Anna Kiper has been involved in the fashion industry for many years, as a fashion forecaster, designer and more recently as an instructor. For the last 14 years she has taught, in New York, fashion portfolio and concept development courses at Fashion Institute of Technology, Parson School of Design, Parsons Paris, Pratt Institute, and Drexel University. Her first book Fashion Illustration: Inspiration and Technique is a bestseller and has been translated into six languages.

About the author

Anna Kiper is a New York City based fashion designer with a passion for illustration. She has worked for companies such as Calvin Klein, Mondi, and Maggie Norris Couture where she dressed Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry, and other celebrities for Red Carpet events and magazine covers. Anna is also a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Parsons School of Design. Anna's work has been widely published in books and magazines. Her illustrations have been exhibited at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and were showcased at the Museum of the City of New York as part of a presentation on contemporary haute couture.

What was your research process like? I’ve collaborated with nearly 100 contributors, including some American and European designers, as well as some graduate and undergraduate fashion design and textile art students from FIT, Parsons, and Central Saint Martins. Since my book aimed to feature all aspects of fashion industry, I was interested in contributions from various design specialists including knitwear, menswear, activewear, children’s wear, lingerie, bridal , and accessory designers. One of the most unique contributions to the book was an article about history of fashion forecasting by David Wolfe, creative director of The Doneger Design Group.

What are you proudest of? This book is very visual and comprehensive. It explores the subject from every possible angle. Coordination of the input of nearly 100 contributors was a challenging and rewarding experience.
