Chandigarh is known for its well-planned cityscape. All over the world, it is admired for its design and architecture. Pt. Devendranath, the then Indian Prime Minister, had visualized it as his dream city. A special care was taken to build the building that was built by Jawahar Lal Nehru.

It was designed by Albert Mayer, a prominent American architect. This city’s architecture is credited to popular French architect Le Corbusier. In the city, there are different sectors, and each sector has its own market and residential area. There are many beautiful trees in the city. Sector 1 of Chandigarh contains the artificial lake Sukhna Lake that is the city’s main attraction. A popular spot in the city since 1958, it was created in 1958. It has been built with a systematic approach by the people of Chandigarh.

It is not just that the city is well designed, but it is also kept very clean in every aspect. You won’t find any litter around as you would in other parts of the country. The police are extremely vigilant in the city when it comes to traffic. Here, breaking traffic rules is not allowed. All levels of discipline are maintained. Here, life is peaceful and harmonious.

Sukhna Lake is my favorite place in the city. Every day, the place becomes more happening. Mornings here are completely different from evenings. It’s peaceful and serene in the morning because the air is fresh. There is no better place to unwind and relax. Evenings are busy with boaters and snackers taking advantage of the lake’s amenities.

Children have also been provided with electronic swings. During the evening hours, the place is bustling with activity. It’s a great place to go out with friends and family. Both early morning and evening are convenient times for me to visit the location. Whether it is peaceful, quiet or crowded, I love it all.

My city is more than just my home. It is my lifeline. I would like to live here for the rest of my life. Any other city would not be as peaceful and happy for me.

The cuisine of Lucknow is a food lover’s paradise. The city is famous for its kebabs, biryanis, and rich gravies that are influenced by Mughlai and Awadhi traditions. Tunday Kebabi, Galouti Kebab, and Kulfi Falooda are some of the must-try dishes when in Lucknow.

The popular street food like chaat, samosa, and jalebi also has a unique taste here due to the use of ‘Lucknawi masalas’ (spices). Every time I go out to eat in Lucknow, I am spoilt for choice and end up indulging in a gastronomic adventure.

Emerging as a Modern City

While Lucknow is known for its old-world charm, it is also rapidly developing into a modern city. The infrastructure has improved significantly with the development of malls, multiplexes, and IT parks. Many renowned universities and educational institutes have also been established here, making Lucknow an emerging hub for education.

The city’s transport system has also undergone a transformation with the introduction of metro trains, making commuting easier and faster. I am proud to see my city grow and evolve while still maintaining its cultural roots.

Hello friends, hope you all are doing fine. Today I want to share with you all a short and brief article about Chennai. Except for the Marina Beach and Express Avenue I have never written any article here about my hometown Chennai. So I just thought today I would share with you all some short information about my hometown so that it would be really helpful for you when you visit my city.

Chennai, formerly known as Madras , is the largest city in the entire southern part of India. This is the capital city of Tamil Nadu located in the Republic of India. The city has its eastern boundary with mighty ocean of Bay of Bengal which stretches for about 17km thereby making Marina the second largest sea shore in the world.

Chennai has a very strong history and all its fame can be attributed to the Raja of Chandragiri who was the first person to lay out the foundation for establishing the city of Chennai.

During the English rule in India the British government established some forts and trading places throughout the city. They called this province as the Madrasapattinam. A movie was released in the very recent period starring Aarya and Amy Jackson that attracted many global audience. The film represents the classic Tamil lifestyle and the period of British rule in India.

Chennai is the only region in India where you can see the perfect blend of various communities . There is a popular saying in Tamil called as "Vandharai Vazavaikkum Chennai" which literally means that "Chennai gives life to all those who seeks refuge in it". This can be visually seen when you visit Chennai as you can see people from almost every region in India.

There are people who still wear long saree to people who wear modern western outfits. There are people wearing traditional dhothies to people wearing blazers. There are shops that sells idly dosa which are traditional Chennai foods to pizza hut and McDonalds. This striking feature of Chennai can sometime amazes the tourists which when coupled with some prominent malls and monuments with banners found at every corner of the city will give all the first time visitors a new experience.

Although it has been more than seven decades since the British has left India, still in the streets of Chennai you can feel the British touch. Most of the government buildings and complexes, railway stations, high court and churches were structures that were built during the British Period .

Marina Beach which is the second largest sea shore in the whole world however the sea is not used for swimming because of the high levels of sharks found in this area.

Chennai houses diverse religions and communities to live in harmony with each other. It also bears some of the old famous places of worship belonging to different religious communities such as the Kapaleeshwara temple of Mylapore, Parthasarathy koil in thiruvellicaeni which are some architectural master pieces.

The city is well connected to every nuke and corner by a well developed city bus transportation services. There are electric trains that connects the important parts of the cities. The chennai metro rail projects are in the final level of completion. The city known as the "Gateway to the South" is known for its beach, diverse population, cinemas and theaters, shopping malls, parks, restaurants etc.

The people of Chennai are well versed in various art forms ranging from the classical Bharathanatiyam to present day's hip hop, salsa etc. You can taste whatever food you like in Chennai. You can opt for a traditional South Indian food or a Chinese cuisine. You also get every major cuisine in the world in Chennai. Chennai is known for some of the prominent landmarks that is found in and around the city.

Sightseeing attractions

• St. George's fort is actually the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Located near the beach the fort has the longest flag pole in the whole country. The fort was built during the rule of East India Company in Madras. There is a church of St. Mary which is found within the church which is one of the oldest church in India. The fort also has some of the oldest British tombstones in India. There is also a museum in the fort which has some rare collection of British period. There is also a war memorial that was built in memory of those warriors who lost their life in the World War I.
• Santhome Basilica is a prominent historical monument located in the city of Chennai. The name Santhome is derived from the name of a saint called St. Thomas who later died on a nearby hill called St. Thomas Mount. The church has a Portuguese architecture which still contains some remains of St. Thomas. The cathedral still stands strong touching the skies, the central hall of Santhome Basilica has 14 wooden plaques which depict the last fourteen days of Jesus Christ. The statue of virgin Mary found in this cathedral is bought all the way from Portugal in the past.
• The High Court building in Chennai is another example of British touch. Built more than 100 years ago, the Chennai High Court is one of the largest justice complex in the whole world with the first one being located in London. The court has a decorated entrance with several arch. Even today the court functions actively and it is always crowded except for the holidays. The court had even a lighthouse complex which was later replaced by the new light house constructed in Marina Beach.
• Government Museum is another important historical monument with an ocean of information. Although it has the name as the Government museum it is owned by a group of British citizens who aim in improving the life of Britishers in Chennai, preserve the historical data, Buddhist sculptures, Relics of Chera, Chola and Pallava periods, a magnificent dancing statue of Natarajar, Durga statue and Ganesha Statue which are from the Chola period is present inside the museum. It also includes a museum theater and also one of the largest libraries of Connemara.
• Kapakeeswarar which is a master piece built during the period of the Pallava rulers is located within the city of Chennai in a palace called Mylapore. This amazing temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has beautiful sculptures for all the 63 Nayanmars of Shiva. On the outside of the temple is found a peacock kind of sculpture which depicts Goddess Parvathi who worships Lord Shiva in the form of a peacock. During the 63 festival also in Tamil as "Arubathu Moovar" festival all the 63 nayanmars are taken in procession around the temple.
• Parthasarathy temple which is another example of Pallava architecture is currently located in a place called Triplicane in the city of Chennai. I have written a detailed description of this powerful place in one of my previous articles.
• Marina Beach which is one of the major tourist spot in the city is a 13 km long shore. The beach has some of the famous political leaders statues and memorials. I have written a detailed description about Marina Beach in a separate article. Please refer my previous posts.
• Elliot's Beach is the beach that is found south to Marina Beach where is located some of the famous religious places such as Astalakshmi temple and Velankani church (not the one in Nagapattinam).
• Chennai Harbor which is another important century old place located in Chennai. Chennai harbor still functions effectively and serves as an important point of trade and commerce. This is a fully man made harbor, not a natural one.
• Ice House which is a prominent place in Chennai was the name given to the place where huge blocks of ice were cut from the frozen lakes in the north, transported here and stored for refrigeration.
• Guindy National Park which is prominently a deer sanctuary located in Guindy. There can also be seen some of the rare species of animals such as mongoose, jackals, civet, cats and a wide variety of monkeys.
• Snake park is found in the same place houses a wide variety of several poisonous and non-poisonous varieties of snakes. This is a massive natural park that extends approximately 1300 acres which several species of plants, animals and birds. There are also some important activities and zones in the zoo such as safari parks, nocturnal animal house and aquarium which is made in the form of a giant fish.
• Valluvar Kottam , as I mentioned in my previous article regarding Thiruvalluvar and Thirukkural, this is a monument that is dedicated to the greatest poet Thiruvalluvar. The monument which resembles the shape of a temple chariot contains a real life statue of Thiruvalluvar in it. The auditorium which is located in this complex is the largest in Asia. The 133 chapters of Thirukkural is inscribed in the front hall of the chariot.

• Birla Planetarium which is located in a place called Koturpuram is one of the most advanced planetarium in India. The planetarium can accommodate up to 240 people and near by this planetarium is a famous science and technology museum.
• Just like Queens Land which I mentioned in my previous article, VGP has a number of amusing rides and other fun activities ideal for children. There is also a cultural hall and an art centre where you can buy a number of handicrafts.
• Kancheepuram which is called as the temple town in India has numerous temples unlike any city in India. Kancheepuram is also famous for its silk sarees that are woven in hands. One of the famous Hindu Guru Adi Shankaracharya has his mut here.
• Vedanthangal is a world popular bird sanctuary in the state of Tamil Nadu located at a distance of 85 kilometres from the city capital Chennai. November to February is the season for bird watching in Vedanthangal. There are more than a million varieties of bird found in Vedanthangal and the most prominent ones including cormorants, blue winged teals, white ibis, pelicans, spoon bills etc.
• Muttukadu is a famous backwater zone found in the outskirts of Chennai at a distance of 36 km. There are several water sport events conducted by the tourism department in this area. There is even boating facilities available here.
• Kalakshetra is a traditional dance school... one of the best in the nation. The name "Kalakshetra" means the Temple of Art. The classes are held in huts resembling old Gurukulas. The scenic beauty of this place will give the learners an ultimate piece of mind. The school teaches the traditional dance of Tamil Nadu - Bharathanatiyam.

Bars and Discos

Hotel Imperial bar, Connemara bar, Maxim Night Club and Planet2000 are some of the famous bars in the city for a perfect hangout. There are also disco easily available at the park Sheraton, Hotel President and at Sindoori Hotel.

There are a numerous cinema and theaters found throughout the city. Some of the popular ones are PVR cinemas at Skywalk, Sathyam cinemas, Abhirami cinema, Sangham Cinemas, Ega complex. The daily newspapers give you the exact venue and schedule of different cinemas at theaters.

Including the Government Connemara Library, there are different libraries such as British Council Library in Anna Salai, American Centre Library which is attached to the US consulate and Alliance française in Nungambakkam has a wide collection of books.

Some of the famous bookshops in the country are found in Chennai these include Landmarks Book Shop, Higginbothams at Anna Salai, Odyssey and never miss the Miss Giggles Book Shop in Connemara hotel.

Almost all Indian festivals are celebrated in Chennai city as it is inhabited by all groups of people from different parts of the country, Pongal and Tamil New Year are something special to the Tamil people.

You can find yourself accomodated in number of hotels, mansions and lodges found across Chennai. Some of the best hotels in the city are Hotel Taj Corromandel, Conneemara, Ambassador Pallava, GRT Grand Days, Sheraton all belong to five star hotel category. If you want to stay in a good mid range hotels then you can consider Hotel Pandian, Ranjith, YMCA International Guest House etc.

You can taste every Indian cuisine in Chennai with its numerous hotels found in the streets. You can also enjoy Chinese, Japanese, continental, Thai, Korean cuisine in Chennai at its specific hotels.

There are a wide range of shopping centres found in Chennai. If you want to shop branded like Adidas, Reebok, Nike, Puma, Salamander, Levis, showrooms can be found around the city of Chennai. T-nagar with all kinds of textile, jewelery and other shops can be considered as the shopping hub of Chennai.

How to arrive here

You can reach Chennai by air, water and land . By air you will arrive at the Chennai International or Domestic Airports. Number of flights arrive from different parts of country and also from different parts of the world here.

You can use trains from different parts in the country. Chennai central is the station that you will arrive and Chennai is well connected with all major cities and towns with trains. There are also a number of public and private buses that leaves to different parts of the state or countries from the Central Moffusil Bus Terminus also called as CMBT. Ships from Andaman and Nicobar Island arrive at the Chennai harbor during specific days in a week.

Chennai with its diverse population, culture, religions, monuments and people will give you a real feel of India and some memories that you can never erase it off!

I also love the fact that there is so much to explore in this city. The never ending bazaars full of beautiful clothes and home décor items, the ancient monuments and the beautiful temples – I just love everything about this city. Finally, there is a place I feel like calling my own. This is my city and I would love to live here forever.

Introduction

I was just 2 years old when my parents shifted to Noida. Noida is a planned city that forms a part of the National Capital Region of India. The city came into existence on 17 th April 1976 and the day is celebrated as Noida Day each year.

My City My Lifeline

I have been living in Noida for the last 12 years. I still remember our old house where I spent 3 years of my life. Though, I was very young at that time, I still have fond memories of my friends who lived in our neighbourhood.

The Mall Excursions

Noida is known for its big malls and shopping complexes. People from Delhi and other parts of NCR specially visit these malls to spend good time with their family and friends. I have visited all these malls and just love the fun time spent here. We go to these malls for movies, gaming and also for family dinners. Since the last few months my parents have also started allowing me to go to the malls with friends although they pick and drop me to the place. Excursions to these malls are super exciting. I especially love playing different games such as bowling and air hockey at these malls.

Noida Foodie’s Delight

Noida is certainly a Foodie’s delight. With so many offices and educational institutes around, Noida is a hub for delectable street food. All kinds of food items, from Lucknowi kababs to Chinese momos – everything available here is just delicious.

My city is one of the most happening cities in the country. Everything here is just awesome. I just wish the government here strengthens women security too.

Lucknow is my city of birth. It is where my family and extended family lives. We used to live here until I was 10 years old but around 2 years back we had to move to Rajasthan because my father’s business demanded so. My Early Memories of Lucknow

We lived in a joint family. I lived with my parents and grandparents. My early memories of Lucknow are all related to my grandparents, their stories, the streets of Lucknow and the weekend trips to the nearby markets. I remember going for morning walk with my grandfather who used to narrate his childhood experiences on the way. I remember the freshness of the bougainvillea plant that grew in our backyard.

I remember my evening visits to the beautiful white marble temple with my grandmother. I remember the fragrance of the freshly prepared kabab paranthas at the street stall in our neighbourhood. I also remember my weekend trips to the market with my parents. We shopped and ate and had a lot of fun during that time.

My Favourite Spots in Lucknow

Lucknow is known for its markets, its scrumptious food, beautiful monuments and. My favourite spots in Lucknow are the Imam Bara, Marine Drive, Hazrat Ganj market and Bhootnath market. I have a lot of fond memories of these places.

I have visited Imam Bara quite a few times. The first time I visited this place with my parents when I was very young. A few years later I visited the place as a part of my school excursion. We also went to the place when my maternal aunt and cousins visited us. I can visit Imam Bara over and over again and still not get bored.

We often visited marine drive in the evening. A stroll by the river side was extremely rejuvenating. I also loved shopping trips to Bhootnath and Hazrat Ganj markets with my mother. We both love shopping and the variety of things we got there was just amazing.

I just can’t wait to be in the city of Nawabs yet again. I am craving to have the delicious kabab roles and korma of Lucknow. I also want to visit all my favourite places in the city and meet my old friends.

My City Essay 4 (500 words)

I live in Chandigarh. I am born and brought up here and I simply love the essence of this place. My city is the most beautiful one in the country. It is one of the seven union territories in India and is the capital city of both Punjab and Haryana.

History and Origin of the City

Chandigarh happens to be the first planned city in India. Its origin dates back to the post independence era. During the partition of India, Punjab was also divided into two parts. Punjab’s capital, Lahore formed a part of the newly formed Pakistan and the state was thus left without any capital. Chandigarh was planned with the aim of giving a capital to Punjab. In the year 1966, a new state was carved from Eastern Punjab. It came to be known as Haryana. Chandigarh serves as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana.

Chandigarh City – Planned and Organized

Chandigarh is known to be a well-planned city. It is appreciated for its design and architecture all over the world. Since it was the dream city of the then Indian Prime Minister, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru special care was taken to build its architecture. American Architect, Albert Mayer was specially called to lay its design. Popular French architect Le Corbusier designed various buildings and contributed to the city’s architecture. The city is divided into various sectors and each sector has its own market and residential area. The city is well planted with a variety of beautiful trees.

Chandigarh’s main attraction is the Sukhna Lake which is an artificial lake in sector 1. It was created in 1958 and has since been one of the most happening spots in the city.

The people of Chandigarh have kept up with the systematic approach it was built with. Not only is the city well designed but it is also kept extremely clean in every way. You will not find any litter around as is seen in various other parts of the country. Traffic police in the city is extremely vigilant. No one can dare to break the traffic rules here. The discipline is maintained at every level. People live in peace and harmony here.

Sukhna Lake – My Favourite Spot

My favourite spot in the city is of course Sukhna Lake. The place is becoming happening by the day. The atmosphere here in the morning is completely different compared to that in the evening. In the morning, the place is calm and serene filled with fresh air. It is the best place to relax and unwind. In the evening, it is crowded with people enjoying boat rides and having snacks. Electronic swings have also been installed for children. The place is full of hustle and bustle during the evening hours. It is a good place to go out with friends as well as family. I can visit the place early morning as well as in the evening. I love it when it is calm and quite as well as when it is full of people.

Chandigarh is not just my city, it is my lifeline. I wish to spend all my life here. I don’t think I will be able to live as happily and peacefully in any other city.

I live in Delhi since I was 3 years old and I am completely in love with this city. Life here is fast, people here are full of life and the food you get here is just awesome. The capital of India, Delhi boosts of a rich historical past and beautiful edifices.

Delhi’s Historical Past

The history of Delhi dates back to the 12 th century. It is known as the oldest inhabited cities not just in India but around the world. Delhi has been ruled by several powerful kings including Ibrahim Lodi, Zaheeruddin Muhammad Babur, Sher Shah Suri, Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Qutub-ud-Din Aybak, Jalal-ud-din Firuz Khilji, Shah Alam Bahadur Shah I and Akbar Shah II to name a few. The city was destructed and re-built several times by different emperors.

It is believed that the Pandvas also lived in this part of the country. During that era, the city was known by the name, Indraprastha. The Old Fort (Purana Qila) is said to have been constructed during that time.

Delhi’s Beautiful Monuments

Delhi is known for its beautiful monuments. There are a number spectacular monuments standing tall since centuries. Many new edifices have been built later and are as magnificent. Tourists from around the world visit Delhi to see these monuments. Here is a look at some of the most popular monuments in my city:

Red fort is one of the oldest monuments in Delhi. Made of red sandstone, the fort encompasses various museums. This brilliant piece of architecture was built by the Mughals in the 16 th century. The Mughal emperors lived here for almost 200 years.

• Humayun’s Tomb

It is said that Humayun’s Tomb is a replica of the marvellous Taj Mahal. It is made with red sandstone and white marble. The tomb is an example of the Persian style of Islamic architecture. The tomb is 47 metres high and 91 metres wide and is surrounded by beautiful Persian-style garden.

• Lotus Temple

As the name suggests, this temple is built in the shape of a lotus. It has 27 petals made of white marble. It has nine doors that open into the main hall. The marvellous edifice is big enough to accommodate up to 2500 people at a time.

Lotus Temple is a Bahai House of Worship however it is open for people belonging to any religion.

• Qutub Minar

Yet another architectural brilliance, Qutub Minar is also made of red sand stone. It was built by Qutub Ud-Din-Aibak. This 73 metre tall edifice is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It consists of five storeys that are connected through spiral staircase.

India Gate is yet another historical monument in the city that draws numerous tourists from around the world. The names of martyrs are engraved on this monument. The Amar Jawan Jyoti lit under this monument is a tribute to the Indian soldiers.

• Akshar Dham Temple

Akshar Dham Temple is a place of devotion and purity. It is the latest addition in the list of monuments in Delhi. It was opened for public in the year 2005. Besides the beautifully carved temple and other marvellous buildings, the Akshar Dham complex includes lush green gardens and water bodies.

I have been to all these places and can visit these over and over again. I have beautiful memories of these places.

Apart from the historical monuments, Delhi also includes numerous places to shop around. It can certainly be called a shopper’s delight. I love visiting different markets that do not only give me an opportunity to buy good stuff but also gives me a chance to have delectable street food. I can’t imagine myself living anywhere other than Delhi.

I live in New Delhi. It is one of the most populated cities in India. My city is famous for its remarkable architecture. Everyday, millions of tourists from all over the world visit my city to experience its rich culture and astounding architecture, such as the Red Fort built by Shah Jahan and Qutub Minar, built by Qutb-din-Aibak.

My city also has great historical importance. It has been the centre of many previous empires, and even now, it is the capital of India. I love my city, and in the future, after becoming a successful person, I would like to live in this city with my family and friends.

I was born and brought up in New Delhi. My city is one of the busiest cities in the country. Delhi is crowded and filled with marketplaces such as Sarojini Nagar and Connaught Place, which are flocked by thousands of shoppers daily.

Education And Work | Delhi also has many educational institutes and coaching centres. Students from all over the country come here to prepare for their dream jobs. Many huge multinational companies like Google and Microsoft have their offices here and therefore it has a large working population that lives here and provides their services.

New Delhi, the city I proudly call my home, has been a centre of art, architecture, culture, and trade for centuries. It has a population of over one crore and is situated on the banks of the Yamuna river. I have been living in this city for 18 years. Since the population is huge, most of us in Delhi live in apartments built in high-rise buildings.

An Urban Centre

The city is closely woven with a vast metro network connecting it to other metropolises in the National Capital Region. My city has an effective public transportation system, and lakhs of people travel by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and the metro, on a daily basis. A major part of the population of my city consists of the younger generation studying in colleges or working in offices.

Places To See

There are many other marketplaces in my city. New Delhi also has many malls, cafés, and parks. The parks in my city are lovely, such as the Lodhi Garden, Central Park, and the Garden of Five Senses, and are always flocked by visitors.

New Delhi remains a big hustle and bustle the whole day, even at midnight. It is an urban centre in the true sense.

Architecture

Delhi has a rich history and numerous monuments, such as mosques, forts, and mausoleums. Places such as India Gate, Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Jama Masjid are architectural marvels and have great historical importance. Many great rulers and historically important figures have their tombs in my city. Delhi is also home to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Parliament of India. I am always left in awe whenever I visit these monuments.

Foodies’ Heaven

Delhi is famous for its food. Parathas from the Paratha Gali in Chandni Chowk, Momos in Lajpat Nagar, and chicken stalls in Jama Masjid are enjoyed by tourists and visitors worldwide. From roadside stalls to lavish and expensive restaurants, you can always find good food in my city, for your taste buds to relish. My favourite food is the momos, famous as “Delhi ke momos” in the country.

What I Love About Delhi

Although there is hardly anything about Delhi that I do not like, here are a few things I love the most about my city:-

I love travelling by metro. The metro in my city is very clean, fast, and affordable. I love to explore my city.

I have explored the bazaars and many of my favourite places numerous times with my friends. Likewise, I am particularly fond of the Sarojini Market in my city because it has cheap clothes and great food stalls.

The best place in my city is the Delhi zoo. I love watching different kinds of animals. My favourite animal in the zoo is the giraffe. I also like watching different types of birds.

Despite the problem of alarming pollution levels, I love my city for what it is. It still is a beautiful place to live and has so much to offer, being the capital of India. My city has played a huge role in making me the person I am today. It has been home of my parents and grandparents for years. I have fond memories of my city which I can never part away with. Everything about my city is cherishable and unique to me.

Donald Trump’s allies in recent days have called for revenge prosecutions and other retaliatory measures against Democrats in response to the former president’s felony conviction in New York.

Prominent former White House aides like Stephen Bannon and Stephen Miller have demanded locally elected Republicans use their power to target Democrats. Ronny Jackson, a House representative from Texas, said he would encourage Congress to “aggressively go after” President Biden and his family. And Laura Loomer, a far-right activist, said that some Democrats should “get the death penalty.”

They are among a growing chorus of Republicans who say that the criminal cases against Trump are a political weaponization of the justice system. Based on that premise, they argue that Republicans should do the same thing.

Seeking legal retribution is nothing new for Trump, who in 2016 echoed chants of “Lock her up” against Hillary Clinton. But the intensity of anger and open desire to use the criminal justice system against Democrats after last week’s verdict surpasses anything seen before. Many of the calls have come from people who are expected to play larger roles in a potential second term under Trump.

The clamor has left little room for moderate or traditional Republicans, such as Larry Hogan, who is looking to flip a Senate seat in Maryland. After he implored Americans to “respect the verdict,” Trump’s daughter-in-law, who is also the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, said that Hogan “ doesn’t deserve the respect of anyone in the Republican Party .”
