced and kept in the heart forever. It is the beautiful things which keep the Earth going.   

We are all surrounded by bad things all around us. Deaths, rapes, murder, kidnappings, and accidents, mishaps: – all these things dampen our spirit and our soul. But the presence of beautiful things around us help us to heal and gives us reason to get up and work.

The love of a pious relationship is beautiful. The bond between a mother and her children is beautiful. The sisterhood or brotherhood that two sisters or brothers share is beautiful.

Friendship without any malice is beautiful and meant to be cherished over. Basically, all relationships that are filled with love and affection provide you happiness.   

The beauty of life is in the way we take things around us. We should have an optimistic outlook towards life and we should learn to enjoy every part of it.

What is the use to live if you are not living your life to the hilt? We should be able to accept that whatever happens around us has a reason to happen.

Obstacles and hurdles only help you learn necessary skills in life. Learn to find beauty in small things. It might be a beautiful flower or a row of ants working hard to have their food.

Something that gives you happiness is a thing of beauty. But that experience might not always be something big. Something petty or something small, it might be anything.  

Something on the surface might look beautiful but on the inside it may turn to be obnoxious and detrimental to your well being.

But something might look bad on the first look but after scrutinization, we may learn that there is more to the untold story which is actually very beautiful and captivating.

As we say, don’t judge a book by its cover. At the first glance, you should not judge what is inside. You never know what is going on inside the head of a person.     

We have often heard that looks are deceptive. But still people tend to fall for them. The nature of a person is what really matters.

Because after years, you won’t see their flawless skin. Both of you would be married with diseases and your skin will be wrinkled with creases.

But you will still find love in that moment. Looks flowed but your trend will remain unflawed. This is the beauty of a pure relationship.  

After a point of time, physical appearance does not matter and never will. You do not remember Gandhiji but you do remember him for the work he did for our country.

There are many other people from whom we can take inspiration like Sachin Tendulkar , Maria sharapova, Sania Nehwal etc. they were not roped in their respective teams for their internal appearance but they represented their respective teams for their skills.

The living example of this proverb is Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He worked and gained reputation in an industry which worships your looks. When he first came to the screen, he was tagged as lanky, ugly and the worst actor.

In those times, his baritone voice becomes a curse for him. But look where he is today. He is known for his talent and acting skills, not for his looks.

Because there’s something missing, and I can even tell you what: the belief we all harbor in our secret heart of hearts that beauty stands alone . That, by its very nature, is obvious. In other words, Beauty with a capital B. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now that’s another statement entirely. And what it means, so far as I can see, is that those of us whose looks aren’t of the capital B variety can pretty much stop holding our breaths, stop waiting for the right eyes to show up and gaze us.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Beauty is in the mind and the soul. Beauty is in the words that she speaks. Beauty is in her heart, so it’s never cold.

The person who is widely credited with coining the saying in its current form is Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (née Hamilton), who wrote many books, often under the pseudonym of ‘The Duchess’. In Molly Bawn, 1878, there’s the line “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, which is the earliest citation that I can find in print.

Greek philosophers, including Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, considered beauty an absolute manifest in order, symmetry, and proportion. But, Skeptics, Epicureans, and Stoics nudged towards an understanding that beauty exists in symmetry (objective) and in eurhythmy (subjective)

Roughly their contemporary, Confucius is credited with saying, “Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.”

In 1741, Benjamin Franklin offered, “Beauty, like supreme dominion, / Is but supported by opinion” ( Poor Richard’s Almanack, III Mon May ).

In 1757, British sceptic and essayist David Hume wrote, “Beauty is no quality in things themselves: It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them; and each mind perceives a different beauty” ( Essay XXXII, Of the Standard of Taste ).

As you can see from the above examples, the sentiment expressed in this idiom is quite old, but the modern coinage is relatively recent—and attributed to a Irish novelist.
