  • Subject line: Place the subject line as “ Application for admission cancellation & fee refund”.
  • Salutation: Use salutations like “respected sir/madam” (or) “dear sir/madam”.

  • Finally, end the letter by saying thank you and write your name in the signature field & sign above it.

1. How many days will it take to get the refund?

1 to 2 days. Once it gets approval from the principal then you will get your fee amount on the same day or the next day.

2. Is there any time limit to apply for cancellation of admission?

You have to do it before the start of the classes because once the classes start then almost all admissions will be closed. In that case, educational institutions don’t agree to refund of fee.

How to Withdraw Your College Applications

What’s covered:, what does withdrawing your application mean, when should i withdraw my application, how to withdraw a college application, does withdrawing affect your chances at other schools.

The word “withdraw” means to take back or take away. In terms of college applications, withdrawing your application means that you are no longer considering the school as a possible choice for you. There are several reasons why you might withdraw an application, including getting accepted ED to another school, receiving financial aid from other schools, being unsure whether you want to attend the school, and so forth. It is important to note that withdrawing your application will not hurt your chances at any other schools.

When you withdraw your application, you are cancelling your admission to the school. This can be done in a number of ways, but usually it is done by notifying the admissions office in writing. You will also need to notify any financial aid or scholarship offices that you are affiliated with. If you have already paid your tuition, you will likely be refunded most of your money.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best time to withdraw your college application will vary depending on your individual circumstances. However, there are a few reasons why you might withdraw your application.

1. You have been accepted ED to a school that is a better fit for you.

If you have been accepted ED to a school that is a better fit for you, you might want to withdraw your application from other schools so you can focus on the school to which you have been accepted.

2. You have received enough financial aid from other schools and do not want to take out loans in order to pay for tuition at the school you were applying to.

If you have received enough financial aid from other schools and do not want to take out loans in order to pay for tuition at the school you were applying to, then withdrawing your application might seem like a viable option.

3. You are unsure whether or not you really want to attend the school.

Whether it’s because of location, cost or other factors that you’re uncertain about, if you are not sure that you want to attend the school then withdrawing your application might seem like a good idea.

As you can see, there are many reasons why students might consider withdrawing their application.

When you withdraw your college application, it removes the chances of getting any admission offers from that particular school.  The process of withdrawing a college application is different for each institution.

Withdrawing Through College Portal

First, login to the website with your credentials pertaining to the institution which you are applying to.

Next, check on your application status in order to make sure that you are on the right page.

Afterwards, a new section will appear with a list of few options.

You may then select the “Withdraw Application” which is present at the bottom of the scrolling text box. Check out all your applications to make sure you’re withdrawing from them all, not just some!

Lastly, check out the confirmation of your withdrawn application.

Withdrawing By Email or Formal Letter

If you choose, you can withdraw your application by either emailing or writing a formal letter to the admission office.

The process is pretty much the same, but there are few differences.

First, check out your college’s applications website to find the email or mailing address of the school in order to send in applications.

Next look for the admissions office in the college and make sure you are addressing it properly like ‘Dear Admissions Officer,’ etc.

Be sure to state all your credentials including name, address and IDs that are connected to your application.

Then, wait for one whole business day before making any phone calls or checking on the email you have used for submitting withdrawal requests.

The process of withdrawing an application is different for each institution so be careful to follow all instructions provided by the admissions office before making withdrawals.

Withdrawing does not affect your chances at other schools. This is because your original application is still active and has not yet been reviewed by the college.

However, once you withdraw it will be reviewed that your application is incomplete or inactive, depending on how long it takes for you to get in touch with admissions. So try withdrawing through the college portal instead of mail if possible!

Also, check out on the schools that you have applied to and accepted offers from before withdrawing college applications.

If you withdraw from all the colleges to which you applied and got an acceptance letter, then your chances for getting in touch with any other college might be limited.

Withdrawing will not affect your chances of getting into another school, but withdrawing early can hurt your chances at getting financial aid packages.

T hat is why it’s important to weigh all your options carefully before withdrawing any college applications.

It's exciting to make decisions about where you'll attend college, but it also means you'll need to withdraw your other applications. If you're accepting an Early Decision school or have just made your choice, notify the schools that you're not attending. Don't worry—most of them make it quick and easy to do! We'll give you clear directions on how to withdraw your application and then run through some common reasons for withdrawing.

How can I withdraw my application?

Step 1 Complete a withdrawal form on the school’s website.

  • Email you used on your application
  • Reason for withdrawal (with options like financial reasons, medical reasons, no longer interested, attending another school, or personal reasons)

Step 2 Email the admissions department if you can't find an online form.

  • In response to your email, some admissions offices may ask you for a more formal withdrawal, like a letter or a phone call. This is more likely if you've already accepted the school's offer of admission but you want to change your mind.

Step 3 Send the school a written letter if they want you to formalize your withdrawal.

  • "I was pleased to be accepted at Columbia College. However, after much consideration, I have made the decision to attend a different university. Please withdraw my application. Thank you for all your help and consideration."

Step 4 Call the admissions counselor if you’d prefer that or if the school requested it.

  • If you worked with a college application tutor, ask them about the best way to proceed. They should have admissions experience or a background in higher education. They’d probably know the best person to contact at the school.

What happens if I withdraw a college application?

It informs the school that you don't plan on attending.

  • If you waited until after the deadline and you put down a deposit, you may have to work directly with the school's Financial Aid Department.
  • Note that even after you withdraw a college application through the Common App, you'll still need to withdraw from each individual school as well.

If I withdraw an application, can I reapply?

You can reapply, but it has to be for a different term.

Reasons for Withdrawing Your Application

Step 1 You were accepted at your Early Decision or Early Action school.

  • Even if you didn't submit Early Decision or Early Action applications, it's still a good idea to withdraw from all the schools you won't be accepting. This way, their Admissions and Financial Aid departments can make offers to other applicants.
  • If you're filing an appeal for more financial aid from your Early Decision school, this is a case when you may not be obligated to withdraw your other applications.

Step 2 The financial aid package was better at another school.

  • In some cases, the school may want to discuss financing options that you didn't realize were available.

Step 3 You realize the school isn’t a good fit for you.

How To Write A School Withdrawal Letter (Templates Included)

We receive a lot of questions from parents who want to homeschool their children, but their children already attend public or private schools. The questions tend to run along the lines of: “How do we get them out  of the school system once they’re already in ?”

The first step is to formally withdraw your children from school. (See other steps you should take in our Start Homeschooling section .)

Here’s an easy, comprehensive guide to write a school withdrawal letter:

Understand your rights as a parent.

Homeschooling is legal in all 50 states if you follow the relevant laws. No matter what happens, you should never  feel pressured to give up that right – by school districts, government officials or even well-meaning friends and family.

You should also never feel obligated to do any of the following:

  • Explain the decision to withdraw
  • Submit to testing
  • Attend conferences or meetings by the school
  • Allow inspections of your curriculum or home

Write the school withdrawal letter.

  • If you’re living in Kansas…

A withdrawal letter is important if you’re living in Kansas, as three consecutive unexcused absences constitute truancy under state law. This will prompt an investigation by the county/district attorney or SRS.

(See a great discussion of the “ Is Homeschooling Legal in Kansas ?” question by CHECK, the Christian Home Educators Confederation of Kansas.)

Although you can withdraw by phone, letter or in person, we recommend a letter as a hard-copy option that can be used if any legal problems arise.

Here’s what this may look like for you, if you’re removing your children in the middle of the school year (we suggest you re-type this message in your own words):

Dear (Official’s Name): We are writing to inform you that our child(ren), (Child(ren)’s Name(s)), is/are withdrawing from (School Name) and will not complete the current school year. He/she/they will instead be attending a private school for the remainder of this school year. Please remove his/her/their names from your records. To the extent necessary to complete the enrollment at his/her/their new school, you will be contacted directly by the school regarding the transfer of records. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, (Your Name)

The reason to request records is to know and track your student’s academic performance, as the primary principal/teacher of your non-accredited private school, or homeschool.

(If your student is having difficulties in some areas, this can help you perform any diagnostic tests, choose curriculum, and many other benefits.)

If you’re withdrawing your children before the school year begins, we suggest this message:

Dear (Official’s Name): We are writing to inform you that our child(ren), (Child(ren)’s Names(s)), will not be re-enrolling at {School Name) for the coming school year. He/she/they will instead be attending a private school. Please remove his/her/their names from your records. To the extent necessary to complete the enrollment at his/her/their new school, you will be contacted directly by the school regarding the transfer of records. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, (Your Name)

You can download our sample letter in PDF form here:  Notification of Intent to Withdraw a Student .

(If you need help requesting a release of student records, feel free to use this sample template:  Request for Release of Student Records .)

  • If you’re living in Missouri…

Families for Home Education (FHE), a homeschool organization in Missouri, recommends that parents write a withdrawal letter for children previously enrolled in school.

If the child is 5-7 years old, the law states that the parent or guardian must notify the public school in writing of withdrawal. The withdrawal letter should go to the school district where the student attended. Families need to send this letter, so schools know the child isn’t truant.

FHE has a sample withdrawal letter posted on its website .

RSMo 167.042 states that a parent or guardian “may” give the superintendent or the recorder of deeds a “Declaration of Enrollment.” Even though a school may not label their form as a “Declaration of Enrollment,” it frequently has all the components of one, so it is not necessary to sign any school form. A one-time withdrawal letter is all the parent or guardian needs to give to the school.

(Further questions on starting a Missouri homeschool? We recommend this in-depth conversation with Scott Woodruff, an HSLDA attorney, concerning Missouri homeschool laws . You can also contact FHE at 1-877-696-6343 or [email protected].)

Make arrangements for legal support.

We’re big fans of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) , in part because of the wonderful aid and counsel they provide to families nationwide and around the world.

That’s why we recommend that all new homeschoolers become HSLDA members. In case any issues arise, you’ll have instant legal protection and representation.

In fact, you can get $15 off an annual HSLDA membership as one of our membership benefits  when you join MPE !

I have read the laws and it says that letter must be filed with the recorder of deeds.

Hi Alexandria,

According to Missouri laws, which you can access on this website ( https://revisor.mo.gov/main/OneSection.aspx?section=167.042 ), the wording is “may” provide a declaration of enrollment with the recorder of deeds or chief school officer, not “must” provide. While this declaration of enrollment is not legally required, we do recommend that you write a formal school withdrawal letter using the suggested templates provided in this blog post.

HSLDA actually goes into the wording “may provide” in more detail in our video about the history of homeschooling in the KC area: https://youtu.be/LGqJPTWapCA We strongly recommend that you contact HSLDA if you are experiencing any difficulty in withdrawing your child from their current school.

Hope this helps, Shanxi

I just enrolled my child in k12 and called her school to ask how I take her out. They said k12 have to send something saying that she is going to then is this right? I didn’t have to do that with her frist school I just signed a paper and she was enrolled with them now I’m being told something different and I don’t want to have her go to pinecrest any more as they are horrible people.

Hi Kimberly,

Because k12 is an online public school program, this withdrawal letter template would not apply in your case. Our office staffers have sent you a follow-up email regarding your comment. Thanks so much.

Election latest: Farage urged to 'get a grip' of Reform UK amid racism row

John Healey, the shadow defence secretary, has urged Nigel Farage to "get a grip" of Reform UK after a racism row involving the prime minister. It comes as a Reform UK canvasser who used a racial slur against Rishi Sunak called himself a "total fool" and said he has learned his lesson.

Reform UK has withdrawn support from three of its candidates, the party has confirmed.

Nigel Farage's party is no longer backing Edward Oakenfull, Robert Lomas, and Leslie Lilley - who were all previously candidates for Reform.

Mr Oakenfull reportedly penned social media posts about the IQ of sub-Saharan Africans - which he told the BBC were "taken out of context".

Meanwhile, Mr Lomas allegedly said black people should "get off [their] lazy arses" and stop acting "like savages".

Ms Lilley is accused of describing people arriving on small boats as "scum".

The candidates will remain on the ballot paper, but are no longer endorsed by Reform UK.

It comes as Sky News identified two additional Reform UK parliamentary candidates who shared material deemed "vile" and in breach of the internationally-recognised definition of antisemitism.

Our live poll tracker collates the results of opinion surveys carried out by all the main polling organisations - and allows you to see how the political parties are performing in the run-up to the general election.

With under a week to go, the Tories and Labour have taken a drop, while support for Reform UK and the Liberal Democrats is on the rise.

Read more about the tracker  here .

First Minister of Scotland John Swinney has joined criticism of "racist and homophobic comments" allegedly made by Reform UK campaigners.

Despite this, he said they are "not a surprise to me".

Mr Swinney, also the leader of the SNP, said: "I think this is where the politics of Reform ends up and I deplore it. I deprecate it. I want nothing to do with it.

"We will always rail against racist and homophobic comments, and I can't believe that there's a single thing Nigel Farage can do to control a problem that he himself has started."

The SNP leader goes on to claim that this is not a case of bad apples, but "an ingrained problem of Reform".

He says: "Nigel Farage has set this all up. He has stoked it all.

"With every word over all these years, he has incited all that intolerance and prejudice in our society.

"I want to have nothing to do with it.

"And I don't think there's anything Nigel Farage can do to stop it, because he created it."

Reform UK has reported Channel 4 to the elections watchdog for alleged "scandalous... interference" over what the party claims was a fake rant planted by the broadcaster.

Footage from an undercover Channel 4 reporter showed Reform campaigner Andrew Parker using a discriminatory term about the prime minister, as well as saying the army should "just shoot" migrants crossing the Channel.

Police are now assessing the comments to establish if an offence has been committed, while Mr Sunak  said the insult directed at him "hurts and it makes me angry".

Mr Farage, the leader of Reform UK, has since suggested that Channel 4 may have paid an actor to make racist comments about the prime minister, posing as a canvasser for Reform.

In a letter to the Electoral Commission, party secretary and leading barrister Adam Richardson claimed that "Mr Parker is not a property developer as he has alleged but a jobbing actor".

He added it was "entirely evident that Mr Parker was a plant within the Channel 4 news piece".

The letter said: "It is wholly unbelievable that by complete coincidence Channel 4 were performing an undercover investigation and by chance were paired up to go canvassing with a man who was pretending to be someone else, using a false voice and saying almost exclusively racist and bigoted remarks."

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, has said he is refusing to appear on Laura Kuenssberg's Sunday morning politics show until the BBC apologise for a "dishonest" audience.

He claimed this audience existed during his appearance on Question Time.

Mr Farage says: "I have just been invited to appear on Laura Kuenssberg.

"I'm refusing until the BBC apologises for their dishonest QT audience.

"Our state broadcaster has behaved like a political actor throughout this election.

"Reform will be campaigning vigorously to abolish the license fee."

Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, has insisted that his party shares "no values with Nigel Farage" in the wake of a new racism row.

It comes after Mr Farage, the leader of Reform UK, suggested that Channel 4 may have paid an actor to make racist comments about the prime minister, posing as a canvasser for Reform.

Sir Ed says: "Liberal Democrats share no values with Mr. Farage. He can sort himself out. My job as a Liberal Democrat leader is to tell you what we're about.

"I want to fight a positive campaign about how we rescue our NHS and make sure we get the investment in health and care. Make sure we sort out the cost of living problems that people are really suffering under, and deal with things like the environmental issues, like sewage.

"You know, and I think people get fed up in this campaign when there's all these diversions and nastiness. They want to know what you're going to do for them.

"And that's what the Liberal Democrats are going to say."

The Archbishop of Canterbury urged people to avoid "personalised abuse" in the closing stages of the election campaign as he encouraged voters to go to the ballot box.

The Most Reverend Justin Welby said: "In these last few days before the election, let us pray for all candidates taking part in this most essential act of democracy.

"Let us encourage courteous and kind debate and not use personalised abuse.

"Let us carefully consider issues and the common good, and above all vote."

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told former soldiers of his plans for a veterans' bill, if the Tories are re-elected, during a campaign visit in his North Yorkshire constituency.

Mr Sunak drunk tea and munched on a cake at the Ellerton Lakeside Cafe, near Northallerton, as he chatted with about a dozen veterans who had gathered for Armed Forces Day, joking that: "You need a lot of sugar to get through my day."

Listening to the men, he said: "That's why we now have, like they do in the US, we have a dedicated office for veteran's affairs, a minister in the cabinet, funding.

"So, we're at the start of that journey."

He said: "If we're re-elected, we're actually going to have a veteran's bill, we're going to pass our first ever veteran's bill in parliament.

"That will bring together all the things that we need to do - put some things in law that will improve the service that we've providing.

"That hasn't happened before - a flagship veteran's bill that (veterans' minister) Johnny Mercer's been working on which will just continue to improve the support."

Mr Sunak listened as he was told about initiatives to tackle veterans' homelessness, mental health problems and issues facing service families at the nearby Catterick Garrison.

He said: "We want to make sure all of you get the support you are entitled to."

By Ben Bloch , political reporter

Two Reform UK parliamentary candidates have shared material deemed "vile" and in breach of the internationally-recognised definition of antisemitism.

Candidates of the right-wing party have previously shared on social media material defending Adolf Hitler, denying the Holocaust, conspiracy theories about the Rothschild family and Jewish financier George Soros, denial of antisemitism, and comparisons of the state of Israel with Nazi Germany.

The uncovering of these social media posts, in a dossier compiled by the Campaign Against Antisemitism and verified by Sky News, raises yet further questions about the vetting process undertaken by  Reform UK  ahead of nominating these candidates to stand for parliament.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has threatened to take legal and police action against a vetting firm, Vetting.com, saying it was paid £144,000 to carry out candidate checks but "not a single piece of work was delivered", and alleged political bias.

Today is the final Saturday of the general election campaign, with people across the UK preparing to cast their vote on 4 July.

There's still plenty that could happen between now and Thursday - so now isn't the time to turn away.

It's 12.30pm - here's everything you need to know so far:

  • Party leaders are on the election campaign trail on  Armed Forces Day;
  • Rishi Sunak will later hail the "duty, dedication and selfless personal sacrifice" of servicemen and women and claim his is the only party to meet the Help for Heroes Veterans' Pledge;
  • Meanwhile, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has pledged to introduce a new armed forces commissioner and lead a "government of service" if Labour is elected;
  • However, there is another story holding attention today - a racism row involving a Reform UK canvasser and Rishi Sunak;
  • Footage from an undercover Channel 4 reporter showed Reform campaigner Andrew Parker using a discriminatory term about the prime minister, as well as saying the army should "just shoot" migrants crossing the Channel;
  • The canvasser has called himself a "total fool" and said he has learned his lesson;
  • But John Healey, the shadow defence secretary, has urged Nigel Farage to "get a grip" of Reform UK after a racism row involving the prime minister.
  • Sir Keir Starmer has also commented today, urging Mr Farage to "set the tone" in his party;
  • And Tom Tugendhat , the security minister, has criticised those "in Nigel Farage's company" who have "rather extraordinary and unpleasant views".
