Improving the Academic Performance in Araling Panlipunan through Merit Badges Method

The last 50 years have seen huge growth worldwide in the provision of education at all levels. COVID-19 is the greatest challenge that these expanded national education systems have ever faced (Education and the Covid-19 Pandemic Published April 20, 2020). This pandemic has caused an unprecedented crisis in all areas. In the field of education, this emergency has led to the massive closure of face-to-face activities of educational institutions in more than 190 countries in order to prevent the spread of the virus and mitigate its impact (ECLAC, 2020).

Lavadia The study determined the level of competency in Araling Panlipunan in the third Congressional District of Quezon. It also determined the relationship between Academic Performance and level of competency in Araling Panlipunan. The study used descriptive-correlational research design which primarily employed the survey method to obtain information from the thirty four (34) teachers which were chosen through simple random sampling and three hundred eighty eight (388) students which were chosen through the use of Slovin’s formula. The students have a high level of competency in Araling Panlipunan. Through the t test of correlational analysis, the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between academic performance and level of competency in Araling Panlipunan of Junior High School students. This study provides recommendatory actions that the teachers in Araling Panlipunan must be consistent in implementing the varied teaching strategies that will augment student’s understanding on Araling Panlipunan thus improving the above average academic performance and be able to reach the outstanding academic performance. In addition, teachers in Araling Panlipunan should use contextualized and localized instruction to improve the students’ understanding of the themes: Time, Continuity and Change; Culture, Identity, and Nationhood; and Production, Distribution and Consumption. Moreover, the Junior High School students must advance their academic performance vis-à-vis the level of competency that is required in the curriculum of Araling Panlipunan in order to augment the correlation between the two. This paper discusses about strengthening the management of academic quality. Oneof the educational problems faced by the Indonesian, these are the low quality ofeducation at every level and unit of educations, especially at primary and mediumeducation. The various attempts have to improve the quality of national education,for instance: developing national or local curricula, increasing teacher’scompetences through training, procuring books and learning tools, improvingeducational facilities, infrastructures, and improving the quality of the school’smanagement. However, the indicators of the education’s quality do not show thesignificant improvement. Some schools, especially in cities show the quite encourageimprovements in the quality of education. But, part of them is still apprehensive,especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The teachers and education’smanagement have experiencesin many things.

Pandemic Covid-19 significantly impacts education, so it takes strategy management development curriculum as an attempted adjustment.-Based distance learning online has many obstacles in almost all aspects of learning and almost in most of the regions in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the strategy of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Sumenep in carrying out the management of the curriculum during the pandemic Covid-19 lasts. This study uses a qualitative method through data collection using the technique of in-depth interviews, participant observation, and the study of documents. Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Sumenep also makes adjustments during the pandemic, based on the diagnosis of internal conditions and external Madrasah. The stages of Curriculum management include Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation. Its primary purpose is to keep students getting an education, especially essential character education. The adoption of the Strategy Curriculum management shows an improvement of the quality of learning and students ' motivation during the pandemic covid-19. Improving a Country’s Education

Taiwan has, from 2006, participated in five Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) surveys. This chapter discusses Taiwan’s performance in PISA and its implications. At first, the education system and the process of educational reform in Taiwan were described. Then Taiwan’s performances for reading, math, and science in PISA were delineated. Taiwanese students have had consistently excellent performance for math and science; its reading performance, although not as outstanding as those for math and science, has improved significantly from 2009 to 2018. The gender gap in reading, in favour of female students, has narrowed, and the gender gap in math and science has been small. Educational equity, especially between rural and urban students, has also improved from 2006 to 2018. The practical subjects studied were Pencak Silat and Volleyball Learning before the pandemic and during the pandemic.
