Tuition Fees for Postgraduate Programmes

Master of Public Administration

(a) Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 2.7.

(b) Applicants holding unclassified degrees (e.g. MD) must have at least a B grade average.

Master in Public Health

(a) Bachelor’s degree with at least a GPA of 2.7 or at least a GPA of 4.0 at Postgraduate Diploma. 

(b) An applicant who holds an unclassified bachelor’s degree with an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 3.0. OR Graduates from recognized universities in health fields of study that are inclusive of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science Nursing, Environmental Health Sciences and Epidemiology.

Master of Educational Management and Administration

(a) Must have a first or second class honours degree from a recognized university accredited higher learning institution.

(b) Applicants holding a pass degree may be considered for admission if the GPA is not less than 2.7. 

(c) Applicants holding unclassified degrees (e.g. M.D) mush have at least a B grade average.

Postgraduate Diploma in Education

(a) Applicants holding a pass degree if the GPA is not below 2.0.

(b) Applicants holding unclassified degrees (e.g. M.D) must have at least a B grade average.

• Select # 1 to Enter Reference Number
• Enter Account no. (Our account number)
• Enter amount – Enter the amount you want to transfer
• Enter PIN – Enter your M-PESA secret code
• Press 1 to confirm  Enter no. 1 to accept the transfer

Wait for the completion message from Vodacom and CRDB. If the transaction is unsuccessful, please repeat from step no. 1 above

• Select 1: Send Money 
• Select 3: Send to Bank
• Select 2: CRDB Bank
• Enter Account Number  (Our account number)
• Enter Amount

  You will receive a message from Airtel

• The University Administration reserves the right to revise University Fees at any time during the course of your studies
• Fees Clearance Card will not be issued at the beginning of the Semester unless all fees are paid. Fees Clearance Card is to be picked from the Office of the Director of Finance.

The Graduate School is mandated to coordinate and manage graduate and postgraduate programmes. It runs the Doctoral programmes at the University. In liaison with the Higher Degrees Committee, the GS tracks the progress of all MPhil and PhD candidates through graduate seminars, research methodology workshops and progress panels. The SPGS also organizes the oral defense of Masters and Doctoral thesis before graduation.

Many students opt for an advanced degree with hope of earning a higher salary from the very beginning of their career. However, the decision to attend graduate school should not be based solely on the expectation of monetary benefits.

Many of the advantages of graduate school are qualitative, involving the kind of challenging projects one can pursue with an advanced degree that might not be open to you without one and the satisfaction that results. Graduate school provides training in research. Attending Graduate school facilitates the student’s ability to advance the state of theoretical analysis as projected through cutting-edge research. A graduate degree gives the holder more credibility among peers.

The program operates on a triad arrangement; offering Regular Programs (August intake); Distance Learning Program (August & January Intakes) and In – service Program (April, August & December In-takes). The Distance Learning students are offered courses covering 30 contact hours (Face to Face), in each unit which are always accomplished in one week. The remaining hours are covered in the unique and comprehensive module and e – Learning arrangements.

Political Science and International Relations (PhD)

The Department of Political Science and International Relations currently offers a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree, which consists of coursework during the first six semesters followed by dissertation research and writing. Students earn an M.A. as part of their Ph.D.​ studies.  

The program prepares students for occupations related to several aspects of political science, but primarily for joining the professoriate, as college and university professors. 

Field Descriptions

American politics.

The American politics field broadly encompasses institutions (including Congress, the presidency, and the courts), mass behavior (including public opinion and political participation) and political organizations (like parties and interest groups). Our research program and courses are theoretically driven, but also offer opportunities for students and faculty alike to engage in applied politics. We have particular strengths in the study of political psychology, gender and politics, and race and ethnic politics.

Comparative Politics

Comparative Politics as a sub-field is a wide and diverse area of study that deals with politics beyond the U.S. It embraces a range of methodological and theoretical approaches. At the University of Delaware, our comparative politics faculty conduct research in gender and politics in Africa, governance in Africa, comparative political economy with a focus on Europe, populism in Latin America, regionalism in Asia, religion and politics in the Middle East, and ethnic conflict.

International Relations

International Relations (IR) is the study of international and transnational politics broadly understood.   Work in the IR subfield is attentive to exchanges and processes among states, peoples, corporations and other economic activity, organizations, transnational actors and movements, as well among the global, regional, and local levels of politics. The IR faculty at the University of Delaware conduct research in areas of historical IR and the historical evolution of the international system; normative IR theory; conflict and peace-building; international security; security studies; political economy; gender and IR; human rights and human security; and global, regional, and transnational governance.  

Political Theory and Law

The subfield of Political Theory consists of offerings in political theory and law. The political theory subfield focuses on the conceptual frameworks we use to understand, explain, and evaluate our political world. Our faculty includes specialists in both theory and law, many of whom overlap with other subfields in the discipline and who have interdisciplinary ties with fields including Legal Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Sexuality and Gender Studies, and Islamic Studies. Our department includes the study of both the history of ideas and contemporary political and social theory, with strengths in critical theory, modern and postmodern political theory, feminist and queer theory, democratic theory, and Islamic political thought.
